We would hardly be demonstrating impeccable integrity would we?
I always like to ask..... WWED?

We'd neither be demonstrating "impeccable" integrity, mid range "sort-of" integrity or entry level "I-don't-really-understand-what-integrity-is" integrity.

The word "integrity" simply cannot be used in relation to anything where people band together in collusion to organise coordinated price rigging.

I'm a bit astounded that so many people think this is an entirely appropriate thing to do!

So we have Darkcoin's birthday coming up and we're going to "celebrate" it by creating a false manipulation of Darkcoin's price by openly agreeing to all taking trading actions at the same time. Are you guys on drugs!!!

There's a reason why people who do this in relation to publicly traded securities are breaking the law; it creates false market conditions that badly affect investors who are not in the know on what's occurring and creates enormous ill will when someone's come off second best because they weren't across the plan.

Regardless of the fact that this is  being discussed on an open and public forum like this, it's a very poor idea that's terribly lacking in fundamental fairness, decency and integrity. The price of DRK will go up when more people outside of the existing investors and supporters become aware of DRK's benefit's and its huge potential for growth.

There's great work going on here by many committed people to get that message out. That's what we need to be focussing on; not a coordinated attempt to pump the price.

I don't think a few people saying publicly that they're all going to buy some DRK on a certain day really constitutes 'market rigging.'

It's a gesture of support, not an attempt to hoodwink or swindle anyone.

Masternode count: 1987 Smiley
Drk.mn is saying 1781?

Hmm, my local wallet and all of my MNs report 1987-1989.  Huh
Mine say : 1782 too =)

./darkcoind masternode list | grep ": 1" | awk -F\" '{print $2}'  | sort -u | wc -l
1782

Yeah I get 1782 with that, but I was getting 1782 up until a few hours ago with just a 'masternode count'

My logs show:
Sun Jan 11 15:42:29 2015  Masternode count: 1872
Sun Jan 11 20:57:29 2015  Masternode count: 1875
Sun Jan 11 22:06:56 2015  Masternode count: 1983
Sun Jan 11 22:24:24 2015  Masternode count: 1986
Sun Jan 11 22:40:15 2015  Masternode count: 1987

I assumed someone had just fired up a bunch with start-many.

I'm against giving part of the block reward to any foundation, this is like premine. No matter how transparent it would be it would still look unfair to many people. The better way is donating.

Fair enough.  My suggestion would be for you to start an address now that we can send coin to.  It's much easier to talk people into donating when the coin is in its early stages like Spread is.

A good initial war chest would be $1,000,000.  Looking at a forward valuation of $10.00 per coin (I expect SPR to go well beyond that) that means 100,000 SPR.

If you setup an address, I will donate the first 1,000 SPR and once 75,000 SPR are donated, I will donate an additional 25,000 to bring it up to 100,000.

MyFarm doesn't mess about. Grin

I'll promise 500.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 11, 2015, 06:39:42 PM
At first I didn't like myfarms proposal of a masternode ranking algorithm that took into account ISP instead of just number of SPR.  But after reading this, i'm liking the idea more --

https://twitter.com/petertoddbtc/status/554005770493521920

Peter Todd: "With Bitstamp on Amazon AWS, there's a high probability that some Three Letter Agency has a copy of their databases; expect zero privacy."

Aren't most of DRK Masternodes on Amazon AWS?

16% give or take.

The trouble with a ranking algo is that it will almost certainly be possible to game it, and it's going to be difficult to come up with a 'fair' set of conditions and weightings.

Far simpler and less overhead to just limit the number of Masternodes on any given IP subnet.

Code:
if (adding this MN exceeds the max allowed 5% on this subnet):
display error: "There are too many Masternodes on <name of provider>, please choose another provider for the security of the network."
     exit
else:
     accept new Masternode

edit: it would be really nice to also have a Masternodes tab in the wallet, displaying MN count and distribution.  (hint hint gjhiggins - you seem pretty nifty with c++/QT.  Smiley )
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 11, 2015, 06:20:47 PM
I think giving up more then 5% of the block reward to the "foundation" is way too much. I would definately support 1%

How about 0%, because everything else goes against decentralization?

Is it just that you guys don't understand decentralization, or that you don't particularly like it? Or don't see any value in it?

Listen, it's not negotiable!  Smiley

Throwing our principles out of the window at the first opportunity or what?

Has bitcoin ever seriously considered such "foundation block rewards" ?

No. Do a hell of a lot of "shitcoins" discuss and embed them?

Yes.

Case closed.

I agree, sod all of this 5% to the dev fund! If you want to help the Dev, donate directly to his wallet.
Nothing should be coded to accommodate this! No matter how much i want to see SPR succeed!

I hope MrSpread has a reasonable stash of SPR that will increase in value over time, then he can personally keep himself going.

When I speak of a, "Development fund" I do not speak of the money going to Mr. Spread.  This would be a business development fund that could be utilized for anything from raising capital by doing private coin placements with accredited investors to hiring top of the line marketing teams to bringing on additional developers to acquiring other coins.  It provides all sorts of leverage and ability for Spreadcoin in a highly competitive environment.

In 5 years SPR marketcap is $20billion.

Alot has happened, and SPR is best coin out there.

MrSpread has left development and abandoned ship.

The "dev fund" continues to accumulate funds (and alot of them).

We cannot contact MrSpread.

We cannot shut down the dev fund, as it's hard coded.

What do we do?

Nonsense: multi-sig addresses, and anything 'hard-coded' can be changed, it's a git repo not the unalterable Word of Dog.

Investment means having a plan, and having the resources to carry it out.

Still waiting on information about what master nodes are and how they (will) work.

Come on you guys. I keep asking and nobody has responded.

Check out www.darkcointalk.org ? Plenty of information there.

i thingk a new change is made Mr.Spread in spreadcoin by correcting wrong  genesis hash value.
-uint256 hashGenesisBlock("0x00000ffd590b1485b3caadc19b22e6379c733355108f107a430458cdf3407ab6"); //mainnet
+uint256 hashGenesisBlock;

i think currently Merkle root and hash is different

That's the Darkcoin genesis block hash, it didn't actually do much in there, was just left over from the original code.

It has nothing to do with centralisation or decentralisarion. At some point you simply have to get shit done and sometimes that costs money.

Bitcoin IMO has been a resounding failure in terms of adoption. A 5 billion marketcap is pitiful after 6 years.

872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 11, 2015, 09:59:03 AM
I like MyFarm's idea of a % of the block reward going to a transparent and accountable Spread Foundation, but I've proposed the same thing for Darkcoin several times and know how unpopular an idea it is.

People talk about principles but for most what it boils down to is that they can't bring themselves to give up a little now for a greater return down the line.* If your principles are so steadfast, how about supporting the adoption of Spread by contributing a little to its development, marketing, promotion? Relying on volunteer contributions isn't going to work.

Half the Spread Foundation's income from any block reward split could go to some worthy cause and Spread would still be better funded than just about anything but Ripple and the mindboggling nonsense that is Ethereum.

Nearly everyone on this forum seems to think that anyone or anything in the crypto scene matters at all to the rest of the world - it doesn't, at all, because the rest of the world doesn't even know we exist.

Getting the message out to the masses is going to take more that technical merit and wishful thinking.

When you have shitty phone apps that are valued in billions but something like Spread is valued three orders of magnitude less, you're doing something wrong. Maybe we need a crowdfunding campaign...

*edit: not once though in this thread have I heard any SPR miner complain, at all, that the block reward is going to get split between them and MN operators. This has been an absolutely fantastic and refreshing change from the Darkcoin thread, where miners have generally done nothing but bitch and moan about Masternode payments... so thank you fellow Spread miners for understanding that MNs will increase the value of SPR and are in your financial interest. Smiley
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 11, 2015, 01:35:44 AM
Hmm, one miner has 24% of the hashrate.  Interesting.  Looks like we found the dumper.

Nice chart by the way.
No, 24% is just within this top addresses.

To clarify, people brought up the concern that some miners aren't taken into account due to their blocks being sent to a new address each time.  Is this correct or did you find a workaround for that in this chart?
The blockchain dont know which addresses are in same wallet. We can just infer that, after he assemble that coins. like Sfxc14Aj5FHA7cwLqxZyMxdus5CgVxr9Mw.

Fair enough.  Would you be willing to continue to host all of this?
Yes, i host it, and it is updated once every day.

elbandi maybe you could ask Mr Spread to put a link in the OP and on the Spread website?

With 23 Mh I find 1-2 blocks per day. What a nonsense Huh

You should be getting more
Last 24h i found 37 blocks with 80MH/s
damn lucky bastards and your being able to mine this fantastic coin Smiley I am totally envious of you guys and if anyone can help me set up my miner so I can possibly get more hash out of it that would be greatly appreciated.  I have an intel corei5 processors and I downloaded the AMD 14.9 catalyst so could someone help me out possibly with how to set up my start.bat for the miner? I am trying to use the one that Mr. Spread posted for the newbies who don't know how to mine Smiley

I would not processor mine anymore.  Only GPU mine.  I use (10) Nvidia EVGA 750ti's and I find about 6-10 blocks a day.  What is your GPU?  AMD?
I don't know for sure but there is a way I can check that out right? like somewhere I type something in and it will give me that information?

www.google.com

Put a little effort in... Grin

FYI - to all I just resubmitted a ticket request to have SPR added at Cryptsy.  I linked our thread.  I think if everyone considers doing this we might see it added to the voting list.

It can't hurt I suppose, but I've used cryptsy exactly once and will never do so again.  Cheesy

Ok since I didn't really get a clear answer before I am going to ask again;

My VPS has 2 ip's. How do I start two Spreadcoin wallets with each wallet on a different ip? (so I can have 2 masternodes)

Bind the daemons to the unique IP's it was answered with the forum link.
Well I specifically said can I use -bind and whoever answered it didn't say yes. They just said "You could do it this way" and sent me a link. (the link has really bad english)
I have my VPS's wallet set up already so I don't know where to start ln the instructions.

So it is as easy as -bind?

Yes, you'll have to change the rpc port as well, and make sure they are open on your server and local firewalls.
How do I check if the ports are open and if they aren't, how do I open them?

And this will enable me to run 2 masternodes on 1 VPS?

Yes, as long as you have 2 IPs you can run 2 MNs on 1 server.

I use ufw for my server firewall, it's very very easy. You can scan your server ports with nmap or a similar tool.

If you want to practice, you can run a Darkcoin testnet Masternode.  Smiley

0.11.0.4 on mainnet?
https://drk.mn/
impossible. I`ve seen that, probably monitoring have some issue.
There is often a MN with advance version.
Should be for testing purpose (Evan's or Flare's node)

v0.11.0.4

This version has everything and works on mainnet.

Could someone please give me a command to check multiple nodes using this command?  ./darkcoind masternode list | grep YOUR IP

Code:
./darkcoind masternode list | grep -e 'x.x.x.x' -e 'x.x.x.x' -e 'x.x.x.x' ...

Mine are all on the same subnet and they are the only ones on that subnet, so for me...
Code:
./darkcoind masternode list | grep x.x
... lists all of them. Smiley
