8401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Interested in Mining Ethereum on: February 10, 2016, 10:05:51 AM
But have no idea how to go about and am not very technical.  Are there any companies or individuals that will set up mining operations for a fee?

Ask yourself these questions:

1. What is the motive of a company that mines for you? If they build, deploy, host, colocate, maintain, and consult you for a fee, why wouldn't they just mine for themselves if they already know how to do everything? What is the reason for you to exist in this scenario?

2. If you realize that the only reason for you to exist, is because you have money, and they don't, congratulations, you are on "step 1". If they are an established business, why don't they take a business loan at 6% interest from a real bank instead of paying your "share" of the profit of up to 50%/month?

3. If you realize that the only reason for them to take your money is because they are shady or scammy, congratulations, you are on "step 2". So, why would you risk giving them any money?

4. If you realize the only reason for you to give them money is because you are a certain combination of lazy, stupid, and greedy, congratulations, you finally arrived at "step 3". Now you can finally begin to learn how to mine yourself with the resources commonly available online.

You are right. If you can rent the rigs directly through Nicehash, you will have to pay the market rate, there is not much profit to make.

If somebody is very rich and he can install many nodes, but he cannot afford many miners, can he control the network by controlling the nodes?
8403  Economy / Speculation / Re: Christmas Call: $700 on: January 17, 2016, 11:38:01 AM
We where hoping for a high increase in Christmas, but it didn't happen so I was sad in that day for bitcoin.
But that is oke, because when the bitcoin drop we could have bought a lot more of bitcoin and wait for halving.

How can you be sad when the price went up nearly 100% this year. Expecting the price to go up on Christmas just because it's a special time doesn't mean the price will go up.

He might happy when the bitcoin rises 30% on the Christmas day. However, Christmas is just a holiday, nothing to do with money making.

If you have good CPUs (AES_NI), you can mine Monero. It is very efficient to mine with CPU than with GPU.

Christmas is two days away. I think we will not see $700 before 25th. The price will not rise to $500 either.

not even for the last day of the year at this point, i think traders will go on festivity and do a rest in trading, so 440 is a good rock solid value for now

no need to hurry up and reach 1k now, there 2016 for that, anyway 440 it's a nice goal for 2015, i'm fine with it

$440 is the double the 2015 lows of around $220. So it is already higher than most of us expected.
