if possible, when your presentation is ready, post it here, and tell us how it was received by his teacher and classmates.

Well, I can do that.. I could also do it when I get home, and then you guys can tell me if something should be added, or if I am wrong about something.

It just goes fast over how it works and what it is.
But I hope to get a lot of questions so there is conversation and people show intrest in the subject.

But its just an english class.. So some might not even understand it.. lol

Being a senior, you should know who Andreas Antonopoulos is. Listen to a few of his talks on YouTube and you are good to go. I believe you don't have to make to very technical, just fun and informative. Focus on it's advantages, what it can do in the future and problems it is facing at the moment.

I accually dont know who that is, but will check up on him when I get home today.
Thanks for the tip!
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Presentation. on: March 04, 2015, 11:49:19 AM
i think you need more pages, at least 3 pages
first page, explain about bitcoin background
second page, explain about what is bitcoin?
and the third page, explain about benefit using bitcoin

Its only required for 500 words to be written on the paper, and its for the teacher to read.
Its more about what I say to those who listen at the presentation that I am thinking of.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin , what now ? on: March 04, 2015, 10:25:43 AM
Do something irresponsible, like gamble it on one of the bitcoin casinos Cheesy

If you read above then you can see that he is muslim and does not gamble or has any intention of using his money inresposible.

I know plenty of 'muslims' that drink alcohol and gamble. Everyone has their different ideologies of how to interpret their religion.
I say get your GAMBLE on! Cheesy

Well, he is more serious about his beliefs and you have to respect that.
I dont believe in religion, but I still respect the people who do..
Aslong as it does not annoy me or hurt me or people I know.

@Hamuki It's deeper & more complicated then you think , don't have the needed english knowledge to really explain it how it should be , you should search for it to know more Grin
Yeah , just found one Islamic Bank , I may go for it .

OKay...

Well..

I am going to start later today and look for a new investment.
Want me to PM you if I find something?

I do under 0.10 BTC investments too see if the coin is worth investing it.. And if it is..  I get even more into it Tongue

I remember I was very excited when I had 1 whole BTC, the anticipation up to it was gratifying. Congrats to you!  Cool

1 bitcoin is not a lot these days. If you spend it on something nice, you'll end up with fraction of a bitcoin again. If you want to make this 1 bitcoin special, make a paper wallet and write "My First Bitcoin" on it. Make yourself not want to spend it.

I was planning to do that , but believe or not .
I'am afraid that I will screw up and eventually not find my BItcoins on the paper wallet (yes paranoind little bit ... or a lot Shocked )

~ Madness

Haha.. Dont you have a safe or something like that you can keep it in?
Or a bank box to have it in with other valuable items.

I'am using an Offline wallet at the moment , I guess it's the safest thing I can think of .
you mean Bank deposit boxes or whatever their names is ? not sure if we have that here , I made 18 years old last January (18 is needed to make a bank account) .. and too lazy to go and open bank account Shocked also I have to look for a Bank that dosen't give me interest when I deposit because interest is against my religion too Grin

You can make yourself a vanity address and print the keys with their QR codes ( OFFLINE of course) and also make a copy to a small and cheap disk on key only for bitcoin purposes.

Going to try that , thanks for the useful link dude

~ Madness

Seriously?
What are you allowed to do?

Then there must be banks that follow islam like you do and will be able to help you.

Why is a bank that gives intrest not allowed?
Its not gambling, stealing or anything else illegal.
868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Presentation. on: March 04, 2015, 09:57:25 AM
So...

UPDATE! I got an A+ for the presentation. Now I am waiting on the paper to be read and get feeback on that.

At my college I am forced to do english presentation.

And I figures, why not do it about BTC?

So I have made a powerpoint and 2 pages of info about BTC.

Is there anything that you think should be set focus on?
And no, will not be talking about silk road or anything bad.

No need for that.

What O_O

No girlfriend is allowed?

I am sorry for you when it comes to that.. I hope you are happy without one.

As of the BTC.. I would save it since the price is slowly rising and NEVER start gambling.
I havent done it with BTC, so I have never lost..

Or you could get into the altcoin world and see if you can find a new coin and throw some money into it.

Sometimes a new coin is worth less than 100 sat in the first few hours on the exchanges, and then they jump to over 1k sats.

Think of investing 1 BTC into that! xD

I'am a Muslim , even if there is some people who have  I know that it's not allowed Wink And yeah you couldn't know how happy I'am , I don't need a girl to feel good or to feel that I worth something or whatever Shocked  (Marriage is something , girl friends is another thing) .

So we don't get off topic ... Speaking about Gambling , I do not gamble either . mm Idk about Altcoins , some pre-mined altcoins are getting created daily and most of them seems like a scam , and it's just a way so people earn some fast buck . was thinking on joining the Darkcoin world but idk ... how good it is . and the differennce between "Darkcoin" and "Darkwallet" for Bitcoin .

~ Madness

Darkcoin does seem strong, but its not there you should go for profits.
I might be getting back into the game of altcoins since I used to make some good money on it.
Maybe you want to join me and go in small in the start to test the waters? Smiley

I don't know mate , not that interessted in Alternative coins to be honest Shocked  I may contact you if I change my mind
Thank for the offer tho .

~ Madness

No need to be interested in the long term. Its just as investments to make your pockets heavy with coins.
Aslong as it does not involve scamming ofc Smiley

I would strong advise against mining hardware and specially cloud mining. so unless the bitcoin price is going to rise really dramatically in the next 6-12 months I would use bitcoin for mining.

But, If you see the bitcoin is on the rise, slowly and steady, you may consider putting, over time, small amounts at cloud mining (not all in one investment..), just make sure it is a long time contract (lifetime maybe) so if the btc is going up you should be getting profits and your contract doesn't end.

Okey , got a question which I was always thinking about . don't call me Dumb please

If those Cloud Mining website accepts Bitcoin as payment only , it wouldn't make a lot of sense , would it ?
Let's say I paid 0.1 (30$ when I paid) BTC and I earned 0.08 BTC (50$ at the time I mine) . It still dosent make any sense if I mined , because I will earn the same amount , yes the USD price rised but it's the same/less amount of Bitcoin , so couldn't I simply hold the Bitcoins instead of Cloud mining ? Shocked

~ Madness

No, there are lifetime contracts, like with Spondoolies that say :
" * For lifetime contracts as long as the contract is profitable, a small maintenance fee of 0.0019$/GH/d is deducted. Please see the contract for details. "

Meaning that If you but a 100$ contract, as long as the mining is profitable your contract will be active and you keep getting paid.  (It sounds good, but the mining industry is very competitive and should be invested carefully)

I see, thanks for the clarification , sounds really interessting .
Never heard of spondoolies tho , any companies you recommend me to use ? I know  that CEX.IO shutted up lately because of the drop price on Bitcoin so it's not so profitable for them anymore .

~ Madness

All I know is that Spondoolies and Antminer are best companies to buy mining hardware from ( I say the best, but you still need to find out what is profitable)

Do you want to buy a miner?

I have an S1 Antminer stuck in the US atm.
10$+ shipping and its yours! Smiley

Dont do mining and especially not on Genesis Mining.
It sucks.. Back when I bought hashrate in 2014, the payout suddenly decreased a lot even though the difficulty was the same and the price was stable.

So I would not do that.

He has made around 5 apps I know of.

Aren't those old news a little bit ?
Because the same day BTER got hacked of the ~7000 BTC , I heard that the staff simply walked away . they are "probably" (so we don't accuse people) involved on the hacking , wouldn't call it hacking since it's an inside job tho .

~ Madness

Is it just me.. Or is coinbase the only place where things are going good?
I have used bter before and I think I might still have currency on there..

I guess its too late..
877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The Media's Effect To Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2015, 07:58:09 AM
The problem is that most media only look at slikroad and scams when it comes to BTC.
They dont see it as a good thing, but as a bad thing only because of that.

And its so annoying.

Basically that has a dual effect as such. When the price jumped, they covered it a lot, and due to that we had many people who got introduced to btc, but the bad news steer people away . So its kind of a mixed effect

Yea... But still when you only see the header on a news paper "NEW BIG SCAM IN THE BITCOIN WORLD"
Then I dont think that people will come running and start investing.

Let them get into the game.. Let them buy hard... And make them dump..

So while they have created to much hype about BTC, then we will have enough people buying their dump that it wont affect the price much.
880  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS][US] Antminer S1 on: March 04, 2015, 07:39:33 AM
Hello BTC talk.

I bought an antminer from ebay and then I saw that it only shipped to the US..

So I want to resell it here for 15$ + shipping to anyone that wants it.
Escrow is required unless you want to go first.

Location: Fontana, California, United States.
