The first step is writing a driver for it.

Big cashout today, should be the last for a while. So I expect to see an upturn in the market over the weekend.

The one guy I know for sure that's selling fresh stock on Amazon is 419 Mining, and it's FBA so Amazon does warehouse.

My only general sales outlet is a single eBay listing. If you see them anywhere else (including Amazon), or any eBay listing that's not my "factory direct" lot, it's a reseller. I'd guess upwards of 90% of 2Pacs were doled out by resellers.

The market in general is pretty bad. We were moving upwards of 400 per week (700 before Christmas) until about March when the bottom dropped out, and now I'm doing good to sell 200 a month. Not really surprising since, objectively, they're not that good anymore.

This stick isn't as good as I was hoping. The hashrates are great, but the new integrated controls package is taking too long to iron out the kinks so I rolled it back to a dummy stick like the 2Pac was, which means my guys can get back to manufacture instead of busywork and it buys more R&D time to work on controls. I haven't heard back from Innosilicon in about a week, hopefully it's just because they're busy doling out new gear, but I'm hoping to use their new chip on the next gen, with full instrumentation, before much longer.

No preorders though, at least not from me. I've only taken in preorders to raise money for an initial batch and that after prototypes were completely proven. I have the budget now so I won't start selling until they're stocked for shipping, which will be end of the month at best. There'll be an official announcement sometime.

Five sticks, same power draw as stock 2Pacs.
846  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITTECH Announces New 28 TH/s ASIC on: August 16, 2018, 05:40:23 PM
I sure hope NODEhaven doesn't turn out to be a scam, because I'm working with them on design. For the record, I specified compensation in the form of chips once they're available, so they better pull it off.

But I don't know anything about BITTECH.

Piad that big ol' invoice just a bit ago, so normally I'd say we've hit the bottom and y'all should start buying but it occurred to me I'll have to cash out some coins in the next few days for a big PCB purchase or two so the exchange rate might not start to rebound until about Friday. Sorry, the squeeze is still squeezing.

Flat shipping within the US, yes. Small orders would be negotiable, but for big'ns I'll cap it at a flat ten bucks.

The sticks are all tested at stock speed, but notably have higher-than-stock power draw. You'll want to take that into account.
849  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 17.2TH/s, 1570W Innosilicon announces the most powerful and efficient BTC Miner on: August 12, 2018, 05:20:30 AM
My only sales tactics are "price reasonably" and "present all pertinent information, accurately". Smiling is for people whose products can't stand on their own.

I don't really have a buying tactic though. Just, you know, ask for stuff and see what happens. Don't really care if the salesman smiles at me, as long as what he's selling doesn't suck. And I'm guessing Inno's chips don't suck.
850  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The Squeeze is comin! [official thread for panicking] on: August 11, 2018, 02:51:54 PM
Why, is your luck that bad too?

The first time I had to cash out for a big project was February 2014, when I first got started and had zero money. Remember when that Gox bubble burst? Stalled a server supply breakout project for almost a month before I caught a brief spike and sold without losing too much.

I have no interest in deliberately crashing BTC. The opportunistic market jackoffs buying in would be the only ones to benefit, and the rest of us who actually work for a living will keep getting screwed. I'd like to see it back above about $8k and actually hold steady for a while, but stability will only happen when bitcoins are used more as a currency than as a stock. Margin sale profiteers love that volatility for their short-sighted gains, but that cripples confidence in reliable spending power necessary for the long-term economy.
851  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The Squeeze is comin! [official thread for panicking] on: August 11, 2018, 06:09:34 AM
No, because when some miners shut down the difficulty will drop and the remaining miners will get a larger proportional reward, thus retaining profitability. There is no price so low that the system will stop working entirely.

Also, to everyone who's ever thought I was joking when I warned friends that the price was about to tank because I am, as a rule, on the losing end of every market shift, two days ago I was told first of next week I'd have a big invoice to pay in BTC. So expect the price to keep going down until about an hour after that invoice has been paid, and I'll let y'all know when to buy in at the bottom.
852  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: August 11, 2018, 06:07:02 AM
More than likely, the issue is resistance internal in your hub or meter. The chips will draw the same amount of power (and therefore develop the same amount of heat) regardless of the input voltage.

If you can afford to drop $150k on gear, you can probably afford to drop another $10k on electric.

It was fun watching all those fresh edits pop up throughout the day.
855  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: August 10, 2018, 02:51:01 AM
Probably, yeah. You should see 11GH (WU of about 150) for every 100MHz if everything's working right.

I can't say whether they will or won't sell chips yet, but they're talking with me, so that's good news. I'm hopeful.

$16 times however many fit in the bucket of your choice, plus shipping.

Buckets.

No, no sell orders. If I was that worried about profits I'd have gotten a different job ages ago, but greed is not among my motivations.
The majority of my BTC savings, about 90% of my capital at present, were taken in when coin was well above $10k. I think I can out-of-pocket what I need for a first batch of something new without having to dip too heavily into BTC savings, and hopefully revenue from the first batch would more than pay for the second and so on. And then when BTC goes back up after a while it'll start to cancel out all the ridiculous losses from Christmas season sales at $15k.

One of the good things about hosting others' miners instead of mining on my own is I'm insulated somewhat from the spikes. I get paid the same amount every month regardless. Hosting just covers building overhead though, not payroll or R&D or anything else.
860  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why is the hashrate going up while price going down on: August 08, 2018, 04:39:57 PM
And for those of us more in the bitcoin marketplace than mining - that is to say, the people who use bitcoins as a means of exchange for goods and services (you know, a currency) rather than an investment platform or whatever, the volatility and price dips absolutely suck. If bitcoin had no utility it would have no value, but the speculators driving the swings looking for short-term profits are crippling its utility.
