841  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I give BTC away? on: October 15, 2016, 03:28:34 PM
The easiest way to give a small amount would be to ask them to download a wallet themselves and you send it to them. Putting 10000 satoshi on a paper wallet then sending that to another address would just diminish the already tiny amount you would be giving them

843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: October 15, 2016, 12:41:39 PM
There are a few other currencies that are different in a few ways. Mainly eth and xmr. All other coins are just a light version of bitcoin or the same exact thing. Bitcoin does have competition but it's not overtaking bitcoin at all.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was bitcoin designed to be global? on: October 14, 2016, 02:41:05 AM
Given the fact that there are only 21M bitcoins, one could wonder if bitcoin was designed for a few selected or first few adopters and not to be a global currency in a world with +7 billions people.

What happens 40 years from now when most of the people on earth turn to using crypto currency? simply use alt coins when they see bitcoin already in hands of a few hundreds people and not wanting to be manipulated by them or even by 1m coins of satoshi?

Can't we have a second version of same code with same team and the same credibility developing it?

Actually there are 100million times more units than you listed. They're called a Satoshi. If bitcoins are worth 1000x what they are right now we still won't really have a need for 1 satoshi. If it becomes so mainstream that everyone owns bitcoins in the world (doubtful) then it could always be broken up into 10, 12 or 16 decimal points.
845  Other / Archival / Re: BTC puzzle! 0.5 BTC on: October 14, 2016, 01:54:46 AM
That is very disappointing.
If we look at it from another perspective, it's actually good news because if we can't solve this puzzle even with the clues, imagine how safe our Bitcoins are from brute force cracking Wink
Well... maybe they're not THAT safe (if we get clues Wink)...

So at around 1509 hrs UTC on 28th September (around 0409 hrs on the 29th local)... my script spat out another possible hit... I was working a night shift and so I didn't actually get around to checking it until around 8 hours later.

Amongst the 3 new possible hits that had been generated, one started with "1qk...."... could this be it?? I quickly checked on blockchain.info... "Final Balance: 0.5001 BTC"... WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!  Shocked So I quickly imported the private key into my wallet and transferred my newfound loot into my own personal address. Grin

The private key turned out to be: 5JKPapJwgyEij3sxYRAEnixyiFgxqkVhgZXv9bWWknBexegx6tM

Congratulations! Man that took a lot of time & effort! I was lightyears behind you guys so I gave up a long time ago. Well deserved!
846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tipping Uber drivers with bitcoin on: October 14, 2016, 01:48:13 AM
Tipping uber drivers would be really good in helping Bitcoin achieve the most coveted "circular economy". To make people spend Bitcoin, a person must earn it by providing a service, as his or her salary and earn them by selling goods. Bitcoin's adoption problems are not in the spending part, it is in the earning part. How can a massive amount of people earn Bitcoins when Bitcoin paying jobs are almost non existent?

OP's idea is a good one and I like it but I'm sure other people will have other ideas too. So please post them here and let is talk about it.

Exactly! If you earn your bitcoins like any other currency it will already have a value to you. Time is money really, so if you're spending your time offering a service and someone gives you a 1mBTC tip you're bound to use it like any other currency by either spending it or saving it.
847  Economy / Services / Re: compose and record music for bitcoin, genre hard rock and heavy metal, rocknroll on: October 14, 2016, 01:39:29 AM

I'm definitely interested in {hearing} your portfolio. How long have you been composing music for? What sort of education do you have, if any and will you be using a program to write these or it's just played on intruments and recorded?
848  Economy / Services / Re: Paying for the DOX of a scammer on: October 14, 2016, 01:35:24 AM
Scammers are hiding thier true identity so even if they give you thier name its not thier 100% name or that name doesnt exist at all.

That would be why he's looking for a dox. That's pretty obvious lol. if it's not real information then it's not a dox by definition.
849  Other / Meta / Re: Deleted Post on: October 13, 2016, 11:31:16 PM
Your posts are just spam and useless. You then proceeded to post the same post multiple times, so it was deleted for each consecutive post. Continue to do this and you will probably be banned.

you made me laugh, but thank you for your answer.
if among the 712 page and the 14220 reply of this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=828984.msg16554078#msg16554078
the only post that was considered as spam and useless is mine, what you want me to say more; nothing.
I'm here to learn, if permitted for me.

Learn to gamble better or learn about bitcoin? If you're trying to learn the latter you may want to do less of the former Wink. Might I suggest a different subforum entirely?
850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tipping Uber drivers with bitcoin on: October 13, 2016, 11:26:21 PM
A printed QR code is a great way to send a tip.
Very easy and most people that use Bitcoin will probably have some kind of smarthphone and an app that can send Bitcoin.
Now we just need an easier way for the driver to turn their coins into cash and this would be a huge market that would expand the number of Bitcoin users.

Do you mean turn their bitcoins into cash? That's the exact opposite of what you'd want if you want more bitcoin users. If I want people to use a Canadian Dollar as currency I don't go trading every Canadian Dollar I have to a US dollar do I?
851  Economy / Auctions / Re: 2,400 1oz Silver Rounds for Auction on: October 13, 2016, 11:23:20 PM
Can you please pm me where in new york you are?

Also if you have any idea on what custom charges might be bringing it over to canada?

I'm interested in the same. Any idea how much a pack of 20 + shipping and customs to Canada would be? These are definitely some interesting coins.
852  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: CAUTION: BLOCKCHAIN.INFO Fishing page in Google Ads! on: October 13, 2016, 01:44:17 AM
Seems there is a focus on Blockchain wallet, their domain name has been hijacked today, but they managed to solve this problem and restore their services, and now the site is running normally, I think these attempts won't stop because this wallet has the highest number of users, and it is hard to count how many Bitcoins they are storing.

Which is exactly what the problem is, if you trust someone else with your bitcoins eventually when they're lost/stolen it's only yourself you can blame. I'm just waiting for the news articles to come out saying blockchain.info was hacked and everyone's funds are gone.
853  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-10-12]Connecticut Hacker Created Darknet Phishing Sites To Steal Bitcoins on: October 13, 2016, 01:41:59 AM
There's just no way to stay safe against scammers omg! OK well there is, be vigilant and trust no one but other than that you must be really lucky if you haven't been scammed in the bitcoin community. Unfortunately that's the sad truth at this point.
854  Economy / Reputation / Re: Scam Accusation against Atari--- on: October 13, 2016, 01:25:53 AM
since I do not see that the transaction was carried out, or the victims financially, so I suggest move this thread to reputation section.

I'd have to agree. He hasn't scammed anyone (that we of / yet) so this should be in reputation.

He is going FULL_RETARD on selling now! Shocked

So it would appear!
855  Other / Meta / Re: How do I post a youtube clip in the forum. on: October 13, 2016, 01:16:05 AM
How do I do this showing the actual clip not just a link?
You can't. It's as simple as that.

I'm not sure if the forum allows [flash] to be used, because you could possibly do that. Most likely it's disabled to prevent spam.

there is a flash link in the toolbar, would you know how to do it that way?

The icon is there but it won't work. Flash is disabled in this forum for security reasons.

If it's disabled, then why have it on the list? I suggest removing it unless, that is, it'll cost ~$50K, then let it stay.

Hmm, it would probably take at least 6months... Take into account Lauda's salary... carry the one... Yep. About 48.6k.

Seriously though I never noticed it was there. Just looking around the forum I never saw flash so I've always made the assumption we couldn't use it. Looks like my assumption was right!
856  Economy / Services / Re: [5mBTC Bounty] Help me find a 'Lemon' 3 wick Bath & Body Works candle (Canada) on: October 13, 2016, 01:04:30 AM
Whoops, I kind of forgot about this post. No one managed to find one candle so I'll be buying the two. Thanks TheButterZone.

Side note: that's cool how you just wrote out that transaction like that. I wasn't aware it could be done. That was really handy!
857  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: CAUTION: BLOCKCHAIN.INFO Fishing page in Google Ads! on: October 12, 2016, 05:28:09 PM
I've seen quite a few of these over the past year or so. It's not just blockchain or cryptocurrency that this happens with either. I'd say bookmark it to make sure you're going to the right website or better yet stop using an online wallet and use something secure.
858  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Secondstrade.com stole 0.9733BTC [Proofs Inside] on: October 10, 2016, 07:55:44 PM
Wow the scam accusations keep popping up for secondstrade. I saw that they were having some technical difficulties but this is getting ridiculous. Keep us in the loop OP.
859  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Strange Tiny blocks on: October 10, 2016, 07:48:55 PM
Huh I've never seen a block with 1 transaction before. I'm sticking around to hear a good technical answer here  Tongue

Are these perhaps orphan blocks?

860  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Just got scammed out of 5BTC on: October 10, 2016, 07:31:01 PM
You should report the scammer to the moderator so he can have a negative trust on his account and he won't be able to scam other people too.

That's not at all how the trust system here works. Most likely other DT members would negbomb the account if there was proof.

Could you post the spammers UID and a TXID so we can make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else? Thanks.
