841  Economy / Gambling discussion / What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 04:38:31 AM
As a gambler, from when I leave the house down to the casino prior to getting there I normally project specific amount that should I probably hit am turning around to leave for home immediately. And am quite sure am ain't the only one who have for one  had this plan thought wrapped in his head, some persons might have too.

Just in case, what amount will be looking like a nice hit for you to leave a casino just immediately for maybe your first, second or third hit on the machine as you have just walked in?
842  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 21, 2023, 09:02:41 PM
If you able to manage working and gambling at workplace altogether then good for you  even though that doesn't mean it is that so simple for others to manage it that way too. There are people that can quickly get carried away that they use extra work time to continue in their gambling at a supposed time when break should be over, and because not everyone has the ability to manage it all together in good thats why organisations frown against gambling at workplace and abhor workers who would want to mix work with gambling because it will most likely affect productiveness of the worker no matter how they may try to be in control of how they gamble.
Fun is necessary at workplace but not with through gambling there's high possibility of a loophole for low productivity no matter what.

Not only gambling but also other activities that can distract an employee in attending to his work.  Aside from that, the company sees it unfair to see their employee using their working time for gambling thus, if the employee is caught, the company will impose a penalty or punishment to the guilty employee.

Aside from that, some employee are unable to control their emotion and when they lose their gambling activity, their performance in their work is affected resulting in getting agitated easily or making errors and mistakes with their work.  The efficiency of these employees becomes lower thus, the company is losing as a result.

If we value our jobs then better to remove all distractions and perform at optimum so that the company will feel that they are right in employing us and probably will think of giving us a raise.
For an employee that gambles at work be it break time or not, the simple caption is that such employee doesn't take his job serious and important to him and what he rather priotize is the gambling over his job, and I be his employer I would relieve him of his job so he can go home  and have more time to gamble.

Gambling and work can't romance cordially it's either the individual would give more attention to one than the other it can not be balance which turns out to be a loss to the organization because time meant for work would be divided by interest leading to low productivity, mistakes on the job done due to non concentration and others.
843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 21, 2023, 08:07:47 PM
We must know before this match takes place, not many make them as favorites, and even some are very confident saying Arsenal will win. But all that can be answered, especially after they can lead 2 goals in the first half. Entering the second half, Arsenal began to realize that this was not the Chelsea they had seen, and were lucky enough when they could equalize to make the match end with a draw.
The match ended as draw, but Chelsea played a fantastic ball today. I wasn't surprised with their performance, I was expecting a draw in the match, but most people had confidence in Arsenal to win the match due to their impressive performance this season and Chelsea's poor performance this season. But I saw improvement in Chelsea's performance, and I knew the match wouldn't really be an easy one for Arsenal. Chelsea could have won the match today, the first goal that was scored by Arsenal was caused by the Chelsea goalkeeper's error, and it motivated Arsenal, and they were able to score the second goal. If the mistake wasn't made by the goalkeeper, Chelsea would have won the match today, but a draw is also bad for them because most people weren't expecting a draw in the match.
Chelsea wasn't supposed to draw but win that match with the expected performance of their game today, possessing the game in both half's leaving arsenal with no shots on target for 75 minutes not until when Chelsea's keeper made the costly error to what I would refer to as put of overconfidence.

And it wasn't just the first goal from arsenal that gave them the momentum to start pressurizing Chelsea but rather it was the wrong substitution made by the Chelsea coach in the second half substituting Sterling, Palmer and Moudryke was the wrong decision. How do you remove a trio that have been able to distablize and constantly penetrating the arsenal defense just because you've conceded a 1 goal you opted to remove those players and bring in defender's, and that was how arsenal took advantage of the game.  Anyways, I won't deny that the game was very entertaining and both team did give in their all for the game.
844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 21, 2023, 04:17:40 PM
Actually, Everton played quite well because they were able to hold the score at 0-0 with 10 players from when Ashley Young received a red card in the 37th minute of the first half until the 70th minute of the second half. And in the 73rd minute, Mohamed Salah was finally able to score a goal with a penalty kick, after being reviewed by VAR and awarded a penalty.
And Mohamed Salah scored the second goal through an assist provided by Darwin Nunez in the 90+7 minute, and the score ended 2-0 for Liverpool and currently leads the standings temporarily.

I don't think that Everton really played well, but all they were doing was defense, and I really credit them for that, but apart from that, I don't see anything special that I need to hail Everton for today's performances. Liverpool was the team that dominated the pitch both in the first half and second half, and it was because of pressure that Liverpool was given  Everton, which led to the two yellow cards Everton player received and resulted to red card and been sent off the pitch. But I think if it was not because one Everton player got a red card, I believe it will not be seriously easy for Liverpool to win the game or the game would have ended up in a draw, or it may just be one goal by Liverpool.
The Everton team's defense played well in this match and it must be admitted even though they lost by 2 goals, and even Liverpool seemed to have a little difficulty scoring goals even though an Everton player was shown a red card in the middle of the first half.
However overall, Everton did their best, but the opponents they faced were a team whose quality was far above theirs, so it was only natural that the Everton team lost this match.
Did the Everton team really had a good defense in this match? Because going by the stats of the match Liverpool had 77% ball possession, 26 goal attempt  this doesn't speak well of a good defense  it clearly meant that Liverpool missed many creative chances that was supposed to be converted to more than 2 goals they were able to score in the game. The excuse would be that Brighton player received a red card which made them to play with short-one yet Liverpool dominated the game  and won as they should.

The next game we anticipate for is the game between Chelsea vs arsenal it's really going to be electrifying and intriguing because it's a derby match that fans await with pride. I wonder what anyone think could be the scoreline.
845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 20, 2023, 09:55:48 PM
I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.
Completely true, If gambling is done during work, it can certainly have its effects. When you are regularly involved in a job, you will lose focus on your work while placing any new bets. Your mind will be in one place where the work output will definitely be hindered. If you lose a bet at that time your work will be affected the most. Every month when you lose the bet after receiving certain amount from job then you have to spend the whole month very badly. You will be tensed for money. And work performance cannot be expected at that time. Gambling should never be done on the job hour as it may affect personal life.
Not all gambling activities will have a bad impact on work there are times when someone is on break from work and they gather with fellow co-workers and do several gaming sessions to entertain themselves and calm their minds due to busy work.
I have also played several games during my breaks at work and it is true that they can provide fun when the work I have to complete is complicated.

However it all still depends on how we manage our time and can work professionally so that we don't let the gambling we do affect the work we have to complete.

This is football, the impossible likely happen, ofcourse I've seen surprising results over time and Chelsea versus Arsenal match, I strongly believe the Blues will have their way against Gunners.

Yes, it is possible for Chelsea to win Arsenal according to your statement that you said impossible things are likely to happen in football, but truly, on normal ground, if we are to compare the performances of both teams, I think Arsenal is the favorite team to win the game because Arsenal is really doing well currently, and even from the last two seasons now, Arsenal have been beaten Chelsea, but maybe tomorrow the story will change again and Chelsea will win the match.
The match between this two London teams have been the talk of the town in the EPL throughout the week that's because it's a derby match and these kind of games are hard to predict who's going to win. But in this case judging the performance of the team's we can attributes consistency to the arsenal team right from last season and still to this very season they have been superb on the pitch with astonishing results. While Chelsea had a bad performance last season one people do refer to as the worst season for Chelsea so far and this season they have been unstable as water with their performance but in their last EPL matches there's been a great improvement counting on the results of those games in their favour.

The EPL is all Chelsea has a focus on and they will be giving  all they have to see that they won the match against Arsenal side who have a UCL tonolay on Tuesday 24th October so they might wanna manage and rest a few important players against their UCL game so that can clingy a win against Sevilla haven lost to Lens. Artheta in my opinion will wanna gamble this match against Chelsea to prepare more and  secure 3 point in the UCL the week to qualify in the group stage. So am giving it to Chelsea to win that match tomorrow.
847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey Bitcoiners Choose Simplicity Over Complex Technicalities on: October 20, 2023, 09:22:49 PM
An example of keeping things simple is that instead of storing your Bitcoin in a multi signature wallet that you do not understand how it works or have no experience in setting up, store your Bitcoin in a soft like Electrum wallet where the process of setting up is pretty straight forward.
It is worth knowing that wallet like Electrum can be used for multisig setup.

To learn about bitcoin wallet is not what is hard. I prefer multisig than single signature wallet on online devices. It is safer.
using a multisig wallet is something that increases the level of security of wallet and funds but it can turn out to be a disaster for an individual, a newbie who for sake of wanting to level up his wallet security chose to make use of multisig wallet Just to later encounter the technicalities involved and making a mistake that could cost him his funds eventually. If I have so much money to protect that much I'll simple make use of a hardware wallet if am not comfortable with using a single signature wallet.
848  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 20, 2023, 08:11:21 PM
Low income or limited salary will not be a big problem in meeting the family's main needs, you can still meet various family needs as long as you can manage your expenses appropriately. Allocate money to items that the family needs every month, such as basic food items, children's education costs, electricity and water. Always avoid spending money on things that are not really needed in order to save some money for other needs.
Managing your finance to cover your responsibility and family needs is subject to the popular saying, "cut your coat according to your size", and this is one popular statement that many people haven't sat down to grasp a deep meaning of it. Some people when allocating money monthly for basic needs they expend on quantities that they don't need which before the need arises for it it has gotten spoilt or rotten, example is sauces, condiments and cereals in large quantities than needed.

Another example of people not cutting their coat according to their size can be found in the area of education of their children. Registering/admitting your child/ward in schools that school fees are far above your paycheque when other basic needs money has been subtract from salary the amount left can't meet with but for bride's sake that a neighbor's child is attend a certain prestigious school you also insist your child also will without considering your salary.

Quote
Apart from that, if you don't have another source of income, you can use your free time to work on the empty land around your house, start planting various kinds of plants such as tomatoes, chilies and other vegetables. By having produce from your own garden, you can increase your income and save money on shopping for kitchen needs.
It seems we have more lazy people now in the world than we use to in those days of agrarian society where almost every home have a garden they plant a few crops for groceries use. And it helps so much in reducing expenses from going to get those items always from the market. I have a little space at my backyard I plant varieties of crops I know family will be needing regularly for cooking use and it has been supportive.

850  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: October 20, 2023, 12:39:38 PM
It is true, everyone is entitled to living his life as he want as long as it doesn't cause discomfort to the next person around or family but for some people they have knowledge of this right of theirs but for sake of family they willingly put aside that right to live their gambling life a secret from the family. Not that they get afraid of family reaction about it but they don't want any thing that will shake the boat because of them.
And that has been done by many people, who tend to do what they like without caring about what others say. And that's why some people still hide their gambling activities because they don't want anyone to say many things about them, so they just want to hide it. And they are also very clever at hiding their gambling activities so that no one knows about it, and they are free to gamble. But this requires better self-control because they can develop a gambling addiction that will make them lose all their money.
People that can thrivingly hide their gambling activity from family and it's never noticed all through the time of hiding, for this set of people it's very unlikely that they fall into addiction capitalizing on the premise that for anyone to be able to hide their gambling activity they should be responsible gamblers and a responsible gambler must be someone  of self-control and that's why the can't develop gambling addiction. It's not easy hiding something like gambling from close persons like family and if you're clever enough to hide it such cleverness should also extend to how you spend money on your gambling.
Hinding bad habit like gambling and linking it to being responsible is a slippery slope. People who are good at hiding what they're doing from close family members dont necessarily have self-control in all parts of their life. We should not confuse hiding with being responsible. Usually, people who hide are aware of the possible outcomes or judgments they may face.
You're not getting it mate. Hiding a bad gambling habit is absolutely different from hiding your gambling activity because you don't want family or friends to know you're a gambler. The purpose for hiding it is what makes the difference: you are hitting on hiding a bad gambling habit while the I emphasized on was about hiding from people close to you the knowledge about you being a gambler because they might not be I'm support of gambling and that you're hiding it as a bad habit you are battling with.

Quote
Further exploring the human behavior, we find countless instances where individuals, proficient in one domain, falter in another. When it comes to problems and issues, gambling is especially complex. The internet can be even more tempting and addicting. When people think that being good at hiding means they have control over their gaming costs, they are missing the real problem, which is the nature and effects of addiction.
I am not discrediting the fact that humans don't have control in all domains of life, at least they have control and proficiency in parts like you indicated. And for anyone that's good at hiding his gambling addiction and together have control over his habit he can't blend into addiction. Mind you, gambling do addiction affects both those that chose to hide or make known about their gambling activity if theirs a lack of self-control.
851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: October 20, 2023, 11:31:05 AM
When it always comes to using online gambling casinos, there's a secured means on ones privacy to the public but not to the casino because they have all our details with them and they can only choose to reveal them or not at their own wish, women that love gambling can also make use of their mobile device to gamble with their privacy being maintained and no one knows what they are up to in gambling, considering that not all women will like public appearance while gambling.
I think it all depends on where the woman lives.
Like when a woman lives in a country that permits gambling businesses or legalizes gambling, it won't cause any problems if the woman goes to an offline casino to gamble or gambles online in an open place and there won't be any bullying because the majority of people already understand about gambling.
But if a female gambler lives in a country that prohibits gambling, perhaps online gambling is one of the best ways to cover up her gambling activities because if she is caught gambling in a public place or gambling in front of other people, it will definitely be considered unlawful and usually female gamblers in that country almost perfectly hides her personality and it is almost invisible that she is a woman gambler because women can always keep any secret under wraps.
I do support your position @tusandii,  the socio-cultural environment has much to do with how well women engage in gambling  in any society. Take a look at the USA or Australia women who in these places don't have to disguise to gamble or hide their gambling activity from neighbors or friends because the environment has normalized the activity for both genders and people's perspective towards gambling in these countries are not same with that of other countries where gambling is tagged in the opposite as those countries I earlier mentioned. So women in the societies where gambling is not that embraced for women to be part of, their reliable alternative becomes online gambling since they will be shamed and called names if seen offline gambling as a woman gambling.
852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No scam sportsbooks on: October 20, 2023, 10:56:50 AM
Does anyone know any bookmakers with a wide line that are not scams, it doesn?t matter whether it?s a crypto bookmaker or a regular bookmaker like bet365 alternative  ?
With the many suggestions about different sport bookmarkers from the replies you have gotten so far am not sure I'll want to add to your burden of choosing from all the suggestions by adding one or more sports bookmarkers. I just want to say this, that apart from looking for a scam free sports bookmarker let me also drag your attention to a few keys things you might be ignoring that might be of added interest for you to consider. While you may not be thinking of it right now you may be needing it later as you will inevitably encounter it later as a gambler here so you don't start complaining you didn't knew.

After your selection of the sportbookmarkers that interest you, also look into their:
1. Deposit limit, some of sportbooks have high deposit/withdrawal limit.
2. What they charge players that withdraws in bitcoin
3. Do the they support certain altcoins that may be of alternative interest to you.
You can still DYOR for more things to look out for. Goodluck in your search.
853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ban from a Casino for Nothing Other Than Winning Too Much Money on: October 20, 2023, 09:57:44 AM
Also, no matter how big a gambler would wage, a single player’s bet (considering that it is city’s best casino) won’t be enough to cause trouble with the overall bankroll. Maybe this is just an isolated case and others won’t do the same thing. There are other ways to resolve this than to immediately ban a player. Gambling platforms should love players who stake high ‘coz they’d earn from him.If these casinos would continue doing this, then they shouldn’t be in line with the “best” ‘coz they are not having the right bankroll distribution which threatens them of bankruptcy. Problem is not with the gambler but the casino itself.

If casinos are wealthy, and gamblers like Dana White, who consistently earns a substantial income in his business, can easily risk millions of dollars, it becomes painful for the casino when they lose. While banning him is probably not the right approach, limiting his bets may be considered. The question is, would that satisfy Dana White?

Dana White net worth in 2023 is $500, 000,000.. he is a rich guy.

https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/dana-white/
These orchestrate bans sends a strong and clear message that the casinos were not established in our best interest so therefore as a gambler just come play constantly lose your money amidst having fun and walk home smiling for your loss. They could have taken the option of considering to limit his bets but limiting his bet won't still put the casino on the winning side every penny is significant for business and this know that's why the ban. But this isn't right all, does it mean that if casinos can make it possible that gamblers don't ever get a single  win in all the times they play, they can do it. So our winnings irritate them but our constant losses doesn't, so what's the balance there if this be the case that I should just be constantly losing as a gambler?
854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think gambling is inbuilt, kids don't learn it anywhere, they do it! on: October 19, 2023, 10:56:13 PM
The Australian Government once said about abolishing gambling ads as a means of reducing gambling activities amongst underage people. But, I think they'll be no successful way of stopping young people from gambling. As it's in them. Most articles here also say things like gambling addiction being hereditary. That means gambling can be hereditary as well. Because I just watched from a distant two kids below 10 years, staking bets, after a long argument about who the artiste of a specific song is. They later staked close to 40 cents each, for the person who gets the answer right. Then they went ahead to verify. And I lost sight of them. I thought about, how come or who thought these kids about betting money during a long argument. I was able to memorize, back when I was a kid. We easily said, how much would you bet if it turns out I'm saying the truth; during an argument. It made me understand that, despite during those days we had no phones or access to the internet, gambling is somehow embedded to the brain of humans. Then, as a child, we weren't exposed to gambling. I could only remember of lotto, as a kid. But we still said things like "let's bet it"
The pattern of gambling as giving here by op is a normal life style that you can equally find it with people that don't have a clue about what in-land or online gambling is all about, it's just a way of trying to back up your claims in an argument and if this is what gambling about then we won't be having the reckless increase of gambling addicts on the street of Vegas and other places in the world. Real gambling is beyond that, and it's true that it's innate in humans to quickly want to attach money to arguments because we know money value.

On the other hand, government have been up and doing to an appreciable length in reducing the explosion of gambling with it's ads advertisement in almost in every online site you batch in, and this has been the reason why kids without difficulty get to know about gambling. Even as an adult I some times get upset with the manner at which gambling are spread in every site I clicked distorting my attention to what I earlier had in mind and if you're not disciplined you can easily lose attention and deviate.
855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do your parents know about your gambling habit ? on: October 19, 2023, 10:38:18 PM
Gambling is strictly meant for adults and as an adult you're entitled to making your own life's decision and facing whatever consequences that follows without parents interfering because that's what makes you an adult.

You are funny. When the kid skips school and goes home to play video games, even though he know he will be punished if parents find out about it - makes him adult?  If gambling is for adults only, why in cartoons we seem characters gamble or visit casinos? Are cartoons for adults then? When you visit Vegas or any IRL casino with your family and you are accompanied with a kid, casinos guard will let your kid in, as well as let kid watch others gamble and even wont interfere if you will allow your kid to smash spin button in slots. Btw, do you know that on YouTube kids app kids can eventually get gambling ads? I'm eager to get your comment on this. Grin
gambling like I said was strictly meant for adults but the industry has been revolutionized in ways that kids can even gamble behind closed doors with or without their parents knowing. Though children now have access to instrument of gambling still doesn't make gambling an activity for children but simply for adult and am backing this argument with the age 18+ that's been displayed by any gambling platform be it online or in land  as  eligibility age to legally engage in  gambling  (The age limits differa from one country to another) therefore because parents gives consent for their underage kids to gamble or make a  spin doesn't make them eligible to be gamblers or gamble so far as they ain't adult yet.
856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 19, 2023, 03:25:04 PM
Never gamble while your drunk you will be wasting money gambling under the influence of alcohol because your gambling decision are not based on logic at that moment. Don't make gambling an activity you can't do without, give your time to many other economic and social things and activities of life by gambling less often.

In as much as we are always reminded to set amount limit for gambling we should as well set a time limit. It's a bad attitude to spend the whole of our day at the gambling house or online gambling, it's easily to get addicted doing so. Just as many other persons have said, gambling should be taken as entertainment and relieve activity away from the pressures and tasks from workplace and family and not as source of making money.
857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can the government acquire all bitcoins either by seizure or purchase? on: October 19, 2023, 01:18:09 PM
This headline from the news is what has been making me think, Israel seizes cryptocurrency said to be used to finance Hezbollah and Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

The government has struggled hard to make sure that bitcoin does not develop and grow, they have made several policies and even created their own CBDC as a competition all to suffocate bitcoins growth. It is not impossible that they have not thought about seizing all the bitcoins so they can just hold it until we forget about bitcoins. So I am thinking, apart from physically confiscating hardware wallets and apprehending bitcoin holders to submit their seed phrase, is it possible that the government can seize bitcoins belonging to citizens even though it is a decentralized system?
it is for this reasons that bitcoiners are admonished to make use of self custody wallets to avoid the government doing what they feel they can do at any time with our money. The assets seized by the Israeli government can only be assets located in centralized exchange wallets. There's no way any one can have access to your funds in a self custodial wallet without your private keys except that the owners of those funds might have given out their private keys to the wallet which those cryptocurrency were seized out of duress.

It is becoming so important with the way things are going with how our governments are responding as regards to people holding cryptocurrency that we need to be secretive and private about our owning of the digital currency so we don't become a target of government or it's agency since bitcoin is a currency they can't have access to controlling it due to its decentralized nature, the government do usually feel threatened that holders of it's in much volume can use it in financing ideologies that's against  the government.

Am also using this as an opportunity to pray for a possible end to the killings of  innocent citizens in this Isreal -Hamas conflict, we can always give peace a chance cohabiting without violence.

Cointelegraph issues apology after falsely announcing that BlackRock's Spot Bitcoin ETF was approved by the SEC.

This news raised the price of Bitcoin in a short time.

where can I find the famous fake news in the last 5 years?

thx guys Wink
I initially saw the news on X, I was even suprise to later notice it was fake.
But my question is, why were they in a rush to publish such fake information to the public, is it that there is something they have in mind to drive at or is it that they're trying to get to SEC to make them approve Bitcoin ETH, because this approval has been lingering for a long time now and Rumours have been flying about this approval thing.

Most of the grown up people do not live with parents. At such, the parents are not aware about the interests and habits of individuals. Do you parents know that you gamble ? What was their first reaction towards your gambling habit ?
Gambling is not supposed to be for kinds. Many casinos and gambling companies do not allow children to register or use their services. Consequently, anyone up to the age of gambling is supposed to be able to make his decisions with little to no interference from parents or anyone.

If it is just my parents knowing that I am into gambling, they do and not that they really have any way to interfere as I'm independent and can take my decisions.
All casino prohibits children and underage from using their platforms to gamble. Gambling is strictly meant for adults and as an adult you're entitled to making your own life's decision and facing whatever consequences that follows without parents interfering because that's what makes you an adult. For parents that cares too much the only area they can come in is just to give advice of been mindful not to get into addiction. Their knowledge about me being a gambler doesn't tickle my fantasy of what they think about it whether they stomach it in good faith or not, that's part of adulthood.

Even if Arsenal don't win the Champions League title this season they can still achieve a good success in the tournament. Because Arteta's system is working really good. But that loss against Lens was really unexpected to be honest. In the end we are just at the beginning of the group stage. But I assume that Arsenal will make up for that point loss strongly.

It isn't easy to achieve big successes with a very young team maybe. But so far Arteta has been doing a good work with this team. They fought for the Premier League title last season and they can do really nice things there and in the Champions League both this season as well.
Artheta is a good manager and I love the stability he has built in the team so far arsenal has been consistent with their form both in the previous season and this season, it was a common error that led to them losing to Lens in the UCL an error I have no doubt about them correcting when they play at home in England.   Arsenal may not stand a chance of winning the UCL title, however, with the energy and dexterity of the squad their chances of qualifying beyond the round of sixteen is very high.
