still no tracking number on Batch #3 4-module Avalon?

Hi JimiQ84. Unfortunately no...those that ordered sans PSU, as Avalon themselves advised, are being made to wait. I don't think it'll be much longer however.

I like it. Do I have your permission to copy your motion text nearly verbatim?  Smiley

You do indeed. Smiley

Crazy day indeed. I've increased my own stake significantly during this downdraft as I believe we're currently undervalued by the market.

Cheers.

Hi Carnth. I think many issuers needlessly over-complicate their motions or news releases. Many(most?) give these only a passing glance and a wall of text will tend to get ignored. My split motion was worded very simply:

Quote
Shall bASIC-MINING institute a 10:1 stock split?
Given the recent share price appreciation a stock split may help improve liquidity.
This motion can be discussed here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=130982.msg2575562#msg2575562

This way you get your point across and leave an information trail for those that want to spend the time investigating. Just my take.

Cheers.

What a ride. I have to hand it to burnside and the_swede, I think you guys made the right decision. It's not perfect and a bunch of people will be unhappy, but it was probably the fairest decision given the circumstances.

So now that this is done, see you in the post-IPO orderbook battlefield Cheesy

(And don't forget the other cryptostocks as well, I've heard some guys left cheap shares lying around)

+1. Enough with the complaints - the IPO is over. There are never going to be solutions in which demand is higher than supply where everyone is going to be pleased. As far as I'm concerned, the process was handled fairly and professionally. As a suggestion, if you feel that things didn't go smoothly and want the next issuance to be more successful, start a new thread with improvement requests for BTCT. Be professional, be a part of the community and be a part of the solution rather than the problem.

+1. Well said.

847  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: July 31, 2013, 05:54:43 PM
There's nothing wrong. DiffA/Time reveals you're getting 1533.3199 shares/min accepted. This is equivalent to 1149.9899/min on a 3 module Avalon. You're fine.

Be glad you weren't silly enough to listen to Yifu's advice to forgo the included PSU.

So if I want to buy some Labcoin IPO, do I simply have to wait patiently for it to hit the exchange and then buy?  The chatter I've read seems to indicate that people already have their buy orders in, and that the IPO is sold out.  Is that correct?

There are bids placed for 11914650 shares representing a total of 11941.299581 BTC atm. Since Labcoin said they were going to raise 7000? BTC this would more than fill their IPO requirements.

It's still 23c ambient around the rig, I'm not getting enough of the hot exhaust outside. This is something I'll have to look at improving. Still the temps are dropping and the averages continue to improve:

Ambient is still higher than I'd like, but the ACs are beginning to assert themselves now that the exhaust from the rig is being escorted from the premises.

And I was about to suggest ducting those hot exhausts elsewhere, silly me!  Cheesy

There's no doubt in my mind BFL is working with the superior chip, as of now, but it certainly is amusing the "cost efficiency" in regards to the infrastructure of the rig itself. I say that never having ordered from them though, I realize others have varied opinions-and if I were in their shoes I wouldn't be smiling.

Although I tend to agree with the statement; if you're going to do something, do it right the first time.

Now if only I had ordered more chips/boards maybe I could lend them to you for full optimization!  Tongue

EDIT: Looks like you're averaging 74.3gh/s per the advertised 60gh/s? Unless I'm overlooking factoring another rig in? That's damn impressive!

The average will take awhile to settle, and then it'll rise somewhat overnight with the colder air, but at this point I'd not be surprised if the final average is around 62Gh/s/module which would put us around 744Gh/s for our 12 BFL modules. When I first plugged them they were averaging around 55Gh/s with their ineffective stock cooling and heat trapping cases.

I'm also anxious to see Teal's final product. I think he can knock it out of the park.

Cheers.

BFL Minirig SC added. Posted: 11 days ago
Dear virtual shareholders,

bASIC-Mining is pleased to announce the further expansion of it's ASIC mining hardware with the addition of a Butterfly Labs Bitforce Minirig SC. The Minirig SC will be expected to add 480 - 500Gh/s to bASIC-Mining's rapidly expanding hashrate. With this new addition bASIC-MINING has increased it's hashing power to approximately 925,000 Mh/s.

Cheers,

CreativeX

This remains the most recent news item posted to BTCT. I'm assuming you're waiting to get the Batch 3 order to post another update, but I think the work you're doing right now on optimization is probably something worth publicizing - perhaps once you've got numbers from having gone through all of the BFLs.

Hi davos. Agreed. When I have solid numbers from the mods I've made I'll make a formal announcement whether we have our batch 3 Avalon to push us over the 1Th/s mark or no.

Cheers.

Ty. I've been building custom high performance computer systems for over 25yrs so most of this is second nature. I find BFL to be an enigma. I will not pre-order from the company because I thoroughly despise their business practices, but the gear itself is really some of the most capable equipment I've ever seen. Then there are cost cutting measures employed that I find to be silly on products at this price point which are holding back what are surely the most capable chips currently available.

Ambient is still higher than I'd like, but the ACs are beginning to assert themselves now that the exhaust from the rig is being escorted from the premises.

I've just finished work on the last minirig engine and I'm happy to report that the only casualties are some skin on my knuckles(I hate spinning fans), 1 stock case fan blade, and 1 stock hsf fan blade.

I had just restarted bfgminer when I snapped that screenie so hashrate was still climbing. Also ambient is high around the gear(21c) as the exhaust from the rig is being discharged into the room and the ACs cannot keep up. All that said temps are down a minimum of 10c on all the minirig engines by simply exchaning the thermal pads for MX-2 and flipping the stock HSFs. I also removed the aluminum fan shrouds from the minirig as I don't think they're doing anything save adding noise. I'll report on performance numbers as they come in.

Cheers.
854  Other / Archival / Re: btt on: July 29, 2013, 01:38:31 PM
Thanks guys. I finished modding the other two singles and averaged the results after several hours of operation. The results are as follows:

This is with ambient temp ranging from 16c - 18c. The minirig had a portable AC blowing directly into it's intake during this time while the singles did not, though the singles have all the high performance fans and TIM replacement while the minirig was stock.

My conclusion here is that if it's possible to take down the minirig and mod one engine at a time while the others continue hashing it will be worthwhile. With this in mind I stripped our minirig.

This is with one engine out for modding...the other 7 are still hashing. Now BFL's choice of low profile fans for the singles makes more sense as there's not quite enough room for our high performance 90mm fans on 6 of the 8 minirig engines. Apparently they didn't want to source or stock two types of 90mm fans. There's also not enough room to replace the case fans with deltas. I'm thinking it may be possible to increase the space between the lower 6 engines enough to squeeze in higher performance HS fans and this combined with replacing the thermal pads with high performance paste should improve performance significantly.

Cheers.

...you may be a fellow geek if...

I modded one more single before I turned in, mostly for experiment control purposes as I'm not able to tell one single from another or a single from a minirig engine by scrutinizing bfgminer's output and I wanted the results to be crystal clear. I've numbered the singles and connected them to corresponding rails on the beastly antec PSU, but it doesn't help much when trying to determine which single is running hot or cold due to the way the minirig reports and the fact that I have them all plugged into one powered hub and one nekked mobo. I've snapped off a few screenies throughout the morning to help with examining the effects of my mods:

It got cold here last night(cold for July in MI at any rate) so ambient around the bfl gear dipped below 16c with the two ACs running...which turned them into fans as they don't have settings lower than 16c. This caused all of the engines to increase their hashpower overnight. It's now right around 18c ambient around the gear and all of the engines have risen in temp slightly with the two I modded rising the least and continuing to perform above average and above spec.

My conclusion is that this is geek time well spent and we should be able to increase our hashrate by a few % just by optimizing airflow.

Cheers.

Hi Smidge. I too would appreciate it if you'd address some of the questions asked above...particularly given our email exchange.

Cheers.

Hi creativex,

Can I ask you to please be more specific? I'd be happy to answer anything that is unclear.

Ty. Let's start with this:

When burnside first asked you what your profession was you said accountant and it has been recently changed to account manager so.. Ok that still does not answer any trades you have had in the past that would warrant you being a sound investor,

Great you dont day trade but what trades have you made in the past that would be worth mentioning

...and forgive me if this has been asked and answered elsewhere. I admit I've not yet read enough regarding your interesting startup.

I had some time to tinker today so I stripped one of the singles down to it's bare board to get an idea what kind of water block would fit. Both swiftech and enzotech make northbridge blocks that would fit...at least in theory. Trouble is the chips on the BFLs are pretty spread out and these are really small blocks. I may go ahead and order a couple as it would only be .75BTC or so to find out. I have a pump, clamps, and hoses as I've been a watercooled computer nut for years.

(credit to xoxide.com)

When I put the single back together I cleaned the chips and sinks with alcohol and applied a dot of MX-2 paste to each chip rather than re-using the thermal pad supplied by BFL. When I powered it back up with a delta intake and exhaust fan both connected directly to the PSU(LOUD) I was greeted with temps that never climbed above 42c(19c ambient). That single is now approximately 15c cooler than the other three or the engines in the minirig. It remains to be seen if this will translate into more shares submitted, but it was a larger drop than I'd expected.

Cheers.
