841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 04, 2014, 10:02:11 PM
Nearly every coin out there has no real reason for demand anyways. No shops etc.
Only fancy logo, nice name, morale & confidence boosting dev, good marketing etc.

Now that we lost that initial momentum due to CT, it's VERY difficult to gain it back.
Only real way to get it back is BTC-e IMO. I doubt Cryptsy will make as good impact.

Bumface, have you got any info from CT on when they are coming back?

yeah UTC had great momentum, then some lag and 2 hacks....but thats in the past....im giving it a major injection in a few months when i get some asics..until that time i will use 30000 utc to make things happen

Im still a believer and Ive been holding my UTC. Is there anything you need from the community? Would be great to see it on BTC-E and Cryptsy.

i want to have somebody make an informational video

Plus, being on a decent, trusted exchange brings an air of legitimacy to a coin. I don't think cryptsy will "save" the coin, but I do think it will bring volumes, the volumes that haven't been seen at mintpal and the other exchanges.

it will be good, but that, and price are things i cant control...i am in regular contact with a dev there and they are well aware of UTC

My vote would be # 4. / and 5.

There are several other coins that have tried auctions and it just doesn't work.  I'm sure someone would buy a 486 processor for UTC, but it's hard to get good products listed.

If doing a traditional store, as I mentioned;  you could easily import certain items, buy certain items on ebay and even have special items acquired during certain superstore sales.   Possibly you could conduct a survey of items people would wish to purchase, but most likely you would have to be able to maintain none to minimal stock.  There are many things out of china that can be bought in small lots; which have a decent mark-up in the states.
A small example is the little cigarette lighter USB plug-ins.   You see these a lot in the States at gas stations and such for 4-5 dollars;  delivered from china these are about 1.40.  Solar panels, batteries, chargers, inverters and many other things can be purchased like this I suppose.

Many people on Ebay currently purchase items on sale at superstores like newegg.  These are sometimes 20-30% off normal price.   There are quite a few powersellers on ebay that, list these same items @ newegg price after the sale is over.  This would allow "special" items to be listed in a market;  camera, PC component, audio, etc.

You could have no stock and just drop ship items; however that would limit price, location and possibly delivery times.  As well, you would need to find 2-3 distributors willing to sell single quantities.  Worst case you'd have to buy lowest retail price, but again limits volume relative to pricing.

dunno, just thoughts

You're right on all of this. I'm not able to run something like this on a day-to-day basis - I can build a site and maintain it, but don't have time to deal with sourcing and delivering product (I also have a company I need to run). So if anyone is interested in partnering on something like this, let me know. (I really haven't made any decisions yet, though, just thinking out loud. I really appreciate all of the help you all are giving).

making it peer to peer is much less work to maintain then an actual store selling products.....i think this is the route to go...

i think we should integrate a user that is UTC official.....then we can offer things like the usb stick somebody suggested.....i will then source these things or other partners.... then "the house" can offer products, and the profit go to benefit the development of utc
849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 04, 2014, 06:57:50 PM
About the store yesterday, what kind of products do we/dcgirl want to sell?

Does anyone know www.banggood.com? No its not a porn site Wink

Its a chinese webshop with a really broad product line, they also have interesting wholesale options, there are much e-Bay resellers using that.
I've ordered there many times and had always a good experience and communication with them, maybe their products could be sold by the UTC-Store?
Would be the first customer, its one of the cheapest source for Arduino/Quadcopter/LED things Wink

Second idea would be USB-Sticks with SMOS/BAMT preinstalled for mining UTC and mining hardware like powered riser cables,
that would be at leased things people would need here.

I received a number of PMs yesterday with ideas:

1. Image hosting/sale - this would be the easiest, but most costly to implement (because of hosting fees). Nice because it would be all online (no shipping product), user to user. I'm thinking about approaching various existing image hosting sites to see if they'd be interested in accepting UTC as a payment option.

2. Auctions - not hard to implement, but several existing crypto auction sites have shut down recently, seems risky.

3. User to user marketplace - also not hard to implement.

4. Traditional retail marketplace - best long-term option, need to figure out supply chain piece, would need a lot of day-to-day support. I'd do this if someone was willing to take over that part of it (deal with suppliers and provisioning/shipping), split the fees.

5. Specialized marketplace - this could be anything - the idea of selling "preconfigured" miners for UTC would be a great idea. Easy to implement, would need to partner with someone that could provide the miners.

Other things to figure out - pricing: price for product in UTC (time of sale, daily average, etc.); other coins to accept (UTC only, discount for UTC, BTC, etc.); how to handle returns (I don't even want to think about that).

i think a simple route would be best, such as a peer to peer item selling platform.where you are able to select a distance range aswell. basicly ebay for utc but small.

Just believe that you have no serious contact and keep silent to keep miners inside and holders keep believing.

We talked yesterday about developing a store for UTC (thanks to everyone that sent me ideas). I'm thinking about doing this, but before I do, will need some questions answered:

1. Are the developers willing to interact with the community and discuss concerns about n-Factor and the POS schedule? Ziggy seems to be absent from the community, if a technical person isn't involved, this coin's future is in doubt.

2. Is any other development going on? If so, what is being developed and what is the time frame for that development?

Doing development requires quite a commitment. Before I commit to this, I need to feel that it will be worth it.

You may have notice ziggy has a backseat role in this, sort of like technical support...I am currently discussing the possibiility of a shorter pos reward update with him.

There are other developments such as a donation website that xwebnetwork is building, and a chatbox on http://ultracoin.net/...al my BTC assets are frozen until mid year so until that time i have 30000 utc for promotional activitys and bountys for services.

In the short term i am continuuing the email campain to news outlets....some have already responded positively, duch as http://bitcoinmagazine.com/

"Thank you for reaching out! I have cc'd our team of writers to take a look.

Best regards,"

so i would say there is plenty to do,since my time is limited i will soon delegate some tasks to people willing to help.We have seen how strong the UTC community is in the mintpal campain, and the twitter activity to cryptsy.

We would welcome your marketplace, and perhaps there are tasks here that you can delegate to others to lighten the workload..

LOL we all wanted Mintpal because Bumface cant get it on cryptsy!!

So now where there?? good times Smiley NOT!!!!

@bumface: Start talking to Vernon and say your sorry for all the banning and insults on BTC-E and let hem PLEASE PLEASE add ultracoin!!
Pay the guy if you need to or UTC will be at grond zero this week

i have absolutely no idea what you are talking about? insults banning on btc-e? i am a fair mod, and everybody who comes there knows it....

The best Mod tbh (not brown nose)

Can we please stop this ass-licking business and focus on important details please?
This is the kind of thing that will not bring us any farther than we are, to the contrary. We need more, we need strategy, neither idiocy nor reverences.

Now bumface one question for you:
Have you tried to push UTC on cryptsy?
-If not, what are you waiting for?
-If so, is this indiscreete to ask you where you at?

I/we believe you tried to approach them. So avoid turning in circles. Just say it right.

im in contact with a dev, thats all i can do.

I don't know your plan, bumface but look arround and I just think how can UTC survive with all the dumper. Do you think this coin can live until 2015?

absolutely
857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: March 04, 2014, 10:44:22 AM
this coin is made not to be a useless hypecoin or meme.....its in the original post,we are aiming to be an actual currency when all these hypecoins have faded away

It's clear that we do not have many TALENTED people here.

Just a lot of people with fluff ideas or complaints. (that includes me also)
We need people with useful skills for dev/marketing/designing etc.

So how do we gain those people? We need to make our voices heard first.

My Facebook promotion idea was to hopeuflly gain some fresh new blood into UTC & crypto.
We already have over 3000 UTC to promote it to at least 500+ people. That is not bad at all.
Who knows, maybe some genius developer who never took interest in Crypto might join us!

Don't just spew fluff ideas with no backbone. Do something first and then let us know to support/help you.

@bumface - Can you start a new Ultracoin Bounty thread here? We need NEW blood. NEW developers. Is ziggy even involved anymore?

I could create a store - the thing I can't figure out (because I've never done it before) is how you source products. If someone can hook me up with that, I could do a utcstore.com.

we should have a micro ebay- type store, where people can sell their own stuff for utc

Wonderfull to see how the community is pulling together in a cryptsy twitter campain  Grin

Ah, Bumface is in the house! Question for you - do we have any chance at getting on Cryptsy? We could really use your insight.

yes, it would be good.We just need 1 stable exchange that people trust so the community can bundle together. lets not forget: before the lag on crypto trade we were doing 285 BTC volume per day on UTC/BTC + 14000 dollar on UTC/USD
