8221  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: i have $250,000 to start a farm help me plan it on: July 14, 2015, 11:42:05 PM
Alright, you have got many good suggestion, what i would suggest is taking care of cooling systems, try to keep for a long time all the hardware that you want to use.

I HIGHLY suggest finding an area with low electricity and can use evaporation cooling.  At 250k a full evaporation cooling might be excessive but I would find others to team up and get it.

If you have cheap electricity, and a way to cool that does not kill profits yes it could be highly profitable.    I do think OP was not serious though, i think this entire thread is a "what if" type situation.
8222  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 7pence per KWH electric any good? on: July 14, 2015, 11:34:16 PM
My rates for hosting start at 8.75 cents USD/kWh, including all taxes and fees.

not optimal , but there is still profit to be made with that rate, $3.35 -1.236, so a little above 2 dollars per day

1.236 = with 14.160 kw/h per day(590 x 24/1k) and 0.0875 per kw, we are looking at $1.236 cost per day

I agree there is still some profit left at that rate.  I just with "Lowest-Cost Miner Hosting:" as advertised was even cheaper.

If somewhere in the US can do 6 cent's or so I think they would find a LOT of business.  But so far no one has gone to that extent.
8223  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: two new ant S5 not working on: July 14, 2015, 10:05:47 PM
i have installed that yes ... several times the other firmware that indicates it fixes something with miner link i can't get to work
it might be a format error but I'm  new to macs so i really am not sure .. been going at it all day
the S5-20150415.tar is the one that isn't working
really i do appreciate the help ... its been a long day

it might be I'm using a hotspot and an extender as internet ??

what is the minerlink supposed to do anyway

Flashing firmware is not something you want to do on a hotspot and extender.  One wrong flash and it's dead controller.

I highly suggest hooking up to Ethernet during this to eliminate chance of wireless problems during.   Also it would be interesting to see what it does connected straight to router instead of through the extra gear.

If you get it on ethernet try to ping a site and see if it seems to have a connection.

prohashing 12% errors
multipools would have more hardware errors?
even litecoin pools i get 10% errors
if I lower from 90 to 50-30mhs then i get little errors.
Maybye PSU?

Generaly speaking multipools do have more. It's been a while since my scrypt day's but cleaver was horrible in the day.

But try another pool 12 percent is not common or good.   Might contact previous owner about problem see what they did.

Hmmmm, The s4+ and the S5 seem to be greyed out AT THE TIME OF THIS POST maybe the S6 and S7 or upgrades are coming out we will see.

Good spot there ....! Yep, S6 cum S:Next-one is definitely due any moment now. Ooops ... squeeky-bum-time .... can't contain the excitement.

Next is S7, not S6.

Yeees... and what kind of PSU would it require? Maybe something about hashrate? How many fans? Noise level? Weight? Display? Amps? CE approved? TELL US MAN!!! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!!! TEEELLLL UUUUUSSSSSUUSUSUSUUSSS!!!!!!!!!  Wireless? LEDs? Does it run on tubes? fgnfffnfgnnffgff!!!!

I would settle for just hashrate and power usage.... price would be nice Smiley.

Seems Dogie is one letting us know about next products not bitmain.  I'm surprised but I wont complain Smiley

Bitwisdom mid day

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303
Estimated Next Difficulty:    52,039,005,702 (+1.88%)
Adjust time:    After 1589 Blocks, About 11.1 days
Hashrate(?):    356,629,418 GH/s

Btc price: 289

So looking good almost close passing 290.   And still very low on difficulty which is very very nice.
8227  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [GUIDE] Innosilicon [A1 Booster + A2 Terminator] Support/Tuning on: July 14, 2015, 09:19:02 PM
Hey guys.
need your advice.
I bought used 90 Mh/s a2 miner on ebay
HW errors i get are rather high 10% + at 1200mhz.
with 1280 i get over 15%
Is that normal?
Avg temp is 39-40. Solo temp max is 52-53

No 10 percent is not normal for most.  Try a different pool or possibly a different node closer to you.  Try to see if it's poolside.

I your using multipools it is higher but 10 is a lot. What pool are you on?
8228  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: two new ant S5 not working on: July 14, 2015, 09:17:15 PM
my hardware version is x.x.x.x
and it doesn't want to instal the firmware that fixes the problem with minerlink
it says the magic tar is short

Are you sure your using a S5 firmware?  It should be pretty simple to install.

Here is a guide showing how ignore the firmware it say's it is old on that  - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S
8229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Buy antiminer S5 (EUROPE) on: July 14, 2015, 09:14:45 PM

Biggest thing I see is the  price - 537,98 €  ncluding 19% VAT., plus shipping

So you are paying well over Bitmain price if the math in my head is right. Have you bought from there? Just seems very very high on price.

http://asicminer-shop.de/Antminer-S5-Gebrauchtgeraet

I could sell a few used S5 from price 450 EUR piece + shipping from estonia.

I have a home 70TH/s different miners , and it is too much.

The price appears to be around 511 USD, they mention include 19 percent vat.  This comes out to be around 413 if you take off vat paid upfront.    Not not horrible price I guess if you do pay a vat.

But it is not an official reseller so you have no official warranty.  I would keep this in mind with buying there.
8230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can't Log in to S3 Antminer on: July 14, 2015, 09:09:14 PM
well I got the one s3+ mining by flashing the cgminer at 441 GH/s!  but I still can't serial connect to the other s3+.  I tried paperclip jumping from TX-RX on the serial-USB raspberry cable but don't get any echo.  with some combination of connection of cables to the debug holes I can type but can't reset the controller though it has a red light.  maybe it's not fixable, it was mining fine until I powered off during firmware update.

I've opened 2 bitmain tickets and they tell me to serial connect with an adafruit cable.  I don't know if my cable is an actual adafruit or a copy.  so I'm not sure why I don't get echo when I type into putty or the window doesn't allow me to type.  when I connect RX and TX without ground to the s3+ I get a stream of nonsense text

Opening multiple tickets really will not help.  One ticket is better as it shows all the work in it.  Depending on you location bitmain does have a phone number for some countries.

But if your are honestly having that much trouble you might ask them about buying controller board.
8231  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 1Ths Dragon Miner Raspberry PI Firmware on: July 14, 2015, 09:06:20 PM
al sorted out, thx for the help.

one last question,
I can set the difficulty in thr gui of the miner, what does it need to be for example f2 pool.
if i look at my dashboard at f2 it does not reach 1 th/s

greetings

It does not matter what you set it to for most pools.   It will automatically pick difficulty based on your speed connected to pool.

So yea set it to 256 or something.  But you will be fine it does not matter.   Also might look into antpool it has PPS at 2.5 percent vs f2pool 4 percent.
8232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 14, 2015, 09:02:16 PM
So much for that the buy button on the S5 Meltdown series works again at the time of this post. oh well I guess no S7 or S6 yet.

For what it's worth I have yet to see a meltdown.   I know with my batch 1 I have had time without internet.

I guess it could be do to external fan's in my summer mining area, or luck.   But I wonder if the meltdown effects all or some.
8233  Economy / Services / Re: OPEN SPOTS [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: July 14, 2015, 02:51:16 PM
Spots are open.

Anyone can apply for a spot by changing their signature and making an enrolment post. I will then PM/reply to each request made as soon as possible.

This way of manual approving members is only temporary until a solution is found using the bot.

Why make it temporary? If you did it this way you could automatically deny people with poor post history, thus cleaning up your campaign in the process. It's because people don't check users first that they post crap and when this goes unchecked and they realise they're getting paid to post crap the quality gets worse and worse.

I would imagine it being there is X amount of BTC to fund and amount of users that want in would go over that (especially with DaDice stopping it's sig campaign).

Also it allows time to go through and weed about the crap post's with no one else joining when it's closed, so cleaning out I would guess is easier.

It is not new to only allow X amount, most good sig campaigns do it.   Just like your PrimeDice they closed it to all but staff.  So they did not leave open for every single person.   It's a business decision.

And I can't speak for Bit-X so above is a guess take it or what a guess is worth.
8234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: lost my s3+ after WAN, WWAN, LAN IP changes, need to ship soon? on: July 14, 2015, 02:33:34 PM
I have 2 raspberry pi serial-usb adapters but with the 3 debug holes do I connect the soldered male connector pins to the cables white, green, black (left-right)?
I am getting some response from the putty window on the parameters set on 115200, 8, 1, n, xon/xoff but can't get it to reset or reinstall the firmware?  I don't think I'm getting echo, sometimes I type and I get strange characters different from typed

If you have it set up send a ticket over to Bitmain: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us   They can help with serial to usb.

I know they have a guide they send out for it, that I don't think I've seen posted on here ( I could be wrong on that).

Also can you take some pictures so we can understand your wiring better?  A picture just makes it so much easier then words describing it.
8235  Other / Meta / Re: Cloudminr.io is selling his database with some real proof on: July 14, 2015, 02:27:08 PM
Not against the rules, no.

Is your problem that it happened, or that you don't trust the person who did? Would you still expect action taken if it were someone you know and trust?

If allowed my fear is someone claiming it is for good "to stop hackers" and just collect accounts.   I'm guessing a list is made of usernames and passwords.   I guess I don't like the idea of someone being able to claim being a good guy when making a list of accounts and passwords.

And what would you suggest be done about it? Say "no, you can't do it"? Not going to stop anyone is it (good or bad)?

I guess it's true.  I can see how it's a crappy situation no matter which way you go about it.

I have been thinking about it but everything seems to have a downside.  Best would be able to run a script that looks for emails/username in database and changes password if on it, and emails a reset password email.  But the big problem is the people who did not use a real email.  So causes a headache still.

I guess noting can really be done except hoping users start to use different passwords.  Seems to be only easy/simple way to keep this from happening.
8236  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 7pence per KWH electric any good? on: July 14, 2015, 02:19:17 PM

I can get 7pence per KWH electric is that any good for doing a little mining as an amateur.  Not looking for any serious money just hopefully make a little profit, dip toes in.  Whats a good starter miner?

Its not horrible but it's also not the best at around 11 cents (if my math is right).    So you really would need a decent deal on a miner.

Also with saying "pence" what country are you located in?   I have a feeling you might be in a country that vat or import taxes kills mining.

Im in UK and that is my electric rate over night, yeah about 11 cents, based on what you say i dont think its worth my time to get into it.  Just want to do it for a bit of fun mostly.

If you do it for fun and learning then it is worth it probably in terms of knowledge and experience. I bough a year or more ago a block erupter miner for some fun mining. The power consumption (just like the hash rate xD) was minimal, but due to some luck it paid back. And I got to keep a tiny little cool USB miner.
I also managed to set it up with a raspberry, which was a nice learning experience as well.

It all depends on what your looking for.  I agree mining even with using usb stick miner is a good way to learn about bitoins.

As far as usb's coming to market you might check sidehacks stuff - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=995675.0  .

Hey, another roumor is that S5 will cost $600 soon.

Bitmain representative does not confirm this directly, but also does not disprove it.  Huh From his words I can conclude that BTC/$ ratio will be even higher soon...

For lack of a better term how high up in the food chain is the rep?  If it was low level I don't see them knowing.

But if from higher up.... then maybe some possible good info.  I hope the rep is wrong though whoever it is.
