861  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there any chance of having one global currency? on: October 28, 2018, 07:32:37 PM
Could you see a future wherein the entire world shares one global currency, be it fiat or crypto? If I think it in a scifi kind of way, it would most probably be some digital currency that could all just use. It doesn't even have to be in this century. Maybe the next?
The kind of world using one currency is not feasible now or in the future. The whole world is not at the same level of development, either in terms of infrastructure, economy or political stability. This kind of wide imbalance between countries will be an hindrance in achieving a one world currency system. But like you said maybe the next century, who knows?

863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it okay to trade on telegram? on: October 27, 2018, 02:33:56 PM
The risk of been scammed on Telegram is high and I would not advise you trade on it. There are reputable and trusted exchange out there that you can trade on either fiat to crypto or crypto to crypto.
864  Economy / Economics / Re: WILL BITCOIN PROVIDE SOLUTIONS THIS Time? on: October 27, 2018, 01:48:21 PM
A shake up in stock market may favour crypto market, but remember people's hard earned money are in stocks and no one would pray for a fall in whatever he/she invest in just to favour another market. Both market can co-exist and compliment each other. Please stop insinuating a collapse of stock just to favour crypto market. This space is wide enough to accommodate everyone.
865  Economy / Economics / Re: Transferring of wealth from the impatient to the patient! on: October 27, 2018, 12:25:11 PM
I will like to say the plain truth about what I have think laid ahead of us as an investors, traders and speculators on cryptocurrencies market. Many of us that know about cryptocurrencies and bitcoin since 2010 and 2011 and did not see any reason to buy and hold till 2017 before selling will testify that impatient is the reason why they are not millionaire in the local currency.
in cryptocurrencies market we are witnessing transfer of wealth and this transfer is been done through creating a system that make some group of people selling their holding because of the fear of what the future hold. The wise one are buying and hold for 2 to 3 years before thinking to sell.
if you want to be a future millionaire  and billionaire? then think on how important it is for you to keep holding and patient with the market and in 2 to 3 years to come if you will not be in money, this money always come from the impatient one.
Goodluck to you friend.
I quite agree with you that being impatient can make one to lose or not profit as much. But can we really blame the impatient who is satisfied with his/her profit or the patient one who is holding big bag of shitcoins? Being patient and discipline is crucial in this kind of market, however one must wait with common sense.
866  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Questions for Bounty Hunters on: October 27, 2018, 09:44:39 AM
My experience with bounties so far has been a mixed one: the good and the bad; the beautiful and the ugly. The good is when you get rewarded on time for the tasks done and not when the project eventually turned into a scam. The bad is when there is a long delay before been rewarded (ICO price dumped already) or not rewarded at all (probably due to scam project, project not reaching softcap). So, if you are going into bounty now that things are complicated, then expect the good and the ugliest.
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO prediction 2019 on: October 27, 2018, 09:02:18 AM
For sure, ICO will still be alive, but just like what's experienced in 2018, many will struggle to raise funds unless approached by the big investors, corporations or institutions. In addition, investors are being extra cautious and any ICO with no real usage will not survive 2019.
868  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you use cryptocurrencies in your daily life? Are they useful? on: October 25, 2018, 07:57:29 PM
This and other questions are part of a questionnaire that we, a research team from the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) are doing. It seeks to understand the drivers' usage of cryptocurrencies by the end user such as you and me. Considering 10 different dimensions, from perceived usefulness to privacy to profitability, among others.
It takes on average 3 minutes to answer.

Here is the link for the questionnaire:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/cryptocurrencies_usage

More details if you want to know more about it:
For this, it was created a questionnaire with Likert type scale questions. These dimensions will then be used to construct a model, based on the traditional Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed in 1989, and some others developed afterwards, but with more adapted to the cryptocurrencies ecosystem. Then it will be done some data analysis and compilation of results.
This questionnaire has some focus on the financial area, but this does not mean it is the most important. We know there are some other dimensions not being addresses in this questionnaire, such as decentralisation/government influence, that may be addressed in the future.
After analysing and publishing the thesis and papers I will post on this forum with infographics and the most important conclusions of the study.

There are no open questions, but you can post here or message me about this.

Thank you for your time! Best Regards,
The University Institute of Lisbon research team

Such an interesting questionnaire and yes, I would love to see the important conclusions. In general, I think cryptocurrency doesn't have wide usage other than for trading, investment purpose, store of value and means of payment (online). For adequate and wide usage, cryptocurrency needs wide adoption, more understanding of its features and of course price stability.

871  Economy / Economics / Re: How did Crypto help you out? on: October 21, 2018, 07:20:45 PM
Crypto has been of great help financially and not only that, it has helped me to have a redefined career path. Blockchain can be of great use in Agriculture sector and as an active person in the sector, I have decided to contribute to and boost the impact of ICT in Agriculture especially in my Africa through blockchain technology. I'm back in class to equip myself with necessary knowledge.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are investors got tired of ICOs? on: October 21, 2018, 06:27:13 PM
Investors are not tired, most are just being extra careful because of the unfavorable market conditions coupled with reports of ICO scams, under performing ICOs and useless projects whose ideas are not realistic.
873  Economy / Economics / Re: What is going to happen when we reach the 21 Million BTC supply limit? on: October 20, 2018, 09:24:45 PM
Hello,
I have several questions?
The maximum supply amount of bitcoins in circulation is 21 Millions.
The amount that are mined so far is more than 16 Millions (more than 79%)
What is going to happen when the 21 Million limit is close to be reached?
Since it going to be more and more difficult to mine bitcoins, does that mean that the price of a transaction is going to be extremely expensive?

Thanks for taking the time to answer :-D

When the total supply is fully mined, I think buying or trading will be the only way to acquire bitcoin which will definitely influence its value and probably create more stability.

However, while giving your question a thought, another question popped up from my mind; will all these mining farms seize to exist when the total supply is fully mined since nothing will be left to mine?
874  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we need blockchain technology? on: October 19, 2018, 09:24:11 PM
Blockchain technology in all its glory is still an infant and like any other giant technology we have today, it will undergo its growth and development stage which will take a while before its full potentials manifest. The idea and concept (decentralization and  anonymity) governing this tech makes it possible to fit into any aspect of human except spirituality. I believe developers are trying all their best to find the true link between this tech and real life usage. So don't worry, everything will connect. Blockchain is never useless.
875  Economy / Economics / Re: Is this the correct time to purchase bitcoins and al-crypto? on: October 19, 2018, 08:26:18 PM
Buy now or never. Once the market becomes bullish (no one can actually say when), it will take good years before one can see favorable entry point like the one available now. If you have the capital, make the decision and either smile later or regret later.
876  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always use Escrow on: October 19, 2018, 07:55:27 PM

Always use an escrow(Trusted)when trading directly, any user who refuses to trade directly with you, using an Escrow is most probably a scam and should not be trusted(Trade with caution)
Thank you for laying more emphasis on the word "Trusted", not just any escrow but trusted one. I will like to add the word reputable to the phrase — trusted escrow with high reputation, because there have been many known cases in which Mr A will collaborate with the escrow to scam Mr B. Let's just trade with caution.
877  Economy / Economics / Re: Apart from trading where else to use crypto? on: October 18, 2018, 07:55:11 PM
Apart from trading, crypto have other uses and untapped potentials, bitcoin for example is being used for payment and instant transactions. Altcoins and ICOs also have use case well defined in their WP of which most are still abstract. Common use case is these cryptos only give access to their project ecosystem or products.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your favorite coin to invest (new vote) on: October 18, 2018, 07:16:46 PM
The above coins have somehow been tested and have shown good market behavior over the time. However, during this bearish market I do choose BTC and ETH to invest in, followed by NEO.
879  Economy / Economics / Re: Who controls the market? on: October 18, 2018, 03:29:34 PM
I think the market control itself. Every entity that makes up the market has a control on it. No matter how low/high the activity of an entity, the relative impact will be felt. Take away buyers or sellers or the investors and see the effect on the market. I believe everything involved, living or non living controls the market. Also, there is an effect of manipulation, however, this cannot be sustained for long.
880  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does any of you spend bitcoin in physical shops? on: October 17, 2018, 09:25:11 PM
In as much as I wish I could spend few satoshi in a physical shop — buy few packs of noodles and boast to family and friends how real bitcoin is. However there is no place to do that and it will take a while for such to manifest in a society where everything social infrastructure, development, economy, and education is backward. In short, no.
