8401  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why exactly is Bitcoin clinging to PoW? on: June 05, 2021, 04:38:57 PM
Let me clarify: I mentioned altcoins in the context that some of them are capable of being a tool for making Bitcoin transactions.
What exactly do you mean with this?

Regarding your statement about altcoins being better than bitcoin. As BlackHatCoiner, mentioned, it depends how you look at things and what features you consider when determining what is better. An altcoin that requires a transaction fee of a fraction of a cent is certainly better than if moving bitcoin requires 50 cents or a dollar. An altcoin with a block time of a second is better than bitcoin's 10 min average.

An altcoin whose transaction confirms in a few seconds but has no liquidity on exchanges and very little interest from the general public is not better than bitcoin. An altcoin whose value can rise 40% one day only to drop 60% the other is not better. A centralized altcoin whose transactions can be rolled back (as we saw with the Ethereum DAO hack) is not better than bitcoin because the interest of a few large investors are more important that the community. An altcoin that is quick and cheap, but has been 51% attacked with a few thousand dollars worth of investments is not better compared to bitcoin where you need millions of dollars to start and maintain the attack.
8402  Economy / Gambling / Re: List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets on: June 05, 2021, 04:19:33 PM
tower.bet, it has faucet but it has no real value as it is their own inhouse token TWG but it can be used to participate in the TWG race to win real coins. 20 TWG per claim IIRC
I will add Tower.bet in the next update. If their native token can be used or exchanged for another asset it ultimately has some sort of monetary value.

  • wolf.bet, it has 7 days streak reward but I'm not really sure about the amount
How does the stream reward work exactly? Sounds more like some kind of bounty where you have to complete certain tasks for a period of 7 days. If it isn't easily obtainable, I wouldn't consider it a free faucet.

bitdouble.io, it gives 500 satoshi faucet per hour if balance is zero.
I will take a look at Bitdouble as well, thanks!

$200 in freebitcoin to random users.
It's not $200 per user. It's a random reward, which (if you are lucky enough), can pay out up to $200. It can also pay less than a cent.

Fortunejak is acceptable but there's a requirement. You'd never gonna make money out of it unless you would just have to keep playing then. A new casino must learn this strategy.
Can you explain what you were trying to say here. All of the casino faucets can't give you a reward high enough for you to withdraw. You will have to roll those wins over multiple times to reach the minimum withdrawal limit. Check out my other thread, Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos if you want more info on those limits.

^ I confirmed there is, just because I was there before when I was participating in the Wolfbet signature campaign, they had a 7-day streak reward, come back each day and you will receive 0.00000090 BTC.
I just checked it, and it seems the award is 0.01 USDT, not 0.00000090 BTC. I didn't claim it and will try it again later. Maybe USDT is the defaut currency in my account for some reason. Are there any other requirements except just visiting the site once a day to receive those rewards? Can you play with the 0.00000090 BTC instantly, or do you have to wait for 7 days to be credited with the coins?

It would be nice if you could throw in an extra column to specify any cash out restrictions - I'm guessing at least some of them have requirements before they will let you withdraw any coins, such as wagering it a certain amount of times, high withdraw fees or even having a minimum withdrawal amount?
I guess I can put up a link under the table that players can check the withdrawal limits and minimum withdrawal amounts for some of the casinos in my thread, Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos. Good idea!
8403  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How can tainted coins becomes hard to be recognized by centralized services on: June 05, 2021, 11:27:28 AM
Has anyone here who uses gambling platforms, mixers, CoinJoins, etc., had their coins confiscated or blocked by a centralized exchange? What did they say and how was the issue resolved? I am trying to find out how widespread of a problem it is because I have never experienced it myself. Of course, you have to use centralized exchanges to get in those kind of problems. I am saying that to stop people from replaying they never had those problems because they use DEXs.
8404  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: prompt wallets for storing and buying cryptocurrency on: June 05, 2021, 11:12:08 AM
It all depends on how much time and money you are interested in investing into the security of your coins as well as the type of assets you are holding. Let's assume you are only talking about bitcoin.

First of all, you aren't storing "the coins" anywhere. Bitcoins are always on the blockchain. The software you use interacts with the blockchain and stores the keys that give you access to your coins.

The safest methods of storing those private keys are in airgapped computers and paper wallet. However, these two storage methods aren't the easiest ones to use, and if not generated properly/securely, can lead to the loss of funds. And an airgapped computer means that you have a separate PC/laptop that you could use just for that purpose. Many people don't or they don't want to go through the trouble of setting it up.

Hardware wallets are the 2nd-best option. They will keep your private keys safely stored on the device and offline. By introducing a quality passphrase or a SD card (when it comes to Trezor), you are increasing your security by an additional layer. But, hardware wallets cost $50-$100 or more depending on the brand/model.

When it comes to software wallets, you can't go wrong with Bitcoin Core or Electrum. Core is a full-node client that requires you to download the entire blockchain (about 400GB of data), and Electrum is an SPV-wallet that doesn't require a prior download of the entire blockchain.

At the bottom of the pond, you will find web wallets and user accounts on cryptocurrency exchanges. Those are not recommended as mentioned by the previous members.
8405  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Need a free api to calculate transaction FEE for instant confirmation on: June 05, 2021, 10:41:46 AM
The almost sure fire way is to pay the fee where the tx is within 1 MB from the tip. Your transaction will get included in the next one or two blocks.
That should be enough unless you are really unlucky and you send a low-fee transaction at a time where we have to wait for 30-40 minutes for the next block, while in the meantime a huge influx of new higher-paying transaction enters the mempools. Not to mention a sudden price surge or drop of value and the congestions they usually bring to the table.

Onaj champions league fantasy sam prestao igrati jer nisam mogao vidjeti koliko bodova sam osvojio u kolu.
8407  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: June 05, 2021, 10:08:28 AM
@Pmalek, how if you add one more column on the table for "type of the fee" as there are several type such as fixed, free, depends on network congestion, and adjustable?
It is not a bad idea and I have considered doing it as well. But it will mess up the whole formatting of the table. I don't think I can squeeze another table column to the right. It will look ugly on smaller displays, but I can try and see how it looks.
8408  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: June 05, 2021, 07:27:23 AM

8409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: June 05, 2021, 07:17:04 AM
Ok, but they didn't even create the SL, it failed in a few days.
The project stopped after only a few days, yes. But the clubs did create the league. They signed contracts to participate in it and they even signed a clause that the league could penalize them if they stepped out. That's what the 9 clubs did. They stepped out after being pressured by UEFA while Barcelona, Juventus, and Real still remain dedicated to making the league a reality.

For example, football at the Olympic Games is not a competition organized by FIFA.
Interesting, I didn't know that. Who is the governing body at the Olympic Games, the National Olympic Committee or someone else?
8410  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Sport i Kladionica on: June 05, 2021, 07:07:47 AM
Pokrenuo sam temu u kojoj sam napravio listu kripto kasina koji imaju besplatan faucet > List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets.

Sretno!
8411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A look at PayPal’s TOS and What it Means for Users on: June 05, 2021, 06:52:34 AM
<Snip>
Something similar was introduced by Skrill at the end of February, so I guess PayPal is copying their approach. It's good that their customers will finally have the ability to possess some real bitcoin. Paypal will certainly use this opportunity to earn even more money on the withdrawal fees it is going to charge its users. I doubt they will be cheap.
8412  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: June 05, 2021, 06:46:24 AM
Just checked two casinos (rollbit and duelbits).
There is a big difference for the withdrawal fee compared to the one on your table.
At the time of writing this post, fee in duelbits is around $5 and fee in rollbit is around $4
I think the fee on both sites is based on the latest network congestion, so I think it will be better if you add the same note as you add for betnomi.
When I originally created this thread, the withdrawal fees were much higher on those two platforms. That's because the value of bitcoin was much higher as well. In the meantime, we experienced a significant drop on the crypto market, and many casinos probably adjusted their withdrawal fees as well. I need to go over the list one more time and check what the updated fees look like, and I have to do that for all casinos. I will also add the same note I wrote for Betnomi for Rollbit and Duelbits.

Thanks for the hint!

Hey Pmalek, can I make a request to add CSGO500/ 500Play to the list?
They don't have an official ANN thread on Bitcointalk from what I can see, am I right? I found only this thread started by you. I can't check their reputation on this forum, so I will do a quick search and include them in the next update if I can't find anything that looks bad.
8413  Economy / Gambling / List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets on: June 05, 2021, 06:22:58 AM
Faucets are an excellent way to try out a new casino or a game without investing your own money. Instead, players can get some free coins for solving a captcha or a similar easy-to-do task. Of course, you won’t get a lot, but just enough to take your favourite game for a quick spin.

I manually checked popular crypto casinos to provide the Bitcointalk community with a good source of free faucets. I searched if they had a free faucet or not. The results of what I found can be seen in the table below.

I have not checked any crypto casinos with negative feedback on Bitcointalk, so I am sure more could have been added to the list. If you know of a good gambling platform with a free faucet, feel free to share that info in this thread. I will include it in the table, but only if the casino doesn’t have a negative reputation.

Let me know if this thread can be improved in some way.

Bitmex exchange is understandable, but what does Human Rights foundations have to do with Bitcoin, or Ecosystems in general?
I think this quote from their website will help you to understand their reasons for wanting to improve bitcoin:

Quote
In 2020, the Human Rights Foundation launched a fund to support software developers who are making the Bitcoin network more private, decentralized, and resilient so that it can better serve as a financial tool for human rights activists, civil society organizations, and journalists around the world.

A more private and scalable Bitcoin blockchain will help their own people and journalists to transfer money without giving the government and the elites they oppose an insight and a way to control who deals with whom and why. Check out the short video in the middle of the article in source link.
8416  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Nano Ledger S iskustva on: June 04, 2021, 10:54:52 AM

8417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: June 04, 2021, 10:46:06 AM
If this is true why don't teams in the premier league celebrate being relegated knowing there is a pot of gold that awaits should they win the championship trophy?
Because the pot of gold by staying in the Premier League is bigger than the one when you participate in the Championship for the reasons explained by cryptofrka. Less money from TV rights means a smaller budget for transfers and player salaries. If you don't have the money, you have to sell your star players who you can't afford to pay if relegated to a lower division. The players also don't want to play in the Championship if they can find a club in the PL and some have even clauses in their contracts that allows them to leave in case of a relegation.

From the juventus example you gave are you implying you are better off the only team standing after the group stage from one country to guarantee a lucrative prize.
From a financial point of view, yes. If Juventus is the only Italian club that reaches the knockout phases and lets say they reach the 1/4 finals, they'll earn more money than Spanish clubs Real, Barca and Atl. Madrid if all of them progressed to the knockout stages. Even if one of them reaches the finals and wins the competition, Juventus would have earned more.

As I understand the whole situation, the clubs that want to create the SuperLeague have violated UEFA's statutes, as long as they are members of the UEFA, they are not allowed to participate in any international competitions that are not approved by UEFA. This is stipulated by contract and since all these clubs belong to UEFA, they have also signed the contracts. Therefore, I can at least understand UEFA's point of view.
That's the thing that's on my mind as well. If there is such a clause in the signed contracts, the clubs would be in trouble. But then again, the legal teams of these clubs should know whether or not their clients are right or not. I see no reason to pursue the Super League if they are breaking the law and the contracts signed with UEFA and FIFA.
8418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: June 04, 2021, 07:24:03 AM
...fifa/uefa gives them money for the wins, and the more you win the more you earn, by the end when you become champions you earn a ton of money.
The teams don't earn a ton money, that's one of their reasons for wanting a Super League that can guarantee them up to $400 million yearly. They can never get that from the way UEFA distributes the money. The clubs are the ones taking all the risks when signing expensive players, but they aren't happy with the reward structure.

When you think about it, it's ridiculous. In some cases, getting a promotion from the English Championship to the Premier League earns those clubs more money than what winning the Champions League brings to the winning club. That's because the money is evenly distributed among participants from the same countries. Did you know that Juventus earned the most money from their participation in the Champions League in seasons were Spanish or German clubs won the league? Why? Because Juventus was often the only Italian club to pass the group stages and take part in the knockout phase. So they didn't have to share the money pool with other Italian teams. In Spain, you had Real and Barca always going far.

Compare what the participants of the UCL earn to what clubs make in the MLB, NBA, NFL, etc., and you will realize why they aren't satisfied. It's all about the money.
8419  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Amepay Team Back Cheat Hunters Again on: June 04, 2021, 06:58:59 AM
Unfortunately, that's the way it is with those bounty campaigns. You have to rely on their mercy to do what they promised they would, and if they don't there is nothing you can do about it except to complain. And complaining won't get you far. As yahoo62278 pointed out, both the Bitcointalk account of the project and their bounty manager are tagged. Since the forum is not responsible to monitor scams, they can't be forced to pay or give you anything. Those are the unfavorable conditions you accept when you participate in a bounty campaign.

I don't agree with the distribution delay, but all you can do is wait it out. Better get your tokens later than never, I guess.
