DJ Malan and Bairstow giving tough time to Australia . England has a real chance to have a big total of 500 runs from here . If tomorrow they bat well then they can put a good total . Australia need to make a good comeback tomorrow morning otherwise England will have the control of the match . Nice Competition .
I agree England are in a strong position to make a big total here with both batsman playing well however they will need to restart again with the new ball only being 8 overs old so Australia if they bowl well could restrict England to around 400 runs as these two batsman in now are the key to England making 500+ runs. Dawid Malan was very lucky to be dropped on 92 but he deserved his century and sometimes everyone needs a little luck when batting on a pitch that suites the fast bowlers. Today will be an interesting day to see whether England score 500+ runs or are bowled out for 400 runs.
If they can continue their play like yesterday then they can reach around 500 runs and if that happens then a most likely match may end in a draw.
This morning England started well so for they added around 50 runs without losing any wicket. Both batsmen scored 100 runs and now they are at 368 runs. Maybe this pitch is a supporting batsman more so we can also expect the same performance from Australia also unless England bowlers do better bowling than Australians. As OP said they may score more than 500 runs in this first innings. We can only say whether a match will end in a draw or not after seeing Australia first innings batting.
England tail batsmen are not supported well to make 500 runs in 1st innings, ENG scored 403 runs in 1st innings. Austrailia started well in 1st innings they lost 3 wickets for 203 runs. Captain Smith needs just 8 runs to complete his century. And Usman Khawaja also well played I think this test will end in a draw.
