841  Economy / Economics / Re: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin? on: October 03, 2017, 11:16:05 PM
Hi All,

I have just over £500 to spend and I'm not sure where I should be investing this.

Do I buy a small fraction of a bitcoin or buy 2 ethers?

What would you do?

I'm looking for some long term investment.

Also, i'm hoping to contribute £100 per month towards either one but not sure which direction I should be taking.

Many Thanks
If I were you I would diversify it since both coins have a lot in it. Although that is the case, bitcoin might be the better choice because of the growing adoption rate when compared to ETH since bitcoin is legalized in some countries while ETH on the other hand is neither legal nor illegal for now in most countries. With both being held, potential profit would be faster since pumps and dumps are faster in eth for now, and btc is good to secure some value on your investment.
842  Economy / Economics / Re: tax on: October 02, 2017, 01:24:22 PM
in your country income from bitcoin taxed? state the country
Even if bitcoin is widespread here in Philippines, tax is not that much since they only tax the website which we use to convert btc into fiat, Other than that, it is not taxed at all when we claim it in a money sending service or in the bank since funds from bitcoin can be directly sent to bank for us to get it there and is not labelled as bitcoin transaction, but it somehow looks like a normal money transfer when one does not look closely. There also is not a mechanism to collect tax from it.
843  Economy / Economics / Re: Jamie Dimon Calls Bitcoin A 'Fraud' on: October 02, 2017, 12:16:32 PM
Is fiat losing monetary power is relevent to a state?

Governments do everything in their power to raise deficits higher. This reduces confidence & kills monetary power. A governments existence in the modern era is typically defined by spending as inefficiently and wastefully as possible. This also kills monetary power. Judging by actions governments universally support raising deficits and spending tax revenues as wastefully as possible, with their end goal seemingly being to lose monetary power and destroy the value of their own wealth.

After more than 50 years of the united states federal government supporting policies which ensure loss of their own monetary power, one might be certain they will support bitcoin as it seamlessly meshes in perfect lockstep with everything else they've done for the past century.
That will probably be what they will do but they wont let fiat lose monetary movement just yet because they enjoy controlling their wealth with less efforts. They could not control bitcoin completely and they would need to exert a lot of effort and they would need to expend a lot of wealth in order for them to control btc temporarily so even if they support bitcoin, they will just try to manipulate it to their convenience.
844  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA will halts all Bitcoins exchange.... on: October 02, 2017, 11:39:08 AM
I won't be surprised too that is another fake news. It is not the first time. We may start hearing tomorrow that the statement made was misunderstood. Like I have been saying, whales are really doing a very good job.
It is not that much of a fake news anymore. In fact there are some confirmations about it on trusted sources but China only halted exchanges just because they imposed that all business related ICO's should also have permits to operate and without it, they will need to be banned or shut downed in order for them to cease operation. Sooner or later we will see things getting back to normal as new local exchanges with permits opens up in China.
845  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Surges Above $4400 As World Realizes Jamie Dimon & China Don't Matter on: October 02, 2017, 10:20:46 AM
Bitcoin just topped $4400 for the first time since in over 3 weeks and has now erased all of the plunge losses from Jamie Dimon's "it's a fraud" and China's shuttering of all local exchanges.
It made me happy to see that bitcoin have rised despite Jamie Dimon saying it is a fraud and China's local exchange ban. Sooner or later if China really doesn't affect btc price in the next few movements in the next coming weeks or year, then for sure it would be made clear to the world that market is healthier and is not the same crypto market which is commonly manipulated by Chinese and by some other entity.
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ByteBall’s 4th Try to Break Trend on: October 01, 2017, 01:44:05 PM
I was analyzing 4hr chart and noticed another interesting thing that since 15th of September it tried to break 258 level 4 times and couldn't which is very much aligned with that daily trend. both graph shows that breakout might bring very strong rally with it.
It is looking nice so I hope it would go way up after this but after analyzing 1 day chart it is going up and down and volumes are rising so like others I expect this point to be the most critical time to decide whether it will go up or down but for now probably it will do an upward trend in the next few hours after this hour. Also, it might even get a 5th try to break it's current trend or more while volumes are rising.
847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash is the future IMO on: October 01, 2017, 01:04:44 PM
We view that the BTC blockchain slowing down radically as mass approval carries on, finance institutions won't accept that slow block-chain once they are able to utilize the BCH block-chain that's substantially faster. I am very long in BCH.
Whether it will be the future or not, and even if it is substantially faster, it will also get slower confirmation times in the long run when it is already being used by many users as many as the number of people using bitcoin today. Still even if it is substantially faster, All I care about is slow transactions being solved. Even if that is the case, i dont think it will really replace the current bitcoin that we have and use but still it is nice to divest in BCH.
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do once you buy an ico on: October 01, 2017, 12:18:25 PM
Hi guys

Im looking at buying into an ico... using ethereum funds

Once you're in the ico.... and say for a basic example you buy the ico at $1 and it jumps straight to $2 and i dont want to hold them... how do i sell them?

Whats the process?

Thanks in advance

If you buy into ICO at 1$ and it jumped straight at 2$ when it is listed to an exchange then just simply deposit it in an exchange then sell it there. All you have to do is transfer the said tokens into exchanges via sending it to their deposit addresses if the particular token you want to trade is listed on an exchange that is. If it still isn't all you can do is wait for it to be listed on an exchange. If it jumped in price when it is still not listed to an exchange, all you can do is trade it peer to peer and you will need to find a buyer willing to buy but since you are still looking into an ICO, it is very unlikely for it to jump straight to 2$ from 1$ after you invest so hodl.
849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cartaxi ICO on: October 01, 2017, 11:29:07 AM
The business is already running. They are extending over different geographies. So it's not just idea. That itself is different from other icos. I also see investor friendly approach in their dividend, bonuses.
It is not really just an idea but a great idea itself. If they would somehow can extend their services to all people around the globe, then their coin would surely be profitable and will be a good coin in the future. I just hope that the developments of this project continue the way it is developing itself now, because if they do, for sure there will be constant demand for this token in the future because of it being used in real life.
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rumours saying Neo is now legal in China on: October 01, 2017, 10:48:31 AM
Hello,

I was checking out #neo on Twitter and saw a lot of articles saying Neo is legal as from today in China.
So this would be the coin not banned from the exchanges.

Does anyone have more info?

As far as I know, NEO is not illegal but rather ICO's are what is illegal in China and legal ICO's would be regulated. China also didn't ban the complete usage of cryptocurrencies to their citizens but they have only banned local exchanges themselves maybe because of not complying to the rules and regulatons of China or them not having a permit of sorts to operate business so therefore they banned it.
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LISK vs OMG on: September 30, 2017, 11:27:35 PM
I have one spot left in my portfolio for another altcoin for a longterm hold. I'm hesitating between Lisk and OMG. Help me decide?
Both coin is good so it will be better to invest on both coin but for long term hold, I recommend lisk more than OMG after all, lisk has existed longer in the crypto market than OMG while maintaining a value for itself. For me it is also better to hold lisk long term since it has proven in the past what the lowest value it can have, and it being stable on a fixed price for a time is a good sign that it might go up again or reach new highs.
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH and ERC20 tokens on myetherwallet or Ledger Nano S on: September 30, 2017, 10:52:07 AM
I am thinking for a long time how save is to store all your ETH and ERC20 tokens on myetherwallet. I read a lot of articles and many people suggest to use Ledger Nano S instead of myetherwallet. But no one exactly tell why. Why is not good to store ERC20 tokens on myetherwallet. What if you lost your Ledger Nano S. It is almost necessary to have 2 Ledger Nano S in my opinion.

IMO it is better to use Ledger Nano S only for stocking erc20 tokens for long term holding of the tokens. If it were to be held for a little time, I suggest you OP to use only myetherwallet it is safe unless you will fall prey to phishing sites. Just remember to check if the site you entered is myetherwallet itself or not. Just to be in the safe site, bookmark the original site of MEW and use it always to access your eth wallet.
853  Economy / Economics / Re: there is an event whether later on 30 september on: September 29, 2017, 11:45:35 AM
a lot of news that appeared for the 30th of september will there be closing of buying and selling sites in china, is there any effect to bitcoin in the market

Most probably I think it would bring crypto a little dump. That being said, I still think that the closure of buying and selling sites in China would somehow lessen users from China but nonetheless, it will have a good impact on bitcoin because manipulation brought about by Chinese would be lessened. Of course even if they will close local exchanges there, they can still trade bitcoin via international exchanges like bittrex, poloniex, and more.
854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: the best currencies to store (hold) on: September 29, 2017, 11:10:04 AM
via lsk sc dgb ok kmd ark ardr adx nxt xrp etc eth xmr ltc burst bts fct xem zec sys lbc dash

and for you ?

The coins you have listed are all very profitable coins and among them, I hold lsk, kmd, ark, eth, xmr, ltc, burst, and xem. Other additions on my stash are waves, opt, ett and many more which I think also had a potential to grow. I also invested on some ongoing ICO's now particularly this one I am wearing in my signature, it has a good concept IMO. I believe this project would be a success and would give of nice profits for me in the long run.
855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The next x10 coins for 2018 on: September 28, 2017, 01:42:06 PM
Since it is only gambling to chose the next x1000 coin and even to predict the next x100 coin is very hard to impossible, let's be a bit more realistic and pick the most promising coins that will at least x10(or more  Grin) in 2018. I mean such an investment will go from $100 to $1000 and is still a very good investment. And it should not be impossible to predict with a good fundamental analysis.

My favorites for 2018 that should at least x10 are:

1. Ardor, because it is the successor of the NXT token and has the same team behind it but offers much more functions. With its main chain, it offers the option to create new coins with an own sub chain under Ardor and the Ardor holders will profit from it. Ardor will start soon and hopefully be even more successful than NXT.

2. Verge: It is a stealth coin like Monero but still very undervalued (low market cap). The developers are active and the community is very positive about this project. Some more exchanges started to trade Verge recently.

3. Electroneum: This is a bit risky because it's still an ICO but looks very promising. They develop mobile apps and you can mine this coin via the mobile app.

Which coins do you think will at least x10 in 2018 and should be a good and profitable investment for us?
Among the choice, I think your no. 1, ardor is the best pick and has the most potential to go at least X10 in price by 2018 but the other two also seems promising. Because of that, I have put some money on the three and have diversified with them. Also, besides your pick, I think waves might be the next X10 coin of 2018 because like the three you mentioned OP, waves is being developed and has been undervalued for quite some time now.
856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ADX pumping atm! on: September 28, 2017, 12:39:51 PM
So glad I bought this coin before today's pump. I'm expecting it to go even higher in the month of October because of the development release. How much do you guys think the coin will realistically increase by? Some people have been saying $30 or something crazy like that... I don't believe it though
I think it will increase to 25k satoshi at least. Those people saying it will reach 30$ is way too crazy, it is not that good of a coin for me but still it was a profitable one. The highest possible pump I expect to ADX is up to 5$ but it coming true has low chance. For now since you got profit, I think it is good to sell right now many will have the opportunity to rebuy back again later after this I think.
857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: CSNO (bitdice) - Speculation on: September 28, 2017, 11:32:58 AM
The ICO just finished few days ago.
So can anyone with experience tell me if I should invest more in this coin?
Comparing to other similar projects bitdice looks better.
Bitdice project itself seems to have good enough concept so my suggestion is to hodl if you have bought many already. It is up to you if you want to invest more in CSNO, it is your money after all but if I were you I would just hodl what I bought in ICO if I have already bought some, and if not I will seize this opportunity to buy some of it and hold it for it to be sold at the right time. For now, I think it is a good coin to invest to and is worth holding so it is also good to invest more in it.
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Chart of the Day | AdEx is Today's Big Gainer on: September 28, 2017, 10:40:25 AM
AdEx is rocking record returns in today's market rally. ADX/BTC markets are currently responding with increased trading volumes after prices went up by more than 30% as the cryptocurrency touched $1 though an upward spike.

Chart source:
https://cryptocoincharts.info/pair/adx/btc/bittrex/today
The chart itself In my opinion is looking good and future is still looking bright for AdEx. Based on the current pump there are two possibilities that might happen to it. The first possibility is that there is a probability of it rising way more upward since this upward movement might just be a sign of it but the chance of it being this case was not that high. The other one is that someone just manipulated the price to really go that high then dumped it all to those who placed orders, making profit for himself/herself.
859  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we totally eliminate all the banks in this world? on: September 28, 2017, 09:44:06 AM
What is the future of cryptocurrencies when all the government need to do is to close the bank accounts of businesses or exchange?

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-businesses-face-bank-account-closures-in-singapore/
Whether you like it or not, Banks would not be eliminated that is in the near future at least. Before they were to be deemed as useless, there would be a lot of work needed to do in order for cryptocurrencies to be mainly used with people disregarding the banks. That itself I think would take a long time, and there are still some of the few who will be willing to use their services by that time maybe so banks will not cease to exist in the next 20-30 years at least.
860  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin without China on: September 27, 2017, 12:34:31 PM
I feel that this threat is serious. I'm just new to bitcoin and now this is what happens. I hope that there's another country that will save us and replace China.
It is really serious but not that big of a threat. China is the only one who holds most of the bitcoin and now that they have sold they are powerless with the bitcoin ecosystem. At the same time they hold most of the hashing power in mining but so long as someone replace their hashing power, we will be fine without them. For sure if they really have gone out of the seen, the mining difficulty of btc would be lessened and new more miners would begin to mine it. The only thing I would miss from them is their manipulation that almost constantly happened in the history of bitcoin.
