You are doing it wrong!
Always play on *2.1 or higher payout and always double the bet if you lose!

PLEASE IGNORE!!!

Am I seeing a pattern here?

I gamble... with hopes of winning (of course), but with realistic expectations that I might not win. But recently there's been a number of posts relating to a particular type of gambling - dice. I've tried it a few times, totally not my thing. I guess I'm wondering if dice is a different kind of beast?

OP, it's happened to most if not all of us who engage in risky behavior such as this. This is definitely a life lesson for you... an experience/wise words you'd be able to offer to your children one day and perhaps deter them from a similar fate.

And you're in school anyways... how is sleep even an option for you! Tongue  jk
863  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITOOMBA CASINO BLACK FRIDAY SPECIAL 200% + BACCARAT LAUNCH! on: January 29, 2014, 03:28:29 AM
Thanks!

... unlike most casino threads, this one has very comments. I suppose this can be vied as a good thing Smiley but is this indicative of the number of players to your site?

So how much is an actual 1BTC deposit worth? 100 or 1000 credits?

1BTC equals 100 Bitoombas (Bitoomba credits). Soon we will switch to mBTC (to be announced) and then it will be worth 1000 Bitoombas.

I am not sure if the number of comments a thread on Bitcointalk gets is an indicator of the quantity of players a site has...

Nope it doesn't... But I'm sure you know how it goes around here. For the most part, it's usually the complainers who post, so this could be favorable, you know.

One concern I have though... I don't see the provable fair piece...
864  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS or WTT 270x and PSU on: January 29, 2014, 03:18:00 AM
Prices?

I realized shortly after posting they weren't listed... but they're there now Smiley  These are the prices I paid, and I'm willing to show proof I'm not trying to make a dollar.

239USD for the cards
40USD for PSUs
25USD for memory
865  Other / Off-topic / Re: First bitcoin related suicide? on: January 29, 2014, 03:16:11 AM
man just call 911 and get the police to take you to a psych ward for suicide watch then claim disability and get SSI because you hear voices in your head telling you to kill yourself.

Unfortunately the emergency services tend to be quite useless with people merely feeling suicidal - they MIGHT respond well to an actual attempt, but for mere suicidal ideation (the medical term for "thinking about suicide and thinking it's a good idea") you're better off going straight to a psych.

Not to mention most people who are suicidal do not have "voices in their head" but rather a severe lack of serotonin triggered through a random biochemical glitch or from a life event - or for the truly unlucky both (for example, someone with bipolar who has a bad life event).

The nasty part about depression is it hijacks self-esteem and makes the victim believe that nobody will care (it's a common pattern to see people claim they're doing their friends and family a favour by removing themselves from the situation), when in reality most people have SOMEONE who does care and would be hurt - which is why the best approach is always to encourage people who talk about suicide to talk to their friends and family in person.

Of course some threats are just attention seeking or even plain old trolling, but from personal experience it's best to assume the threat is real and encourage people to seek help - i'd rather be fooled by a few trolls than see someone die who could have been saved, especially as i've had friends who took their own life after people thought they were joking.

You sir are 100% INCORRECT!!! Law Enforcement WILL respond to situation like this. It's amazing that this thread went 5 pages and no one bothered to mention that maybe, just maybe, they should ask the Mod to notify ANY law enforcement agency (even anonymously by friggin email). All the Mod would have to do is obtain his IP, Google its location and anonymously send an email containing his post and his IP to the local police. If the IP is valid and not a proxy, Law Enforcement  would be able to obtain the posters address expeditiously without a warrant because it would be considered "Exigent Circumstances" and negate the need for warrant - at least if it's in the US. I can't speak for any other country.

I did my part and notified the Mod --"report to Mod". It's now in the hands of BitcoinTalk since I can't obtain the poster's IP myself.

Maybe I'm over reacting, but it's outrageous that someone would be posting information about things that they truly aren't knowledgeable about rather than attempting to actually do something about the situation to help the individual. Maybe he's just a scammer trying to get free coins with a sob story, which is more likely the case, but what if he's not.

You're right, perhaps. I was one of the first to respond and advised OP to seek help away from this forum. It didn't dawn on me that this could've been the warning before the bang. I usually don't miss much, but it was 4am. Even so, there's no way we could predict the outcome. What if we got the mods involved (they probably wouldn't anyways) in this situation, send LE to his home (or place of work), when all he was feeling was a little down and wanted to spark conversation? LE's doing an incident report (he'd never know), but this reference would follow him forever.

Most of the responders tried to offer reassuring words of encouragement; and for most, that's as far as it goes... it is the internet after all. What I found sickening were all the people who automatically thought this was a scam or tried to bully him into moving forward with it. Yet another reason why we heart the bitcoin community.

How can I have my password reset? I keep forgetting them plus I play from my iDevice at times so I'm sure I have about 25 accounts. But I want my first account back, the one that's attached to my name. Is this possible? Thanks!

I think someone pulled up his actual info, didn't they? This should be an easy (easier) case for the victim(s) if that's the case. Who's handling this? Guess I can do some background work and find his victims... I'm willing to put in some spare time; just to set an example out of this fucker.

Let me know if you, victim, are interested. Sometimes navigating through the legal system can be daunting but it's a good thing I know all types of professionals in the the legal arena. Just let me know, perhaps I might be able to provide some guidance. I don't want anything but to bring this fucker to justice! He almost got me too, shit.

RULES of Engagement:

*** ESCROW by a trusted member is REQUIRED!!!
*** All deals will be handled in public view. Feel free to PM offers, but if we come to a consensus, all business will be posted in this thread.
*** No PP! I have 12 year old PP account and the last thing I want to do is blemish it with someone doing a chargeback.

Background:
After a cancelled order of 10 7950s, I settled to build my rig with 15 270x's instead. It'll cost me an extra mobo/cpu/psu/risers, but considering the inflated prices of GPUs now and the cost savings I'll realize with the 270x's, I don't think it turned out too bad? The 15 will actually yield a little more hash power and it expends almost half the power.

Anyways... I'm able to order 4 more of these GPUs which I'm doing just to raise a lil more so I can get a different type PSU for my rigs. I bought two DPS-2000BB 2000w server PSUs from eBay, and quite frankly, I don't have the confidence to configure it for my use - hence, they're for sale. I should get my shipment of 15 cards by this Friday (finally!!!), and I'll promptly ship, your method, your cost.

I have a couple of extras someone may be interested in; here's everything:

* FOUR (4) VisionTek Radeon R9 270X GPUs (not the best, but not the worse either) brand new - $239
* TWO (2) Delta DPS-2000BB 2000w server PSUs (no power cord) used - $40 OBO
* TWO (2) Corsair 2GB DDR3 sticks (1333MHZ version) brand new - $25

I'm not trying to rob you guys or make a profit, I just want to get my 3 1250w PSUs and possibly some fancy powered risers Smiley I'm selling these items for what it cost me, plus shipping.

I'll accept BTC/LTC/Trade/Newegg gift card
I'm willing to trade for 1250w PSUs (used okay with all cables) and powered risers; I need 12 1 x16x (these must be new, sorry).

***********
Can someone also explain how escrow would work in this situation; buy sends payment to escrow, I ship, they receive, payment released? Sounds simple enough, but how do I protect myself if the buyer says the item was damaged or they never received? I read a case or two some time ago but can't remember how it was mitigated. Literally, should I video record myself boxing the items?

EDIT - Just realized I didn't list the freakin prices! Added.

has the mac client been implemented yet? I wouldn't mind playing today but last thing I want to do is whip out my POS pc.

We are working hard on the Mac client / web version and mobile interface and we are expecting this to be complete by mid to late February.  We will certainly keep you posted Lucky Cris.

Good deal! First time playing in a while and accidentally clicked All-in instead of fold, on my first hand! Oh well, my fault!

When will the next freeroll be?

But definitely a great way to get the next generation involved no doubt Smiley
878  Economy / Services / Re: I will answer chemistry questions for BTC tips on: January 28, 2014, 09:56:56 PM
What kind of job can you get with a masters?  im sure lots of money.

The best chemistry research jobs and professorships require a PhD and suggest some post-doctoral work. Where I work, the techs (people actually doing the lab work) have bachelors or masters degrees. Different companies will have different requirements, but generally if you want to lead the research you need a PhD, if you are content to just do what other people tell you to then a BS or MS degree would be sufficient. To get a better idea of what jobs are out there, do some searching on job posting websites (start with indeed.com, it compiles all the job listings from many other sites). My estimate is that with a BS in chemistry you could start at a job as a lab tech or QC tech making 25-40k/year, with a masters in chemistry you might be able to land a position starting at 35-50k/year, but with a PhD you get many more options, depending on your particular field of study, which could start anywhere from 50-90k/year (and these sorts of positions have much more upward mobility to move into management type positions and make even more money).

I hope that helped.

Surely the pay would be higher than that? Maybe I'm spoiled IDK. I was at 50k before I got my BA and over 80K with my masters. I have a couple years of doctoral studies under my belt, but my trust me... I've reached my salary peak a long time ago so pursuing my PhD is solely for personal achievement... makes you seem unattainable for an employer (guess I could've went for my DBA but what fun is obtaining a doctorates without the research!). At any rate, I'm jealous - I love the hard sciences more than anything - business degrees sucks, but pays well I suppose.

Good luck with your endeavors Smiley
