841  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Bitcoins.lc] Issue with invalid shares (10 BTC bounty) on: June 10, 2011, 12:12:05 PM
Hi!

We're having serious problems with invalid shares (mainly duplicated work!).
I'm looking for one or more people to help us solve this issue asap.

We have a bounty of 10 BTC for a solution that works and permanently solves the problem

Please contact me on IRC (#bitcoins.lc) or info@bitcoins.lc
I'll provide any information necessary.

Some general info:
* Invalid shares are to 90%+ duplicated work
* Using latest git version of both bitcoind and pushpoold
* MySQL (MariaDB (Aria)) storage for shares
* Lates memcache + dependencies from apt-get (Debian Squeeze)
* 32 bit OS.

We need help asap.

Regards, Jim

First thing(s) i'd suggest:

  • - Grab the stable releases of both bitcoin and pushpool
  • - How fast is the harddrive? If it's not writing to the database quick enough that might be causing stale shares
  • - Move to a 64bit os

PM me when your online I can probably help.
842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine from behind a firewall with most ports shut. on: June 10, 2011, 12:02:07 PM
Hi there, I am a graphics guy and we have 10 OS X graphics boxes here at work. The only thing is that we are behind a firewall Sad
And IT wont open any ports.

I'm just wandering if anyone knows how I can GPU mine from behind a firewall??? I was able to run bitcoinplus.com but that is CPU only and is well useless.

I have tried Diablo with mining.bitcoin.cz but it fails to log in.

I think it might be a problem with getting through port 8332 but like I said IT wont touch anything.

Any advice would be well appreciated.

Smiley Huh

Eligius has port 80 open for mining.

Bummmmp.
844  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ozco.in - New Australian Pool on: June 10, 2011, 09:26:51 AM
I like the Idea and want to use it but the front page is so buggy that I can even register an account. Makes think that if the front end is this bad what is the back end like.
what browser do you use?
we thought it more important to get the backend setup and running correctly so we did that first.
as i said in original post "website still under development" - please be patient. Smiley

thanks for the feedback Smiley

Do you want this added to my miner gui?
845  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Beta 3 Released! BitMiner - Advanced Mining GUI on: June 10, 2011, 08:41:07 AM
It starts now, ill have to wait untill tonight to test if mining works with it.
Question though. do you need to run several instances to have it mine on more then 1 gpu?

Nope, create a new profile for each one, then in the poclbm tab, change the device number.
846  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: best rate for mh/s from single card? best rate you've ever gotten including oc? on: June 10, 2011, 07:56:14 AM
340MHs on a 5830.

Core 1030 / Mem 340 Stock volt, air cooled. Using Phakt kernel, Worksize 128 fastloop off

63C Shader Temp with PCIE slot base Frequency upped to 102mhz and an ambient room temp of 71F

Unstable after about 3 hours, so bumped down to 960 with the same memory and am getting a stable 288MHs.

NICE! What brand was that 5830?

No. If anything it will decrease it.
850  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Join a pool or mine by myself? on: June 10, 2011, 04:05:41 AM
need more info like how many mhashes you actually have.

I'm going to say don't mine yourself because you probably don't have much.  The difficulty is high and it will only jump higher soon.

Since I'm still playing with speeds and stability I'm not too sure of how many mhashes. I have two 6970 and two 6950 crunching right now.

Pool.
851  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 2 x 5970 only getting ~350 mhash/s ea, help? on: June 10, 2011, 04:05:05 AM
Setup 2 5970 and only gettinf ~350 MH each, hardwarecomparison on the wiki says 600-800 ?

what im running:

Win 7 x64
2 x powercolor 5970 - NON Xfire with dummy vga (OC to 850mhz)
catalyst 11.4 (but the context menu says "AMD VISION control center"
SKD 2.4

Phoenix 1.48

C:\BitCoin\phoenix-1.48\phoenix.exe -u http://address:password/ -k poclbm DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=7 platform=0 worksize=128

C:\BitCoin\phoenix-1.48\phoenix.exe -u http://address:password/ -k poclbm DEVICE=1 VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=7 platform=0 worksize=128

aggresion 12 makes it to hard to debug atm, will use it when its goin properly

thanks in advance

Try using the phat kernel instead.
852  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New Release! BitMiner - Advanced Miner GUI - Beta 2.1 on: June 10, 2011, 04:04:06 AM
Bump. Beta 3 will be release in a few hours. Ran into some trouble updating the text from a different thread, all good now.

New features:
- Statistics page showing network stats, as well as your overall mining stats.
- LOTS of bugfixes.
- Fixed an error in custom pool code that bugs out when you try to connect to a long hostname.

- RELEASED!
853  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: best rate for mh/s from single card? best rate you've ever gotten including oc? on: June 10, 2011, 03:28:37 AM
760 million hashes/s on a 5970

Which is exactly why I didn't think it was profitable Tongue

honestly i make profit from mining.
i am more concerned the pool works and helps strengthen the au btc community before strong opposition appears.
if the pool breaks even i'm very happy.
if it helps with the above goals i'm wrapped Cheesy

855  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 6950 - GUIminer / poclbm = "warning: job finished, miner is idle" on: June 10, 2011, 03:07:21 AM
Figured it out.

You need to add flags to the  Miner console

-v -w128 -f60

In the Extra Flags: section.

Hope this helps all of us new miners!

-f is the desktop framerate you want. If it's a dedicated mining desktop, set it to 1. I normally set mine to 20 and my computer if perfectly usable.

IE. Lower desktop framerate = more mh/s.
856  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 6950 - GUIminer / poclbm = "warning: job finished, miner is idle" on: June 10, 2011, 03:02:29 AM
So I just installed a 6950, installed ATI and OpenCL drivers.  I get the same error when trying to run either GUIminer or via command line poclbm;

2011-06-03 20:47:01: Running command: poclbm.exe --user=XXXXXX --pass=XXXXXX -o localhost -p 8332 -d0 --verbose

2011-06-03 20:47:15: Listener for "Default" shutting down

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

You sure your backend bitcoind is working? Try mining with a pool for an hour and see if the same thing happens. I doubt it will.

860  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Advice on PSU and rig planned 690Mhashes on: June 10, 2011, 02:03:10 AM
Hi!

I'm planning to build my first rig. I was wondering if this build was legit.

HARDWARE
ASRock 890 GX Extreme 4 AM3 w/ 3 PCI-E 2.0 slots
HIS H695FN2G2M Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity X 2
XFX PRO750W XXX Edition Semi-Modular 80Plus Silver 750 Watt Power Supply
AMD Athlon X2 245 2.9 Ghz AM3 processor
2 GB Crucial DDR3 1067 memory
Western Digital Caviar WD800BB 80GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I plan to overclock the cards and underclock the cpu. I also plan to boost the 6950 to unlocked 6970.

Any tips?

Should be ok, but make sure you get the 6950's that are the reference model, else you won't be able to unlock them.
