8441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ELECTRONEUM ? on: October 18, 2017, 06:45:47 PM
I have invested but purely for short term. I think the hype will take this coin quite high and I'd be curious to see if the developers can convert the hype to something productive and working.

If it was expensive to buy the tokens I'd have passed but the tokens are cheap as chips so why wouldn't you invest a little?

I agree that this coin is very likely to provide short-term profit at least because of it being legit and extremely popular among investors. Moreover, there's even a signature campaign dedicated to this coin right now! As for long-term perspective.. the project sound totally awesome but we don't know whether the realization will be on an appropriate level and whether it's even possible to do that, since I guess this is the first mobile mining project.
8442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake on: October 18, 2017, 06:35:26 PM
I guess most of coins with pos were already named here. As for the question about ethereum, it's actually a very good one, since ethereum must go pos some day, it can't remain pow forever. Ethereum byzantium hardfork is sort of ongoing and claimed to be stable, but I'm not really sure anything has changed. The block reward is 40% decreased and the difficulty bomb will explode in a year or so. Thus, eth is still mineable and will not become pos until 2018.
8443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: WHAT IS THE BEST ICO??? on: October 18, 2017, 06:15:07 PM
It's really hard to say and investing in ICOs is always risky. Nevertheless, the most popular ongoing ICO is probably Electroreum. There are only a couple of days left with it. Electroneum's team is experienced and the coin itself is British which perhaps makes the risks lower (I've seen one guy who said it is better not to invest in coins made by people from highly corrupted countries). In general, it's all about the idea of mobile mining via playing a game on a smartphone and at least this coin seems to be completely scam-free.
8444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Electroneum bigger and better than Bitcoin? on: October 17, 2017, 07:22:18 PM
Electroneum is a British currency, so I guess it has nothing to do with Americans at all. As for the currency itself, a lot of people have been talking about it. I think it's not a scam but probably a legit attempt to make cryptocurrencies closer to people through their phones. It's nice they have an app and that mining is supposed to be possible via the phone but isn't it going to make accumulators exhausted? How are they going to deal with that? Their gaming aspect of earning tokens is actually genious though. Yet I don't think it can even come close to bitcoin anyway. I won't invest in this ICO but I might buy some coins after the release.
8445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Hold more Bitcoin or Buy Altcoin in the red zone on: October 17, 2017, 07:11:17 PM
I prefer to buy at dips and sell at highs. So its time to buy for me.
Its a simple method to make profit in short term.
That depends on what you call 'short term'. It's been a month since altcoins dropped and they are not even close to recovering now, whereas bitcoin was the coin which could give one profit in a small period of time. What if they won't recover at all? Or if they will keep growing very slowly with some regular drops? I think that now altcoins are rather good long-term, because I believe that btc's dominance in general will slowly decrease anyway.

I prefer you buy as many as possible altcoin in the red zone. It can give you bigger profit than bitcoin gold
Well, I guess altcoins are certainly better than bitcoin gold which is actually ruining btc itself and has no real chances of improving mining (if that's the fork I'm thinking about, 'cause there've been a lot of forks planned for the nearest future).
8446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When bitcoin price goes up,altcoins prices goes up too? on: October 17, 2017, 06:59:31 PM
Altcoin prices against USD yes its going up too. But against bitcoin this is little complicated.
As for now bitcoin is rising but eth/btc is falling.
I think there are no strict connections between prices at all. There were times when bitcoin was growing and altcoins mostly followed it. Good example is May 2017, when btc was rapidly going up as well as ethereum, Nem and some growth of litecoin's price. As for September 2017, ethereum dropped till the middle of that month in USD, as well as litecoin and NEO dropeed superhard. Bitcoin dropped at first but than started recovering very fast and has now reached its maximum whereas most of alts are still suffering from the drop of price in USD.
8447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Cryptocurrency - Inequality on: October 17, 2017, 06:49:06 PM
Today I happen to notice the Bitcoin price has gone up to 5400 level. Why there is no big activity in other alt coins. I feel 54% of market cap is Bitcoin. So does it mean alt coins have no value.

I feel there big inequality or all other all coins in no way par with bitcoins as it is market leader and it is distancing itself from others in Price.
You are right, bitcoin's dominance on the market has grown and I think it was rather unexpected, for more and more currencies were created and getting their bites of the general market capitalization. It's funny, though. Bitcoin was all about being against the center, whereas now it is itself the center of the market, the thing that influences choices of traders and makes them dump the periphery.
Bitcoin was a crypto pioneer that's why it is stable and reliable. many people believe it. some altcoins are underscored

Yes, bitcoin is reliable and sort of stable. Yet it would actually be better for people to use different coins instead of concentration on this specific one, because currently the transaction fees are sometimes really high whereas the needed time is still very long. Moreover, surely there are lots of coin offering things bitcoin will never be able to offer, like smart contracts.
8448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long since you entered the crypto market on: October 17, 2017, 06:38:07 PM
1 month! damn!
I am so late joining this game  Cry
But better late than never eh Wink
I think it doesn't matter a lot. Newbie can make an awesome investment, whereas an experienced trader can make huge mistakes. Too much depends on luck here.
Only one month, and lesson learned: do not trade alt coins too much!
Yeah, I guess trading isn't something working out well, especially lately. I remember this awesome time before last summer when most of coins kept growing and it was really easy to invest and get some profit. After Chinese bans a lot of things changed including huge drops in prices of almost all altcoins. Even though they are green on coinmarketcap mostly, they didn't actually recover yet.
8449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Stellar Lumens on the Moon right now! on: October 16, 2017, 09:13:12 AM
Do you see what I see? +173% on coinmarketcap! At first I thought that it's just that the price went crazy on some odd exchange like Etherdelta but no, the current price is accurate on Poloniex and Bittrex! Is it because of this news: http://fortune.com/2017/10/16/ibm-blockchain-stellar/?
I wonder whether it is possible to know about such price changes in advance somehow and not when it's too late to invest.
8450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are keep coming down, when do you think one can start buying altcoins?? on: October 16, 2017, 08:58:58 AM
Altcoins are keep crashing, as Bitcoin keep on rising to the new highs. So when do you think one can start buying altcoins??

I havent sold a single altcoin yet and keep buying as much as possible for a few days. There are really good opportunities in many altcoins at the moment and Now it is a very nice time to buy. Any altcoin you buy at top #10 will bring you extra 30-40 as minimum for next 3 4 weeks.
Maybe you are right. When the prices are low it's usually great time to buy. Yet it is hard to do that, because you see that you sold some btc for investments in altcoins and lost quite a lot of your initial investment but overall lost not so much if you convert the price into dollars solely because bitcoin's price is growing so hard!
I hope altcoins will recover. I still hold stratis, blackmoon, IOTA (long-term) and litecoin (long-term as well).
8451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves on: October 16, 2017, 08:49:58 AM
Can someone give me a quick rundown on Waves....

Why should I invest in that if at all?? I just created their wallet and they are taking sick buy fee. If I buy waves for 50 euro I only get Waves worth 41 Euro  Shocked Shocked Shocked

Okay, here you go. Waves is a platform for releasing customized tokens instead of creating currencies (although I guess you can create currencies as well). Creating tokens there is probably simpler than registering of facebook and that is very important for its potential success. The currency is made by Russians and its creator doesn't seem very professional to me but that's rather a subjective opinion. What is awesome about Waves' idea is that if a token released on a platform becomes demanding, so does the Platform and its original coin. Thus, waves is likely to grow in price with time but who know what will happen in the future. As for the buy fee - just sell your euro for btc and buy waves on an exchange like bittrex, thus you will avoid such problems. You can send waves bought on bittrex to your wallet afterwards.
8452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Putin wants CryptoRuble on: October 16, 2017, 08:39:20 AM
I didn't find anological news in Russian, so I guess it's more of a speculation about Putin. What I did find is a member of the National Banking Council of Central Bank of Russia Aksakov saying that there's some official research in Russia on the market of cryptocurrencies and that he doesn't believe that Russia will actually release its own currency but perhaps something like that (and he calls it 'cryptoruble' just because it sounds nice for him) is planned. You can see it in Russian here: http://cryptoconsulting.info/ru/2017/news/crypto-ruble-whether-or-not-it-will-be-and-if-so-what/
8453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: An open or a closed ICO? on: October 16, 2017, 08:28:29 AM
what do you mean by closed ICO ? like cindicator ?
As this ICO is now over, I can't get the difference between it and icos we call open. They do have a team and white paper, everything seems public to me. Or is the question about whether it is better to invest in an ICO or in a coin after ICO is over? In this case I would definitely prefer the second option, because at least it guarantees you that you surely will be able to sell your coin just as you bought it on some exchange.
As for Cindicator specifically, it does look really shady and is forbidden in the US as stated on their official website.
8454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Νimses coin/network - help me understand it! on: October 15, 2017, 10:41:42 AM
So I was at the university and a friend of mine to whom I was telling about cryptocurrencies asked me whether it is like the nimses she uses. I had no idea what Nimses was at that time and everything she was saying was both making me think that it is a cryptocurrency and that it is not. Today I finally googled it and found out that the project is wholly Ukrainian, so most of you guys probably never heard of it as well. Here's their official website: https://nimses.com/.
What I know so far is that it is a social network for smartphones where each minute of one's life generates one nim (virtual coin) and sends it into the wallet which is embedded into one's profile in the network. One can buy coffee, burgers and stuff like that in some cafes paying with these coins! This looks like a mobile phone mining to me, but on the other hand there's no information about nim as a cryptocurrency. Could you help me find out what that is or at least point at similar projects made by Americans or someone else? In Ukrainian wikipedia it is written that nimses is fully unique but this information might not be very trustworthy,
8455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DNT is pumping on: October 15, 2017, 10:24:37 AM
It is still not on Bittrex. And don't forget that a lot of people probably lost huge amounts of money investing in this coin in August. The price is still hugely down even though it's now 43% up on coinmarketcap. It is surely a risky investment and what's more there was already the case where most of coins were down and this one was 50% up. 0x is a nice project and I don't understand why is district 0x even around.
8456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Strategy for Buying Alt coin on: October 15, 2017, 10:13:49 AM
Dividing your portfolio up like this is a great idea - but instead of using the cost of one coin use the entire market cap of the coin.
You could still have 3-4 categories but this way you’re categorising risk based on market cap,
If you divide your risk based on coin cost (as you have done here) it’s based on not much other than cost of 1 coin (which doesn’t mean much given totally supply).
Good point about market capitalization rather than the price, for it's obviously more important. For example, melon is worth $70 but nobody cares, because it's marketcap is just some 49 million dollars and trading volume (another factor to consider before buying an altcoin) is around $220k.
strategy....sell at the peak and rebuy in at the drop.
The problem is that some coins drop and don't even recover from the drop and this makes one still lose a lot of money. A good example is dogecoin which is not that bad but is dropping in price with time even more.
8457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ❤️ Stratis ❤️ BUY now less than $2.86/unit, oversold indicator set up on: October 15, 2017, 10:00:30 AM
Stratis is a great project with huge potential. Bring on the rocket
IMO stratis has no potential and is a clone of ethereum with pos added to it. At least, I haven't seen anything interesting in their whitepaper which mostly simply explains what blockchain, smart conrtacts and proof of stake is. Yet I am sure that the price of less than 3 dollars is good, because, as they have good marketing and a lot of people believe in this project for some reasons the price is likely to at least reach $6 thus providing a 2x profit which is awesome short-time. I guess I'll sell my NEO and buy stratis right now.
8458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: best ico coming... on: October 15, 2017, 09:50:39 AM
You better do some research before investing in ICO.
First thing first, whitepaper,it describe the bigger picture of its project, almost everything in it.
And then the team and everyone behind it. I can't recommend you any ICOs since it's risky.
So you better decide it for yourself.

There's been a lot of discussions about spotting a good ico and differentiating between good icos and scams. I think the main things to remember are as follows:
1. Website. It's important for ICO to have a website and it should look impressive.
2. White paper and team. You should read the paper and info about the team to find out whether the ico is potentially legit.
3. Number of participants in ICO. I think that the more people trusted the ICO and invested in it the less risk it is for you.
4. Where there other projects like this? Is the idea truly innovative?
5. Is the goal of this ICO at least potentially achievable?
8459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is IOTA's price still down? on: October 13, 2017, 09:07:08 AM
IOTAs price is hard to gauge because people get to know cryptocurrencies and learn about the technology and its potential by looking at blockchains... and then comes IOTA with a totally different approach and its tangle system, most people would prefer blockchain to succeed.
I get this argument, but isn't looking at currencies only if they have blockchains a big limitation? Why not to see something else, something completely different and yet working? Perhaps IOTA just has bad marketing. Maybe if they made nice videos on tangle technology people would've trusted this currency more.
IOTA was overpriced to me when I looken into it after theymos's post. I think correction is understandable. Also there are some ridiculous rumors about iota developers on forums I won't mention as I don't know if its true. That might create trust loss.
I don't know what you mean by those rumors, because I took a look at their dev team and saw that they hired a lot of new nice people in September and the team in general is rather experienced and seems totally legit and reliable to me.
I think it's not only IOTA not going up, it's all altcoins. And the reason is probably the upcoming bitcoin forks... people are getting money out of alts and putting them in BTC to get free coins at forks.

Well, you are probably right as for right now but IOTA's been going down even when other coins were doing okay... It's still #10 in marketcap which is nice, but I think that even that is not fair, because it's more interesting than DASH and litecoin IMO.
8460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Small projects that have room for potential realistic 10x-50x growth on: October 13, 2017, 08:44:27 AM
I love investing in small market cap projects (5-15 million) and have made a ton doing so already by guessing correctly. I put 20 ETH into DNT during their ICO and sold it on the way up at 17x (it maxed at 25x) for close to 331 ETH. I sold my QRL for 15x the ICO price right after it hit exchanges. And now I'm up 5x on Chainlink already...still holding it though.

My question is - what are the next projects with the potential for this kind of growth? I ONLY want to hear about very small cap but otherwise solid projects. I don't care if an ICO is inventing the next wheel - if they're asking for 150 million I don't care to invest in it.
You tell us, for your investments appeared to be extremely successful. After investing in eth and ltc which turned out great, I tries to make short-term investments but as a result lost about 35% of initial investment already. Seeing how fast btc grows I am trying to think that probably the easiest solution is the best one. Maybe we should stop thinking so hard about proper investments in altcoins and simply keep the money in btc.
