Any concern regarding sa merit distribution ng ating local?

I never face this situation. Until now, I thought Electrum doesn't push any pop-up for updating a wallet. How a user can identify if it's the fake link or the original wallet? What exactly will be the message from the official pop-up? How can we distinguish between both the fake one and the original one? Please share a little more information. Thank you.
.. snip .. If you are interested in what a false message looks like it is displayed in theymos post 9+ months ago when he post warning about this Electrum vulnerability. Electrum vulnerability allows arbitrary messages, phishingOr this new updated warning, lol, Electrum 4.0? Hackers are very clever indeed: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ibb.co%2Fg74Vzq6%2FScreen-Shot-2019-09-13-at-1-46-41-PM.png&t=663&c=sWMKnHZXxOibdg)

Let me quote: Privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age. Privacy is not secrecy. A private matter is something one doesn’t want the whole world to know, but a secret matter is something one doesn’t want anybody to know. Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world. - Eric Hughes in a Cypherpunk’s manifesto in 1993Kaya hindi ako naniniwala na “I don’t care about privacy, I have nothing to hide” attitude.

It looks like Coinbase has quietly settled 60 bitcoin to a victim of a phishing attack Robertson lost his Bitcoin in a spear-phishing attack, when the email account of a firm in which he was investing was hacked. 60 of the stolen Bitcoins were then diverted to a digital wallet that was held by Coinbase. Another 20 were sent to local exchanges. Roberston then received a Bankers Trust order to reveal the identity of the wallet holder and to see whether it was the same person who made the transfer. https://cointelegraph.com/news/coinbase-uk-settles-lawsuit-with-victim-of-email-phishing-attackI can't find anything on Coinbase blog but I received this news from my feed. The victim here is CEO of Alphabit Liam Robertson. It could set a precedence but we will see, I don't know if this is the first of a kind that involves huge trading platform such as Coinbase.

i think the american government is more likely to indirectly target mixers by implementing "know your customer's customer" standards like those seen in the FATF travel rule. basically, they'll pressure services to blacklist non-complying services like mixers. anyone who doesn't fall in line is at risk of adverse government action. the exchanges police themselves.
Right, they going to like "flex" their muscle again, maybe ala BTC-E seizure most likely in the future. Interpol/EUROPOL also have this sort of mentality as in the case of Bestmixer.io last May. I suggest everyone to brace yourself next year about this new regulations and policies. Maybe some exchanges will stay in their ground and try to protect themselves, but which pressures coming at all angle, just a matter of time before they succumb. And it will create a lot of mess, maybe exchanges will run to a supposedly safe haven countries, who knows.

@figmentofmyass - I think FATF just made a recommendation about sharing informations across all exchanges. FINCEN is in charge of "enforcing" Travel Rule. BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) of 1996 was amended in 2012 to include all electronic funds transfer. I'm assuming it includes crypto and the threshold is $$3k or more. I think crypto mixers falls under the definition of VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) and also includes exchanges. So I don't know if they are going to comply with this new rules or take the risk of being shutdown. I guess there will be no privacy here, as the guidelines states that originator and receiver should exchange information. And the thing is, there will be a something to validate everything, a certificate authority (CA) to protect the communications between VASP. https://ciphertrace.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/TRISA-Enabling-FATF-Travel-Rule-V4.pdf

It looks like there are more hype in this fight as expected. Spence-Porter FOX Countdown Show Drew 604,000 Viewers An Errol Spence Jr.-Shawn Porter preview show drew more viewers Saturday night than some main events televised this year on basic cable and premium cable. (photo by Ryan Hafey)
According to Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday, an average of 604,000 viewers watched FOX’s live airing of “PBC Countdown: Errol Spence Jr. Vs. Shawn Porter” on network television. The 30-minute program aired on the East Coast late Saturday night, following FOX’s live telecast of a college football game, Penn State’s 45-13 win over Buffalo, that aired in prime time. https://www.boxingscene.com/spence-porter-fox-countdown-show-drew-604000-viewers--142428This is big numbers I do hope that it will reflect on the actual fight and draw close to that numbers as well. It means that boxing is still on the mainstream although we don't have Mayweather as top US boxing attraction. I doubt that will translate to PPV buys, nobody really cares about Porter to be honest, people had high hopes early in his career but he never really reached his full potential. Now he's slightly older and has been beaten odds of him being great are pretty low. TBH, even Errol Spence isn't that big of a name, not too many people care about what happens in the lower weight classes, unless it's Canelo. Let's see mate, his numbers if I'm not mistaken was around 360,000 PPV vs Mikey Garcia. Fury vs Wilder is around 325,000. So probably doing 400,000-500,000 PPV is not bad after all right?

It's been confirmed that is has been exploited already: We've confirmed instances of the CVE being exploited in the wild. If you’re not on the following versions of either of these implementations (these versions are fully patched), then you need to upgrade now to avoid risk of funds loss: * lnd v0.7.1 -- anything 0.7 and below is vulnerable * c-lightning v0.7.1 -- anything 0.7 and below is vulnerable * eclair v0.3.1 -- anything 0.3 and below is vulnerable
We'd also like to remind the community that we still have limits in place on the network to mitigate widespread funds loss, and please keep that in mind when putting funds onto the network at this early stage.

But so far wala akong makita mismo sa blocnomics.
Sinasabi sa article na i connect nila ito sa "larger market of Southeast Asia and the world."

Kovalev is done, he is way past his prime here. I was not impressed by his win against Yarde last August. Has still the same weakness from body shots. We all know that Canelo regularly throws body shot so I'm not seeing something special at Kovalev at this stage. Just his belt and I'm sure Canelo will win by either KO/TKO here.
So we could just say he is doing this for the money? Or he could be a hopeful boxer to revive his career despite the age. Canelo only lost one which was with Floyd and that it. I even think he won that fight. But its certain Canelo is the top fighter who beat the hell of the big names in boxing. Lol, boxing is a business, of course everyone is doing it for the money. I'm not taking away from Kovalev, he has done great throughout his career. If you look at this contemporaries, Hopkins, Andre Ward, Jean Pascal they are all done in their career at this point. He is facing Canelo here, at this prime and has all the advantage against him. I advise everyone to watch the full fight, not just the highlights of the knock out of Yarde.

What is Fractional Reserve Banking?
Fractional reserve banking is a system in which only a fraction of bank deposits are backed by actual cash on hand and available for withdrawal. This is done to theoretically expand the economy by freeing capital for lending.

New Phishing Campaign Uses Captcha to Bypass Email Gateway Phishing threat actors are using Captcha methods to bypass automated URL analysis. By using Captcha techniques to prove human presence, the phish prevents the secure email gateway (SEG), in this case Mimecast’s gateway, from scanning the URL thereby enabling the threat to get through. Here’s how it works. Ok so it looks like cyber criminals have found a loophole again by hiding their bad intentions through Captcha. To summarised: [1] Unsuspecting victims received a phished email, saying that you have a new voicemail with a message preview, to attract the attention of the recipient "Hey you have missed my call earlier.." and then it cuts. Now, human psychology tells you to go and click because you are interested on what this voicemail are. [2] Once you click that embedded voicemail hyperlink, it will redirect you to a Captcha code site. Of course, (SEG) or secure email gateway can't scanned it for malicious content. And you can't tell it's a phished attempt on you at this point. [3] Once you completed the Captcha code, you will be redirected to the "real" Phishing site. So it can mimic anything in this case, Microsoft account selector and login page. And once you input your credentials, done cyber criminals have all your info and your account.
