861  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you had this gambling experience? on: March 05, 2024, 10:59:30 AM
I think that we remember more when we win in gambling than when we don't, so if a gambler bets a small amount and loses, he'll not remember it, but if he does he'll remember the win, so my point is that the OP probably also loses small insignificant bets and don't remember. I think that luck plays a significant factor in gambling, irrespective of the amount involved or the time that is put into planning the game to bet on. I'll advise that we don't use this mindset of winning when we bet a small amount to go beyond our gambling budget inorder to casually bet more than our budget, remember to always gamble the amount that you can afford to loose.
862  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Playing crypto for many years without holding Bitcoin. on: March 05, 2024, 10:26:53 AM
Hodling Bitcoin, alone just requires basic knowledge of how to protect your wallet from hack, keeping your seed phrase offline, somewhere safe and secured so it'll not be compromised, don't leave your coins in a centralized exchange, always keep it in a none custodial wallet, because if it's not your keys it's not your coins. And finally follow crypto news to know when it's bull or bear seasons, to know the best time to sale and make profit, not much technicalities required. It's more tasking and hard to trade cryptos, because you need to learn fundamental and technical analysis, even with the knowledge, you can still lose in trades. Also there many scam projects in the crypto space, to buy them can mean gambling your investment capital, except it's top altcoins. Investing in Bitcoin alone is what any investor that doesn't want to be too technical about the crypto space should do.
863  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Look presentable so opportunities would come your way. on: March 05, 2024, 09:08:01 AM
It's true that you're addressed the way you're dressed and looking good is good business, so giving a first impression with how you're dressed really matters, because it'll anounce and give you a better audience in a gathering or in an interview. Looking good doesn't mean that the person must dress in very expensive outfits, what matters is that the person looks smart in a clean clothes and shoes, also smell good.

We must understand that the way we look is the first impression, and that can give some marks and appreciations, but what really matters is what we can deliver after the first impression, because after looking good and you're not able to meet up the standard of why you're in the gathering or interview, then the looks might not pay off. It's said that a book should not be judged by it's cover, meaning that a shabbily dressed person can be more qualified for a job or an appointment than a smartly dressed person.
864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seeds Bitcoin on: March 05, 2024, 07:41:43 AM
Most of us that had our first wallets before having crypto knowledge where careless with our seed phrase, because we we're probably not well educated on the importance of keeping them in a safe and secured location, and that if someone had access to it, that they can have access to our coins through the wallet. I still have my first Bitcoin stuck in my first wallet till today, I imported the wallet and whenever I typed the seed phrase, it keeps telling me that I missed a spelling, I've tried different similar words without any luck, so I just left it. The experience is painful, because sometimes I'll just casually calculate the value of the Bitcoin inside, knowing that I might never access it ever.
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has AltCoins thought you a hard time lesson before? on: March 05, 2024, 06:33:51 AM
Investing in altcoins comes with great risk and that too investing in a single coin is highly risky. That is why it is always advised to diversify the portfolio which helps as if one coin fails the other might be a success. Diversifying the portfolio is risky if the coins where the amount is being invested fail. But, the risk is far less than investing in one single coin. If your friend had invested all his $1000 in coins like Ethereum or BNB then he would not have lost all his money. That is why doing research before investing is always recommended and investors should not blindly follow influencers.

Investment in altcoins is a gamble, because you don't know the ones that'll still remain relevant in the long run and have a massive pump to give you returns on investment, or the ones that'll not reach their full potentials and be dead with your investment capital. So to minimize risks I'll always advice any investors to buy top altcoins that have built reputation in the crypto market, even when their prices dips, they won't vanish, only a matter of time and they'll to start pump again, just like Bitcoin. If an investor must take their chances to buy tokens for quick profits on the short term, then it's important for them to diversify their investment capital into the different projects that they've researched, so if one doesn't give profit the other will.
866  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria House of Representative summons Binance CEO on: March 04, 2024, 04:03:23 PM
Di OP abeg make you take note say Charles-tim, start one thread wey im say Binance, talk say dem no receive any message say make dem pay any $10 billion fine, also Mr. Onanuga, don clarify say Nigeria, never ask Binance to pay di fine, and di news wey BBC carry about di matter no de correct.

I doubt say Binance CEO go honor dat kind summon to come answer to terrorism charges, because just like traditional banks wey legit people and criminals de do transactions through dem, na different characters de also do crypto businesses through exchanges, so if government no fit to fine or summon bank chiefs because of criminal customers, I no think say dem get di right to summon exchange CEO because of transactions wey people do through dem. Dis matter fit just be to distract ordinary Nigerians from di pressing issue of hunger wey de di country.
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Are You Identifying Potential Coins for the Bull Run? on: March 04, 2024, 03:05:27 PM
Despite the market's volatility, numerous promising projects have surfaced recently. After thorough analysis, many of these projects exhibit significant potential and are already listed on top exchanges. Tokens such as $MANTA, $ALT, GPT, and $PIXEL have particularly captured my attention.
I've heard of the tokens you mentioned but I haven't dabbled much with tokens. How these tokens develop and whether the rush can live up to their potential in the future, I think is the biggest challenge. Many projects are creating hype in the current market. Even after listing on top exchanges, projects are scamming, many are heard of falling prey to scams. At present I think it is very risky to invest in new projects, projects are waiting for different opportunities in the market how to loot money from customers. I think it's best to invest in top 10-15 coins where risk potential is very low.

If I'm not thinking within the range of the top 10 cryptos, then it's probably not for me, I'm personally quite skeptical about new projects, despite how they can be profitable on the short term and give many times ROI, investing in them is simply gamble, because there are more scam projects than legit. Although if any investor is able to take the risks, then let them research well and invest, if they get into a good one, then it'll be good profits for them. Tokens being listed on top reputable exchanges are not a guarantee that they'll be potential assets to hold on the long term, I'm just saying.
868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just a friendly Bitcoin friend reminder - High price = more scams on: March 04, 2024, 01:47:50 PM
Some tips;

• Double check your backups,
• Do not store your coins on centralized exchanges,
• Use only non custodian wallets for cold storage,
• Do not disclose your crypto holdings casually,
• Have an investment plan, do not simply watch the charts without knowing what you plan to do with your coins. Here's a thread that can help with that.

Bonus advice, don't go about looking for the next Bitcoin.

Thanks for the additional tips, to add to the one that the OP emphasized on, saying that we should try as much as possible not to click unfamiliar sites, all these points must always be emphasized, no matter how many times we've heard them before. Because of the many scams and hacks in the crypto space, crypto holders must take every necessary precautions to protect their coins, especially now that we're entering bull run, a lot of scammers will be enticing novice investors to scan projects. My addition will be to see every unfamiliar links that is sent to you as a potential scam, even if they were sent to you by your loved ones, because they might have ignorantly forwarded it to you as received.
869  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC ATH in local currency on: March 04, 2024, 12:06:42 PM
This will be my first halving and ATH experience in Bitcoin investment, and without making comparison with the last ATH, I'll say that so far leading to this bull season and eventually ATH, it has been a very big eye opener for me. My country's currency is devaluing everyday, and people that are keeping their money in banks are running at great lose, because the value is decreasing everyday, but it's the opposite for a person like me that's hodling Bitcoin, I'm not affected by the devaluation of naira, as Bitcoin is pumping, it's value in naira is also increasing. By the time we reach Bitcoin ATH, it won't matter whether our local fiat keeps devaluing or hopefully it starts to appreciate, it won't affect my personal finance, because the value of my money will greatly increase.
870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Work Now May Not Work Tomorrow on: March 04, 2024, 10:58:19 AM
Most gambles are solely based on luck, a method that you used today and it works, doesn't guarantee that the same method of gambling will work tomorrow or the next, so it's best to be dynamic, by trying different methods everything you gamble. Some gamblers can be superstitious and continue on one parten or style of gambling that they believe will bring them winnings, I guess they'll keep losing until the day that luck will shine on them, then they'll win and think that it's because of their beliefs, forgetting that they've been losing with the same parten all along. This is why it's important to gamble with the amount that you can afford to loose, so it won't matter much if you use one or multiple parten to gamble.
871  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrency exchange do you recommend for the Colombians ? on: March 04, 2024, 10:20:28 AM
So which exchange works the best for Colombians, considering that the fiat money withdrawals and deposits in the exchange account are made directly from the local Colombian bank account?

Any useful information and comments are welcome!

I just ran a quick search  and from the result I obtain, "Binance is the most popular Bitcoin exchange in Colombia with 170,000,000 users".

Binance is one of the big tire one exchange and it is very know in most countries, I even believe that it's also one of the popularly used exchange in my country.

Another exchange you can try is Kraken.

Since millions of Columbian crypto users are using Binance services, I think that it's safe to say that it'll be most preferable for the OP, let him decide between it and Kraken, I'm not from Columbia, and I don't know the data of people that use Kraken, there, but from what I know, I'll go ahead with Binance, because they're the number one rated exchange in the world. Also consider that Binance p2p is very convenient, I believe that you can easily find marchants that you can transact your crypto with, but let him beware of scammers, always confirm that money has been paid into your fiat account before releasing your coins.
872  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coping with expectations on: March 04, 2024, 08:56:15 AM
Try to talk to your family about how you're feeling. Let them know the real deal about your university experience and that it's been tougher than they might think. Share that you're working on it but you need their support rather than extra pressure. Together, set some goals that make sense for you. Don't forget to take care of yourself and remember success isn't just about grades. I know that its easier said than done but remember that youre not alone in this

I totally agree with you that opening up to your family and friends that have high expectation of you, when you're finding it difficult to live up to their expectations is very important, if you're not able to communicate effectively with them to understand your shortcomings, then you'll be surprised that you'll work yourself to depression, and they'll be the same people that'll ask why you didn't open up that you're having challenges, that they would've provided emotional or financial supports.

Also remember that despite your best efforts that you can't please everybody, you can only do your best and leave the rest, ofcourse this doesn't mean that we shouldn't work to become better. The point is that our wants in life are insatiable, because the more we achieve the more we want to break that record and achieve more, so remember to give yourself a break sometimes and just relax and forget all worries.
873  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Satoshi Nakamoto Alive ?! on: March 04, 2024, 07:50:27 AM

Giving Tribute to our heroes is what we as humans do and Satoshi with likes of Hal Finney are no exception.
The world knowing Satoshi does not really matters in the long run because we all will be history and Bitcoin will still remain.

Remember that movie series 'Vicking, in the last episode when the lead act Ragna, who had been gone for a long time and his family and people had moved on, suddenly showed up, their expressions were like, "why did you come back". So Satoshi Nakamoto's, anonymity has become his identity, if he were to show up now, I doubt that he'll get that heroic welcome, because since he or them created Bitcoin and disappeared, we've moved on with Bitcoin, and we're thankful to him for giving us this decentralized digital asset, that we,re hoping that it's value will outlive us, as it's doing very fine without Satoshi, ever since he exited the scene.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Acquired knowledge from cryptocurrency indulgence on: March 04, 2024, 06:39:09 AM
Joining this forum has been the biggest crypto decision that I've ever made, I've gained so much knowledge about how to secure my coins and if I had started my crypto investment journey before joining this forum, I'd have probably fallen for any scam project that is hyped on YouTube, without carrying out any research. As far as crypto goes, the best choice is definitely Bitcoin, I'd always hodle over %70 of my crypto investment capital in it, then I will spread the rest on altcoins that I think are reputable and will give me ROI as Bitcoin.
875  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binance said government did not ask for $10 billion fine on: March 03, 2024, 05:49:31 PM
The economy matter tire everybody, no be only you @Charles-Tim, we no even know wetin to believe again, anyway for dis matter, di case of the fine, don settle im sef, as both sides don say dem never anounce or hear any fine matter. Wen I first hear di $10 billion fine, the thing really shock me, I come wonder weda Binance steal our oil wells wey dem go hammer dem dat kin fine. Where my concern de for dis Binance and BDC matter be say weda e go make di prices of commodities for market to come down, because the economy de get worse everyday, hunger de increase for di country everyday, no be joking matter.

For weda you go lock di oda thread, make you use your discretion my oga. Thanks for your updates.
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you still Invest in the potential heartbreakingly AltCoins? on: March 03, 2024, 04:18:02 PM
Why do people invest in altcoins, despite knowing the risks involved that they're most likely gambling their capital, the answer is simple, more profits on the short term. Most altcoins, especially new projects can give you 10x to 100x profit on your investment capital, on a short term, but why it's a gamble is because you can lose your investment capital as well, if you buy a scam project. But it's not all the altcoins that are scam or will not have the potentials to last for long term, there are top altcoins that have proven their reputations in the crypto space, despite their pumps and dips, they're still worthy to hodle for the long term, they follow Bitcoin bull seasons to give their investors good profits that is worth their wait.
877  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are still early in this bull run. Retails have yet come back massively! on: March 03, 2024, 03:23:55 PM
The way the bitcoin market moved from last month to today led many people to believe that they had missed out on the party and were left behind. Until the halving, I believe everyone entering the market is still early in the bull and will profit significantly if they act now. We are already counting down to the halving, and if the price breaks or does not break by then, we can predict how high bitcoin will go after breaking the current ATH price. The bull is still in the early stages; there is no need to panic or feel FOMO. You can only get as much as you invest early in bitcoin when the time for bull run reaches and gets to its maximum value at the end of the bullish period.

Buying Bitcoin now is definitely not late, infact with the price prediction we're quite certain that it can hit up to $150k in the peak of bull run, so if a person starts now to hodle, within a year's time, he'll be sure of getting over %100 ROI, I think that'll be a very good deal for any investor. No doubt we're still in the early stage of bull run, and just imagine what will happen after halving, another massive pump because of temporary scarcity, so this is not a time to panic and wish you'd started accumulating earlier, because the party is just getting started. Bitcoin adoption have been massive now because a lot of people are becoming more aware of this bull season, and they want to be a part of it.
878  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving don't make wealth on: March 03, 2024, 01:47:30 PM
Savings and investments are both important, and in my own understanding they're supposed to play different roles in a person's income, what is not good economically is spending all your income as they enter. The best thing is for a person to have a budget and determine what goes where, how many percentage for investment, savings and basic expenditures, with this maths the person will not spend on unbudgeted items , except in an emergency.

After you remove money for basic expenses for the month or week, I think you should divide the rest, save %30 in fiat and invest the rest%70. The savings incase urgent expenses arises, so you won't be running around looking for where to borrow, then investment to secure your future. One of the best investments that anybody can have in this age is Bitcoin, you can be doing DCA method to accumulate and hodle on the long term, it's a profitable asset that will keep increasing in value.
879  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible to inherit a gambling debt? on: March 03, 2024, 12:55:04 PM
People inherit depts, whether the deacesed borrower used it for gambling or for any other purposes, but it'll be most painful for a person to inherit a dept that was used to gamble, especially if there was no wealth left behind to show for the deacesed gambling. If it's proven that the lender knows that the borrower was going to use the money for gambling and went ahead to borrow him, then I believe that who inherited the dept can have a case against the lender not to repay the loan. People should be responsible about gambling, that's why it's said that we should gamble with the amount that we can afford to loose.
880  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you want slave? on: March 03, 2024, 10:18:00 AM
The gap between the rich and the poor is very wide in most developing and underdeveloped nations, the rich and influential will do everything in their power to make the poor to remain in the lowest class, so they'll continue to exploit them by paying them peanuts for an elephant's job. Freeing oneself from the shackles of mental slavery and working to achieve financial freedom depends on where you are, if you're in a country where the leaders are always oppressing the poor with economic implementations that favors only the rich, then it'll be hard for the common man to escape poverty. Many poor people have the mindset to better their fortunes but the enabling environment to flourish their ideas is not provided by the government, this is why the rate of migrants to developed countries is on the increase.
