You'd probably have more luck if you posted this here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

Are you concluding that because Theymos, Maged, and Johnthedong are all included in the transaction? Paraipan's not a mod and he's included too. The odd part is one of pirates old addresses is in there.

The complexity that you see and admire I see as a web of deceit spun to lull the population into a position of complacency. I am fairly well off and really want for nothing. I could drive down the street stopping at traffic lights and roll up my window when a homeless person walks by with a sign but instead I give him a few bucks. I wonder how many homeless we could feed with just one less aircraft carrier. I drive from Oakland to San Leandro and see the horrible poverty and wonder why we can't change it. Then I turn on the TV and see reports of the masses of money that my government wastes. I watched WAMU, Wachovia, Merill Lynch, IndyMac and many more go bankrupt from greed and mismanagement. The government makes sweetheart deals with company's like Chase to take over the failed branches, wipes out the mortgage debt, bails out the auto makers all using my wallet. I read about organizations like the CIA that have secret budgets and new agencies like DHS that are set on controlling the masses. All these things add up to a far less than magical system that desperately needs to change. The Occupy Movement is made up of people that see the inequity and mismanagement but they are too few in number to really make a difference. These problems are happening worldwide too.

Bitcoin might not be the solution but it's a place to start. Bitcoin can't feed the homeless but it might be able to take funding away from greedy banks and corrupt governments. I'm sick of my government telling me what to do when they clearly don't know what they're doing. I intend to support Bitcoin as long as it remains a system powered by individuals free from government abuse and control. They're going to attack Bitcoin. What lies around the corner is a very rough road but a survivable one.

That's it for me. I'm done. I just flushed all my dollar bills down the toilet because I found out that murder for hire, prostitution and drugs are purchased with dollars more than any other currency. I won't be a part of the dollar system any more!

Isn't that what I just said?

I think we were writing at the same time. I didn't see your post.

oic

Canton's wallet is fine but is too troublesome for quick use. Better for long term storage.

I think this question suffers from the XY problem (http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/66377/what-is-the-xy-problem). If you are attempting to physically transfer a set of Bitcoins, then you can simply sell a paper wallet to someone. I'd highly recommend Canton's paper wallet: https://bitcoinpaperwallet.com/

Isn't that what I just said?

On a piece of paper. You just need to know how much you want to transfer before you leave home and the party you give it to needs to trust you.

So what's your point?

First tell me how you watched a four and a half minute video in less than three minutes.

 Grin

Never made past the first minute. Many startups fail. Welcome to the business world.

This is not good or bad news.
....

They have a session on usage of virtual currencies for illicit activities presented by an ex CIA and FBI run special forces type branch of the worlds biggest news source followed by a presentation of specific examples of those illicit activities by an ex CIA and FBI run, US government funded organization of child trafficking and extortion that's exempt from reporting its accounts and has a reputation for fudging its statistics. How exactly is this not bad news?

It's bad news for the English Commonwealth and the Crowns former colonies maybe. The rest of the world I'm sure couldn't give a shit.

Most of the world follows the herd and does what its told and one of the few things that gets it worked up is child abuse. If the honeypot sites on TOR have borne fruit and given routers a "Bitcoin equals child abuse" headline to pump to the media outlets then the world will give a shit overnight. Why would a world banking presentation be sponsored by the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children? I doubt it's to let parents know they can use the blockchain to keep track of how juniors spending his pocket money online.

Again, that's a western mentality. Ever been to Thailand, Vietnam or Russia? I do agree the sponsor is highly suspect but don't see it's reach being as broad as you do.

8695  Other / Meta / Re: Multiple accounts allowed? on: June 13, 2013, 07:05:58 AM
theres no reason for alt accounts other then scamming, bad rule IMO

There's shitloads of reasons for alts. For instance a member that owns a business would want to do official business related stuff via an alt just for that purpose and have a regular account for talking freely. Lots of people here and elsewhere do that. (Of course Josh/Inaba fucked that whole thing up so royally so it kinda has some undeserved bad reputation)
Yup. We get a ton of private whitelist requests for this purpose.

Bitcoin100 and Phinnaeus Gage is the perfect example of this. Bruno screws around constantly as Phinnaeus Gage but when he used to post as Bitcoin100 he was always professional - well, professional for him.

I've had some great fun along time ago screwing with Matthew by arguing with him and then turning around and siding with him as someone else. Then at the last minute I would get both accounts revved up against him. LOL

"As of May 7th, 2013, 4 PM EST, a total of 11.1 million bit coins had been issued and were valued at USD 107 each. On May 7th, 2013 there were a total of 56,065 transactions using BitCoin and the market cap of entities associated with BitCoin was USD 1.2 billion.

Virtual Currencies have also spawned an ecosystem to facilitate its use for commerce – (i) there are payment processors that facilitate the acceptance of these; (ii) exchanges which facilitate trading other real-world currencies for virtual currencies and also perhaps in future trading various virtual currencies as well; (iii) digital wallet providers which facilitate holding of virtual currencies safely and using them for payment transactions; (iv) ATMs which allow withdrawal in real-world currency in cash by exchanging virtual currency units; and, (v) dedicated websites related to tracking trends in virtual currency and also as an online directory.

These schemes needless to say create a number of concerns for regulators and law enforcement authorities. Firstly, they circumvent the authority of the central banks and monetary authorities to control money supply and could hence potentially impact financial stability. Secondly, these pose concerns related to money laundering and financing of terrorism because of their anonymity and easy use for cross-border transactions. These however could also be an extremely efficient way for certain kinds of payments notably low-value payments."

Sounds like they are on the fence between bad and good. Like all bureaucrats, they are probably going to see some potential but be afraid to speak out in favor of Bit-Coinz for fear of making their bosses (Big Banks) or constituents (Tax Authorities like the IRS) angry.
