841  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 18, 2023, 03:30:04 PM
Man I had a rough week when it comes to fantasy and betting.  I think I won maybe 1 of my 4 bets, and they were all close games. Especially since I put the most money on last nights game which I was sure that the Chargers would win.  I also lost two fantasy leagues by less than 1 point.  Not 1 league, freaking 2 leagues.  I just have the worst health ever when it comes to fantasy players.

That was a pretty darn close match for you and I this week, going into the week I was certain I would suffer my first loss.  GG, by the way.  I seriously can't believe my luck this year, I was quite disappointed with my draft, and had little hope at the start of the season.  This is by far the best start to a FF season I've had in my life.  I've been lucky on injuries so far, and that's really the biggest factor.

You were playing me, I could have told you exactly what to expect and that is me losing and probably losing by just a little bit (which is what happened, of course lol).  Was a great matchup though bud.

Any chance of Dallas winning?

Yeah, I expect them to come out on top, but he Chargers can be a tough opponent.  Honestly I wouldn't put much money on either team.  I was thinking of putting a small bet on some props but I haven't had time to really look at the options yet.

Even though the game was challenging and close, Micah Parsons' performance was crucial. I was compelled to watch a portion of the game because it had been a long time since I had seen the NFL. Dallas @1.70 odd ended up being a profitable wager. I appreciate your contributions, gentlemen.

Did you finally put something on the game?

New Orleans saints vs Jacksonville - money on New Orleans saints this Friday!!!

I reckon Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars might be underestimated for this game. The Jaguars won versus the Bills in London and they were speculated to lose versus the Colts because they might be tired from travelling back to America from London. However, they won and the Jaguars secondary showed their toughness and strength. I reckon they will try their hardest to win against the Saints and the Steelers before they lose to the 49ers hehehe. They know this already and their roadmap to the post season might be to win the games where they have a chance and save their strength on games where they know that they will lose.

I'm with you, I don't see Jacksonville losing to the Saints.  I just think the saints suck, and Jacksonville is much more talented on both sides of the ball ( at least in my opinion).

The Jags left London, came back to the States and then went back..is that what you're saying? If so, that's crazy.
842  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession? How to face It? on: October 17, 2023, 02:29:32 PM
I've been hearing people talk about a looming recession for a decade now.  Literally it's been about that long.  Working in finance, being a financial advisor, this is obviously a topic that I deal with on a day to day basis. All I know is that the markets god up and they go down and that will never change so just make sure you've got a well diversified portfolio that can "handle" any market downturns.
843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 17, 2023, 02:27:09 PM
To be honest, I've had this question for quite a while. I keep seeing people claiming to just hold and hold; it'll take one, two, three, or whatever years for the next bull market. However, I'm often wondering: do you ever feel tired of waiting for Bitcoin to thrive? The past few months, or the whole past year—I'm not sure I've lost track of time—have been quite stale. Bitcoin has been ranging between $25.000 and $28.000 for quite a while. The volatility compared to other periods is lower than we're used to, or at least, to what I was used to in the past.

I feel that there isn't too much excitement and this adrenaline feeling anymore; suddenly you'd see Bitcoin climb or crash; you'd be curious when it'd stop, what your next move would be, or simply feel accomplished seeing your money's value grow. Price movements are quite insignificant at this point compared to the huge pumps or dumps that occurred in 2020 or 2021.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against holding, nor am I getting frustrated, at least not yet; I did it in the past and regretted it, even though my only source of income is signature campaigns. It's just that sometimes you can't stop the thoughts from circling around your head. I generally didn't bother to even look at it's price, but I've recently started feeling a little wearied. Perhaps it has to do with the life-induced stress that I've discussed in a previous thread. Who knows? How do you cope with waiting?

I have all the faith in the world that bitcoin is the answer for the future when it comes to means of payment.  I do get tired of waiting because we've seen bitcoin blast off to the moon but it hasn't gone back any time recently and I do fear ab it of the "allurer" of bitcoin wearing off.  The only reason for that is most people who own bitcoin only own it for "profits" and don't realize where it's true value lies.  I'm just not sure we will see a huge moons blast again.
844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 17, 2023, 02:23:20 PM
I see too many people playing way too often. I couldn't agree more that taking a break between gambling, especially when you've got a problem or you simply gamble a whole lot, it's always good to take a break for mental health.  To me gambling should be something that is a fun hobby for people, not something that people should be doing every day and stressing themselves out with.
845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 17, 2023, 02:20:08 PM
I watched a little bit of the NBA basketball preseason in between watching the Monday Night Football game last night.  I can't believe that we are already at the pre-season mark for the NBA as well as the NHL having already starting.

I can't wait to see how the Chicago Bulls do coming out of the gate.  No Ball is still quite depressing and I hope he starts to make progress but I feel he may be done for good.

Hi. I wanted to buy and reface real physical Bitcoin some years ago but…

Greets Tank

Wow, now don’t leave us hanging Tank!!…. lol

I’m very interested in what he had to say about his plans for wanting to buy a physical bitcoin (my guess is a Casascius coin ) and why he decided against it. My guess would be commenting to do with Russian laws and what not, but I’m very curious to know the actual truth…please keep us posted!
848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If not for Bitcoin on: October 15, 2023, 10:27:46 PM
I agree the “halvining” is certainly a big deal for bitcoin and adds a very important feature to it that helps separate it from other cryptocurrencies as well as traditional currencies, but I don’t think this is really the main reason why bitcoin is still at such a high value comparatively to where it could be (much worse off). I honestly think the hopes and dreams of btc become much more valuable is sadly a much bigger reason why btc is where it is.
849  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Roman Booteen Bitcoin Coin on: October 15, 2023, 03:45:57 PM
I just took another closer look and I really do think this was inspired by my painting! There is a guy with money on the ground that I had not noticed...probably depicting bankers.

Sun in the middle....frightened bankers on the right and ordinary people on the left .

While there are certainly some cool similarities, I really don’t think his idea was inspired by your painting (as absolutely awesome as that would be). This sort of ties in with other coins he’s made, and if I had to guess, his inspiration came from the Bible (or some sort of “holy book”). It just reminds me of things he’s done in the past.

But hey, I could be wrong 🤷‍♂️.  Regardless, can’t wait to get the replica in hand!
850  Economy / Collectibles / 1997 NFL Pinnacle Mint Collection Fine Silver Coins- Complete Set! on: October 14, 2023, 02:08:22 PM

I am posting this on behalf of a buddy of mine. Him and I are likely the two biggest collectors of Pinnacle Mint Collection coins. From 1996-98 NFL, MLB, NHL & NASCAR had a card/coin series (as some of you may remember).

There were all sorts of coins made for each year, but only 1 of 1 solid gold coins were made for each player and likely only 20-25 of each player for Fine Silver (NFL fine silver coins only produced for 1996 & 1997).. These were pack redemptions, making it all the more difficult to acquire.

This is likely the only complete NFL set you’ll ever come across again. This buddy and I got very lucky meeting a relative of a Pinnacle/Fleer/Donruss executive whom passed away and inherited these coins. Otherwise the likelihood of us completing sets (I completed my 1998 MLB fine silver set) would have been near impossible.

“Listed is the RARE, COMPLETE SET of the 1997 Pinnacle Mint Fine Solid Silver Coins! This is the complete set of ALL 30 coins! Set includes many Hall of Famers, such as Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Steve Young, John Elway, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, and Jerry Rice! It is believed that only 20-25 of each coin was ever made! Please use the pictures as a reference. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind”

If you’re interested let me know and I can help broker the deal. Bitcoin is accepted as a form of payment. Questions, please ask!

There’s a few links going around where you can get a replica of this beautiful one of one Roman Booteen coin. I’ve seen a few pop up on eBay as well as I was sent (thanks Tweet) this link from AliExpress - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805889914157.html?spm=a2g0n.order_detail.order_detail_item.2.1a92f19cTXq3xr&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

I placed an order for one. Will see what type of quality we are dealing with when it arrives and I will post a mini review here.

Cheers all- hope everyone has a great weekend.
852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Relying on gamble wins is dangerous to mental health on: October 14, 2023, 12:46:22 AM
So many topics like this each and every day it feels like, I wonder if there’s this many people actually this unaware of the potential harmful side effects of gambling, but I guess with all these stories, all the gambling help websites and hotlines I’m always hearing being promoted, I guess it’s a more seriously widespread issue than I realized.
853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 14, 2023, 12:43:49 AM
Football is great and all, but why can we only bet on the game when it’s clear that all people really care about is how many time the camera is going to show Taylor Swift, how many times the commentators are going to mention Taylor Swift, and when Taylor Swift will be leaving the game? I mean, Taylor Swift…

I was watching the Chiefs vs. the Broncos and on halftime one of the cameras was filming a bookshop which might have been near the stadium. On the the stand near the cashier were books about the NFL and beside these books were the books written by Taylor Swift hehehe.

In any case, are the Chiefs revenues and profits going down? Would it be shocking if this relationship between Kelce and Taylor Swift is fake and this was only another marketing tactic? It might also be working, I reckon.

Neither the NFL, the cheifs, nor Taylor Swift are losing money right now it's quite the opposite.  The NFL is better than it ever has been.  They are using this to onboard new fans (Taylor's fanbase) but it's not because they are hurting.  Just with any business you cash in on these opportunities.  Just sucks everytime you watch the cheifs you have to deal with it.  In the end people are going to get more annoyed and stop watching if anything.

I mean who knows if it’s really real or fake, though I’m honestly not of the conspiracy opinion on this one, I think Kelce legitimately is interested in Swift and is using/used his platform to make something happen. Good on him, I’d do the same.

But one thing is for sure as you’ve said, this is only a net positive for all parties involved money wise. Swift has her tour and movie coming out, the NFL brand is huge etc.
854  Economy / Economics / Re: What US can do with its dept? Genuine question. on: October 12, 2023, 10:38:10 PM
I hope that everyone knows that EVERY single country on this planet has plenty of debt to it's name.  Yes, of course the United States has the highest debt number globally, but there's also a reason behind that..the US is the worlds strongest economy, and therefore are able to pay their debt better than anyone else can, so this is why they are able to continue to build their debt.

Now I'm not saying this isn't a problem, because it is..but just pointing out why it's so high compared to the rest of the globe.  How are we going to fix this? There's many ways, but the way I see it, the problems are just going to keep getting worse by those whom don't truly care, and only truly care about lining their own pockets...issues then left for future generations.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoin and forget the investment on: October 12, 2023, 10:34:29 PM
I would agree with you that most of those "investing" in bitcoin should make a purchase/investment and let it ride.  I wish I had taken this advice from myself many years back when bitcoin was around 200 dollars.  That being said if you're good at trading digitial assets, have at it, but most people aren't..so trying to play the market, short term buys and sells here and there are likely less profitable than just buying and holding long term.  IMHO anyhow.
856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 12, 2023, 10:32:35 PM
As some have already mentioned I would imagine the reason he's doing it is because so many people are hitting him up for money now that they know he has some, and in his way of just avoiding it all together, it would seem he may be blocking most people out of his life for the time being so he doesn't have to turn people down asking for loans, as it's typically not a comfortable situation. This would be my guess anyhow.
857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 12, 2023, 10:30:50 PM
I would look up the definition of insanity if I were someone who's continually losing money gambling all the time.  But honestly if you're asking yourself this question, you probably shouldn't be gambling.  I would learn more about gambling, what it is, how it works etc before asking something like this.  People who ask these types of question tend to be the ones that end up with major gambling addictions (OP I'm not say this is you for sure or not, just if it is..)

I feel your pain, last week the Chiefs were on TV and I was about to switch channels when I remembered that Taylor Swift could be at the stadium so I just watched another game as I did not wanted to deal with 30 cameras pointing at her during the whole game.

And when it comes to the first round pick of next year, the Bears and the Giants have been mentioned, but the Patriots are right there, I do not think Belichick even needs to try to tank, the Patriots are that bad, and it is for this reason I am all for Mac Jones remaining as the starter since Zappy could win us a game or two by mistake.

Seriously... at the beginning it was too much input for me but now this is more and more fun each week. Already in for the next season if you guys plan it.
This is the third edition of this league and it has done nothing but to grow bigger each year.

We will have a fourth edition, do not worry. Wink

Dude this has to stop.  I can't fucking take it anymore.  As some of us have discussed in the Discord chat group, I think Taylor is a sweetheart of a girl, I think she's a very positive female role model for young girls who make up the majority of her fan base, but for the love of god the majority of the NFL fan base is not interested in when Taylor is at a game, where she's sitting, who's she sitting by let along getting MULTIPLE Adam Schefter live updates during the game about her.

She getting in that Kardashian type of territory with me, though believe me I know she's nothing like that swath of lowlifes. Speaking of what shitcoin scam is Kim promoting these days?
859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig "Faketoshi" Wright saga continues. His team turns against him. on: October 11, 2023, 05:39:52 PM
I was watching a couple YoutTube videos over the weekend having to do with bitcoin and Craig Wrights name was brought up.  I was shocked to see in the comments section that there are still so many people who support this utter moron.  He's so clearly not Satoshi, and Satoshi didn't spend all that time and effort hiding his identity to then one day come out as the creator.  I mean it just makes no sense at all.
860  Economy / Economics / Re: Honda Now Accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum As Payment Methods on: October 11, 2023, 05:37:47 PM
Wow!  I have to say this is something I was expecting but I'm sure glad to see.  In my humble opinion Honda is at minimum the 2nd best care company on the planet (I would say overall Toyota is probably #1).  So it really shouldn't surprise me all that much being that they are such an innovative company.

I would love to see Kia be next because I plan on buying a new car soon and Kia has a couple cars that I'm looking at very closely.
