861  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sold my Bitcoin today on: November 07, 2017, 11:24:34 PM
I sold my bitcoin today. I think the price jumped too much too fast. My opinion is that it will drop below 5,000 soon and in that case I will buy back again because i expect bitcoin to increase significantly in the long term.
What do you think??
Edit: If you are wondering at what price, i sold at $5720. I bought Litecoin with ithat money.

And now, have you taken a look at the recent price of Bitcoin? My friend, it has happened several times before to a great deal of people. When Bitcoin finally hit $100, a big part of the people are saying it is reaching too high and it is selling time because it might burst soon. And a few more months later, they began to suffer with regrets because Bitcoin continued to shoot past $500. We have big goodbye to $5720 because we are here at $7,000 plus.
862  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you had 10k Would you buy Bitcoin before the fork or after? on: November 07, 2017, 10:49:05 PM
Noob here asking , If you had 10k Would you buy Bitcoin before the fork or after?  and Why? Would it make a difference if you had 100k?

Watch out for a dip days before the fork. I think it will happen. Buy during those one or two days and then hodl your Bitcoins. There are two possibilities however after the fork. It might happen that the value of Bitcoin will continue to climb or it will fall down. There are risks involved actually. But if you plan to continue holding your Bitcoins until past November and December, you will definitely earn gains.
863  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin benefit of saving for a long time? on: November 07, 2017, 01:26:50 AM
why so many people store their bitcoin in their wallet for a long time, whether the benefits will they get?

Come share your thoughts

This question is very basic. Anyone who knows even a little about Bitcoin knows the correct answer. We are storing Bitcoins in out wallets because they are growing in value over time. Bitcoins, even if they are sleeping idly in wallets, desktop or online, are getting bigger and bigger in terms of value. Some others are actively buying and selling Bitcoins. But it could also be held purely and stored for at least a year.
864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think? on: November 07, 2017, 12:29:32 AM
I have not experienced how it is to be rich but I guess the rich people will be interested to use Bitcoin because of its features. With banks, these rich people cannot hide their wealth anonymously. They cannot simply choose any alias to be able to keep their riches hidden. And if they are traced, they will always be hot in the eyes of the tax bureau or the government. With Bitcoin, they can easily exploit the anonymous features and their identity as well as their wealth remain to be hidden and unknown.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon to accept Bitcoin? on: November 06, 2017, 11:18:30 PM
According to a newsletter from The James Altucher Report, Amazon will soon begin accepting Bitcoin, which they will officially announce as early as October 26th during their earnings conference call.
It's November.
Yep,  and they aren't going to accept it anytime soon haha.

This is nothing actually. I think this is just a way for the visitors of this thread to click on the link and have it well-read. Another subtle ploy to bait people here. Amazon could accept Bitcoin. It simply means that there is a possibility that Amazon would do that but it is not definite. And for all we know, possibilities are unlimited. It could also mean as much as Amazon will not accept Bitcoin at all.
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who wants to be a Bitcoin Millionaire?! on: November 06, 2017, 12:19:50 AM
http://bitcoinmillionairechart.com/

Take your guess as to when $7,500 will be hit!

Who does not want to become a Bitcoin millionaire? Why, everybody wants to become a Bitcoin millionaire. Everybody wants to be rich. Everybody wants to earn millions. And bitcoin has presented itself as one of the easiest yet very legitimate way to become rich. No need to exert much effort. There is only a need to be strong enough to take the risk and invest a good amount and just be patient about it and then the profit comes fast.   Wink
867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you USE your BTC? on: November 05, 2017, 11:41:05 PM
As everyone knows one of the major problems with Bitcoin economy is hoarding. The idea of this poll is to find out whether the lack of spending in the BTC economy is mainly due to the lack of acceptance of Bitcoin payments, or is it that people can actually buy a good deal of stuff that they need with BTC but choose not to.

This is a good poll. I have always been asking some people I know whether they are purely hodlers of Bitcoin or they spend some portion of it to buy things. They usually answer that they seldom spend their Bitcoins. Same as me, I only spend my Bitcoins occasionally. But I was happy that after occasional spenders of Bitcoin, the next bigger Bitcoin owners are also spending their Bitcoins whenever they can. And the smallest belongs to pure Bitcoin holders.
868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: November 05, 2017, 11:07:33 PM
Is this thread full of bots or no one else seeing my comments?

More likely no one knows the answer

More likely, no one wants to answer. This thread is not full of mechanical robots. More likely this thread began with posts coming from human bots.  Grin They are the people who made this thread full of posts. Posts that will only compliment the original post. These must be people who are receiving something in return for their posts or they are simply hardliners of Binance. Binance is from china. I have reservations.

Hello, dev.

The ARToken ICO will be ending today as per the information from the website. The contributors are numbering to more than 3,000 but the actual ARTokens sold are not indicated. I cannot find the ANN thread as well. Can we have updates as to how much is gathered so far?

Thanks!
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs CEO Warns Not To Dismiss Bitcoin on: November 05, 2017, 08:37:03 AM
Wise man Lloyd..

As the Bitcoin surpasses the Goldman Sachs Market Cap, their CEO, Lloyd Blankfein, warned skeptics not to dismiss the cryptocurrency...

http://www.tokenschedule.com/news/goldman-sachs-ceo-warns-not-dismiss-bitcoin/

I think he should have said this advice long time before when Bitcoin was very young and have yet to make a name. Right now, the power and influence of Bitcoin has surpassed the limits set years ago. Bitcoin is now very strong. Skeptics not need be warned because Bitcoin is already very powerful that it cannot be dismissed even if they do so. However those people against Bitcoin would want to paint its reputation badly, the truth will always prevail that Bitcoin is now strongly trusted by a good number of people.
871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a True Believer? on: November 05, 2017, 07:08:24 AM
I see alot of people are holding Bitcoins and are convinced that their coins would multiply in value. The same people preach the Bitcoin ideology that its P2P,  decentralised, low to nil send or receive etc.

However, only a small group of people today are using Bitcoins as they were intended. And the fees are not exactly cheap to buy Bitcoins, not to mention those exchange places are basically like banks.

So my question is, are you a True believer of Bitcoins and other Cryptocurrencies that it will one day replace paper money, decentralised and all. Or are you only a believer that the price will continue to climb and you'll one day be a millionaire?

I simply find it fascinating that its apparent, people are preaching the benefits of Bitcoins but they are not using them. Preaching to newbies and drive up the demand and prices of the coins.
Rather, I would love to see people who really believe in Bitcoins, actually going out there and using the coins to purchase products, send/receive coins and let the coins circulate around. I would love to see that day. When the prices are not so volatile, and the coins are being used as they were intended. However, not being volatile also means the prices would rise sharply like it has been this year, which also means you wont be a millionaire holding onto them coins.

So are you a True Believer?

To be honest with the question above, I am actually torn between the two. But the bigger part of this is on the side of me becoming richer someday because of Bitcoin. It is not so much of using Bitcoin as a form of currency with which I can buy the things that I need. But it is not entirely my fault as well as to the others who are in the same shoes as I am. Who can blame us if the price is really moving up very fast? That is a very good opportunity which we should not let go.
872  Economy / Economics / Re: Wonder how many people can hold BTC for more than 3 years on: November 04, 2017, 12:21:25 AM
BTC was around $300 3 years ago.

Wonder how many people can hold BTC for more than 3 years and enjoy the amazing profit in this period Smiley

I can hold Bitcoins for even 5 long years. There is no problem with it for me. I can easily store them in a very safe wallet and let it sleep into a giant asset. By the time it wakes up, it is already a very huge asset. We can see from the past several years since Bitcoin was invented that its price has always been climbing. We can definitely say that it will continue to happen because the hindrance before is much more difficult than what we have now.
873  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price on: November 03, 2017, 11:35:28 PM
Bitcoin is moving to $2000 today. What is the impact of this geometrical price movement to the world financial system? Let us discuss.

How I wish we could still turn back time even up to this point. This was just a post done several months within the same year but it seems to belong to some very old past. Right now, we are past $7,000. That's more than 200% growth of Bitcoin's price. Feels nostalgic. I think this kind of appreciation of Bitcoin's value will give a serious blow to the banks since the crypto are basically against them.
874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you surprise by bitcoin price now? on: November 03, 2017, 11:05:10 PM
October 29, 2017 Bitcoin price ranges from $6,000 - $6,100 and today, bitcoin price is now $7,000. Are you surprise?

I think, if only those people who planning to invest in bitcoin manage to notice this sudden increase. I think there is a high chance that they will start investing.

I am amazed by its price movement but not really surprised. You and I know very well that Bitcoin is always going up high. The movemenst of these past few days are therefore part ang parcel of the true potential of bitcoin. Plus aside from the fact that the demand for bitcoin increases regularly, there is an upcoming fork that is perceived by the bitcoin holders as simple a way to receive extra coin.
875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Ransom on: November 03, 2017, 12:59:44 AM
What if you had, let's say....5000 Bitcoins in your custody and suddenly someone demanded it as a ransom in exchange for someone very important to you, would you make the exchange?

Well, since we are already talking about something that will be considered creations of our very fertile minds, then I will not give them my bitcoins. Nor will I allow them to be successful in getting that someone very important to me. I would rather use my Bitcoins to buy guns and ammo and gather some paid hard mercenaries and attack the culprit. This will be much better than giving up that easily.  Grin
876  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Bitcoin work for online shopping? on: November 03, 2017, 12:09:23 AM
When you buy something on eBay or Amazon, you pay the seller, he ships the product and upload a tracking number.
If you haven't received the item, you can call eBay or Amazon and, basically, what happens is that if they have a tracking number that shows that the item has been delivered, then it is ok, otherwise eBay or Amazon reverses the transaction and you get your money back.
Is that possible with bitcoin? What if I buy a boat online for 2 bitcoins and I never receive it? Is bitcoin able to solve this problem?

Thanks

Well, if the transaction has been made, we all know that it will not be undone anymore unlike bank payments or other forms of fiat payments. But if you are dealing with a legitimate seller and you have not come into an agreement that would be beneficial to the two of you, then perhaps you will decide together that he will return your bitcoins. The point here is that you should be careful of the wallet and the owner of the wallet. Because there is no such thing as second chance once a mistake has been committed.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi see the coming of Altcoin? on: November 02, 2017, 12:05:13 AM
Any info on this?

Did he (or his co-creator like theymos) foresaw the coming of other Cryptocurrencies?  Is there any where he use the name Altcoin or similar names? Just curious...

This is a good question. I wonder how Satoshi thought of the future of blockchain. Perhaps if he was really optimistic about his invention, he must have foresaw that the future will be adopting and using blockchain. My wild guess is that Satoshi had already an inkling that there will be many other cryptocurrencies to be invented following his footsteps. However, I seriously doubt that he already thought beforehand that crypto land would be this messy and overpopulated.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Ethereum so special? on: November 01, 2017, 11:24:42 PM
Ethereum has seen a huge rise in its adoption as the platform new startups use in implementing their projects.
However, there are other platforms such as Waves that can do the same things Ethereum does ( even easily as Waves does not require any programming skills). Why can't new startups use the Ethereum alternatives? Is there any uniqueness in Ethereum that other platforms don't have? What makes Ethereum the in-thing?

Vitalik Buterin of Ethereum has invented smart contracts if I am not mistaken. This has provided more revolution to the blockchain innovation. It had also pulled out so many companies and projects to join the world of crypto. However, I also believe that it is not only Ethereum that can deliver all these. Waves is one project we can actually utilize to its full potential. The better edge of ethereum really is that it is very strong in promotions.
879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Time to buy again? on: November 01, 2017, 04:52:41 AM
Right now, it is not advisable to buy altcoins. Bitcoin has reached 6,400 ++ US dollars as of this moment. I think this is another round of people shifting to bitcoin while we are approaching the hard fork that will happen within the month. For the remaining days before the fork, we will definitely see more of bitcoin's price flying high. That is understandable because the prevailing thought as of this time is that there will be free coins when fork happens.
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long Term HODL Cryptos on: November 01, 2017, 04:06:31 AM
As I have recently just joined the world of Cryptos around 1st August but I am doing only investment based on long term HODL currently my portfolio consist of NEO, OMG, XRP, SIA, XVG & ADEX

Would like good advise on any other cryptos with reason which I should be holding for a long term prospect of 4 to 5 years time

I think almost all the top 20-30 coins in the crypto market today will yield some big profits if your duration for holding is 4 to 5 years time. That is a real long-term holding. I guess you do not have to worry choosing which one is really cheap or not. Most probably, everything is already flying high by that time. But you better be safe with some investment in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Waves also. These are coins that will surely survive.
