TREND REPORT spoke to Harry Sidiropoulos from CloakCoin about the idea behind the project and the possibilities to make profit with the cryptocurrency.
“Anonymity with payment transactions is way more than a basic right”, underlines Sidiropoulos an active crypto-enthusiasts since 2013 in the market. “Encrypted addresses and transactions shelter from unauthorized access.” Otherwise hacker could not just get a hold of digital coins, but also get access to sensitive transaction data. Data, which is dealt with thoughtless through the PSD2-guideline.
After a three-year development phase, the team published the transaction system Enigma in hold of the open source license.
"During all that years till today the project is self-funded", assures Sidiropoulos. An Enigma transaction cannot be traced back, sender and recipient cannot be identified. Data are neither recorded, nor saved online. "The moment an Enigma transaction is realized”, explains Sidiropoulos, other participants, named nodes, are chosen by the network. Via those the transaction amount is mixed, before the recipient receives the amount. The connection between sender and nodes is encrypted and is realized within a peer-to-peer network. For the sending of an Enigma transaction there is a fee charged depending on the transaction amount. This serves as a reward for the nodes, it’s distributed between those randomly between .2 % and 1 % of the sent coins. The more coins are transferred, the less Enigma fee percentage is charged.
CloakCoin is the first cryptocurrency, which is audited by Cognosec, a NASDAQ listed cybersecurity company.
“From this audit corrective actions could be derived and processual changes could be implemented”, says Sidiropoulos. “Enigma was optimized and weak spots were eliminated.”
The resource-efficient Proof-of-Stake algorithm is used for the coin-creation. Thereby the owner is rewarded with yearly six percent for simply holding the coins. This is the third income possibility for the cryptocurrency, besides a possible price gain and the fee income as a node for Enigma transactions.
A purchase of the coins is possible via crypto exchanges.

Development:
We are pleased to announce a release in the next coming days that will include the enhancement of encrypted wallets. We are expecting another release with additional enhancements within the next 2 weeks. Then our team will be focused on the dev fund.
Once the dev fund is complete, we are hoping to bring new developers in our team in order to fulfill the LTC port during the 2nd, beginning of 3rd quarter.
Meanwhile, the development of the raspberry pi wallet has been paused.
The dev fund has the highest priority and needs to be implemented as soon as possible.
We are in the process of finding a solution! Maybe a former raspberry developer of the Cloak team is able to help us.

Der Audit von Cognosec, einer an der NASDAQ notierten Cybersicherheits-Organisation, war für die Ziele des Cloak-Projekts sehr positiv und wird sehr von uns geschätzt. Der Sicherheitsaudit genießt hohe öffentliche Anerkennung und öffnet uns neue Türen, da er zeigt, dass unser Projekt vertrauenswürdig ist. Von den während des Audits identifizierten Problemen wurden hinsichtlich unserer zeitnahen Live-Veröffentlichung bereits 40% bereinigt.
Hier stellen wir euch die Lösungen des Entwicklungsteams von Cloak vor:

Das große Problem der unzureichenden Anonymität und damit einhergehenden Identifizierbarkeit von Sendern wurde gelöst. Cognosec hat die Transaktionen der Blockchain von Cloak analysiert und herausgefunden, dass man Transaktionen und die gesendeten Beträge mithilfe der sogenannten Möglichkeits-Analyse zurückverfolgen kann. So konnten gesendete Beträge konkreten Senderadressen zugeordnet werden. Empfehlungen von Cognosec zufolge haben wir deswegen folgenden Lösungsansatz implementiert: anstelle einer Enigmagebühr, die immer gleichmäßig verteilt wird, erhalten alle teilnehmenden Cloaker zufallsbedingt eine Belohnung in Höhe von 80% - 120% der ursprünglichen Enigmagebühren. Zusätzlich wird der Transaktionswert 2 – 4 weitere Male auf diese Weise gesplittet, um zu verhindern, dass identische Transaktionssummen im Umlauf sind. Ebenso wird verhindert, dass man gesendete Beträge sowie die Sender dieser Beträge mithilfe der Möglichkeits-Analyse identifizieren und zurückverfolgen kann. Mit diesem Prozess lässt sich gleichzeitig auch das Problem #9 lösen (Flawed Splitting Randomizer).

An der unzureichenden Walletverschlüsselung wird momentan gearbeitet. Cognosec fand jedoch heraus, dass man Coins eines gestohlenen Wallets nicht benutzen kann. Das Risiko besteht eher darin, dass Dritte den Transaktionsverlauf sehen könnten.

Der Zufallsgenerator (random generator) kann nun auch ohne Seed benutzt werden.

beziehen sich allesamt auf die „veraltete“ Bitcoin- Veröffentlichung sowie die für dieses Projekt verwendeten Systembibliotheken. Es wurde festgestellt, dass das Vorladen von DLLs ein Prozess ist, der nicht vollständig geschützt und abhängig vom OS ist. Dieser Angreifbarkeit wird entgegengewirkt, indem die benötigten DLLs in einem geschützten Systemverzeichnis platziert werden (z.B. System32-Ordner von Windows), sobald der entsprechende Installer als Teil unseres Walletpakets entwickelt und veröffentlicht wurde. Schlussendlich wird Cloak in die Source des neuesten LiteCoin-Projekts integriert, sodass viele ähnliche Probleme damit zukünftig gelöst werden können.

Cognosec war nicht in der Lage den Sender als Teilnehmer der Enigma-Transaktion zu identifizieren. Betrachtet man die entsprechende Analyse, die den Code liefert, so kann man erkennen, dass sich die Anzahl der Teilnehmer in der Software um genau 1 reduziert. Die hervorgehobene Zeile in Abbildung 9.13 des Audits wendet die CreateForBroadcast-Funktion mit dem ersten Parameter (numParticipants – 1) an. Dies wird auch in Abbildung 1 beschrieben, bei der 4 Cloaker betroffen sind. Im Live-Netzwerk müssen momentan mindestens 5 Cloaker partizipieren, allerdings kann dieser Wert vom Nutzer angepasst und festgelegt werden. Die Analyse von Transaktionen wird dadurch weiter erschwert.
