You can see how the bitcoin network fee has increased significantly recently. When closing a channel, you will need to pay for the transaction fee. I do not know how the fee will be charged when a channel is force closed. Were you the one that customised the fee for the channel closing? Bitcoin discuss should not be that hard for beginners. When I was a newbie, I did not found it hard. In technical discussion, I read other people's posts than posting and I posted just few posts and I was corrected often until I become better. After some days, I was able to post on meta board because I was later able to answer some questions as I continue learning. There should be no board that newbies should not post but it is better they first read what good posters are posting and they will learn and be able to post also on the boards.

If it is the encryption and decryption that I explained on this forum, you will need Electrum to do it because Electrum is the only wallet that is having it. But if it is PGP key encryption and decryption, you can use Kleopatra or other PGP tools. You can use another tool for encryption and use Kleopatra for decryption or vice versa or use the same tool for both encryption and decryption. But I prefer to use offline tools for both. For using Electrum and Kleopatra, it is not possible because they are not the same type of encryption. Kleopatra is PGP while Electrum is ECIES

Example

Alice and Bob wants to make a deal. Bob wants to make sure Alice is truly Alice and not any other person. Alice send Bob her wallet public key.

Bob went to Electrum and clicked on tools and clicked on encrypt/decrypt message:





Bob write his message, input Alice public key and clicked on encrypt to see the encryption like this example:

     



Bob will send Alice the encrypted that you see in the image above. Alice will go to her wallet, click on tools and encrypt/decrypt message. She will input her public key and the encrypted and click on decrypt to see the message just like you can see in the image below:

   

If Alice is able to decrypt the message, that means Bob wants make deal with the real Alice.

Other methods that can be used that is common on this forum is signing message with the bitcoin address that Alice has stated on this forum before. Another one is the use of PGP encrypted message.

Advice
Do not use the seed phrase or private key that produces the public key for having your coins. Use another seed phrase for your bitcoin. Use this just for staking.

If it is a seed phrase wallet, you will use of the public keys that your wallet seed phrase generated. If it is a single private key wallet, you will use the public key that your private key generated.

How to get you public key from Electrum
If you open Electrum, click on addresses. You will see your bitcoin address or lists of bitcoin address. Right click on any address among that you want to use its public key. You will see details, click on it. The Public key will start from 02, 03 or 04.

How does it work
You will send the public key to the person that you want to proof to that you are the owner of the public. The person will use the public key to encrypt a message and send you the. Only you that has the private key of the public key can decrypt the message. If you are able to decrypt the message, that means you are the owner of the the public key as you are bake to decrypt it with the private key that produces the public key.

If I am a campaign manager, what I will use to select people into any campaign that I am managing is merit and reputation. They are both important. I may not totally consider reputation but I will strongly not select people with negative reputation which is very valid. As for merit, I will not only consider 120 days merits only but also consider the people that send the merit to them. Lastly is that I will check some of the posts of the user. But I noticed that some campaign managers are not totally considering merits because some people are posting good but have little merits in 120 days. If I bring a campaign right now, I can not take arimamib becuase he lacks in many areas, both merit and reputation.

If you privately own your coin, then why having it on a public computer? That is risky and I will prefer to use my device instead which is private and not public.

If it is small part of the coins, I will prefer to use my phone instead of public computer. For larger part of my coins, I will prefer airgapped device or hardware wallet that is airgapped. I will prefer to store small part of my coins on an online PC.

It is important to backup your seed phrase but some people said the backup is not good online but which is true because we have seen how hackers was able to see some people seed phrase online and steal their coins. But I have been thinking recently that how can people in countries with natural disaster be able to backup their seed phrase offline? An example is the flooding that occured in Pakistan like 2 or 3 years ago that submerged 1/3 of the country under water. Even if you backup your seed phrase offline in many locations, it is possible that kind of flood can lead to permanent loss of your offline seed phrase.
