You guys have pretty creative imaginations to think we may be the ones behind the exchange  I've been pondering setting up an exchange - but the volume of unforeseens, 88 pages on our official earthcoin thread, speedbumps, 1000's of variables and logistical nightmare of trying to co-ordinate everything, there is no way in hell I'm ever attempting to actually look after an exchange or become a BigVern or the owner of this exchange. I don't know how to feel about it - look at our thread and you'll see that I'm not actually too happy that we're listed at first, was hoping not to be listed anywhere as we keep developing. This exchange is new and already under fire and now people can price fix and swing our coin easily - we don't have much benefit at this point if this does turn out to be a scam. OR we stand to do realllllly well, so do EAC supporters if this turns out to be a person/group that finally decided to challenge the industry which I see as a big gap that needs to be filled asap. I also wish them well, but think they could/should have gone about this whole thing in a much different/better way. If the owner is reading this - you really should open a thread here and allow the community to work with you on this vs hiding and taking this much scrutiny. carry on. |

I should be happy, I know. I am, but it's probably going to be easy to manipulate and price fix for people now though cause it's so new - which could work in the coins favor short term or have volatile swings now but it also put pressure on us to get it listed elsewhere. I voted on cryptsy, but I'm going to hold a lot of this anyway as I think this could have a really great long term future. I really like this coin - very professional looking, polished branding, and more importantly it's fast and the blockchain seems stable despite that - well done EAC devs.
IMHO EAC is the best-looking coin on the market. Well done, guys!
Wow guys thanks for the comments We're trying hard and the team is finally able to breathe a bit since the blitz from launching (what a process, glad my college days were filled with all nighters and I can still do them!). We actually do NOT want to be on cryptsy, yet, that place kills coins and first user experiences faster than any exchange. I have a deep rooted love/hate relationship with cryptsy and have been there for a while now, have suffered from all their woe's and I trade big (still think btc-e is the best/safest/fastest/easiest for first users to get a good experience at) but that won't happen for a while if ever (we'll be damn sure trying!). I would hate to launch prematurely at C - it will just get a big spike and die out and have us competing with the rest of the dumped and struggling coins. < This may happen no matter what phase they pick us up at - but it would be much better if we had more adopters, coins out there, device apps ready, some publicity campaigns ready, videos up for noobs, etc. as this will ensure an easier journey post that first spike they all do. Please holdup on requesting cryptsy to list them any more. Reminder for bounty's. ** Shops to take us on for 'accepted here' buttons and banners - point them at GetEarthCoin.com - bounty will depend on size of your site/traffic/brand. ** Noob camtasia videos walking through downloading/installing/using EAC - need to have good presentation/voiceover/broadcast skills, need to speak perfect English, this will be used on the website and throughout our campaigns. ** I'm getting a voiceover script prepared in audio that will go over main points and will put it out there for any videographers that want to animate/string videos and pics together to go along with it. ** Due to the many concerns of online wallets we will not be approaching that task at this time. I'll just get going on the other translation since I don't think my question needs to be addressed right now, perhaps it's too early Missed it sorry - no it's ok we don't need the main site translated - many auto-translate services exist and most of our text is not graphics but actual text so we should be ok for now. May change downstream, may also integrate a translation tool (many toolbars/non-english people have translators - speaking from a bit of experience as I have online products that have sold to over 400 countries and based on feedback ((and my sites have a lot of graphics as text)) we've never needed the actual main sites translated). I'm sure it would help as the translation tools tend to do a sloppy job but the markets are used to said sloppiness. The manual translations you guys are doing of the OP in other languages here are great though +1. |

My comments / opinions regarding Earthcoin
First, Earthcoin had a well planned launch. Good graphics and a development team. There are many more supporters of EAC then haters so this should bode well.
There were / are some problems with mining pools... But I do not believe this is or should be Earthcoin developers responsibility to fix. Certainly they should lend their technical expertise and even offer bounties but that's it. Newsflash... Pool owners operate pools for profit, they are a business, and as such are responsible to make sure their own pools work properly.
2% Premine... this has probably been the biggest source of controversy, but any successful crypto coin must be run like a business... and business require money to operate. If EAC is to rise above the alt currency fray and achieve its goal of being as widely accepted, or more so, then bitcoin then it needs organized development, marketing, and leadership. Personally, I hope they exchange .5% of what they premined on the exchanges when they open up... that capital will help grow and advertise their brand. It would also put enough EAC into circulation that it can be traded. The remaining 1.5% in my opinion should be split into .5% for bounties and giveaways and the remaining 1% the devs will hold onto for the long haul...
Yes... anyone can start up a alt coin... but only a coin that has both an accepted value and faith in its longevity will stand a chance at widespread acceptance as a currency.
At this stage of Earthcoin's life it is up to us, the community as well as the developers to nurture and grow this coin... that is if you believe in the concept.
I sold some of my Earthcoin that I mined on day 1... I did this to hedge my bets that this may fail... now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I also continue to sell Earthcoin on Ebay... believe it or not I've had to raise my prices due to demand...
There will always be haters for various reasons but I question the motives of most of them.

Earthcoin team, we really appreacie your great work as a team. Your great work is recognized, that's why so many people are mining this coin, that's why the coin's network hashrate is constantly above 1Gh/s, and even went to 1.7Gh/s yesterday. Keep up the great work, and ignore the haters messages. They represent those who have another coin? or missed the boat? or whatever I don't care.
