Fantastic Build, but how do you manage to boot all the cards without display? Dummy plug?

It's hard to see but I have a Displayport to VGA adaptor in GPU0. That is going to an IP KVM.

I see, so in theory with one dummy plug all the GPUs will work right?

I have never tried to run it without a monitor plugged into GPU0 so I really don't know. One tip....when using a Mini Displayport to VGA adaptor make sure it is an "Active" adaptor. Passive adaptors (like the one Apple sells) will only give you a resolution of 640x480. Knowing that would of saved me some frustration and a few trips to the store!

I propose that miners consider NOT mining on pools that spam this thread! Smiley

Looks fantastic man Cart, amazing, love the twin fan setup
I know huh? Did not realize the two 200mm fans would fit so well. Imagine if they were embedded into the frame design? That would have been cool.

Very nice build - really gives me something to think about....build my own alu, pvc or buy.

If I had the option to buy I would. Building the case was fun but a lot of work...especially for someone who has not picked up a power tool in 15+ years. At the time I started there was not a case option that fit into a 19" rack. I still don't think there is one available. I looked at farming out the work but was getting quotes in the $400 range.

I stared this thread because the guys in IRC asked that I document the build. I tried to post what I learned in the process. It is also nice to have something to reference if I build another one.

If you have the time, patience and tools to make one yourself go for it! Please post pictures Smiley

I wonder what another two at the other side and enclosing the case would do.

That was my original plan...would be interesting to see!

Datacenter has not complained about the open rig yet but if they do I may have to enclose it.

Is the difficulty stuck?
The pools have been showing 2.9 since yesterday with est next difficulty 1.x in 0 blocks. But it hasn't actually changed.

Diff changes every 720 blocks. Next diff change should be at block 168479. We are currently at 168362.

I've noticed an address that is receiving around half of the payout, yet is not reporting in any of the stats.  Who is WP4nhX7rmeeAWEz1YkwoGcsGbF86aWtkpj and why is it not showing in the stats?

http://wdc.cryptocoinexplorer.com/address/WP4nhX7rmeeAWEz1YkwoGcsGbF86aWtkpj

There are upwards of 20 other nodes on the WDC p2pool so it would be hard to say where he is mining at. He does not appear to have ever mined on my node.

Here is the current list of nodes he could have been mining on:

113.105.248.35
192.241.155.73
218.3.213.206
46.249.46.62
162.243.227.221
85.214.22.17
69.197.181.154
98.215.74.213
216.51.232.156
213.29.218.142
198.27.82.133
84.16.127.146
37.139.8.31

6 GPUs may be the max this case will support utilizing just the stock GPU fans. 7 may make them too cramped to allow adequate airflow.

So with 6 GPUs the temps were getting into the low 80's even with the GPU fans bumped up to 90%. It was time to figure out a way to cool the GPUs some more so I decided to try adding auxiliary fans.

It blew me away how much this helped!

(2) 200mm fans and GPU fans back down to 80%:

From left to right GPU#s: 2 0 3 4 5 1

These 200mm fans fit almost perfect. I could drill holes to secure them but will most likely just use zip ties. If I ever make another case I may try to fit them inside the space between the front/back (depending on how you look at it) of the case and the GPUs.

Yes, they are blowing air at the GPU exhaust vents since these particular models mostly expel air the other way. They are plugged into motherboard fan connectors and are not running at full speed. Very happy with the results and surprised that it helped as much as it did.

Hi zxm7001,

Sometimes it can take over two hours to find a CRC block based on the difficulty and hash rate. I show that your address did get a couple payouts:

For those having problems I was curious as to what version of the p2pool source you were trying to use? Have seen that the latest version of p2pool (13.4) requires later versions of BTC and LTC wallets. Perhaps the ALT coin wallets you are using may not be compatible with 13.4. Try p2pool version 13.3 or earlier.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - Pool Discussion. on: December 28, 2013, 07:08:56 AM
I do really like the idea of p2pool pools, the only issue I have with them is that in my experience smaller miners do not get paid anything. I do realize this may have just been from when the p2pool was overloaded and needed more nodes, but it may be worth running some tests to make sure everyone including small miners gets their fair coin now. (I did get plenty of coin from you pool as a small miner before it got overloaded.) Really not trying to bash on your pool here I mean no offense, you've always done a solid and respectable job, and I think p2pools are a necessity as the mpos architecture sometimes blows up. Just might be something to dig into and research a bit to further stabilize the CSC mining community. Would make me more comfortable with MooPool knowing that if all of MPOS goes down the p2pool nodes can handle the load. Keep up the good work, glad you're a part of the CSC mining community. Smiley

Thanks murderouskirk! It is a thankless job but just a little appreciation goes a long way Smiley

The Casinocoin p2pool specs were recently changed (thanks gururise and Rav3nPL) and I think the changes will help smaller miners. There are a few drawbacks to p2pool and being a smaller miner on a node with larger miners is one of them.

Before the Casinocoin p2pool was giving out shares every 15 seconds. This has been reduced to 5 seconds. This 3 fold increase in shares I believe may help more miners get shares more often. In other words, there is now 3x the chance that you get a share for payment. Once you do get a share we have the p2pool set to keep paying you for the next 60 blocks even if you don't get any more shares during that time.

Also, the amount of time for the p2pool to determine the share difficulty has been reduced from 200 to 60 shares. In theory this is suppose to allow the pool to adjust the share difficulty faster. I am not familiar with this setting so I am relying on other experience with this.

Please provide feedback as we are willing to keep changing the specs to best support the coin. I personally would like to see the DOA rate decreased.

P2Pools are difficult for miners. The mining console does not look as nice with the constant request for restarts. I understand that a lot of miners like non-p2pool's because of the ease of mining and web interface...have been thinking about opening up some other types of pools but it is nice not having any responsibility for people's coins or concerns about accounts being hacked. Also, although I hear it is better these days...push pools are known to be unreliable to operate.

LOL, those were merged by request (BBQCoin, franko, Dodgecoin). They were not written by me so use at your own risk Wink
I suppose I should only have the coins I wrote/confirmed be included?

As a bonus for miners I added a nice graphic to the graph...looks beautiful if you ask me:

To generate unique values for IDENTIFIER and PREFIX create a random string of 19 numbers and convert to Hex.

I use the windows Programmer Calculator to do the conversion (View menu).

Example:
5486237465184378845 = 4C2307E841C11FDD

You guys need to be ALOT clearer about the pool's setup and we deserve just compensatoin.

Well, don't know how much clearer I can be as the code is open source for anyone to examine or use. Please feel free to use it as you like but I make to guarantees as to it's performance or usability. If you feel it does not meet your needs there are other options available.

I personally feel P2Pool is a benefit to any blockchain so I spent my time and effort developing it for the small number of coins I support. I try my best to do so as time allows. I appreciate the efforts others have started to provide in helping to optimize P2Pool as best they can.

Hippie Tech:

Try searching the forum or his posts. Link here if you find anything.

If you are really curious the source code is freely available for you to check out. You don't need to trust me or any other p2pool node operators.

Just as a reminder P2Pool is decentralized so if one node gets taken down the rest are not affected. There are no accounts or coins stored by the pool. No confirmations to wait for....your coins are sent to you as soon as a block is found. Every block found is simultaneously announced across all the wallets in the P2Pool so there are less orphans encountered.

Again, the source code is freely available for you to start your own P2Pool node that you can keep private or open up for others to use. If you look at the code you will see that very little was changed from the original author (https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool) to support other coins.

You may get some of your questions answered if you ask politely in the main P2Pool thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.0

3. Create a CSC mining pool within the casino and charge a lowo fee to provide some extra fund to the casino.
I would love to have a mining pool that would donate to the casino, but I just havent had any luck when trying to install the depends etc onto my VPS. Bluehost linux centos.
SSH problems and all that fun stuff.

P2Pool has the option to have nodes run with a donation setting. I would have to modify the code to have the donation sent to the casino address but I think this is doable. This way people can mine and set a donation amount sent to the casino....or instead of modifying the code to have the donation flag work you could just open up a node with the payment address set for the casino and direct miners to use that....that would be easier actually...forget that I said I could modify the code to have the donation flag work Smiley
