841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTBc] The most profitable alt coin to mine is... on: August 10, 2014, 07:19:56 AM
still 801 users, that is odd?

Weird. I would expect many more users this time.

Haven't been paying much attention to it what was it before
Anyways 800 seems like a decent amount.
842  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE - 1,150 TH/S HASH RATE (1GH/S per Unit) on: August 10, 2014, 07:15:56 AM
Sorry for being late to the party about this, but here goes anyway.

Does anyone else find it strange that they used the term "reverse split"? A reverse split increases share prices and removes shares from circulation.

Or that the split resulted in 14 shares instead of 15. Either they are very clever or incredibly stupid. They can do whatever they want anyway, because most of us are too damn stupid to realize when they are digging in our pockets...

I think a while ago some people mentioned that it was a stock split and not a reverse split but people forgot about it.
843  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ebola outbreak linked to secret Monkey Meat trade on: August 07, 2014, 06:54:23 AM
Makes sense
Advisory given to those living in that country on what not to eat.

Ebola: Avoid, bats, antelopes, monkeys, Ogun  warns residents

He warned residents to desist from eating antelopes, bats and monkeys that he said had been confirmed as veritable carriers of the virus.

His words:  “There are two cases of health workers, who had contact with the Liberian victim. They have been isolated and we are monitoring them.We are appealing to the residents not to panic.”

The commissioner also warned residents of the state to avoid contact with people from neighbouring countries, whom he said, had established cases. On the handling of the Ebola cases, Soyinka said health workers in all council areas and at the state level had undergone training and sensitisation on how to handle the deadly disease.

Soyinka also advised residents to observe hygienic lifestyle by ensuring that they washed their hands after each day’s activities.

Summary

Don't eat the strange meat and wash your hands

846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you store >100 Bitcoins? on: August 07, 2014, 06:47:28 AM
Not that I have that many (I wish!), but how would you store >100 Bitcoins? The easy answer is just to say "create 1 offline/cold wallet and put them all in". But what about risk management? IE how do you store a very large value of coins while managing risk against hackers, forgetting passwords, the obvious need for at least 1 hot wallet, portability, easy of use, house fires, EMP bomb's (lol), or if a foreigner had to flee a country while taking no assets etc etc.

I'm looking for real responses and ideas. Please keep the trolling to a minimum Tongue

848  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it legal to sell bitcoin in person for cash? on: August 07, 2014, 06:43:47 AM
I was wondering if its legal to sell bitcoins for cash in person using localbitcoins?  I think it would be if I declared all income on my taxes. I wouldn't be a money transmitter as I would be receiving or giving the cash directly/in person. What are your thoughts on this?

Sure your not a money transmitter, unless you make a big business of doing it.
Otherwise its just exchanges and barters.

850  Economy / Securities / Re: MPEx securities discussion thread on: August 07, 2014, 06:12:23 AM
The only asset really getting any volume is the exchange itself. Their volume is so fake its like shitting a brick and telling someone its a brick of gold. Not to mention that their site is currently down right now...

Make sure you are going to the right site, the new website is mpex.ws.

Quote
Not to mention that Mircea either pays / operates several accounts on this forum that are known trolls. Why would you trust your money with a troll? I would rather trust my funds with Cryptostocks than MPEx  Roll Eyes
Their site also needs an update... For 30BTC a head you would expect something looking a little nicer than a 1990's era UI

What you'd rather trust a nice doge coiner with slick modern Ajax and see the underlying sink from 300 satoshis per to 35? That critics are mean is not a useful counter critique.

For the record Mircea has paid many reliably many times before for a number of purposes, but not for posting on this forum.

Well, they did in the past employ MPOE-PR to post on this forum. But that was an open arrangement know to all.

now he pays to see tities Grin

So this was a fake thread right
But I guess if it was real would spend it to grow personally and perhaps help others grow themselves.

Possibly but perhaps not
It would take out most technology though but one secure node can repropigate the network again

858  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please tell me if my computer will be ok for mining or not on: July 31, 2014, 02:23:47 AM
Unless your computer looks like this...

I would forget about mining. As pictured above, bitcoin mines are now reaching industrial scale.

That's a nice looking mining farm, does it cool with liquid can't tell much from those pictures
Still sexy

Oh thanks Tammy Chan (Kawaii namae)

His company, MegaBigPower, has invested over $1 million into two warehouses that feature hundreds of mining rigs running side by side on dozens of racks that stand seven feet high. It consumes 1.4 megawatts of power - enough to run a small town. It currently relies on huge fans circulating outside air to cool the rigs. During a recent visit, it was 30 degrees outside and 102 inside.

"I don't even know how many rigs we are running; we are expanding all the time," says Carlson. Each mining rig is valued between $5,000 and $6,000 and relies on the Bit Fury processor that has been custom-engineered to run the algorithm Bitcoin requires.

"The business plan was designed at $50 Bitcoin," says Carlson. With Bitcoin now trading near $650, that's quite a profit if it's converted into dollars.

What Do Philosophers Do and what type of jobs do Philosopher get when they graduate ?

They teach Philosophy
Perhaps  they also act as a conscience to a Politician as well and try to consult to find the correct moral action towards issues regarding people and welfare.
