Is there a way to attach a pdf document or could a user provide me with a means of how to send around a research article.

Upload it to a free hoster like mega [1] and post a link.

<a href="file.pdf">C:\Users\UserName\Desktop\Providing Appropriate Legal Framework to Current Cryptocurrency Architecture.pdf</a>

ok this doesn't work

No this will not work as we have no access to your computer. You should be glad this is not working.
8342  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Pasword forgotten, but I have the wallet's archive. on: November 27, 2014, 06:57:04 AM
You could bruteforce it. If you remember enough about your password it might be possible. There are also services for that. Most specialize on bitcoin-core, but I think you can find someone for electrum as well.

thanks, I'll check this.

8343  Economy / Services / Re: Silver Wallets Signature Campaign on: November 27, 2014, 06:49:05 AM
It's not open to new members. In fact, the terms are coming to an end shortly for existing participants. The op and thread title should probably be changed to closed seeing as its not quite clear.

Not sure if OP will even read this, I wrote a PM as my period was over yesterday and have no answer yet. While Im not concerend for now, since answers might take some time. I also saw that OP was last active 23.11.2014.

Is there anyone else that can speak for silverwallets and might be able to change the topic / handle the payouts?
8344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Install BTC Wallet For Faucet? on: November 27, 2014, 05:44:35 AM
Hi everyone.

Description: Im building a btc faucet on my Ubuntu 14.04 machine and ive never installed anything to do with btc on Ubuntu before.

Dont do that.

Question: What do i install for the wallet system bitcoin core?

Add the Bitcoin Ubuntu PPA repository in your Ubuntu
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin
Update package lists
Code:
sudo apt-get update
Install bitcoin-qt
Code:
sudo apt-get install bitcoin-qt

Just copy and past the code into terminal and you should have the latest version of bitcoin-qt.

If you prefer not to use a PPA you can download the latest linux client from here:http://bitcoin.org/en/download.  Just decompress the .tgz file and you've got the latest version of bitcoin-qt.
8345  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Pasword forgotten, but I have the wallet's archive. on: November 26, 2014, 06:54:43 PM
thanks, but if i don't find the paper, can I do something only with the archive?

You could bruteforce it. If you remember enough about your password it might be possible. There are also services for that. Most specialize on bitcoin-core, but I think you can find someone for electrum as well.
8346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: please help ! im noobie on: November 26, 2014, 06:11:28 PM
Alright now i understand what you are saying. I chosen https://bitcoinarmory.com/download/  wallet since it lightweight so i can  use the money straight away. Whats the next step?Cheesy Thanks for the support !. I know my grammatic is bad Sad

It was multibit a few seconds ago. Armory is not lightweight, it will require a fully syned bitcoin core.

Ill just give you some time to think abour your new wallet instead of writing something that is completly wasted because you decided to change your mind.
8347  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do you protect your wallet and backup file? on: November 26, 2014, 05:51:05 PM
Also, if someone could answer my above questions it would be much appreciated!

Not sure.

-snip-
So the seed is enough, just if I use electrum?

Yes, with electrum the seed is enough.

Not with other wallets right, because not all have the option of seed?

I cant answer that for all wallets. Some have seeds, some dont.

Should it then be good to save the private keys or just the wallet file?

Usually thats no difference, but this depends on the wallet you are using. E.g. Multibit has a file for all private keys and an extra file for each individual private key.

I am using Electrum as a cold storage solution. But my wallet, is in a folder. And inside the folder, is the wallet file. Isn't electrum password based? Because you need to type a password when you want to transfer bitcoins to another address.

I dont know what "password based" means. Electrum requires a password to unlock the private keys it needs to create a transaction for you.

I want to password protect, or encrypt the whole folder,

Why?

so before I access the folder, I will have to type a password or even two. That would make the security level go up a bit.

What exactly do you think this would protect against? Either someone can access your private keys or not, the rest does not matter. Or at least it does not to me. I dont know you or your surroundings. I can only guess why it would be bad if someone that has hardware access to your machine and knows the passwords needed to boot, unlock the encrypted disk and log into your user account would also know how much bitcoin you have. If you have none of the mentioned security mechanisms allready its better and easier to set them up instead of "protecting" the folder, which is possible but most likely a pain in the ass regarding comfort.
8348  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Pasword forgotten, but I have the wallet's archive. on: November 26, 2014, 05:38:42 PM
Hi, recently I opened a wallet from its archive (the last time I used this wallet was 6 months ago) and I sent funds to it, everything OK till now.
But I didn't remember that for making a transfer I need the password, and the fact is that I don't remember it.
What can I do? I also don't remember the seed but I think I have it in a paper.

Find the paper, create a new wallet, select restore from seed option and set a new password.

Thank you in advance.

Ffs im just trying to get this done quickly.

Danny allready told you what to do. Choose another wallet [1] that does not need the full blockchain, export the correct private key from bitcoin core into the new wallet software. If you need help with the export import process, write again after you have decided for a wallet.

tx
can i do this in blockchain?

"in Blockchain"? This how its done with bitcoin core.

Are you using blockchain.info as a wallet service? I dont know how a transaction works on their service, but I hope its similarly easy.
8351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Make a lot of transactions on: November 26, 2014, 11:10:46 AM
I am not sure I can follow you:

"send" -> "Inputs" (if coin controll is enabled) -> paste BX -> select amount to send -> click send -> enter password

PS: im internet gibt es sehr viele die das gleiche problem haben ohne lösung

Dann nehme ich an Du hast den bug report auf github [1] gefunden.

Quote
@rebroad Your database is corrupted. It is not going to magically become uncorrupted ever. Unfortunately we don't have any leads on how your database became corrupted but this is not a behavior which is generally happening to other people. Unless you have some ideas on how to further bisect down why you've had this problem there isn't anything else I can do except recommend you reindex.

His trust explains enough, he makes random assumptions.

He is doing a terrible job. He shall be removed. It's like putting a 5 year old in front of a big red button that says "Blow up the world". Not the best idea, right?

I am asking for justice and for the best of the forum.

Thanks,
Candy

I agree, all that trust-spam "scammer, gives unreasonable negative trust" without reference and insanly high amounts of "risked BTC" should get the user banned. I just wonder why you would ask for your own ban, just change your password and go.
8355  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Bitcoin v0.9.3.0 64bit Fork Error on: November 25, 2014, 07:19:31 PM
Eingehende Verbindungen bekommst Du nur wenn Router und Firewall richtig konfiguriert sind und Port 8333 durchschleusen. Das ist also erstmal normal.

Was die korrupte Datenbank angeht:
- Virus scanner der dazwischen funkt? In der Blockchain liegen Virussignaturen die ggf. gefunden und gelöscht/geblockt werden.
- Ggf. sind die Daten die reindex benutzt beschädigt. Da hilft dann nur neu runterladen
- Einige Berichten auch das reindex manchmal ein paar Durchläufe braucht (2-3)
8356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP: Database Error on: November 25, 2014, 10:48:30 AM
Make sure you have enough space and your anti virus soft (if any) is not messing with the raw blockchain data. There are some virussignatures stored in there, but thats not an actual thread.

If the database is not working, you have to rebuild it. Since this only needs CPU time you dont actually have to redownload anything. In order to let it rebuild you either accept the promt with "yes" or you run it with:

-reindex [1]

in order to sync faster you should use a fast node in your area and only connect to that node. See the list below.

run bitocin core with

-connect=IP where you replace the IP with one from the list.

Code:

Once you are dony snycing start bitcoin core like you usually would. While its possible it makes no sense to connect to more than one node as only the first is used for syncing.
Should you for whatever reasons have to redownload the entire blockchain, use the torrent [2].

8357  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: November 25, 2014, 06:48:39 AM
News about new campaign coming soon! It'll be a lot more cleverly organised to ensure the forum is not spammed. We will not allow obvious signature spamming accounts to join and all posts by people who sign up will be moderated by Primedice and not just the forum staff. We hated what we did to this awesome forum when our campaign got out of hand, and there is no way we're doing that again.
^^Additional news regarding the PD signature campaign. We could see the campaign open back up very soon

As hilarious said, soon by PD time might be years, considering the time to launch PD3

And its not saying anything. Its so vague the only thing I can read here is: we will make a new campaign, sometime in the future and we want to prevent spam.

I don't want anyone to access the wallet file, except my self.

Use your own machine (e.g. personal laptop noone else is using) and use full disk encryption.

Id like that, mayve the new and improved BadBear can make it happen?

Yes, his version has updated, Now it is v2.0 . Wink

Can staff(s) see the reports or just Global moderators and admins or just admins? Huh

   ~~MZ~~

No idea, but I suspect that only admins with database access can query that list.
