Why is my wallet taking so long to sync?

This is normal, it is a big blockchain, nearly 2 years old.  So it can take 24hrs to sync,  so make sure to not interrupt it, while the blockchain catches up.

IMPORTANT: Do not send coins to wallet or anything with wallet, until the blockchain has fully loaded.

Congratulations on getting there , you will be able to speak with some powerful VC's and gain even more attention, nice to see older coins with hard working Devs continuing to grow, i think you are looking good for a Microsoft Azure addition also  Wink

Great idea London,

Make sure to post it in the slack chat "ideas" section also please.

Just to know, i have created a new Channel for iocoin.slack

https://iocoin.slack.com/messages/shop-on-ebay-with-ioc/

As some of you already know, i run a ebay store, with lots of unique vintage and designer clothing items and other collectibles, like Littlest Pet Shop toys.

I am offering a massive, 30% discount to everyone who buys an item from my store and pays with I/OCoin.   Smiley

My store link (BOOKMARK IT) > http://stores.ebay.co.uk/TheVintageDude

Simply select what you want, i will end listing, send me the payment. ( I will use countmycrypto to work out the cost.)
Then i will post your item to you.

I thought it is also a great idea to  educate people how easy it is to use IOC.
844  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whale Watchers trading group on: March 25, 2016, 07:08:56 AM
What happened here? Did you get a Visit from the Japanese Whaling boats?

We are still around and doing very well every week. Group has 60 members. My weekly trading recommendations cover forex, crypto, and commodities. Average weekly return is 250+ pips. We also catch nearly every move that BTC and ETH make. I stopped posting updates because I felt that 1 year was a solid amount of track record data.

However, I continue to post BTC and ETH predictions every week on twitter: https://twitter.com/knightlife999

Feel free to PM me if you are interested in joining the group.  Smiley

Following you on Twitter, looks like some of your friends are eating up I/OCoin, if your group is not involved, make sure they are to boost your earnings in the next few months!  Wink

Hi all,
How much space takes %appdata%/.../IOCoin after sync? Thanx.

Mine is 764MB (the entire I/ocoin folder)   (i doubt you will have any bigger)

846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 23, 2016, 04:44:05 PM
than sell your ioc and buy that overhyped ico over rated eth.

Huh

Can you not read or something?

I was agreeing with you. Clearly stating that, if IOC ever was to make some kind of deal with Microoft Azure, it would be very similar to what Ehtereum has done and allowed people on the Azure network use the blockchain.

Also, if you think Eth is a overhyped ICO, thats like saying "The internet will never catch on"  Tongue

i/o longterm vision and goal is aDecentralized blockchain platform with its own ecosystem  while being able to communicate and connect with other chains and creating  sidechains. at the moment the only benefit i see by MS offering io services is speculative hypeand i believe io digital will be better served offering services to MS in the end equation.

Exactly.  Just like the link i posted, the same as what Ethereum is doing.
I/OCoin (when ready) can make its Blockchain available to Companies to utilise.

This is a million miles away from what other alts are doing and these other alts are doing it the wrong way, only Ethereum so far has the right idea. (and hopefully not too far away, I/OCoin.)

848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 23, 2016, 11:41:59 AM
Hey Devs,

I've been following your project ever since it came to my attention that you had been nominated for the Fintech awards and have invested into I/O Digital.

It's great to see you guys pushing the boundaries like this, am looking forward to checking out the new mobile wallet!

With all thats going on at IOC, is MS azure on your radar at all? This project looks like it is something that will have massive appeal.

Thanks!

Best of luck! Smiley

Hey,

Thanks for stopping by. MS Azure is on our investigation list. Currently looking at it and i am in personal contact with Marley Gray (director Bizdev Blockchain microsoft) and he gave us much info. So we are investigating what it could do to help us. If it is just for the hype, we don't do it. We want them to offer our chain / project features and functionalities as well. A two-way partnership. We don't just want to send our code to their servers just because MS can then have a monopoly in some sort of way. So we are looking into it if it can help us and our users.

Regards
Richard

It could be possible to offer the IOC Blockchain as a service on Azure. Similar to what Ethereum is doing.

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/ethereum-blockchain-as-a-service-now-on-azure/

Reading the above link there, IOC would probably need  to develop something similar

"The initial offering contains two tools that allow for rapid development of SmartContract based applications: Ether.Camp - An integrated developer environment, and BlockApps - a private, semi-private Ethereum blockchain environment, can deploy into the public Ethereum environment."

So it would be case of I/OCoin offering a service, rather than "selling its soul" like other alts have done.

I/OCoin is certainly not going to give away its tech to anyone Smiley

But considering "The Enterprise Partner Group at Microsoft is on the front lines with some of our largest customers.  "  Then this would be positive and most likely highly beneficial to IOC, should they offer their services.

if electricity is a factor id suggest a raspberry pi setup 5w of electricity. Android wallet a lite wallet so correct me if im wrong currently staking is not going to be available with an android wallet

Is there any tutorial how i can run the wallet on a raspberry pi?

I fund the Raspberry Pi set up quite challenging. When you get a Pi, there are many steps you have to take, before you can finally download the IOC wallet.  The main problem i was having was connecting it to the internet via my laptop.

If you have a stand alone screen  (normal pc screen with hdmi) and keyboard set up will be easier.  There are many tutorials telling you how to set up your pi.  But if you are a novice, expect it to take a week or so.

Ah just found this:  Please see post #2574 for a guide i wrote about setting up new IOC wallets.

Also member JC12345  wrote a guide here on how to set up a Pi for staking.

There are a few pages, but start from here > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=695855.2620

all the best.

PS: You will need at least 16gb memory card (32 recommended) and a Raspberry pi2 or newer (better)

Thank you for your great work and congrats all successes till now and wish all the best in future!

thanks!

Hi Richard, can you post a link to the top 100 companies, i would really like to see what they place ahead of IOC.
Found it, this is the link to the top 100 > http://www.fintech.nl/index.html

So in I/ODigitals category,
Bitnation (very good idea as i said previously)  2nd in voting
Coinify 3rd in voting
Husfy 4th in voting
Quantoz 12th in voting

and a few others. The main point being, all the companies in the top 100, have tried, tested and working developments.
If IOC had DIONS working it would have been a different story, no company can make it into the top 100 without a tried and tested product.
made it...  Even Augur did not make the top 100!  So really tough competition, i am sure next year IOC will be there and taking home an award!!

I am sure the Benzinga Awards will have IOC at the Finals Table.

Keep up the fantastic work the team is doing, next year you will all take a prize!

Congratulations on the Huge Investment you guys got.

IOC  I/OCoin the coin i know the most, is ahead of you by far in terms of developments,
so it will be very interesting to see what Satoshi price you guys are at on launch.

Hope everything goes well with launch, good luck for the future!
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 22, 2016, 09:01:11 AM
Wow Im see the rebound signal some minute ago Smiley
keep buying and holding it until reach 50.000 satoshi  Cheesy

i will be buying at 50k mark my words! Not selling.

Check this article on Coindesk > http://www.coindesk.com/smart-contract-1-million-bitcoin-rootstock/

IOC will be able to do this also when  developments are released, enable a two way peg to bitcoin for smart contracts and such.

Plus more advanced, blockchain developments, looking around crypto, not many are doing this, if any, IOC is leading the way. 250k satoshi si well within the sights for IOC as a nice solid floor once DIONS is released, i expect 100k to be seen by end of MAy, on the back of being finalists (and possibly WINNERS) of 2 HUGE Fintech Awards!

I have a question about coin age.
I want to send a small amount of coins to my friend.
When i send him coins from my wallet, goes the coin age of the rest of my coins to zero?
What is the maximal coin age?

Good Question!

Pretty sure the answer is no, it would just effect the coins you send, so they would lose age.  (i think)

trade ioc and u gt burned? 99 percent of crypto trades. traders create liuidity ioc looks good for daytraders looks good for stakers

Agreed.  I meant they risk losing IOC coins if they trade, because one day, soon, i am sure the price is going to rocket and that means they will have to buy back higher and have less coins Smiley
855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 21, 2016, 04:18:37 PM
I am not receiving slack invitation, nothing in spam folder also...

try to reset your password at iocoin.slack.com
you probably received an invitation earlier or registered.

Cheers
Richard

is that official slack comunity for IOC....?
today im buying IOC at 18k then sell it at 20k Roll Eyes

now buy back at 18k but im stuck   Cheesy
any chance we will reach 30k again..? or maybe 50k  Undecided

If you trade IOC you will get burned.

Here is a BETTER IDEA!

1- BUY IOC
2- Move coins to Wallet and Stake them
3- Wait 6-12 months
4- Tell me how amazing i am and how happy you listened to my advice!
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 21, 2016, 11:06:54 AM
From OP:

"PoS min coin age: 8h"

Which for most people is "a day" because your wallet has to be open and staking for a full 8hrs without any interruptions.
So no turning it off or nothing. Keep wallet open for a full 8hrs, then your coins will stake to have network weight.

I repeat. The more coins you have, the longer you stake without turning it off, the more your network weigh (staking coins) will grow.

Just wanted to say I think you guys have an excellent project going!

One quick question,  I'm using the HTML5 Wallet and I am trying to stake the money I transfered into the wallet.  However, the number next to the word 'Stake' is zero and the bottom wallet has the message "No mature coins to stake".

How long for coins to mature to stake?

Hi,

I think it is 24hrs give or take.  The longer you have your wallet staking , the more often you do it, the more"network Weight" (Staking coins) you will have.

So try and keep wallet open and staking, every day and for as long as possible.  Personally i stake from around 7am to 10pm  (turning my computer off only when sleeping.

Also there is a new rewards system coming soon that will reward loyal staker with even greater rewards, so a very good time to join IOC and stake.

One last thing.. just remember to make a back up of your wallet.dat to several usb sticks and write your password down in a couple of places also  (i actually keep them with the usb)

858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 20, 2016, 07:38:59 PM
Its the QT wallet for windows. I'm so amazed at all the new crypto developments. I'm back in crypto-land from a "sabbatical" since April 2014 when Darkcoin and Monero sprung into bloom. Amazing developments. Any input on Sia vs. I/IO and Expanse... Some comparisons would be very interesting from industry spectators...

Ok. The best thing to do is read the OP (opening Posts) of each of those threads.

Siacoin has a premine (even though it says it doesn't, but the first 300 block, each   with 300k then 299,999k  so do the math, BIG premine no matter what they say) Then is has a "2nd" crypto currency for a Siafund, al very suspect if you ask me and not something i would give a moments consideration to, plus they do not make it easy to see how many coins there are, thats why its worth 33 sats along with other things. They also claim to be decentralized, but not through innovation.

Expanse well, sounds good, looks quite good, but do your research on the members. They even quote themself being involved in otehr coins, so there no dedication there,  So not a coin i would trust and i doubt they manage to do half the things they say, Gas limit? Are they trying to sound like Eth here, i think so, looks like they have over 36mill coins supply also.

So, overall, there can be NO comparison between IOC and these coins you mention or other coins in crypto thats for sure.

When investing in IOC one thing is for sure.

* Dedication for all the members, not involved in any other projects in crypto 100% focused on making the best blockchain in crypto.
* Decentralized thanks to the innovation and unique developments
* Build a powerful blockchain, that is fast, secure and flexible thanks to sidechains.
* only 16 mill coins minted
* Low Satoshi value makes it an investors dream
* 60%+ coins staking in wallets, away from the market
* Bring developments never seen in crypto. DIONS, Chameleon.

And above all, the people behind I/OCoin and its company I/ODigital, are true, professional businessmen with strong cryptocurrency backgrounds and the belief and forward thinking to make this coin rival the likes of Ethereum!

One thing is for sure, comes back to this thread in 5 years and IOC will still be here working strong, staking strong and performing strongly on the exchanges.  There is no safer bet in crypto right now than I/OCoin. Mark my words.
859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 20, 2016, 09:35:03 AM
I hope IOC reaches 200k satoshi by the end of the year and Richard gets a I/OCoin logo and it is filmed when being done.
With the fantastic dedication the IOC team shows and the amazing developments released and getting ready to be released, 200k could well be within IOC reach. I might just have the logo tattooed also  Wink

Really looking forward to reading more about the new staking rewards, do you guys have a name for this new system?
(would be good to give it a name)

DioR (Data input output Rewards)

IOC looking strong on the exchanges   20,000 satoshi looks liek the new floor price give or take a couple of thousand.  This is more like it for a coin that is head and shoulders above most in crypto.

So much to look forward to in the coming months.   So until then, i will spread the good word of the IOC and I/ODigital to all i meet and keep staking away.

860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [IOC][ I/O Digital ] I/O Coin - Identity SideChain - Private Messaging - POS I/O on: March 19, 2016, 01:54:39 PM
great oppurtunity showcase iodigital for diona release and a good pr promo. march april may than ita dead summertime crypto scene

Well i think crpyto now does not have any "off season" due to the massive attention it now has and the huge influx of cash, so i think we wont see any quiet moments now like in the past.

BTW > Check Poloniex, someone is buying all IOC under 20k it seems, looks a lot like some BIG news is expected.

keep staking guys! Spread the good word of IOC
