8641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS IN A BUBBLE !!! The true value of Bitcoin is somewhere near ZERO on: July 06, 2019, 01:56:10 PM
But.. but.. $11,346.14 (current price) is ≠ 0, unless I'm wrong with my math. Libra coin? I thought everyone says that it's not a competitor of bitcoin? lol. Not a store of value (SoV), last time I checked people are flocking into bitcoin because they know that it is one of the best speculative asset, even surpassing gold and oil, so your argument is really flawed at the beginning.
8642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning: Fake BTC core BTC wallet in Google Play on: July 06, 2019, 02:46:11 AM
It looks like the Google has taken it down already. I can no longer access the download link.

So thanks to those who have reported it as we need to be aware and work as a community here.
8643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty alone is not enough on: July 05, 2019, 10:09:55 AM
I think it's high time projects know that they cannot rely solely on bounty and airdrop as a means of promotion. A lot of projects launch and they rely on their bounty campaigns and airdrop to help bring in investors and therefore fail to reach their softcap.

As I have said before, business model has evolved as well. Projects really need to step up the plate if they wanted to be successful. I haven't heard any project right now that just rely on bounty or airdrop to promote their ICO.

I never said bounties are not effective but it should only be used to create and reward their community not to bring in investors. If a project wants to promote it crowdsale then the team should deploy real promotional means like paying top influencers, attending conferences, advertisements on top sites like coinmarketcap, etc. Because no matter how good the project is, if it can't market properly then it won't reach its goals and if a project is mediocre but have a top notch marketing program, it will succeed beyond expectations.

On the contrary, there are a lot of project as well that went to many conferences and media exposure. But sadly, investors are getting smarter, they don't have the same hype in 2017 and most of them just stay away from those projects.
8644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: July 05, 2019, 09:36:59 AM

Warriors now lack offensive power because Kevin Durant was not into them anymore?  Sounds funny! They were able to reach the finals 2 consecutive times prior to Kevin Durant's arrival and others will say that Warriors is now done? Warriors still have their original drafts that made the team reach the top.

And why feel sad about that? Don't you want a balance and much of a close game challenge between two teams? Talented players should be spread out in different teams especially in the low-rank teams. I miss the old times where it's unpredictable who will reach the Finals.

I also think this is one of the reasons why Durant left. When they won 4-0 against Portland, lots of GSW fans says 'do we really need KD"? But KD keeps his cool and even went to the heights of playing and got injured again. I heard that Durant jersey will be retire though, as a appreciation and what he did to the Dubs nation. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/warriors-announce-theyll-retire-kevin-durants-no-35-jersey-in-statement-thanking-him-for-his-time-with-the-team/
8645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for bitcoin holders, after falling price now Bitcoin Surges above 12% on: July 05, 2019, 08:58:52 AM
And then the price fall in the last 24 hours for almost $1k, lol, that unpredictability for you. Do you need to FOMO? of course, but at least if you FOMO don't be too emotional if you see the price suddenly goes down after you put your money in the market. And really understand that this is the nature of bitcoin, and that the price would go on a parabolic rise, just saying.
8646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning: Fake BTC core BTC wallet in Google Play on: July 05, 2019, 08:38:35 AM

Just tick on the reason, I tick on Unlawful activities. and then on the "Please explain briefly why you flagged the app". I say that this is a fake wallet and a scam. And then tick "Yes" Is the application still available on Google Play?" and then put the link that I provided above (just replace the [dot] with .. And then you will see this message "Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention.".
8647  Other / Beginners & Help / Warning: Fake BTC core BTC wallet in Google Play on: July 05, 2019, 05:34:55 AM
There seems to be a fake BTC core - BTC wallet in Google Play.

Code:
FAKE Wallet - https://play[dot]google[dot]com/store/apps/details?id=com.corelinkbtc

So don't download this app as I'm sure they're going to steal your precious BTC. And as far as I know, core hasn't released any android wallet version (correct me if I'm wrong), so obviously this is fake.
8648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: July 04, 2019, 02:59:25 PM

This is just sad.

Not because of Curry's effort to go to China to meet Durant, its because he respects Durant's decision. If you all will be reading the article, Curry went to China not to talk about his decision but it is his respect to Durant. These two made the Warriors great with their teammates, I think it is really natural for a great teammate to spend some time, some last times before saying their goodbyes as teammates.
I can project the attitude of Steph. He's a real teammate and he gives value to KD and I guess it's also for his other teammates but it's not just publicized.
Change is constant for everything and these two will be part of the Golden State Warriors history streak.

I think it's pretty obvious that Curry did take a back seat when Durant join the Warriors. He didn't mind that because both of them are chasing for the ring, so yes, he is a real team mate, in and out of the court.

Time to move on then, they have separated in a good and professional manner. I don't know about Green though, he was vocal about Durant will leave the team and they have clash inside the court. But being professional, for sure it's nothing personal.

But GSW will be Steph Curry's team, and not Durant felt that he is under appreciated not by the GSW management but by the fans itself. They won 2 championship, he was a 2 time NBA finals MVP but still the love still goes to Steph. And then there was the case of Draymond and Durant clash and then the final straw is the injury he suffered. For me regardless if they win another ring for a three peat, Durant will eventually leave GSW.
8649  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Crypto Marketet Is Dumping Drastically !! on: July 04, 2019, 02:19:38 PM
There is a purpose why it dumps. A lot of things affecting the market. News is one of the reason why market go to the transition phase.  However, market has always pump and dump. We cannot prevent the certain changes happening in the market. What we need to do is just to go with the flow. Because they say that its hard to challenge the raging river, instead we need to move same as the current. Don`t be upset in the market because eventually it will just goes up.

I think you are late with your analysis, if you check the date of the of the thread, it was last year. So obviously the market it really dumping that time and we are in the bear market. But things have change, no more dump specially in bitcoin. Altcoins though continue to suffer, but at least they have recovered this year but still far from their previous all-time-highs.
8650  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin goes down, no new rich people anymore on: July 04, 2019, 01:36:52 PM
Technically, bitcoin is not a get rich scheme. If you are not an early adopter and a bagholder, then you have to wait for several years before you became rich. I think the best time to accumulate hundreds if not thousand of bitcoin is around 2010-2011. But that opportunity doesn't exist anymore. Price is very expensive for casual joes, and if you wanted to became rich a good five years of holding and having that mental toughness not to sold your coins is needed, very difficult though but it's doable if you set your mind with your goals.

8653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 03, 2019, 11:02:19 PM
The last time I checked, you're not the judge for the fight and I wonder why you're sure that Thurman will have a hard time throwing his best punches to Pacman when his plan to tease Pacman around the ring for the better chances.
Dont be too excited because of Freddie Roach statement.
Freddie Roach knowledge about boxing is exceptional so if he says something, it has substance. I remember the time when he said that Oscar De la Hoya can't pull the trigger anymore, it's true and When he said that Thurman is slow, i just realize that it could be true and just put my money on the Pacman.

Right, I still vividly remember what Freddie said about Oscar. So he really knows something because he has been in the game for too long, and If I remember it correctly, he also used to trained Oscar, so that's why he said that Oscar is not that same and can't pull the trigger. And that is what we witnessed during the Pacquaio fight and the rest is history.

8655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / US Congress is hell bent to stop Libra, with the latest statement on: July 03, 2019, 08:49:50 AM
Please read below the official documents they sent to Mark Zuckerberg (Founder), Sheryl Sandberg (COO) and David Marcus (CEO)

https://financialservices.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=404009

Quote
Dear Mr. Zuckerberg, Ms. Sandberg, and Mr. Marcus:

We write to request that Facebook and its partners immediately agree to a moratorium on any movement forward on Libra—its proposed cryptocurrency and Calibra—its proposed digital wallet. It appears that these products may lend themselves to an entirely new global financial system that is based out of Switzerland and intended to rival U.S. monetary policy and the dollar. This raises serious privacy, trading, national security, and monetary policy concerns for not only Facebook’s over 2 billion users, but also for investors, consumers, and the broader global economy.

On June 18, 2019, Facebook announced its plans to develop a new cryptocurrency, called Libra, and a digital wallet to store this cryptocurrency, known as Calibra. To assist it in this venture, Facebook has enlisted 27 other companies and organizations to form the Libra Association, which is based out of Switzerland.[1] These companies span the financial services and retail industry and include payment systems, like Mastercard, Paypal, and Visa, and technology giants, like Uber, Lyft, and Spotify. By the target launch date of early 2020, Facebook hopes to have recruited over 100 firms into the Libra Association.

While Facebook has published a “white paper” on these projects, the scant information provided about the intent, roles, potential use, and security of the Libra and Calibra exposes the massive scale of the risks and the lack of clear regulatory protections. If products and services like these are left improperly regulated and without sufficient oversight, they could pose systemic risks that endanger U.S. and global financial stability. These vulnerabilities could be exploited and obscured by bad actors, as other cryptocurrencies, exchanges, and wallets have been in the past. Indeed, regulators around the globe have already expressed similar concerns, illustrating the need for robust oversight.[2]

Investors and consumers transacting in Libra may be exposed to serious privacy and national security concerns, cyber security risks, and trading risks. Those using Facebook’s digital wallet – storing potentially trillions of dollars without depository insurance– also may become unique targets for hackers. For example, during the first three quarters of 2018, hackers stole nearly $1 billion from cryptocurrency exchanges.[3] The system could also provide an under-regulated platform for illicit activity and money laundering.

These risks are even more glaring in light of Facebook’s troubled past, where it did not always keep its users’ information safe. For example, Cambridge Analytica, a political consulting firm hired by the 2016 Trump campaign, had access to more than 50 million Facebook users’ private data which it used to influence voting behavior.[4] As a result, Facebook expects to pay fines up to $5 billion to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and remains under a consent order from FTC for deceiving consumers and failing to keep consumer data private. In the first quarter of 2019 alone, Facebook has also removed more than 2.2 billion fake accounts, including those displaying terrorist propaganda and hate speech.[5] It has also recently been sued by both civil rights groups[6] as well as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for violating fair housing laws on its advertising platform and through its ad delivery algorithms.[7]

Because Facebook is already in the hands of a over quarter of the world’s population, it is imperative that Facebook and its partners immediately cease implementation plans until regulators and Congress have an opportunity to examine these issues and take action. During this moratorium, we intend to hold public hearings on the risks and benefits of cryptocurrency-based activities and explore legislative solutions. Failure to cease implementation before we can do so, risks a new Swiss-based financial system that is too big to fail.

Sincerely,

Rep. Maxine Waters
Chairwoman

Rep. Carolyn Maloney
Chair – Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets

Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay
Chair – Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance

Rep. Al Green
Chair – Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

Rep. Stephen F. Lynch
Chair – Task Force on Financial Technology

I think we won't see Libra coin after all. The US government is really stepping up and wanted to stop at all cost. I don't know what effect it will bring to bitcoin though, could be they will quickly draft a regulations against bitcoin so let's stay tune.
8656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Grand Theft Crypto: The State of Crypto-Stealing Malware & Other Techniques on: July 02, 2019, 09:41:59 PM
The other week there was a company in Belgium that got completely shut down due to another crypto ransomware attack.
I think around 1000 people were technically unemployed for around 7 days or more.

This wasn't the first time something like this hadn't happened, but definitely the most significant attack of its sort.

Just mentioning it because it seems pretty crazy that something like that can happen and have such an impact.

Source: https://www.zdnet.com/article/ransomware-halts-production-for-days-at-major-airplane-parts-manufacturer/

In addition to that, Lake City in Florida paid $500,000 to a hacker/s -  https://www.zdnet.com/article/florida-city-fires-it-employee-after-paying-ransom-demand-last-week/

And then we have a recent Singaporean crypto exchange hack - https://twitter.com/BitrueOfficial/status/1144066874147131392

So those criminals are really stepping up the game and we are still in the middle of the year. So everyone should be very careful not to click any links so that you won't be victimised by this hackers.

It's already July so I'm sure a lot of you are really very excited to see the fight and so is the publicity and trash talking.

Quote
BoxingScene.com: Is he a guy style-wise that you can not only win against, but get out of there and look impressive against?

Keith Thurman: Of course we want to look good defeating Manny Pacquiao. The less credit he gets the more credit I get. The more credit he gets the less credit I get. It’s a real fight. We’re fighting for status. We’re fighting for history. We’re fighting for legacy. We’re fighting for world titles. And I want to make a statement. So I believe that with my ring knowledge and the way that I’ve boxed throughout the years, I just believe that Manny Pacquiao’s style was never a good style against my style. And I plan on proving that and just going toe to toe and testing him, man to man. I really don’t think that Manny Pacquiao is going to take my talent. I am looking for a KO. We’ll see if he can survive.

https://www.boxingscene.com/thurman-im-looking-ko-well-see-if-pacquiao-survive--140508

The more he open his mouth, the more people are betting against him, Lol. Looking for a KO? that is he Manny will give him that opportunity, Manny's defense is under-rated because we seen his only side of offensive firepower. However, I think Manny is very smart fighter specially his defense as well, he can defend and then at the same time throw that left.

8660  Economy / Service Discussion / CFTC grants ErisX as DCO on: July 02, 2019, 07:40:58 AM
CFTC grants another approval of Monday:

https://cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressReleases/7954-19

Quote
Washington, DC —The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC or Commission) announced today that the Commission voted unanimously to issue an order granting Eris Clearing, LLC (Eris) registration as a derivatives clearing organization (DCO) under the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA).

Under the DCO order, Eris will be authorized to provide clearing services for fully-collateralized virtual currency futures.  Eris’ indirect parent company, Eris Exchange, LLC, is registered with the CFTC as a designated contract market.

The terms and conditions of the order require, among other things, that Eris comply with applicable provisions of the CEA, including the core principles in Section 5b of the CEA and with CFTC regulations.  Eris also must fulfill each of the representations it has made to the Commission relating to compliance with the core principles and CFTC regulations.

In response to a request from Eris, the CFTC’s Division of Clearing and Risk also today issued a letter granting Eris no-action relief from complying with certain CFTC regulations due to Eris’ fully-collateralized clearing model.

So last week it was Ledger X and now ErisX, it looks like we might see a lot of physical bitcoin futures contracts in the market being offered now. But the big buzz is around Bakkt approval and offering though, so we don't know the chances but it really looks very positive at this point. Let us wait if they will finally get their approval.
