861  Economy / Economics / Re: Could the banking system be behind cryptocurrenices? on: June 17, 2017, 10:46:01 PM
If banks were behind the cryptocoins they wouldn´t be anonymous addresses or mining farms in China, it would have been very different. In fact cryptocurrencies are a threat for them, that´s why they are researching on blockchain technology to find a way to take advantage and offer people their "safe alternative".
862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fast & Safe? on: June 17, 2017, 10:04:48 PM
If you have your coins in an exchange and you want to withdraw them out of fear for what may happen on August 1 the best thing you can do is withdraw them soon, don´t wait until the last week of July because the network can be too congested those days.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man Robbed at Gunpoint for $1,100 Worth of Bitcoins in Brooklyn on: June 17, 2017, 09:14:55 PM
The strange thing in this story is that the seller was who stole the buyer´s bitcoins. The most logical thing had been to steal his cash money, which he was going to use to buy the bitcoins.
864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin "Perfect Storm" Brewing for Summer 2020? on: June 16, 2017, 10:50:28 PM
It´s too soon to say a price, it depends of how bitcoin fixes its scalability issues, but the halving will boost the price, that´s for sure. It doesn´t mean that the price will take off after the halving, surely this will happen some weeks before.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will countries launching their own cryptocurrencies affect bitcoin? on: June 16, 2017, 06:42:44 PM
Yeah some countries are planning. I think India may launch its own. There were rumors about LaxmiCoin a few years back. Instead of legalizing bitcoin they may launch their own.

This is what all countries are going to do. They are not to ban Bitcoin or anything like that but bitcoin is not going to displace national currencies, this is not going to happen. Goverments will take advantage of this technology to create a "digital version" of national currencies and I think this will be good for bitcoin adoption. People will get use to digital currencies and when they know about bitcoin and realise that it can help them to keep their privacy in their transactions they will give it a try

People repeat the same nonsense year after year

All countries already have "digital versions" of their national currencies. In this way, they don't need to create anything since electronic money transfers (since this is what digital currency ultimately boils down to) existed decades before Internet itself was born. And what's more, the amount of digital fiat in most (if not all) countries by far exceeds the amount of cash in circulation. You seem to be posting from a very backward place or just severely uninformed (no offense intended)

My fault. When I said "digital versions" I should have specified that I was talking about "blockchain digital versions", I mean, they will create some kind of coin/token backed by fiat money a 1.1 ratio.

But what's the purpose of that?

If it will be a decentralized coin (something likely dubbed as "people's money"), they will be just starting another altcoin, which makes no sense since there are already quite a few altcoins sticking around (and even more kicked the bucket by now). If it will be centralized, then the whole idea makes no sense since they already have fiat which is by definition as centralized as fuck. There is simply no use for blockchain technology as far as fiat currencies are concerned

Those coins will be centralized, that´s for sure, and controlled. I guess the banks will play a key role. They are researching on blockchain technology time ago. About the purpose my guess is that goverments are seeing the potential o cryptocoins and want to "offer" population "their" coin so they will be able to control the movement of money, I am sure that there will be no privacy or anonymity with these coins.

867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BItcoin needs to die on: June 16, 2017, 10:09:03 AM
What use is Bitcoin if in 9 years you cant even buy groceries with this shit

You cant build a business on bitcoin because of the volatility and even if you try to runa business on bitcoin you have to wait forever for a transaction to be sent

whats the point of bitcoin, if you cant do anything with this shit?
You can buy more than just groceries with bitcoin http://www.coindesk.com/information/what-can-you-buy-with-bitcoins/

If merchants are not ok with price volatility, they can use third party merchant solutions like bitpay to instantly convert all bitcoin payments to fiat.

I think all real world merchants use solutions like Bitpay or Gocoin. They don´t have to worry about volatility, transactions delays or fees, they give their uses the choice to pay with bitcoin and they receive their fiat money. The problem is for the third party companies, they are who take the risks. Possibly because of these risks their fees may be high and that´s why there are not more merchants accepting bitcoin payments.

Everytime bitcon price drops hard you can read these articles, bitcoin is worth nothing, stay away, etc. It´s like they have these articles writen time ago waiting for the right time to be published.
870  Economy / Speculation / Re: No need to panic guys! Here's why... on: June 15, 2017, 10:48:28 PM
I have the feeling that there will not be a hard fork at the end. I think the group that reached the New York agreement will meet again or they will change some terms of the former agreement or something. The hard fork is too risky, it can be two coins but only one can be bitcoin, two can coexist but only one can lead, if we take the example of Ethereum only one can be the ETH. For big companies to stay at the weak chain after a theorical hard fork could be a disaster, too risky.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New US law proposal will make all crypto illegal on: June 15, 2017, 10:30:29 PM
I was thinking it was the disaster that happened in London and usa yesterday that is affecting the price of crypto currencies but from this news many Americans crypto currencies traders are selling off their coins and price of most of the coins has dropped over 25% now. Though another opportunity to buy cheap as this law is norgratal

This law has no effect on price, fucking read before commenting. It does nothing to legal holders and you would be required to declare what you own over $10,000 when crossing the boarder.

This point makes no sense at all. Are they goint to check if all travelers have a pendrive with a btc wallet? Are they going to check their smartphones to see if there is a btc wallet with funds? Are they going to calculate the amount stored in USD? What reference will they use? Coinbase? Stamp?
But the thing is they don´t even need to take their wallet with them if they remember their seed. Will the border agents ask them if they own bitcoins and if they remember their seed?
872  Economy / Speculation / Re: price getting down on: June 15, 2017, 06:08:39 PM
This dump is not strange, the strange thing was when the price reached $3000 with the threat of a hard fork around the corner. I would not buy a Bitcoin now until the situation becomes clearer
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The king is already dead. on: June 15, 2017, 10:09:23 AM
I wish good luck to the new kings trying to get the popularity and roots that Bitcoin has among real world peope, good luck trying to be accepted at stores, hotels, travel agencies, theaters, ATMs, etc.
