862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / If ethereum becomes too expensive it fails on: July 25, 2014, 09:32:25 PM
I was reading the disclaimer and they said the network could be instable and businesses could be forced to stop operating if eth becomes too expensive. My question is: how can it go to the moon then? Isn't that like btc would stop working once it's more expensive than 2k$ or something? Isn't it kind of guaranteed then to fail? I mean, don't we know the rampant speculation around here?
Guys, you can't speculate on eth because if you do it fails!

I know nobody will listen, then isn't it already nailed it will fail?

edit:
copy of TOS:

"19.15 Risk of Rapid Adoption and Insufficiency of Computational Application Processing Power on the Ethereum Network

If the Ethereum Platform is rapidly adopted, the demand for transaction processing and distributed application computations could rise dramatically and at a pace that exceeds the rate with which ETH miners can bring online additional mining power. Under such a scenario, the entire Ethereum Platform could become destabilized, due to the increased cost of running distributed applications. In turn, this could dampen interest in the Ethereum Project and ETH.

Insufficiency of computational resources and an associated rise in the price of ETH could result in businesses being unable to acquire scarce computational resources to run their distributed applications. This would represent revenue losses to businesses or worst case, cause businesses to cease operations because such operations have become uneconomical due to distortions in the crypto-economy."

864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Limiting New Accounts on BitCoinTalk (BCT) on: July 25, 2014, 07:46:21 PM
i have an idea!! Why shouldn't btctalk ask for verification (government id plus something else) for people who want to launch a coin? Get them devs verified!

na, as soon as it appreciates some of their employees threatens to sell off their huge stash to make sure it isn't going anywhere.

867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Bagholders Support Group on: July 25, 2014, 07:18:03 PM
i could maybe offer workshops later how to succefully create a shitcoin and rip people off and run away when i have enough experience. Wouldn't that be something? I am sure there would be demand. Why are we even buying coins? If you are a shitcoin-dev with art least 50 coins experience get in contact with me to teach me those skills. Thank you.
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Bagholders Support Group on: July 25, 2014, 07:11:15 PM
ecc - a lot. i thought it would be ok, then the dev ran away
ebt - some i thought maybe is something but then they dumped on me and i have no idea what's going on with that coin - maybe the dev ran away
bcc - i thought could be taking off but turned out the dev ran away
particle - some i thought good coin but then the dev ran away
mrc - some, dev maybe ran away but somehow low interest in the coin
cinni - some, dev possibly ran away
muniti - quite a few - i thought it would be cool invetement but then guess what? The dev ran away.
corgicoin - a lot. I thought it would rise again. Everybody thought the dev ran away when in reality he just was scared of trolls and refused to use btctalk (he told me on twitter) so the coin died

my conclusion: this is a shitfest and the only way to make money around here is to rip people off. I was thinking about getting some skills and launching some fake coins (maybe 10 or 20 or maybe 100) and run away with the money. Please help.
869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: help me im scared eternitycoin program started downloading by itself on: July 25, 2014, 06:58:13 PM
Ok thanks, yes im screwed in the head because of recent issues in life. Severe ocd aint no fun Sad thanks for replying. Found it weird since the coin apparently died and i got new coins and shit but, to clarify, it is NOT possible for me to owe them any money??

in crypto you never really owe something apperently.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum IPO reboot coming, time to get nervous about the future of crypto on: July 25, 2014, 06:07:05 PM
The IPO is for a fixed amount of days. The amount of Ether created is exactly equal to the amount demanded by investors. Its market cap will be what the market decides. The Ethereum developers have zero say in this.

Good luck to the investors then.

they are not 'investors' - they are buyers of a product. It was made very clear by the ethereum-guys that no gains should be expected.

the thing that hurts is: the btc you throw at them will probably be worth 3 times what they are now by the time ethereum is MAYBE released.
If i was a buyer of ethereum i would not expect to get more btc back. If you bought eth with the goal of making more btc then i have bad news for you.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last two Bitcoins on Ethereum on: July 25, 2014, 05:33:37 PM
there is going to be enough ether for everybody. It isn't scarce. If i want some i will mine it later. Ipo is for idiots 99% of the time. Imagine there would have been no ipo what profits could have been made! But now everybody has ether and there won't be large profits later.
I think ether is going to be interesting but i am no sucker to buy their shitty rippoff-ipo
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Limiting New Accounts on BitCoinTalk (BCT) on: July 25, 2014, 05:07:12 PM

Every new account should be referred by a Member or higher rank to have some accountability

that doesn't make it harder for the scammers only for the legit newbees
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update Now to 0.9.5 wallet on: July 24, 2014, 07:23:42 PM

I agree, the law of supply / demand should begin to take over and naturally raise the price.  I'm always curious to know what the UNO community thinks is "a lot" of UNO? Is it 5, 50, 250, 500, 1000? What does anyone think?

i'd say that depends on the output of the network. Last year 100 Un was network output of halve a day. This year later 100Un will be the network output of a week. So last year 100 was a good amount but this year 100 is a lot.

The wider the coin is distributed amongst more people the more value it gets additionally. So 2015 or 2016 100Un can be a crazy amount. I am calling for concious trading of this token. It has massive potential. If and how quick Uno can live up to its full potential now greatly depends on those people holding the big bags. If the large holders trade wisely and keep holding with heavy hand and only distributing what the market can roughly take at the time Un can reach just about any price hand in hand with bitcoin.

What's a btc worth in the future? 2k? 10k? What's Un worth? 0.01btc? 0.1btc? 1btc? We'll see that. I think the bigger question is: "do you have enough of them"? Wink

These cryptocoins have potentially unlimited value. People around here forget that while chasing the pumps of the latest shitcoins (and experiencing brutal crashes/dumps far too often just because they were following the Pumpers and Dumpers).

If an unexpected large amount of people or unexpected big investors would take an interest in Uno price could be just about anything over night. Supply/Demand you know it. Supply is fixed and lowest. Demand can always grow - often fast because this is the internet. Think Uno goes viral one day...

Even if demand stays the same the price will rise over time. That's the beauty of low/zero inflation.

looking at specs and calculating stuff for coins makes sense. This is ment to shield you against inflation of fiat-money. Un is original crypto that did not go off track and kept focus very well on what it should do foremost: protect your wealth against monetary inflation.
There is a whole array of possible future scanarios that could shoot this coin into the Stratosphere. And that's not only because of its cool name! Wink

Nuff said.  Blazr2 did a pretty good job. Hodling! Wink

sent the crypto-detectives after him! He's probably at a random bar in malta, drinking cool coke and waiting for the heat to become less intensive.

Radi, once the sun isn't as hot anymore please come back to this project and make it happen. Thanks Wink
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update Now to 0.9.5 wallet on: July 23, 2014, 07:25:53 AM
so we are now waiting for the last dumpers to dry up, right? Coinex obviously is done.
Next pump will be epic once the reversal happens.

Someone should take up the task to talk the bullion-dealer into accepting Uno what Vector.iso suggested. Pleae make sure that guy is trustworthy.
I'll be trying to get my local bullion-dealer to accept Uno, too. Until we have that you can still message me for a private exchange metal to Uno if you don't want large amounts, so that service is kind of already there for private people wanting to swap a little with each other.

877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mintpal hacked (VeriCoin) on: July 15, 2014, 11:56:34 AM
Too many phony hacks.
What phony hacks have there been?

coinex, gox, cryptorush - mainly coinex was phony as.
Look how Karpeles "finds" btc later. Phony as shit. I don't believe a word they say.

They all say they were hacked but the truth is very different. You'll see that more often times in the future. They do it because they can.

remember this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=265277.msg7736137#msg7736137

we are not in lila-land with the heart-bears even if you would like to believe so. Don't trust nobody. Ask questions, demand answers. Othwise you will be screwed over again and again.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update Now to 0.9.5 wallet on: July 15, 2014, 11:31:30 AM

Being rare alone doesn't make UNO special.

i would disagree here. Because Un has a special background of not being flashmined, instamined or premined. In addition to that it has very, very low inflation. If you take all factors into consideration including its scarcity, oh boy. The scarcity is one of Unos killer-features making it one of the very few coins out there that really deserve to be looked at as wealth-storage. Uno is right now amongs the most undervalued coins in crypto. (strong buy for smart investors).
Un is not only low coin-count but also low inflation - being scarce in every possible way and healthy at the same time makes it special. I don't know any comparable coin tbh. Other coins are currencies. This is commodity.

Reddcoin will let me free up some btc coming hours/days. I'll buy more Un for it.
It'll jump big time soon enough. People who didn't buy during last months and don't buy now will kick themselves later.

I gobble up all your cheap uno but don't cry later. I have to ask myself who the fuck is selling so cheap?

[...] Mintpal was in control of 30% of existing VeriCoin, all of which maybe was stolen by a yet unidentified hacker. [...]

fixed it for you
What would be the goal of making the story up?

we can only guess that. What's the benefit of a rollback? Maybe was a testrun to see if they can get away with a rollback? Maybe want to bring regulation in? Maybe want to establish some kind central of authority (themselves)? We don't even know who mintpal is or what bribes they take from what parties. I don't see any reason to take their word for it at this point. Especially not after coinex. The paranoids were right far too often around here. This is not the place for blind trust, never was. I would recommend to question everything and why wouldn't you? Makes more sense to question their story than to believe things with no proof. I don't even know who is operating mintpal. I only find it highly suspicious they didn't go offline during or after the hack. I also don't like the way the rollback was handled. I have doubts and i think they are valid so why not express them?

It is far too easy for an exchange to claim a hack and get their way after that even if none took place. Too many phony hacks.
