8501  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why does the cosmos exist at all? on: January 23, 2019, 09:58:05 AM
The question of why do the cosmos exist could be expanded to "why does anything exist at all?" I think we take for granted that it just does and reality does not need an explanation in order to keep doing its thing.

For instance, life struggles to survive because death is the end of consciousness, or the nothing.

Really life struggles to survive only because that's a primary feature of evolution, and a product of that is the fear of death. If things weren't afraid to die, their genes would be removed from the gene pool pretty quick.

is bch dead? Huh

It had a schizophrenic episode and then committed suicide. The whole thing was tragic... tragically hilarious.

Just don't tell any of the pumpers or they'll be out of the job.
8503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I hate all forms of Altcoin and possibly hate cryptocurrency on: January 23, 2019, 08:51:50 AM
Sounds like OP probably should have saved his private keys somewhere. Its likely he can still get them out of the old wallets, should probably look into that before punching a hole in the wall.
8504  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT on: January 23, 2019, 07:36:03 AM
That is certainly valid advice, but again it is reduced to the same problem, it is completely subjective, and if it serves the interest of "forum cops" by increasing their profile and influence then there is an explicit conflict of interest inherent.

Sometimes its not subjective. Sometimes scams are committed and all the evidence required to prove it is present on this very forum. I don't know how red tagging "increases" somebody's "profile", in a positive manner anyway.

Do you guys think if a batch of accounts fill all of these criteria are they worth giving a red trust?

This is probably something to be discussed with moderators. And theymos. I know he doesn't like using the trust system to enforce forum rules

Noted, I won't bother tagging them, but will perhaps post more about the problem in Meta later.

This is an instance where its incredibly obvious what is going on -- the chances that a series of accounts all created within hours of each other all have praise for the same projects is statistically round-downable to zero.
8505  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion about acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Community values. DT on: January 22, 2019, 01:01:23 PM
What's the general consensus about thread bumping services?

If pertaining to a scam, it may fall into the "Shilling scams" category.

However, if there's a chance a project isn't a scam, it might fall into either of these categories:

- ANN bumping
- Colluding

There's some pretty obvious giveaway signs about such behavior:

- Accounts are created in clusters, frequently less than one hour apart from one another
- Accounts tend to comment in the same threads together
- More often than not these accounts have zero merits, are all created in the last year, and have less than 100 posts

Do you guys think if a batch of accounts fill all of these criteria are they worth giving a red trust?

I'd like your input on this because I think in general its less-than-decent behavior and obviously manipulation of the forum for the sake of profit, but I want to get some feedback before I go on a tagging spree.

Here's an example for your reference:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5095486

All of these accounts are bumping this thread, which is for a coin with no team and a plagiarized white paper:

8506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 22, 2019, 02:45:03 AM
My first comment was against nutildah's "to get more stakes".

- "... some extra profiles to get some activity to the new coin - not getting stakes."

The term sockpuppet I saw first time, when the NEM stake claming started. And because there is not proven that Utopianfuture has used sockpuppets to claim stakes, then I think that he had no 'sockpuppets, just extra 'profiles'.

Don't know why you're so adamant about rewriting history.

From gentlemand's link:

Quote
I had a few sockpuppet accounts but I have no intention of cashing out any of them.

No intention of "cashing out" what exactly? DOGE?

He was obviously hoarding NEMstakes. And I don't give a shit any more but it irks me when people try to claim that things that were, weren't, or vice-versa.

A sockpuppet is an extra profile.

What you're doing is saying a square isn't a rectangle.

What do you mean by "rewriting history" ?

You are trying to rewrite it to please your own assumptions. If something is not proven, then it is not so.

Do you know what "Innocent until proven guilty" means ?

1. UtopianFuture admitted to having sockpuppet accounts
2. He admitted using those to claim NEM stakes.

These are facts. Its proven. The accused admitted it. Case closed.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=649852.0

Strange that I have not seen that thread ...   (a lot of broken links there...)
maybe coz on that day I was quite busy in NEM thread Smiley
or maybe the author (CfA) was the reason to skip that Wink

The main post that I am referring is this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=426303.msg7279428#msg7279428
and
yes, there utopianfuture admits that he had made "few sockpuppet accounts"
but also to have "no intention of cashing out any of them"

As an active project manager he could have got enough stakes from the DevFund's. So there has been no reason to claim stakes in behind the curtains.

You are trying to use logic for your proof in the similar way as
 A
A -> B
------------
B

but unfortunately you fail.
Your attempt is like trying to prove that 1 + 1 = 2,
but you are saying "0.5 + 0.5 ... ermh let's round it ... 1 + 1 is ... yes, it equals 2. Proved. Case closed"
Smiley

Where is the utopianfuture's statement, where he writes (which would make possible to use the verb 'admit') that he was trying to claim stakes with some extra profiles ?

What's the matter with you? UF had extra accounts. He used those accounts to claim stakes. This goes against the entire premise of NEM being "fairly distributed," so when he got caught, he "retired" from NEM. Why else do you think he would step aside from his creation?? Please, stop insulting our intelligence.
8507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-SALE][ICO] Petro $PTR - Oil backed crypto currency launched by Venezuela on: January 21, 2019, 05:33:13 PM
PETRO iS A SCAM !!!

you see?
writing that Petro is a scam won't stop Petro.

It's dead set on stopping itself. What we can do is try to get money back for all the non-Venezuelans that got duped into Maduro's con game. Did cryptoviagra get new petro shares? Of course not. He lost $5,000 in the fraud you are promoting on a public forum. What do you have to say to him and anybody else who lost money in Maduro's ICO fraud?

Dude, do you not understand a single thing about cryptocurrency? That poor old lady holding a piece of paper in her hand -- she just gave up actual money for... a piece of paper that certifies she holds petros? What is she supposed to do with that? Who says the petro is worth anything? You can't exchange it anywhere. The only thing you can do is buy petros with bolivars or BTC. That's it. You can't cash it out -- its physically impossible.

From the comments:

"To make a Cryptomoneda is easy!... The difficult thing is to create the confidence that surrounds it..... the petro does not give confidence.... and is not a cryptomoneda, although it has blockchain this centralized to the Venezuelan government."

8508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To save bitcoin - stop buying bitcoin cash on: January 21, 2019, 10:31:10 AM
Who is buying bitcoin cash at all? I heard no word about it for a long time, even on trading discussion nobody mention it. Am I wrong?

That's a great question. I don't understand why people would buy it. What is their motivation? Nobody uses it for anything and its just as speculative as coins 100x smaller in size. Over the course of the last year its been dying a long, slow death, which was somewhat accelerated after the fork

But do you understand people who are buying Bitcoin?

As essentially everything you say about Bitcoin Cash can be said about Bitcoin itself. The majority of Bitcoin users are using it for speculation or hold it in hope of selling it later at a higher price (which is the same speculation). So how is Bitcoin particularly different from Bitcoin Cash in this department? Note that I don't mean to say that Bitcoin Cash is better or even on par with Bitcoin, it is just what you say is equally applicable to any other cryptocurrency out there

There is some truth to your statement but the fact is bitcoin has far more actual real world utility than any other crypto -- probably 100x more such utility than Bcash. So, compared to other currencies or traded items, yes, BTC is mostly speculative. Compared to all other cryptos its the least speculative. Bcash is a failed experiment and more of a get-rich-quick scheme, just like SV is currently proving itself to be.

8510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT on: January 21, 2019, 05:14:02 AM
Hi! HoweyCoins Unofficial Non-Official Support here.

This is what I searched for. Awesome project!

Thanks! We know!!

Two questions:
1) Where can I send my private key to buy coins?

Send your private key straight to any of the email addresses associated with the Official HoweyCoins project managers. They will be sure to use your bitcoin in an appropriate, trustworthy manner, giving you today's best exchange rate. Currently the rate is 100 BTC to 1 HOWEY.

2) Can I pay with Banano?

No, but you can pay with bananas. Just feed a bunch of bananas into any local CoinStar machine and they will be converted to HoweyCoins for you. You have to really smush em in there otherwise it won't work.

Please answer asap, Sir.

Hope this was fast enough for you. We aim to please.

I gave up few months expecting development and till this day nothing new to save the scam, Maduro stole lot of money I personally invested 12 ETH at the time for a value of $5000 it is painful, now everybody Ho invested are in a group in telegram trying to exchange the PETRO/NEM onto the new scam...I have a question where is the topic moderator Tasseenb?Huh

Coinve, this is proof that you were promoting a scam. This guy was never reimbursed in new petros despite sinking $5000 into a public crowdsale of the original petro.

I'll give you one last chance to defend yourself before tagging you as a scam promoter.
8512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈The Official 2019 Super Bowl Poll🏈🏈 on: January 21, 2019, 03:25:17 AM
Two fantastic games coming up next Sunday.

Without looking at the lines, I'm taking Rams over Saints and Patriots over Chiefs.

Boom, called it again. I'm 6 for 6 in my post season picks. Both Rams and Patriots were underdogs and they both won outright.

I would really like the Rams to beat the Pats, but as I said before, Pats just have more playoff and super bowl experience so I think ultimately they'll win... yet again....
8513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-SALE][ICO] Petro $PTR - Oil backed crypto currency launched by Venezuela on: January 21, 2019, 03:19:44 AM
first it was that Petro doesn't exist, that petro is a scam.
finally after the release, that nobody is buying Petros.
now is that only a few are buying Petros.

happyminer and axioman think
they're going to stop Petro writing lies in a forum.
they're so fucking desperate.
it's so sad.

Looks like they're just buying pieces of paper. No public keys on them, no private keys. Just an IOU. Maduro has gone from scamming foreigners only to scamming his own people. Coinve why do you continue to promote a scam long after its been revealed that its a scam?

You don't read for understanding, do you, nutildah? I told you: whoever is "behind" these assertions does not expect or want to be believed. He wants to assert.

I understand nobody's posted any messages signed with private keys to relevant bitcoin addresses.

How would I know you told me that already? I didn't even read it the first time.

What do you, DT and Iggy Pop all have in common?

This gives me an idea for a HoweyCoins like project where all the team members are movie stars.

Good project, when bounty airdrop sir?

We're a bit different from most ICOs, because we are cutting edge.

Instead of paying you tokens, you pay us XMR to learn when the bounty airdrop begins.

And by the way, you're correct, it is a Bounty Airdrop. We're literally airdropping bounties on people, and you must complete them regardless of how silly or demanding they are, or we blackmail you ala that one episode of Black Mirror where people get blackmailed by cell phones and drones, for even more XMR.
