8481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: January 25, 2018, 09:43:18 PM
Just read the notice on Poloniex. I must say it's much better than Bittrex, they won't even block users from withdrawing their funds, while Bittrex won't even update the fact that you're not allowed to withdraw, or even the reasons why you can't withdraw, and from what I've been reading and experiencing, they won't even email you back when you email them about not being able to withdraw (keep in mind that at first you have no idea what's going on). It sucks that I will have to send them my ID in order to get all my money out and use another exchange. And I rather not use Bittrex again simply because the way in which they are handling this just feels very, very shady, that it really does not make me trust what they would do with users information. Look at how Poloniex actually gives you a warning, versus complete secrecy by Bittrex.

They have and they are blocking withdrawals. In fact the very same people that made polo what it is today are the ones getting screwed by it right now as we speak. waiting months to remove what you have invested for years is a tough pill to swallow especially while you are watching your return evaporating.

Anyone using polo for anything but penny trading of shitcoins is screwing themselfs over and has no one to blame but themselfs when they get boned. the warnings are all over this board and the interwebs at large.
8482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 25, 2018, 09:28:42 PM
All anon coins are great. ..

Untrue, but on the surface you would think that statement is correct but false coins claiming to be opaque are more dangerous than ones that are transparent as when they fail it taints all the others because the sheeple are just that stupid.

Even if you are not doing anything illegal, privacy is still a must. Our privacy is sacred. And the gov is not should not be allowed to violate that.
If govs make it illegal for people to use anon coins? Then let us make it even more anon so that they wouldn't know about it in the first place.

FTFY and agree with your sentiment but not sure how to accomplish your last statement. Well actually I have an idea on that but not willing to share. Tongue

What is Robinhood Crypto?

Robinhood is an app that lets you trade u.s. equities without any fees. Robinhood Crypto is Robinhood for crypto.

So no fee trading? Where is it centralized?

Ehem, ehem,

XMR users are attracted to anon coin for a reason...and usually, most of them want to remain anon as well... Wink

There are multiple reasons for being part of the Monero community although lately you would be hard to find anything other than moon people.

If that happens, it will probably encourage anon coin lovers to like it more...

Some people just love the bad boy (outcast) of the lot. Smiley

True that it will attract more anarchists and the like but as far as Users go it will be detrimental as if it is made criminal then just having the software could get you jail and or worse in some countries so that would cut out a huge chunk of the people that this is designed to help. It would not be a zero sum game but a net loss IMO.

Why and how will government make it illegal?  Coins are inanimate objects...it is the action or use of it that may be criminal...not the coin.
The Why is Control

and the How is below.

Well currently anyone using crypto can be tagged even if nothing else is known about what they are holding so the popo's can tell if your using crypto and if it's illegal then they seize you stuff and jail you. Pretty straight forward I would say. This is pretty much why Korvi is being developed for monero and no I don't want to quibble about VPNs and isp sniffing and so forth. Suffice to say that if they want to find out with todays tech They Can and they will. You can believe me or not that is your choice but you can also look up my posts and see I have warned for years about using cpu's since microcode insertion and only now is it coming out that anyone using those can be slammed in the ass.
8483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All coins are now dying, what do you think? on: January 25, 2018, 09:20:57 PM
Who would would have guessed a moon shot of an entire market would have a retrace? Oh wait, EVERYONE that has half a brain! The funny part is BTC is still about 15 times what it was worth last summer! Of course all alts are tied to BTC, why would anyone think otherwise?

The real question is where is the new floor??? That answer is what will make and break fortunes.
8484  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 1st Annual Super Bowlero Pool on: January 25, 2018, 08:51:23 PM
Ok, I updated the OP so far.  But so far so good! We got more people wanting to play within the first day than we could muster up for fantasy football; so that in itself is a good sign.

On the thread I had on /r/Monero trying to get people to play, someone came up with a really good idea in order to randomly generate square spots.  I'm still open to doing something else or doing things like I initially proposed if it seems better, but I suggest everyone to read this reply I got in terms of assigning people squares.
...

This sounds fine to me, it's not like we are trying to generate a random seed for a genesis block of a trusted system. Cheesy

0.02 moneronis seems good to me. About $6.30 each square today.

Any interest in having a winner each quarter?

I was thinking of this too and agree.

I don't know if I could trust that exchange since their's so many reliable bad feedback against them and I can't even disclose that one since its critical issue regarding on exchange matters, and if they can screw up those guys then they have a capabilities to do it also on us. We should step out on this and used the other trend asian exchange which can do better performance than them.

I am seriously considering going to a Korean exchange, the only reason I haven't yet is the uncertainty of the crackdown there. I like The volume on BitThumb.
8487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 25, 2018, 08:24:34 PM
Too bad that no big social media campaigns about monero,if we have some decent social media campaigns 2018 is the year of monero ,i personally think next to bitcoin the only coin next to it is monero,(maybe ethereum and monero might share the 2nd place but not ripple or anything)

I thought that was what all the reddit we got a million new users thing was about?

In reddit its there im talking about facebook and twitter ,recently people who has no idea in crypto also invested in bitcoin boom in december and ethereum, like that monero is not popular among common people ,thats my point

That is my point, I thought "people who has no idea in crypto" masses went to reddit to upvote inane posts and have one big moderated circle jerk? Whats the difference between that place and fagbook?

The Monero subreddit is pretty misleading, yes it has 100k subscribers but I dare say it isn't at all active for having 100k subs.

You still see posts on the front page with like 1 upvote that is up for 10+ hours (sometimes a day) which just shouldn't happen for a subreddit of that 'size'

I think its mostly because the overwhelming majority of people in crypto only care about the price then they realise they aren't allowed to post anything about the price then get shunned to an even more inactive subreddit.

I have no clue there, I post a reply and then cannot even find my own post. that place sucks.

Folks, I believe Monero but I also believe Assian markets are the most significant markets for Monero demand. China banned something, South Kore is also talking about a regulation. How willl these things affect Monero's price?

I'm pretty sure Monero will rise up hard with the market demand very soon! Thanks for your time.

It's seriously effecting exchanges, thats for sure.

Robinhood Crypto announced today. Starts with BTC and ETH no-fee trades, but starts with market data for XMR and a few others, so expect RC to do no-fee order flow on more tickers soon-ish.

And: tighter capital controls will always be very very good for Monero.

What is Robinhood Crypto?
8488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you shouldnt be shorting on: January 25, 2018, 10:23:00 AM
The only coin I've ever got burned on shorting is ETH and that's because that market is completely irrational even compared to alts in general! Smiley

I certainly wouldn't short ETH. Think about a coin like Bitconnect, I wouldnt even recommend shorting it because look how long it took for people to actually figure out it was a scam and for it to crash. The market is insane right now.

I had to hold an ETH short for 3 months and had to buy my margin up a few times but I eventually got paid. It was hairy a few times but everything that goes up must come down eventually.

I've been waiting for the email confirmation link for 27 days now... Polo has not responded to my ticket since 26+ days:

Are they not accepting new users or something Huh

With all the people getting screwed by them why would you even try to register? Are you one of those people that like...

Has anyone successfully upgraded their poloniex account recently? Submitted documents about 3 weeks ago now and heard absolutely nothing.

Used exactly the same documents with Kraken and upgraded to Tier 3 within a week. Not used it for trading yet, are fiat withdrawals from Kraken reliable?

All I can say is that you shouldn't hold you breath---I put in a support ticket ~3 months ago to get my limits changed and they have yet to respond. Their thread here and reddit page are filled with disgruntled account holders with outstanding tickets or unfulfilled limit verifications.

I filled in registration stuff,

Im in the queue? maybee

It said I could track the process looking at my profile.

But that just shows the form as if I never sent anything, is that right? or did my thing fail? no email?

You can ask on their thread here or on reddit, but it's unlikely you'll get a response. TBH I have no idea if they're processing anything or not--it has been a shitshow for awhile. Hope it goes through for you.

I waited close to 4 months before they replied to set up a Skype meeting. That went down last week and the upgrade was supposed to happen within 48 hours but of course, nope. So, I'll have to follow up and probably wait some more.

They have used up any good will they had left quite awhile ago now, I doubt they will ever be more than a shitcoin haven from here on out. Short term greed and lack of foresight have done them in when if they had just limited their growth and taken care of their community they would have ended up near the top for years to come. Once that trust is lost it's gone for the foreseeable future.

I'd love to know how much they got out of him when they dropped the hammer before the fake suicide.

Seriously?  You think so?

Of course, just look at his worth in hidden funds and his location when he got busted.

Sounds good, if I can get my btc back from coinbase and grab some Monero's in time I'll buy some squares. Teach me to try to pull out when BTC was 17k thinking I could get back in with M0ar! Cheesy

I would like to lock up 07 and 70 for now.

Also JW is fine for Escrow again or cAPSLOCK, both are trustworthy and .02 sounds good.

Ok sounds good... just know that "locking up" those spots doesn't mean those spots are guaranteed to have the same numbers associated with it.  I'll put you in those spots in the mean time though Smiley

Yeah we're gonna pull from a hat, just trying to be funny. Smiley

So IOw put me down for 2 definite spots right now. And I fully expect that combination to get pulled from the blockhain for me. Tongue

Your supposed to post that meme after I don't get them! Doh :^)

I'd say those that speculated on the 777 that are regulars here will be pretty spot on.

Bah.  I am an exception.  I believe I picked the earliest day available.  Certainly it has passed.  This is a function of my inability to predict price.  I don't even try.  Trends, yes.  Price?  Not so much.

Yup, I Buy when you say sell Tongue Tongue Tongue

Sell?

Fixed! Smiley I sell when i go all in fiat and get screwed everytime

If one insists on dying in a Bangkok jail cell, paying high fees just adds insult, I guess.   Go BCash!

I'd love to know how much they got out of him when they dropped the hammer before the fake suicide.
