I guess it depends on whose opinions you give a shit about, if any..

Taking back the rainbow for stoners

Nobody owns rainbows, they're a natural phenomenon. I do have a particular issue with the way the alphabet people are using it because they originally were using it to promote tolerance but now it's all about exclusion and all sorts of nonsense.

Sorry to show one of my pet peeve "insensitivities," but one of my semantics issues concerns the calling of pregnant woman as people... "People" need blah and blah and blah.. , and in that context the reference is to  "pregnant people" which in my thinking is quite a bit better (and less ambiguous) to refer to as such "pregnant people" as women.. or some variation of women that does not include men (or some variation of men).

https://twitter.com/raphschoen/status/1448012347533107202?s=21

Exactly what I tell new peepers well

Just add 5. At bigger DIPS buy some more if possible.

Also to take it a step further:

Take at least 50% of the money you would sink each year into your 401k, and invest that directly into bitcoin instead.

Then compare the two investment vehicles' progress at 5 years, 10, 15, 20.

You'll quickly realize how sorry you are that you didn't invest the other 50% into bitcoin as well.

That is a fairly BIG dilemma for normies.  I feel somewhat out of place to be contemplating such dilemma - because the main years that I was investing into a 401k, I did not really know about bitcoin - so my getting into bitcoin was to replace my 401k investment with a new investment... and I was no longer eligible for 401k investing at the time that I started buying BTC in late 2013.

So the dilemma is to have a potential for matching funds and tax deferral.  Depending on the 401k plan, the matching funds will likely go up to a certain percentage of income or a certain amount of income.... I had the first 5% matching funds and then after that I could invest up to the yearly maximum with merely tax deferral.  I always considered that there were a lot of advantages in terms of investing at least as much as the matching funds, and then after that it was more ambiguous about what to do in terms of maxing out the yearly allowance.  Probably, I would still say to maximize the matching, and then just invest at least the same amount into bitcoin, if that were to be affordable.. so kind of assuming 10% of income into those two investments (5% 401k and 5% bitcoin)... but surely, individual circumstances should be taken into account in order to figure out these kinds of matters, and if your budget might allow for more.. or maybe if yo might be over extending yourself, too in terms of all of your monthly expenses in light of your income (monthly cashflow).

Well the wife has always been super super conservative with her 401k.

So we let it sit and grow at 1-2% not counting inflation So I would argue it is slowly shrinking.

But It allows me to justify the btc we have.

If all goes well we will have more in BTC by 2022 then we do in the IRA.

So having safe money is okay it allows you to also have risky holdings.

Question for BobLawBlaw and all of the Wo

You are cruising for a date, wearing those glasses, if you get what I am trying to say.

There in lies my issue.

I am not looking for a date.

I happen to like rainbows and think the glasses look nice.

Maybe I could change the lettering on my jacket

"To sorry I am already taken"  Grin

@ El duderino_

Whatever Shatner is taking I want it.

I would love to look that way in 26 years.

Damn 90 is not far off!

"Rainbows are for everyone".

Seems to be best choice for the jacket lettering. Along with the glasses of course Grin

I am a 64 year old white straight guy.  If I wear these eyeglasses

and a dungaree jacket with the wording

"I am taking back the rainbow for straight people"

across the back , am I an a-hole?

I always liked rainbows since I was  kid and now rainbows seem to be gay property.

Not trolling just starting a dialog.

BTW I could write  "rainbows are also for straight people".

Much less aggressive your opinions are welcome

Well I ordered the glasses as I always liked rainbows 🌈 .  Frankly its not a question of caring about opinions it is more that rainbows look nice and I have always liked them. I find it annoying that wearing the glasses will likely cause multiple a-holes to bother with me when I simply like the color pattern.

8493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to avoid cheap farm build on: October 12, 2021, 03:59:43 PM
Don't even think about it, the only wiring I've ever done is putting my graphic cards and motherboards together or doing a paper clip between two power supplies for a motherboard, anything other than this I'm hiring someone lol, while I decided to build a solar farm I got all the equipments myself and hired a pro to install for me, do the same and be free of dangers

we have multiple locations

a 400 amp 3 phase with 12 x 30 amp  breakers

each one is wired to those 24/30 hp pdus I linked to.

so this means 1 big ass 400 amp breaker

feeds to 12 30 amp breakers

they feed to the pdus

the pdus have a master 24 amp breaker

and four c19 receptacles that each have a 15 amp breaker.

so a bad rig should trip its psu. say that fails it should trip the 15 amp breaker on the pdu say that fails the 24 amp breaker on the pdu should trip
say that fails the 30 amp breaker in the main panel should trip
say that fails the 400 amp breaker in the mail panel should trip

if all that fails the transformer will likely fail and big money is lost.

but we have five breakers in series protecting the main transformer.
8494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm confused on: October 12, 2021, 02:55:06 PM
Ignore all advice of it is too soon or too late.

DCA your rigs.

WTF is that?

Simple get a big board and add cards slowly.

Get a board that holds 8 cards.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/124646793866?   cost = 200

https://www.ebay.com/itm/323486325333? cost = 81

https://www.ebay.com/itm/284315969265? cost = 26

https://www.ebay.com/itm/194373927662? cost = 25

https://www.ebay.com/itm/293343236479? cost =  9

total = 331

a wooden board to mount the mobo some screws

maybe 340

above has you ready for 8 of these cards

https://www.newegg.com/nvidia-rtx-a4000-vcnrtxa4000-pb/p/N82E16814132091?  they are 1429 each

if you look high and low for them you can get them at 1200 each

they burn 130 watts so 8 x 130 = 1040 watts say 1100 watts for 8 at full speed.

the psu I linked can do 900 watts at 120 volts or 1200 watts at 240 volts

don't buy a lot of them buy 1 and add slowly as time goes on. that is DCA

Dollar cost averaging.

It insures you don't buy at the worst price possible which may be the current price I linked at 1429

you could try the w6600 card it costs less

https://www.newegg.com/amd-100-506208/p/N82E16814105106?   $699 mines less hash

Will you get rich with 1 card nope

Even if you build it to 8 cards

one rig would do 8 x 58 = 464 hash the rtx a4000
the other would do 8 x 34 = 272 hash the w6600

these are good rigs but as a newbie

you may have just 1 card to start

and if nvidia  rtx a4000 you are at  340 + 1429 = 1769

and if amd w6600 you are at 340 + 699 = 1039 you must do only amd

so the stratup is

1769 or 1039 1 card

you then add the same card in 2 weeks or 1 month til you have a full rig.

Note if you have 20 cent a kwatt power or higher it is a risky move

if you have 30 cent a kwatt power it is fool hardy

if you have 10 cent a kwatt power it is okay

if you have 5 cent power just do it.

Hi guys, hope you are all good in crypto mining so far.
With the mining farms close down in China, many investors move their investment from China to other countries, and the USA and Canada are the 2 hottest regions that investors choose.
I'm thinking even that China already declared its attitude about crypto mining, other big countries such as the USA and Cannada will allow it developed in their countries? Because it's true that crypto mining is consuming a lot of power, which is opposite to the global trend of 'environmental'. I'm not sure if we should be confident about its long-term development, even out of China.

How do you think?

40-50% of the natural gas in texas is simply burned off due to the cost to build piplines

so building farms and using that wasted gas is a natural.

that is an old idea I help a guy do this in pennsylvania back in 2016.

now ted cruz is talking about it for texas.

USA has a lot of gas that is burned off. So I think 🤔 USA is fairly safe.

What is the best wiring for a 16000 watt mining farm? Anyone have idea about this? What is the best solution/tools to build such electricity build? I'm trying to avoid burns and fire 🔥🔥 kind

Well 16 kwatts means you need 20kwatts since you must derate at 80 %

basically  you would want  30 amp 220/240 volt circuits.

four of them would be enough .

You want 4 pdu's such as these.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/153694273542?

this are pre derated to 24 amps which is 24/30 = 80% of the 30 am circuit.

four them would allow about 5280 watts x 4 =

21,120 watts.

Lastly, what is the situation with Bitmain's orders taken earlier this year for October delivery - did everyone get what they paid for yet?

the folks that I know did not receive anything yet.

We ordered non-sha 256

3x l7 placed the order months ago well before the shut downs.

so 3x 13k = 39k laid out  if it shows taxes are 13k
