when the doom they all had been waiting for fails to materialize but instead they see bitcoin soaring higher breaking range beyond their imagination, next they do is to coin excuses,"oh he just got lucky, blablabla".

Last time I checked many pessimists spreading FUD about bitcoin years ago are now hiding their faces, some have got no choice but to swallow their pride and joined the BTC camp to financial freedom while others are still scouting for excuses to massage their ego.

One thing I know for sure man, it isn't luck that got us this far, it's we doing what they feared and failed to do. Grin

Well, finally Manchester United scored the second goal and won the match, McTominay deserves to be man of the match today after scoring 2 goals. On Chelsea side, this defeat will confirm Chelsea status as an unstable team where in each of the last 5 matches they will experience a win, draw and loss but yeah overall it's not bad because the one who beat them was another strong team starting with Newcastle and Manchester United today.
I've never seen such an spectacular and remarkable performance from Manchester United, the way the players and supports echoed chants of victory, it was really out of tract for the Blues and their supporters. They chilled down and couldn't belive their very eyes the type of danger that have befallen them. Erik Ten Hag have been praised by the wonderful display tonight at Old Trafford and that's the exact way they want to see Manchester United perform, because that will elevate them in all round performance. McTominay should be crowned MOTM after netting a brace against Chelsea.

I am just going to say this and I am sure I am going to get a lot of hate for this. But Manchester United was able to beat Chelsea because Chelsea is not performing well at all currently. The performance of Chelsea is pretty bad. Even weaker opponents are able to win against Chelsea.  So this had to be a three-point for Manchester United. And by the looks of it, I actually thought that Manchester United might walk away with only one point from this match. But luckily they kept pushing and got the three points in this match.  Let’s see if they can actually continue performing well.
Before Manchester United succeeded in defeating in two of their different games they met with Tottenham and Manchester City they performed very well expecially with the game they had with Tottenham.  This games they had with Tottenham and Manchester City gave many people the impression that Manchester United won't be able to defeat Chelsea because of how Manchester have been struggling for sometime this season,  but Manchester ended with a victory which was a surprise.  With this lose from Chelsea it seems Chelsea has gone back to bad performance.
Chelsea has so much problems to combat with and take care of  right from strikers, midfielders and defenders are all without creativity. As in Chelsea had so many opportunities to score many goals in that game but they wasted all the chances like an amateur team. Enough with the experiment's by coach  Pochino it's part of what is putting the players in an inconsistent position as they keep playing out from one different wing to another not allowing players master a constant wing and position. Up till now Chelsea has no first XI team.
863  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 07, 2023, 04:12:47 PM
Does any of feel behavioral change in you based on the win/loss in gambling. Myself had experienced it, and personally I used to be happy and I used to be polite with my family members and kid whenever I am on profit. On the day of losing it changes exactly in the opposite way, even for simple things I get much anger. Particularly while giving food to kid patience is must. On winning days I let him take his own time and eat. On the losing days I used to shout at him. I'm addicted, and I want fellow gamblers to make a self analysis at regular interval and be on the safer side.
This is bad if you let it always get the better part of you. Before we go to gamble we have it in mind that it's either we win or we lose so why let the outcome determine your reaction towards family members or anyone at all.

It's understandable nobody loves losing money and it hurts when we do but allowing it to affect our behavior thereby transferring aggression to people that don't even have a clue of what had happened to you like the kid that's way out of normal and you should learn to get yourself together.

No doubt our emotions are affected by the  outcome of our gambling results but we should quell the negative emotions right there before we move away from the position we stayed to gamble it will really assist us in making others not encounter from us reactions of  what they know nothing about.
864  Economy / Gambling / Re: QuitGamble.com - Free Help for Problem Gamblers on: December 07, 2023, 02:34:44 PM
Personal willpower is crucial to resisting gambling. The psychological appeal of gambling must also be considered. We could also promote self-regulation and mindfulness in our culture. Could community support groups or gambling psychology education be helpful? A community that encourages self-awareness and responsible gambling may help us address this issue on a personal and societal level
Personal willpower alone will not stop gambling. You need support from therapists, or support groups as it will help in developing accountability and addressing underlying issues. Will power alone will only give a brief solution to gambling. I know that gambling websites have a portion where write about getting help with gambling addiction. They are very helpful can connect gambling addicts to communities and the help resources they need.

I will have to disagree with you to some extent, not completely. Will power can definitely heal one off gambling addiction, but it all depends on the level the addiction have gotten to, you would agree with me that addiction are of different stages, and for the gambler who have gotten to a very deep level of addiction in gambling, I agree that, will power alone can not bring the gambler out of that addiction, the gambler will have to seek external help, like the one being offered by quitgamble.com.
But for the gambler who is still in their shallow surface of gambling addiction, such gambler can easily quit and come out from such addiction if he or she so want, and apply will power required to stop.
You all in the right in what you have all said. You know, for an addictive gambler to start responding to external supports system he/she must first recognize that what they are doing is wrong and harmful to his/herself and to bear it in mind that whatever measures external bodies are building towards him is for his own good interest.

So first it's the personal will power that count for an addictive gambler before the support from specialist or family and friends come through to compliment it all. It is extremely difficult to give support system to an addictive gambler who sees nothing wrong with his compulsive gambling habit.
865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is the only currency that has grown the most!! on: December 07, 2023, 02:13:04 PM
Present, there are many altcoins in the crypto market and they have grown a lot. But it has gone down and gone again, but Bitcoin is the only currency that hasn't gone down yet, instead it's going up. I've noticed that Bitcoin has grown the most over the past couple of days, but altcoins haven't grown as much in comparison. Currently, we see Bitcoin market above $44000, I think it will bring $45000 very soon. Will Bitcoin Touch $50,000 By This December?  What do you think about the way the Bitcoin market is currently growing?
As a pioneering cryptocurrency you don't expect it to perform less, therefore in it's leadership position as the leading digital currency bitcoin has been up and doing since it's creation and all other crypto rally around and depends on its growth for that of theirs. The $44k mark is na impressive one and a boomerang of shame to those that were criticizing bitcoin with all sorts of degrading and discouraging articles and discussions on socials when bitcoin price was down to $15k this year. But for those that filtered the noise, didn't sell out of the FUDs instead hodl and kept on accumulating it's now a profiting bullish market for them.

Just this month bitcoin moved from $36k+ to rally around $42k-44k within days so therefore there's a positive propensity that it can go touch $50k by the end of December 2023. The fundamentals has been on the positive side for bitcoin and with the spot ETF approval in focus anything good is possible to happen with bitcoin price right now.
866  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The message remains consistent from January to December on: December 07, 2023, 01:30:44 PM
Bitcoin was purposefully created to give users financial freedom and security from the middle man, but some users after owning bitcoin they go on handing it over to the middle through the behavior of leaving their coins in centralized exchanges. At this level you don't have to feel pity for such people they knew the consequences, not that they are ignorant of previous horrid and frightful experiences of others  who were holding their coins in CEX.

The slogan, " not your keys not your coins" is a motto that rarely any crypto enthusiasts would say they have no knowledge of, how much more someone with coins worth  $15k, when exactly will people learn?.  For the CEX it's their home,  they have cleaned up all traces as simple as that and as an individual you'll have no concrete evidence to prove your allegation making any class action a step in futility.
867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Do You Convince Someone On Something That Will Not Work on: December 07, 2023, 10:44:37 AM
There are people that don't have a strong mental construct to deal with situation of financial joy specially the one that occurred spontaneously with gamble he never expected but out of a first time trial it just happened. Before you know it they get absorbed by the delusion that by increasing their wagering they are going to get a bigger chance of winning big amount.

When we having a conversation with people for the first time or people that it has been long we last saw, we shouldn't introduce gambling in the discussion no matter how interesting the conversation gets, as we don't know what circumstance and situation that person has been facing and probably have been cracking his head to think of something to fetch him money, and now you have brought one up, gambling, and behind you he gave it a test and it was in his favour and you expect him to listen to any advise you have to say to talk him down from continuing.... Hell no.
It would have been better you never chip in the discuss  when you both first met.
868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 06, 2023, 03:49:06 PM
The last time Chelsea won Manchester united at home was two years ago and the margin was quite a good margin (1-3) but ever since Chelsea hasn't been able to win Manchester united bit at home or away it has ended most times in a draw and a few times in favour of Manchester united especially in their premier league games.

This will be the first time Manchester united will be playing against Chelsea in the premier league this season and I don't have an expectation for this game because both teams has been really inconsistent this season and one cannot really ascertain their form at a point I time, in some game they both perform so we'll while in the other they will perform poorly and one will think they may end up loosing but then Manchester united is in a better position considering their points and position on the table, they are aswell playing from home, although they have been beaten at home severally this season so I'm not sure how different it will be with This so I will just keep an open mind to it.
You just hit the nail straight on the head, keeping an open mind in this game is what both club's fans should hold to heart tonight as both teams has been so inconsistent that when you expect them to win a game that's when they lose woefully.

But let me try to be bias here with a few sharp ends about Chelsea this season. From all the clubs they have lost points to it has all been  average teams that could be refer to as underdogs in the premier league but when have been able to pose a strong form on bigger teams either winning them or a draw, and tonight Manchester united isn't an average team but one of the most top four teams in the EPL history, therefore my bias tells me that Chelsea might rise up fiercely to the duel against them as a big team and this game could probably end draw. But that Ben said I still want to maintain an open mind.
869  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: A piece of advise concerning various links flying around on: December 06, 2023, 03:16:01 PM
Op thank you for this piece, to be frank this is a right information at the right period and at the right place. And I'll like to extend my thoughts from where op stopped. For the past days I have been receiving similar links in my WhatsApp from my WhatsApp contacts in respect to the purported #25k that the FGN reported to share among millions of Nigerian households, although from what I heard some persons have received theirs recently even a close friend of mine received his last week.

But that is not the concern, my concern is how these fraudsters and scammers are taking a drastic advantage of the news to create fake sites where people are required to fill in sensitive data about them such as NIN, phone number, email address and password, after which they will ask you to refer the site link to other social groups/platforms as part of the registration eligibility process.

It's quite unfortunate that people still fall for this infantry pattern of scam because they act greedy and also fail to do research about the integrity and genuineness of any link and forms they see online before taking further action on it. All this naw we go direct am to the hunger for the land abi?

Let beware, avoid link and online forms you don't know and sure of.

When I think back and the whole journey since I’m a bitcoiner …

Many know my story but when my friend showed me BTC and told me to buy/keep/hodl it.
I knew he would explain me everything a long the way.
But at the very beginning he said you just buy BTC and you hodl it everything in between is noise that you just ignore.
I think that’s the best advice for almost everybody.

Life changing, that's for sure!..

I can only count on one hand, the amount of people who listened to me over the years and hodl.

Maybe it is because I am a shit salesman, but I'd gave it my best!
I concur, filtering the noise is one basic psychological strength to hodl for long.

At this epoch as an internet savvy person and,
you don't own bitcoin still questioning it's a risk,
hey bro, the risk is all damn on that person not owning BTC

871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People losing their Bitcoin is not a risk to Bitcoin: on: December 06, 2023, 12:19:37 PM
So I read a thread by a new member who was asking if the information that is being shared here is just theoretical to gaining relevance in the platform or is something that is actually being practiced in real life situation and the first thing that came to my mind is the numerous post about securing ones Bitcoin holding and the fact that some persons might be taking it for granted.
Bitcoin is in my opinion 99% of practical and 1% theory, every bitcoin informations we learn from the forum or any other platform are practical experiences of bitcoin users so if anyone is taking them for granted it's to ones disadvantage. Let drop one or two instances to consider:

1. Wallet hack and phishing prevention: when we learn about preventive measures to consider in protecting our bitcoin wallet from been hacked and against potential bug vulnerability we put what we learn to application because having your wallet hacked with your funds stolen isn't a theory. Maybe such people should wait till it happens to them.

2. Trading and investment: Does crypto trading sounds theoretical, maybe they should give it a try and experience the theory that's there in losing money. Etc.

Quote
The truth is that people actually loose access to their private keys and will loose their bitcoin In the process and a lost bitcoin isn't even a disadvantage to the network but actually increase the value of bitcoin in circulation and so if you take all the security measures being shared in the platform for granted, you're putting yourself at a serious disadvantage because if you loose your bitcoin due to your carelessness, it's your loss and not that of bitcoin and I doubt their is a means you can use in recovering a lost Bitcoin without your private keys.
People need to be careful in handling their private keys the importance of your private keys is equivalent to that of your funds as it's the only means to ownership of funds in a non-custodial wallet and should never be taking for grant in terms of it's security/safe-keeping.

At the moment a loss of private keys is a total loss of funds and there's no way for recovering it maybe in the future as technology develops developers might create a tech that can be use to brute-force into wallet with lost keys and gain access to funds.
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You At Any Point In Time Blame Who Taught Or Led You To Gambling? on: December 05, 2023, 05:00:03 PM
I was guilty of this when I was a teenager not on online casinos but in a popular game on Fiesta It is a color game using dice, I was introduced here by my childhood friend and I had a lot of losses with this game, I'm using my school allowance so every time I lose money I blame my childhood for leading me to this color game I do it in a fun way as if I'm just joking but deep inside I hate it whenever I lose. I struggled to fight the temptation but the excitement led me to play again and again.
How about have you at any time blamed the one that led you to gambling in your mind, or even told him face to face?

I am of the opposite as I decided to stay away from gambling.

My father used to bring me and my brother to cockpit arenas to watch him fight various tournaments. Before the said fight, people would bet between the two (2) chickens, either "A" or "B" and the minimum bet was around $10 on our area. As you can see, my brother started with $20 and he ended up with $100; while I started with only $10 and lost the very first time I betted.

While I do understand that there were some moments when I still attempted to gamble and won a couple of times, I just cannot get myself to be addicted to a dangerous venture. Also, while others may be lucky, I just really consider myself as unlucky in these types of games which made me really decide to not to gamble.
In your case I risk saying it was good to lose on the first bet, so you didn't go ahead. Because if you had won and went further on the game, like your brother did, the fall would have been much more harmful later, once you had achieved a sweet profit, losing everything right after. Then you would feel much more tempted to chase losses, potentially accumulating more losses yet on the process. Maybe your father wouldn't let you do that too, so we never know.

Between playing by yourself and partnered with a trusted person more experienced than you, I think the later is the best alternative, as he will prevent you from acting impulsively during the gambling session. That can save your life and your finances until you calm down yourself and start thinking rationaly once again.
Being a fresher to gambling and losing your bets in your first time at the casino or online gambling is to me an essentiality that every new gambler should experience as a caveat that will caution them to know and understand that gambling isn't a game of roses, you are not here to win but make losses however should you get a win at any point in time just take it in good faith.

But when a fresher starts with getting winnings in his bets as he gambles he would be leaving the casino with the reasoning and a frame of mind that that's how it should or would always be as he gambles moving forward. Such persons as they start experiencing losses they find it difficult to control their emotions and action regarding their losses and as @uneng rightly posit they will start chasing the losses and we all know where it all ends when a gambler start chasing a loss.

Till date I still appreciate my first time of gambling, for about two months of more  I never had a single win, days I bet in favour of my favourite team (sport betting) that's when they will lose a game, I was never happy at the experience though but today when I think about it I just smile because that experience made me comprehend that gambling isn't a game of roses.
873  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks are the cause of millions of crypto project failures on: December 05, 2023, 04:25:38 PM
Op a whole lot of things you say are antagonistic.
Quote
Banks are the enemies of governments and the main actors in wasting government capital,
How are banks enemies to the same government they work for and with? I'm the modern world the banks and it's policies  are a pure reflection of the mind of the government itself so am baffled by your argument. If you had said the banks are enemies of cryptocurrency that would have made a sense as the evidence are obvious to see and not what you are gibbering about.

What relationship has decentralization have to do with centralized systems that you expect that banks should support and finance crypto projects. Either way, altcoins are a pump and dump projects and banks as financial institutions wouldn't want to finance projects they are not certain about it's future.
874  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warming warning of the BTC, ETH & the LTC Cryptos upcoming halving on: December 05, 2023, 01:13:17 PM
There is absolutely no recovery of lost instead another chance is given to attain either similar heights.
Majority of Bitcoin investors has solemnly blamed itself for ignoring Bitcoin in the first place, a lot has blamed itself for accumulating Bitcoin before the bull-runs and yet fails to keep eyes up to the balls at when kicks to rolling.

I will never blame myself for not investing in bitcoin in the first place or been part of those that invested in it when it first started with a very low value 8-10 years ago. The opportunity didn't doesn't have to come to everyone all at ones, some others might not be moved to invest immediately it got to them because they didn't had indepth knowledge about it and to play safe they had to spend time doing research about it.

Whether you invested early or late in my opinion that's not really important, what is important is that eventually you have invested now and should be set to accumulate and hodl for long. It's surprising to note that not all that bought bitcoin 10years ago still hodl till date, some even sold even before the last ATH in 2021, so for me it's not about when you bought it's rather about how long.

Or does he just mean the BTC ½ ing will alter the other two?
Am guessing that's what he meant and more. Therefore we should continue stacking particularly for those that think they've arrived late, however I don't see any significance tops Litecoin hodlers are going to make in the coming bullrun as the price movement lately hasn't been encouraging, but am positive Ethereum will be altered significantly by the bitcoin bullrun  next year.

Many altcoin investors will be disappointed come next year when the bitcoin bullrun takes place as most altcoins would have little or no alteration at all, they would rather dump.
875  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Only Sell what you don't need. on: December 05, 2023, 12:15:22 PM
Now this is what I mean: assuming you sold your piece of landform $20k, you use $10-13k to invest in bitcoin and the remaining $7k to buy another land somewhere at a cheap rate. Surely, with years the value of that land will always appreciate so you still have a land (only that it's at a different location) while you invest in bitcoin stead of using (risking) all the money at ones.

Just my two cents.

Your two cents worth of advice is excellent, and it will help in accelerating the creation of a well-diversified investment portfolio. In this case, having only one investment makes it very difficult to achieve your desired goal due to the numerous lapses that come with having and maintaining an investment. Bitcoin investment is good and can be relied on; however, investing your money in land for future resale or use will also yield significant profits. What matters is how you plan your life and achieve your life goals. If the method you've suggested works for you, go for it; if not, you can always try another; what's more important is to try and invest in more than one investment with your money.
For a long term investment asset like bitcoin having a some other source of income inflow as backup can be helpful in building a good bitcoin portfolio whatsoever lapses that emerges in midway you wouldn't be forced to tamper with your long term investment bitcoin plans as your other source will cover for it.

Technically, if you had to sell a property or properties to get money to invest in bitcoin it then interprets that you don't have any other money left after using all to invest, and should in the process you had to face a financial crisis that entreat an immediate financial response you may either be forced to sell your coins or sell another property again.

Assuming you divided and invested  a higher percentage of the money in bitcoin and diversified  the rest amount into other sort of Investment. Under such circumstance the other Investment can be used in solving your issues that's why diversification is necessary as an investor.
876  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Opay-Fin Fech Companies Gaining Ground in Nig on: December 04, 2023, 06:05:53 PM
Still reminiscence the physical cash scarcity period at the start of this year between January to march, 2023, it was hell with all other common traditional banks when doing online cash transfers but Opay was a life-saver. While people using other banks had to wait for long, at times more than 24hrs to receive credit alert for transfer with that period due to the congestion of  network
it was a different story with opay. Not a promotion though but I must confess it saved me from those market women their wahala after buying a product where you will have to sit and be waiting for them to receive alert before you leave  Grin

Efficient, fast transfer and reception without transfer fees deduction. Many persons are scared of using Opay or leaving handsome amount of money their Opay account as a result of them not having physical offices networked throughout the country where a customer can work in a lay a complaint, so I think if Opay can make provisions for this to allay this fears they will be stealing many more customers from those other physically situated  banks in no time.
Congrats to Opay for the award, it's well deserved.

Since I have like 11 thousand dollars right now, I want to invest this amount in Bitcoin instead of keeping it in the bank. I know about investing in bitcoins and I know that there are risks involved, I am investing in the potential to grow money but I want to invest in bitcoins with the understanding that my money may go down due to market volatility. I decided to withdraw the money from the bank at the beginning of the new year and plan to invest the money in bitcoins. Now that I can't buy land, I will definitely hold this investment for a long time so that I get good returns at the end of the long term and I can also accumulate some more money through employment.
Bitcoin, It's not bad choice of Investment against land as it has the potential to appreciate in value/profit within a  shortest possible duration let say 1-3 as the case may be, and particularly now we are having the bullrun in sight, and with the bitcoin ETF approval underway by next year.

Op since you've the knowledge about bitcoin I am  earnestly convince that you have thought this twice over, therefore you know what you doing. All the best with your investment.

It seems we can wake up one morning this december and get BTC price sitting in the past  ATH before ETF approval. And if it happens to be so I only can imagine what the price will look like when ETF is finally approved.

Hello BTC pls keep the flag flying we all love it.
879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sympathetic gamblers looses itself on: December 04, 2023, 10:25:24 AM
Actually our financial level are not same and losses among gamblers shouldn't be compared in terms of we trying to be or showing sympathy. If we wish to show sympathy we should just show it and not doing so based on comparison of the amount a gambler had lost to gambling.

I could be showing sympathy to someone that had lost $10k to gambling not considering another that have lost just $1k, unknowingly to me the guy with the $1k loss was the last cash in his possession home and abroad whereas the fellow that had lost a $10k has so much in abundance in his wallet savings.

In all we do as gamblers we should resist the urge of gambling amount of cash we can't afford to lose, calculate your income percentage that you can affordably spend on gambling and stick to it to avoid seeking sympathy from others.
880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: December 04, 2023, 09:36:49 AM
It is Joa' felix intervention that made the difference in the first 45 minutes at the camp Nou tonight. It has been a fierce battle tonight as Barcelona took the lead in the 28 minute after a lovely pass from Raphinha to jao felix to put Barcelona ahead in the game though Barcelona have lost a couple of good chances tonight

but I think they are looking great tonight as they keep creating more chances in front of the athletico Madrid goal.Athletico Madrid have also done well tonight by not allowing Barcelona increase the deficit tonight because that would have been a disaster for them and would thrown them in chaos, as it is right now they still have a chance of coming back into this game and that's what's gonna make the second half more interesting.

Barcelona has many opportunities that can be converted into goals at least 3 shots were on target it's just that the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper can still anticipate it, unfortunately, Joao Felix scored the goal Cheesy I understand what he wanted to say when he scored that goal therefore he celebrated the goal. Now Barcelona is in 3rd place and 4 points behind yeah there is still a chance to catch up moreover, Barcelona next opponent is Girona if Barcelona can win then they will be at the top of the standings for a while. If we talk about the opportunity to win the title then Real Madrid has a greater chance of winning with a percentage of 60% then Barcelona is in 2nd position while Girona is not yet on the list I mean they haven't been able to compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Girona and Real Madrid are 4 points ahead of Barcelona. Therefore, even if Barça wins the Girona match, they will not be leaders in the league. Real Madrid is still at the top of the table and I think they will want Girona to win against Barça more because their real rivals are seen as Barça. Girona, on the other hand, is still showing Leicester championship performance and they seem to continue without losses this year.
Girona are in a current form that is threatening to both Real Madrid and Barcelona this season, the points gap between the three teams are not that much of a significance though it's an advantage but from what I perceive Barcelona will cling a victory over Girona when they meet as the team is now reawakening from it dull performance Seeing how they played against ATM last night.

Like I have recently stated in one comment previously, Girona might not maintain the momentum and strength of form they are now by February next year what they can possibly do is to fight to hold a spot on the table to qualify them for the UCL next season. The owners of the title we all know.
