842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Sound Money? on: February 08, 2018, 01:05:17 PM
The bitcoin vs gold debate has raged on in investment circles since bitcoin has entered mainstream discussion among increasingly interested investors. Gold has been used as a form of currency and trade for thousands of years, and certainly has a track record for reliability and preservation of wealth. However, as the newcomer onto the scene, bitcoin may be the kind of financial and technological breakthrough to to challenge gold as the monetary kingpin.

Early on in its life cycle, seasoned investors began questioning the legitimacy of bitcoin value and debating how such a commodity could hold intrinsic value. What differentiates bitcoin from a mere collectible and what makes it similar to precious metal assets such as gold or silver? Among many circles, especially gold bugs and older-generation investors, bitcoin was not considered a valid investment up until very recently.

Which factors of bitcoin instill this validity of investment?

Watch Video
Gold known as the noble metals, "noble" because they stand apart, barely reacting with the other elements which is important for criterion of a currency. Gold has been using as a form of currency for a long time but it is not the same for bitcoin, we have been buying bitcoin, what do we have besides that. If we buy gold we have physically the gold itself which makes it strong, but currently we have xxxdigit cyripto numbers when we buy bitcoin. Will this be enough to secure it?

844  Economy / Speculation / Re: Selling Bitcoin on: February 08, 2018, 12:52:18 PM
I'm a week into this whole bitcoin thing so be easy on me. I wonder why you would ever sell a BTC ... For example: you buy 100 dollars worth of BTC but the price drops drastically. Why would you sell it when its that low? You KNOW it's going to go up again. You could wait a month (for example), the price will be up again. Or am i totally wrong here?
Try to ask this question your self...ıf you need a money what shall you do? Of course these people can think this but keep in mind if you scarce of financing, as you are aware I am sure that so many people around selling their assets to invest in bitcoin or borrowing from friends, banks institutions etc.
845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is recovering! on: February 08, 2018, 12:48:31 PM
Everyone is shock with this price drop from $19,850 in mid-December to about 6,000 to 7,000 recently but then it is now recovering.

I suggest to visit this website for the latest update about BITCOIN.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/bitcoin-price-live-updates-latest-exchange-rate-south-korea-trading-ban-us-dollar-china-value-usd-a8196621.html
It collapsed this is true but it is not recovering in my point of view, recovering means a huge correction for the last move, last move was around 13kUSD and the correction is 1kusd this means it might go down more, be careful...
846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple founder has sold all his Bitcoin on: February 08, 2018, 12:44:47 PM

847  Other / Meta / Re: WARNING ACCOUNT HACKED: NEWGUY05 + HOMETOKEN = BOTH SCAM on: February 07, 2018, 10:11:40 PM
Mysteriously? User was removed from the bounty campaign when the user received negative trust and as mentioned before has never posted in our ANN thread until highlighted by your goodself

If we are able to hack accounts for promotion, we'll have more users in our bounty campaign.

How many people accused us of being hackers beside you? None.

Nonetheless, it's useless arguing and we'll let admin investigate thoroughly and decide.

We have also made our own report against you to moderators.

hacked newguy05 was posting every day spamming threads with multiple posts to pretend  to be legit promoting this scam, until i raised the issue and you responded stating you had nothing to do with the account being hacked. Then on the SAME day, newguy05 also stopped posting and never resumed. coincidence? yeah right.

Since you deleted my post in your scam hometoken thread - on how even the basic due diligence doesn't add up. I am reposting it below, everyone can make up their own mind. Your ico essentially can be summarized as giving you money to do as you wish in a country with no enforcement, backed by nothing but fluff and copy paste google articles.

----

This hometoken is clearly a scam, you must be batshit crazy to give them any money

1) The website and white paper is just cookie cutter fluff copied from google without any real info on the actual ico, after you cut through all the bullshit in the white paper/website , it can be summarized as:  give us your money, we will use it to buy some real estate in malaysia, and the cashflow + appreciation will make your token worth more.

2) There is no legal contract, no registered company, all those supposed employees are nobody and even then their linkedin profile never mentioned hometoken (if this is so legit, why none of them list it in their linkedin profile). Only this andrew yap who is suppose to be the founder has hometoken in linkedin - a 20 something kid that sold car insurance as his credential   - yeah i am going to give him money.

3) They take your money and can do whatever they want with it, even if they did buy real estate, and by some miracle the properties purchased is cashflow positive or appreciates, what makes you think they will tell you that and give YOU the profit?  There is zero accountability, once they have your money, you have no option whatsoever given it's all in malaysia - a country with little to no financial laws or enforcement.

4) Another sign is they keep promoting about hometoken being on all the legit financial websites like marketwatch - specifically for a news release regarding the $3 million pre-ico funding received by hometoken

   A) Anyone can make a news release and have it show up on those websites as press release feeds - it was written by hometoken themselves and put on those sites, it was NOT written by the legit websites. Same as tweets are not created by twitter the company. The fact they heavily promote essentially their own bullshit as legit news from those websites is another big red flag.

   B) Also where is this proof they received $3 million pre-ico funding, where is the audited bank statements by the big 4 accounting firms confirming the money is there?  It's all bullshit.

5) Also consider the fact even if they are completely legit, real estate investment is extremely difficult given the initial principal required and ongoing upkeep.  Only a small percentage are cashflow positive. Do you really think this 20 year kid who sells car insurance has the depth and expertise to be successful AND will actually give you some of the profit if it indeed works out?

The list goes on and on.  As i said you must be nuts to give them money - much better odds at vegas.  I work in 1 of the big 4 ibanks on the street for 15+ years in risk, and as a real estate investor for majority of my adult life - 20+ years.  I will bet the farm this is a 100% scam.

At least if this is a US registered llc you have some recourse, but it's not.  You wouldn't loan money to strangers in asia, so why would you do it now?  just donate it to charity instead at least you get the tax write-off.

Hey come on, I am holding this account, it is belong to me. Do not blame people this is not fare. I do not have to prove anything, this account and all belongings are managing by me. One guy arise and give me a red trust, is that easy?

Awaitning your response...

(Due to my business I do not have spare time that much to write everyday, time by time I have been posting, just fyi)
848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why all coins are going down..? on: February 07, 2018, 09:54:35 PM
why all coins are going down..? can i sale it or hold.
9 February have been waiting as each year, due to the Chinese new year I guess they need some cash. This is a joke of course but the most of the giant holders of cyrpto currencies start selling them, when their target level reached they will start buying again.
849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Senate hearings on Bitcoin on: February 07, 2018, 09:41:43 PM
It's happening today.

Virtual Currencies Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Jay Clayton and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chair Christopher Giancarlo testify at a hearing on virtual currencies.

Airing LIVE Tuesday, Feb 06 10:00am EST on C-SPAN.org

https://www.banking.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/hearings?ID=D8EC44B1-F141-4778-A042-584E0F3B9D39

It's going well:

"DLT is likely to have a broad and lasting impact on global financial markets in payments, banking, securities settlement, title recording, cyber security and trade reporting and analysis.24 When tied to virtual currencies, this technology aims to serve as a new store of value, facilitate secure payments, enable asset transfers, and power new applications." -The Honorable J. Christopher Giancarlo

This is a very positive news on media, supporting bitcoin, nowadays there is few news like this, so many news in media but most of them is negative in my point of view. This is something different. they directly focused on cyrpto currency that is good.
850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin saving. on: February 07, 2018, 09:37:50 PM
Saving bitcoin is one of your choices, this decision has to be done by you only because you have the variables, you know your alternative investments and logically compare them risks, returns, time value, ROI etc. As each people has different character also each has different investment decisions.
851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I Invest in Bitcoin in 2018? on: February 07, 2018, 09:34:16 PM
For investing in bitcoin in this year would be ok if you can study technical chart very well. The reason for saying this is for setting an optimum bid price to enter. It depends where you buy and secondly you have enough time if something goes wrong that you have not planned before in the long run you make profit. the only thing is nobody know the timing.
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Worried about btc future on: January 27, 2018, 07:46:40 AM
I see a lot of optimism about bitcoin, which is understandable seeing the price recently.
But I have to admit I'm a little worried about the long term future of btc.
The major problems if the currency still haven't been dealt with. I see 2 major ones:

-Block size. Which makes the delay and fees of transaction rise very fast. Smaller transactions are more and more difficult to make.
-The centralization of the market. China got low cost electricity, which make them by far the most bitcoin mining capable.
-And maybe others that I'm not aware of.

Another thing: The Hard forks that are oddly getting much more frequent than before. (BCH, BTG, Segwitx2 etc...) It almost looks like "attacks" in order to divide us. Now called "airdrops" by the community. Even though they're supposed to solve some of the problems.

All in all, this makes me really worried about btc future. I've been a strong holder since 2014, and I made quite a lot of money with bitcoins, but I begin to doubt now, even though the price is crushing ATM. Please help me keeping faith. Or should I switch to another currency ? Really thinking about ETH recently.
The LN would be an accelerator for the btc future in the long term but it is still overvalued in nowadays. For the centralization Canada is coming for the Chinese miners shifting there.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be more profitable in the upcoming years? on: January 18, 2018, 05:47:57 AM
So 2017 proved to be the best for the bitcoin till now but still the great Officials of many companies are busy in predicting the greater roadmap of btc in 2018 and so on so will it be possible for bitcoin to go more and more high ?
Everything might be happen but nothing can rise breathless needs to be give a break. Not only in bitcoin also eth and the altcoins they valued a lot in a very short time, needs to be stabilize than it might start again.

860  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price prediction on: January 09, 2018, 10:44:16 AM
Bitcoin slumped as much as 17 % to $14,820, the most in more than two weeks. Bitcoin prices are decreasing, with all of the top 10 by market cap falling, and most tumbling by at least 10 %. Bitcoin is little changed this year after surging about 1,400 % in 2017.
