8401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stratis Is About To Fly? on: November 08, 2017, 07:22:03 PM
I keep some Stratis which I bought for $2.8 or so some time ago, so I hope the OP is right, even though the charts are rather calm and the chart on the link provided by op doesn't make much sense. Moreover, there's another objection that strat is mostly traded in pair btc/strat, so the price has to be predicted in relation to bitcoin rather than dollar. The price in relation to btc, as we can see on coinmarketcap, is not so promising and is even more generally down than with USD. I don't believe in Stratis as a project but as many people do I just keep some coins for profit.
8402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to invest in several altcoins simply? on: November 07, 2017, 08:24:55 PM
Right now, with the altcoins in a low price range, I am thinking of investing small amounts of money in 20 or 30 different altcoins and hold them indefinitely.

Is there a simple way to do this? Buy many in an exchange and store them in the same wallet?

Thank you for your replies
Αs in case on investing in various coins it is extremely uncomfortable to install all the wallets, I suggest you to use one exchange for most of coins. If you are new to trading then use bittrex. It is among the most trusted exchanges, it has low fees, low min investments and min withdrawals as well as lots of coin listed out there. For coins not listed there use exchanges where the majority of coin is traded to ensure objective prices. You can find this information on coinmarketcap when you click on a coin and then click 'markets'. Now the prices are low, so good luck with your investments!!!
8403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another ETH hard fork??? on: November 07, 2017, 08:13:39 PM
Around 930k $ETH (~$280M) are locked because of the Parity bug. The new Parity multisig wallet has a bug that let someone accidentally nuke every single wallet to become not withdrawable. A hard fork might be required to fix the bug.
This sounds terrible. I have seen even bigger numbers such as half a million of eth frozen on the client. How did this happen? There's no info on parity.io yet, but maybe it's not eth's fault after all? What if it's a problem with this wallets or even parity owners?
I can see this info on the cause of this issue: "it was possible to turn the Parity Wallet library contract into a regular multi-sig wallet and become an owner of it by calling the initWallet function". Moreover, it seems to have happened accidentally. Yet I do see that it is most likely that to unfreeze the assets eth needs to overcome another fork. Of course, there's always option to let that eth burn. We'll what what will be decided and by whom. I'm glad I sold my eth before all these hacks and bugs.
8404  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why i think the CME listing Bitcoin Futures is actually a bad thing! on: November 07, 2017, 07:58:55 PM
it is now very invietable that the bitcoin markets "spot" and futures will be heavily manipulated

Strategic Trading and Manipulation with Spot Market Power

Abstract

When a spot market monopolist holds a position in the corresponding futures market, he has an
incentive to deviate from the spot market optimum to make this position more profitable.
traders without market power can manipulate futures
prices because their trades can strategically reveal to market makers similar trades by the monopolist.

DETECTING MANIPULATION IN FUTURES MARKETS:
THE FERRUZZI SOYBEAN EPISODE

Abstract:
recent court and regulatory decisions have made
conviction of a manipulator problematic at best.
The ability to detect manipulation reliably suggests that existing regulation of
manipulation in futures and securities markets is inefficient because it relies on costly
preventative measures rather than ex post deterrence.

finally , it is a bitcoin forum afterall

HOW TO MANIPULATE THE BITCOIN MARKET

http://www.bsic.it/manipulate-bitcoin-market-introduction-13/
You are saying that bitcoin futures will be manipulated. Well, in a way - perhaps. However, not to forget that people always have to agree to buy or sell the coin at a certain price on a specific day in the future and that's how btc futures contract will work. This will leave some space to people making decision about the prices.
What's more, I don't think that CME will have serious impact on overall price of btc and make other exchanges adjust to it (= make users demand other prices). This exchange is big but notice that people are used to work with other kinds of products there and perhaps btc will not be very popular out there at all. If it will, though, it can bring btc to its end and even cause financial crisis.
8405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Will Jump To USD $10,000 Dollars By 25 December on: November 07, 2017, 07:48:59 PM
$10,000 per coin by Xmas is possible but no way is Satoshi going to reveal himself, not now. Not likely ever going to happen the latter.
Even a few weeks ago I thought there's no way btc will go up to 10k till the end of this year, but, if this risky segwit2x fork this month doesn't make btc assets split, it is a likely option. As for Nakamoto - I agree he/she/they won't show up, for it doesn't actually make sense to do that. I mean, btc is mostly out of the law and it might be considered as a business to get a coin created, so Satoshi might be forced to pay the taxes instead of being given Nobel Prize in Economics.
8406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fork? on: November 07, 2017, 07:38:12 PM
What is this Hardfork? Why is everyone afraid of it? Why do I hear people saying that we should sell out btc before fork?

What is this Hardfork?
The hardfork is the segwit2x attack on the network

Why is everyone afraid of it?
This attack is one of the biggest ever on bitcoin with never seen before of actors involved. The USG is really pushing this one far with Coinbase, Xapo, Bitpay, Jeff Garzik from Bloq, everyone in the DCG and bribed miners left and right.

Why do I hear people saying that we should sell out btc before fork?
There's no real reason, just a self fulfilling prophecy. It may pump for all we know.

If everything goes as expected, segwit2xcoin will die and will join the list of defeated hard fork attempts.
This is a great explanation, I didn't know the risk for btc is more than it even had.. I am sick of these stupid forks changing nothing and just putting btc at risk. I am now reading that 87% of miners are likely to support segwit 2x and, what's more, it is sort of hoped that this fork will merge with current bitcoin segwit (the original btc). I can see people talking about this November, by the way, but is there any strict date already? Before the date the price might go down like crazy.
8407  Economy / Services / Re: Bonpay.com | Signature campaign on: November 06, 2017, 10:03:41 AM

Increase minimum number of eligible posts to 40 per week;
Set a new rule for participants. Every participant should post min 5 posts in the Bonpay ANN thread per week. Time gap between posts should be at least 8 hours. Only constructive posts will be counted. If these conditions not accomplished - participant will not be eligible for payment.

Is the time gap related to posts in ANN thread? I mean, one participant can make a post in ANN thread and next time in 8 hours? Or is it somehow about the gap between posts in general (which makes 40 posts per week impossible)?
Also, I don't have anything against posting in your ANN thread, but I agree with the notion above that forum administrators might not be so happy about that... I have never seen a sig campaign with such a frequent posting in ANN thread required.. Perhaps you could reduce the fees and make a requirement of 1 post in ANN thread per week? Anyway, it is up to you to decide, of course  Smiley.
8408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for insteresting altcoins to invest in- short/medium - ~$10,000-15,000. on: November 05, 2017, 11:47:55 AM
Topic. I'm pretty busy recently so I don't have time to read 100000 of ANN's topic with 90%of scam coins. Any suggestions to take a look at, guys?
If you plan to invest short-time then I guess bitcoin is your only chance to get profit. Another fork is getting prepared and it was recently announced that CME will accept bitcoin via bitcoin futures contract. All these kinds of news don't do good to altcoins as you probably see on coinmarketcap and even good projects don't manage to get the needed demand, because people dump coins for the only bitcoin. Just buy I btc and you will have good profit till the end of this year. Altcoins can currently only be considered long-term, unfortunately.
8409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: which alt coin can keep 1-3 years with 100x profit? on: November 05, 2017, 11:37:58 AM
i recommend you to buy IOTA cuz of tangle . Look at EOS and look at SIA. Sia look soo good .
I like IOTA and hold it but it's already 40% down from the price on which I bought it... Somehow nobody cares about it being the only non-blockchain cryptocurrency and solving problems like tax fee and transaction speed! Moreover, for some reason a lot of people say about its bad reputation (even though I have never seen any real evidence against it). Maybe it is not such a good investment after all.
Op, I guess now the times are really bad for altcoins and it's hard to say whether they will ever win their dominance back over btc, because too many people are currently focused solely on it. I suggest you to buy real and trusted coins like ethereum and litecoin, because at least this way you are not likely to lose money. Perhaps you should also consider btc as an investment, because it's rising crazily.
8410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin fork in december on: November 05, 2017, 11:24:53 AM
I just say "enough". Those forks are turns the prices upside down  Roll Eyes I wait for the end of the fork for alt prices to go up, but another fork will cause delay.
I agree with you. All my altcoin investments are currently down and all due to these stupid hunts after free pseudo-btc created with the help of forks. The block will get increased up to 2MB in three months which can even lead to longer processing of transactions, because of them being 'heavy'. What's more, worst case scenario might lead to chain split along with assets which will seriously affect the real btc's users and price. I am against all these fork things, it's too much for btc.
8411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DEEPONION - My opinion!! Stay away on: November 05, 2017, 11:06:05 AM
Hi All,

What are your thoughts on this project and how it manages its airdrops?

My opinion is that it's run like a pyramid scheme. Anyone new interested in this project I would suggest not to participate in the airdrop as you'll l get peanuts.

You will be asked to buy 100 onions and then given 7-8% on your total which is about 8 onions. A complete joke.

The Dev team are very secretive and all hijack the airdrops. Ever heard of the devs participating in airdrops?? Well here it's a first. No funds put aside for the devs.

All my posts have been deleted because I asked about the Dev team etc.

There's no whitepaper and the coin is only on one exchange. Odd.

I was ready to invest some btc to this project thinking that I would get some incentives from the airdrops but I got indirectly told take it or lump it.

Some of the members do nothing but are rewarded 100x of coins.

Anyways my 2 cent. I would advise stay away because it's going to get dumped hard when the airdrops will finish.

I'm going to sell my small amount of deeponions and buy into projects like xtrabytes.

Ha-ha, I looked at their website and it is written that there are zero current airdrop participants out there! It's true that it is rather hard to find the dev team and that looks like a bad sign. Yet they seem to have already had airdrops before, so I guess there should be people who will say for sure whether they are legit on this matter. I can see that on this forum most of threads mention this coin is positive context, people believe in it, so perhaps the project has chanced even without known dev team and any relation to specific darknet websites.
8412  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Futures Sparks Fears For Financial Crisis on: November 05, 2017, 10:49:07 AM
I think that if they are going to trade the real bitcoin based on people agreeing to buy/sell btc for a certain price in the future then in truly is a risky thing, because more people will buy/sell/hold bitcoin without putting value in it and then suddenly it might end up the way that there aren't enough people who really want btc and the vast majority will try to sell it,but they won't be able to do that properly, because the price will crush. I hope something will intervene and stop people from adopting btc like crazy or otherwise it truly looks like a financial crisis case.
8413  Economy / Economics / Re: Will CME crypto product allow bitcoin manipulation? on: November 05, 2017, 10:37:41 AM
I read the official CME news and I didn't really understand what exactly are they going to do. It looks like they want to make btc available for purchase and they will regulate the price of btc on their Mercantile Exchange via some contracts with people that they will agree to buy/sell btc at the agreed price on a certain day in the future. Is that true? If it is then it probably will slightly regulate btc price, but only on this exchange (though a very big one), not on others we are used to.
As for some Spoofy having so many btc that he/she/they can regulate btc price - this doesn't sound very realistic to me, I think these are simply speculations on this matter and currently btc is not regulated by anyone.
8414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 1k in IOTA, Waves or SONM? on: November 04, 2017, 12:14:38 PM
If you had  1k

Which  one  would  you choose  among :  Waves, IOTA,  SONM?

This is  more  a  bet  than  a  reasonable investment,  help  me to  make the bet more  probabilistic, share your  opinions if you want

IOTA :  I have red  too  much bad things  in this   forum about this  project  and  I  am  afraid  to lose  choosing this,  anyway the idea is revolutionary...   the  question is: will it  succeed?

SONM:     revolutionary  idea , or   Hype?

Waves:  It seems the more  reliable   among the 3 ... but  reliable is  not a  word  that could be related to ALtcoins

so help me  please, sharing your  toughts

(I don't  want to  spread among the  3   because  MORE RISK MORE  REWARD,   A  SIMPLE MATHEMATIC  RULE)

What do you mean by bad things about iota? I think it is a great project but most of people seem not to realize it and who knows, maybe they never will. I hold Iota even though I have lost a lot of my initial investment on it so far. I believe in it.
As for Sonm - I don't really know what's it about but its rank and price drop don't look good to me.
Waves seems to be the most rational choice and the least risky one, because the platform is popular, it is working and has potential on the market to become highly adopted, because it is very easy to use it.
8415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how do you think what is the best application for crypto currency ? on: November 04, 2017, 12:02:11 PM
Cryptocurrencies are important because of not sticking to any specific country. Dollar can, for example be the coin that unites people, because most of them use it, but at the same time this would lead to complete USA dominance. Cryptocurrencies, on the other hand, can unite people from different countries without specific political context. They could also be very useful if they were accepted as means of payment throughout the world, because for now one has to convert the money into local currency in almost any country to buy something and I would say it's rather inconvenient.
8416  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will crash ? on: November 04, 2017, 11:52:50 AM
Hi guys, as you all know that hard fork date is coming near which will divide the Bitcoin in 2 parts Bitcoin and Bitcoin gold , what you think it will crash the btc and it will go to how much price
Hello. Bitcoin had a risk of crashing while upgrading to segwit. No natural split happened at that time and so btc managed to survive undivided. However, almost simultaneously there was a bitcoin cash fork provoked by its Chinese developers, so some said btc did split. As we can see, though, btc is totally fine and doesn't get very affected by bch. The impact from btg is close to zero, so in this case there is nothing even close to what can lead to bitcoin's crash.
8417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Government. on: November 04, 2017, 11:37:55 AM
Is it good combination about bitcoin and our current government? lets talk about this things if these two option was combined in the future, Our government used bitcoin and spread to every people in there countries. For me it is good. why?

Because:
1. Is good for all businessman for good transactions. Buy something and sell something.
2. Is good for payments needs to pay like billings every month.
3. For less time and moved for travelling on anywhere we want.
4. Its easy to transfer money from other country with less taxes. this favor is aprove for ofw's
5. Easy to transfer money if they needed immediately like emergencies. pay for medicine.

Theres a lot of good reason.
Bitcoin's aim from the very beginning was to split from government and not be controlled by a bunch of people. Fortunately, even if some laws appear to make btc regulated (say, tax laws) it will not really influence the decentralization. Marketcap is too big to be controlled by any government, even the richest one. There are other projects like XRP or Blackmoon which seek a way for btc to be fully legal and perhaps partially controlled by banks. Bitcoin is incompatible with government.
8418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: its Already 10 Days - No BTG Wallet till Now on: November 04, 2017, 11:20:29 AM
title says it all

its been a while since fork happened, still no BTG wallet
I surfing through their site and there's no sign of wallet. I will suggest you to use an exchange that support the BTG fork deposit wallet address now till the time when the BTG wallet will be implemented.
Come on, is it really a big surprise? Their website looked super-suspicious from the very beginning. Great ideas of giving a chance to small miners and all that, but the project was shady from the beginning with no strict plan of the idea's realization available. The only difference this fork made was that a lot of people bought the real btc while hunting free btg. On coinmarketcap bitcoin gold still has a sign "Futures", even though it is listed on various exchanges.
8419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BLOCKCHAIN TECNO WILL SURVIVE, bitcoin not on: November 03, 2017, 08:53:07 PM
I disagree with OP on this matter. Blockchain is a great technology but people get interested in this technology via getting acquainted with btc. For them btc and linux are the one, they don't think about other coins and projects on this tech. Thus, regardless to how innovative and awesome other coins might be, as long as bitcoin will exist it will be #1 and it is probably going to be throughout the whole history of blockchain popularity. Bitcoin is still worth more than all of the coins together and there are many people not caring about other coins at all.
8420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO do you prefer for November? on: November 03, 2017, 08:29:49 PM
Hi,

I want to put some BTC / ETH in an ICO.
I look at Blunner (automatic webdesign) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2242222.0

and some others: electroneum (for mobile mining), ammbr
Which one do you prefer?

I don't know, investment in ICOs is really hard nowadays. We keep seeking for good projects and lose money while we could simply hold btc and earn more. Sometimes the easiest way is the best. Electroneum idea is genius (though ICO's over) but the price is currently very low and I see people being already, because it has fallen down in price 2x within one day.  At the same time, I don't know of any better projects, so maybe investing in icos is just unreasonable in general lately.
