An Idea of two new sites in NXTunity.
Hi everybody,
I have not seen any sites like "bitpay" and "localbitcoins" in the NXT community yet.
I think NXT will grow a lot if it's possible to be exchaned in any local curremcies arround the world and can be used to pay merchants in their local currencies.
The good point is that we have many nations in our community and with a good management that is possible with very special NXT features, we can join together and even form a virtual company on top of NXT and build "localnxt" or even "localcryptos" site or "nxtpay" or anything like those.
I'm myself can arrange to help in UAE(Dubai) and Iran to be a local buyer or seller.
Just an idea, That personally can help to comes to reality.

BTW, when will you folks release the source code?
When the code is released, I would like some way that will make cloning by FrictionlessCoin either illegal or difficult (put some bugs in it) I hope so too! Not because i am against clones, but because this stupid-fuck is missrepresenting us... I don't think this will happen and nor should it. If dickheads were banned from using technology, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford would never have been in business. Restricting the code would restrict everyone. And second: who would decide who COULD use it? You can't get more centralised than that. Not saying I like it, just saying you would initiate some highly undesirable developments. |

This is a plea for help.
I sense that you've logged more hours than I have in EVE. I've played more WoW than any human should be allowed.
Either the WoW dev team, or the EVE team (I think it was EVE) before game launch hired a respected economist to dissect and audit their in-game economy.
Before we move forward, this really needs to be solved. We don't want Weimar Republic, Zimbabwe style hyper inflation with toilet paper shortages and a common iron shortsword costing a character 100x his monthly wages.
So in-game currency <-> NXT or a separate PoW coin, burning etc -- this is critical.
It's critical because we ignore our relationships, our hygiene, and our careers in order to game. Gamers making sacrifices and using NXT make this the number one issue with Nxtopia right now.
I'm done dicking around with asset and resource spreadsheets for tonight, I need to find that EVE/WoW economist interview.
I have played a lot, but haven't come across this before. Sorry. I sense that we are becoming feature creeped at the moment, and it's beginning to affect the discussion. Is that a shared sentiment? Maybe it's time to split efforts in separate directions: one going towards a first attainable plan, and on the other hand to keep brainstorming. It's still very new, but we now have ideas to work for years! How's the idea to start planning on the one hand and keep gathering ideas on the other where both efforts feed each other? This is the stage where normally writers would start on very rough first drafts to make sure they don't stay in "dreaming" stage. Nothing set in stone yet, but a first draft would give some structure. |

Woah, woah, woah. I want to call a time out here for a few pages.
I'm not trying to be the Grinch here, but I STRONGLY think we've got to get a better handle on this whole process before we just start handing out NXT left and right to ANYBODY.
The infrastructure spending thread has been open for all of about 36 hours. Already we've got 9 projects in the queue and only 23 posts in the thread - less than 3 per project. There is NO WAY we have given the proper amount of deliberation to what is being proposed here. And a vote is being called for already if we haven't achieved agreement as a committee?
Um...what's wrong with this picture?
I am a big believer in spreadsheets to collect all the data in one place and if ever there was a need for them, it's right now. We need to generate a standard spreadsheet listing who is asking, what their project is, how much they want, and a link to a thread that talks about their individual project. Just for starters.
We need to establish a rule that nobody gets a vote on their project for at least a week after they've proposed it to avoid the exact kind of rush to judgement that is happening here. I would personally prefer at least two weeks, but I don't want anybody to think I'm TOTALLY crazy...
I also sort of thought there was gonna be some kind of vetting of people putting their names down for committees, where they would have to put in at least one post describing why they thought they were qualified to serve on a committee, what they wanted to accomplish there, blah blah blah, and um....we might actually VOTE IN A POLL to pick the top 5?
Instead it's just put your name down as a candidate and you're in? On as many committees as you want?
So how is voting for funding going to work in a group of people like THAT?
Hey, I'm all for rapid progress but we've got to establish some kind of initial setup and standards here and PACE OURSELVES FOR THE LONG GAME or this bounty of NXT is going to be gone in a FLASH.
I say forget about voting NXT out of the treasury for at least a few more days and lets go back to setting up the committees themselves and the "paperwork" that defines the process we are about to embark upon..
Was wondering when this would come. Agreed, of course Someone already proposed subforums and separate threads for each project to facilitate discussions. That seems like a good idea, so the to be formed committees have an easier time of it. The run up period will also give the projects now in the threads time to gather material to present to the committees to support their claim for funds. That's what normally happens when you apply for funds and I see no reason why we shouldn't do it the same way. |

yes, but we are talking about an professional solution for e-commerce that benefits everyone and we will be sure this will be deliverd on budget on time. So we are talking about a total of 100K? I just want to make sure I understand Edit: just saw Damelon's post. Hey, if the committee is ok with it, I am ok with it. Never hurts to get ecommerce professionals having a bunch of NXT. Just make sure we get ALL the modules we need You have my garantuee on that. You also have my garantuee that all of it will go to the devs and none to me. @Damelon: can u confirm that your proposed branding guys will be retaining much of our current typography/logos ?
Be good to get a few more guys together now, producing promo items/swag, but if logos are gonna be changed that could become wasted effort.
The current logo is a given. I've told them not to change it, as there is no need, we already use it, and it's good. They will play with it, of course, but we should keep using it. |

Oh, I agree with the fact that people need goals. On the one hand I loath "Achievement" systems when badly implemented, but when done correctly (ie. in line with the game context) I admire the grace of such a simple but effective idea. Ánd I fall for it everytime. Quests, assignments etc. are important. However, I also like them to be embedded in some kind of story. It's the difference between "Slay n X's to advance" and "Safe my village by exploring the Unholy Cave of Nrgrn!", in which you álso slay n X's, but also are presented with a nice narrative to identify with. Seeing as we have some DM's and D&D players here, thinking up some nice storylines to implement should be doable Indeed. I love stories and story-telling. How can we incent the scripting of such a story? Any ideas? It should be an incentive that would encourage the scripting of good stories even after the start of NXTopia. What about crafting stories as AE traded items?, could a "story" be quest?, The author issues it as an asset, and it costs 1-10nxt for the gamer to embark upon, with the chance to win NXT and prizes, the admission fee goes to the AE, for funding the quest payouts and the shareholders. so if you craft a GREAT story, and lots of people want to battle for your Prizes, your AE makes money. The nature of assets, is they are transferable, so if you LOVE a certain quest, you can buy shares in it, and maybe earn NXT in the real world. and you could back a good story teller with his next story. The quests could even be their own games, that you play by logging into certain servers. Some are free, walk around town, slaying wild dogs, asking people for news from far away lands, and the harder quests could be decentralized, some fee, some free, with the user deciding on how they wish to play, risk ad all that.. This would encourage great story tellers, who would also have to craft great items and prizes. So awesome if this was all DIY and decentralized. Riffing here, but you could issue a Battle Royal Asset / Quest, where people all come and fight with great prizes and total inventory loss upon dropping. You could go in and fight, you take 80% of all items you win, the Battle Royal Asset retains the 20% Just WOW! I love the idea of stories/quests being Assets! This will keep me awake tonight |

The project means paying for one person to do coding for about a month and one person running a dedicated server for a longer time. I was going tot contact you about this already. I was happy this was also possible, and was hoping to get total to 100,000 nxt. That way they would get ~ 2000 EUR in fiat each, which is a more normal sum, for developing multiple modules. I hope this is possible. If not, I'll understand, of course. I hope Pin will confirm we had this discussion in PM. BTW, I didn't tell my dev this. This was my decision. Just want to take care of the people I ask |
