8587  Economy / Digital goods / Re: ► [BUYING] ALL Team Fortress 2 Items! ◄✔► Make BTC from your TF2 items! [WTB] ◄ on: January 20, 2013, 11:27:32 AM
I'm not really looking to do this, more of a fishing line of curiosity. What kind of payments are people getting? What kind of items are valuable? You don't need a full price list, by maybe something that would give me an idea of what my backpack is worth.

I'm looking for mostly promotional items. These usually come from game preorders, or events etc.

Just send me a link to your Steam inventory, I won't do any harm c:

8589  Other / Off-topic / Re: why is mozilla prompt for master password full of typos? on: January 20, 2013, 11:22:29 AM
It looks like a drunken midnight episode, but how come it's been like this for years?
Add the years-long problem with multiple prompts at startup, still unresolved, and you start wondering if you can trust their implementation of cryptography at all.

8590  Other / Off-topic / Re: The movie "In Tme" is a visual metaphor for a bitcoin future on: January 20, 2013, 11:21:35 AM
Didn't like the movie.
Also, if you compare system with bitcoin, in the movie every infant is given one year of life, to spend after he/she turns.. umm 18 was it? or 21?

In bitcoin system nobody, noone, nothing gives infants 1btc for free. Some people might get 0.1/0.01btc for joining from other people. But still not everyone does.

Edit: Actually, in the movie system encourage.. no, wrong word, forces people to spend their "money". While bitcoin is safe to both store and spend.
(In the movie every few weeks things get increased in price, overall time - dramatically increased in price.)

25, not 21

Third Way is igored due to being plain retarded
b!z there are tons of game for linux, and you can even run Winblows games on Linux -> Wine

Almost all Linux games are terrible 'indie' attempts at games, and Wine is glitchy as fuck and takes too much setup sometimes.

8594  Other / Off-topic / Re: The movie "In Tme" is a visual metaphor for a bitcoin future on: January 20, 2013, 11:13:44 AM
If anyone wants to get an idea of the future where fiat currency is dead and buried, and bitcoin rules, then it is worth seeing the movie "In Time". It is very watchable and Timberlake's acting is pretty decent. However, for bitcoin fans, there is a visual metaphor showing a universal peer-to-peer currency system in action.

These substitutions can be considered:

a) The units of time which can be exchanged, lengthening lives, could be instead be bitcoin. 1 second = 3 satoshis. 1 year = 1 bitcoin.
(The vault at the end is Mt.Gox :-)

b) Implanted graphene sheets in each person's forearm are a digital wallet enabling proximity transfers (say by RFID bluetooth)

c) Discount the dysfunctional future society. It is worth being an optimist about the future - especially one which is founded on a robust monetary system instead of the fiat madhouse we have today.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1637688/

Enjoy.

The clocks are biologically engineered into everyone; I don't think they're implanted sheets.

8596  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is the Qt client killing the hard drive slowly? on: January 20, 2013, 04:17:40 AM
Disclaimer: don't use these for any serious stuff - I am not responsible for destroyed wallets or exploded CPU's.

Well.
Use it on testnet and help creating some feedback for sipa and the other devs Smiley
It won't destroy the wallet for sure but how about the exploded CPU? Can you guarantee with testnet against it? Wondering.

Hopefully nothing will blow up.
8597  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: why isn't p2pool more popular than it is? on: January 19, 2013, 03:47:44 AM
Question:     Why isn't p2pool more popular than it is?

Answer:    1) http://p2pool.info/luck/

               2) Rejects, stales, DOA rate.

               3) Loads of tech stuff I don't understand, but my guess is there's something amiss with the code.

Thanks for the 1st link, i really didn't know about that stuff till now.
8598  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Team Fortress 2 Keys on: January 18, 2013, 01:56:38 PM
Isn't TF2 free?

Keys open crates which carry statistically low chances of rewarding the crate opener with unique items that are highly prized within the TF2 community and can actually net some surprising coin from people who collect digital trinkets like that.

You may have been thinking key that authorizes use of a game and this is not that kind of key.

tl;dr:
buy key, open crate, get random item

8600  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Where to buy Proxies and Emails? on: January 18, 2013, 01:53:49 PM
May as well change the thread title to "Where can i buy botnet services to help me spam my goods"

If he was running a botnet, why would he need to buy proxies? lol.

I think you misread my post. The thread starter was requesting to purchase proxies and bulk email accounts.  This implies that the thread starter is attempting to spam his goods or services (most likely goods) in violation of the can spam act (why else would he need proxies or bulk email accounts unless it is to hide large amounts of unsolicited bulk email).   Hence my post "May as well change the thread title to "Where can i buy botnet services to help me spam my goods.""

The thread starter obviously would not need proxies or bulk email accounts if he hired a spammer to do it for him, but the result is the same regardless.  The thread starter appears to be planning to engage in unsolicited bulk email and wants to hide his activities from authorities.

It's a joke that mods allow threads like these to exist, they are highly transparent.

Plenty of email marketers do this.
