Yeah, they usually don't get into the nerd games us guys play. They also tend not to get too involved in flame wars.

Maybe women should run the world.  Grin

Amy Woodward should know the answer to this.  she's the one working on the boxes.  maybe pm her?

Thanks cypherdoc! Can you please tell me what Amy uses for a BTC Forum name while here?

guess?

Amy Woodward.

Hah! Too easy! Doesn't she know we're all supposed to be cool & cryptic online?  Grin

hey, she's a woman, what do you expect?  Wink
8685  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast Miner Protection Program Discussion on: August 15, 2013, 09:06:56 PM
4X hash power is great - but there is a hidden problem with it.

Most casual miners won't be willing to make the sacrifices to have the electrical capacity to handle the additional chips.  Take your own purchases for example.  You say you ordered 8 Baby-jets.  If each Baby-jet optimistically consumes 250W for a 1 chip solution, then you are currently at 2KW, best case scenario.

Lets say hash rate is insane and you get the full 3 additional chips per baby-jet.  You are looking at 8KWs. You are going to need to have four 20A lines to safely consume 8KW of mining.  I believe most houses have 100A circuit to the main in their electrical panel.  You now have 20A capacity for the rest of your house.  Good thing you didn't buy 10 Baby-Jets or you wouldn't have anything else electrical you would want to run.

And these are the optimistic numbers at 250W.  Web page says +-20% from 350W.

The most logical step would be to sell the additional capacity off that you can't use, but since HF hasn't committed to providing hashpower in a usable form, selling the exrta may prove difficulty.

Feel free to poke holes in this line of thinking.

Maybe I should have been called "AsicPessimist" or something  Cool

no, no, all real good points.  i would say the following.

as you said, there is always going to be secondary market for chips so at minimum they could be sold for profit.  second, some of us miners, like me, are nutso and will gladly install another outlet to handle the extra demand.  i installed a separate 240V breaker box with a dedicated line over at my office just for my avalons.  but i admit, i'm not necessarily like everyone else.  finally, there are always data centers.

the overarching way i look at this is that the price of BTC is going up.  way up.  i want to diversify and get a hold of as many BTC as fast as i can before that happens.  i've bought my share on the open market and now i'm ready to mine for more by getting in on the ground floor of a new era in asic mining.  i think the HR graph is going to level off sometime soon and that there is going to be a shakeout in the # of companies.  my plan is to help HF be one of the winners in that scenario.  if i can maneuver myself into a small but significant part of the asic market and make money mining i will.  if not, i'll do it anyways to help the network.
8686  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast Store is Live! on: August 15, 2013, 08:39:24 PM
The HashFast store is live and we have roughly 300 Baby Jets left.

If you have 300 left, it's still time to take a group picture!
I can't wait seeing all those cuties piled up.  Smiley

to be fair, KNC is still selling units in all categories, yet fail to list the # left in stock.  so by your measure, since they haven't sold out yet and they've been selling since June, they're much worse off.  Tongue

Hi HashFast,

I asked Simon these questions in the other thread but it got buried in mud.  Roll Eyes

Can you please answer these questions?

1. Is this rackmountable? (Major mistake IMO if not, but what do I know I've only worked on designing/installing prototype IT hardware for about 10 years)
2. If it's a Tower Form Factor: is this a Mid Tower or a Full Tower?

Group buy co-ordinators need this info for hosting quotes. Mahalo!

Amy Woodward should know the answer to this.  she's the one working on the boxes.  maybe pm her?
8689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Have you ordered your HashFast Baby Jet yet? on: August 15, 2013, 07:43:41 PM
Well I held off on pre order on BFL and I did pre ordered avalon, so far I made the right call and now I have a pre ordered for some baby jets.

you and me both.  i thank gaud everyday about having made it thru the Avalon gauntlet, ie, Batch 2, unscathed.  my 3 units have worked perfectly too as an added bonus.  i too had the good sense (luck?) to cancel not only a BFL but bASIC units as soon as i detected problems.

this lame brain theory by Bitcoinorama that we have this contractual obligation via cc's to cut off our balls and hand them over to red flagged companies is insane.

so i guess i'm coming at this from a totally different perspective than the burnt ones here.
8690  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast Store is Live! on: August 15, 2013, 07:35:43 PM
hey, John is a good guy.  i've gotten to know him a bit better over the last 2 wks and he is a hard worker.  he was up maybe 24 hrs straight the other nite trying to get orders through and deal with the cart.

he's a bit new in the Bitcoin World so i'm trying to bring him up to speed on the "intensity" of what we're doing here.  he's learning real fast.  give him a break; he's no Inaba.

this place is bonkers.
8691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 15, 2013, 07:28:32 PM
Bitfury sucks are you on crack. It will be just as worthless as these units. The only company to order from would be xcrowd who will offer you a gaurantee up to a certain difficulty and provide much more hashing power. Or cointerra which their high hashing power might be a guarantee for delays.

Those are the only logical options. Cointerra seems it will be the winner if they keep their promise of long term mining equipment it means they will offer some serious hashing power for much cheaper which will make other manufacterers cut pricing.

And which will effectively kill avalon and bfls shit businesses.

i agree that Cointerra is the one i'm watching out for.  however, once again, they are 2 mo behind HashFast which is an eternity in this business.
8692  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast Store is Live! on: August 15, 2013, 07:20:59 PM
i'm going to do my part to decentralize the network whether it kills me or not!
8693  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Have you ordered your HashFast Baby Jet yet? on: August 15, 2013, 07:14:35 PM
well, i still have my 8 orders in.  of course.

one day, one of these companies is going to make it thru the pre-order gauntlet in good shape and then go on to do great things in terms of being able to produce a money making machine at their own expense just so everyone who buys it can make guaranteed money.  sounds like a paradox, eh?  it is, b/c then why sell them?

anyways, that is what everyone around here in Bitcoin Asic World seems to think is going to happen.  i really don't think so.  which is why i don't mind the pre-order scenario given that i believe i have done my due diligence.  no risk, no gain.

i want to be involved in asic mining.  but that's just me. we'll see.

S3052,

it's true that the way i handle this thread is completely different than the way you handle your thread.

you use yours to advertise and actively promote market discussion, which is also a way to advertise, with those who wish to do so.  i purposely shut off all those types of activities b/c i wanted my content to be exclusive to my subs.

this thread is purely a notification system.
8695  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast Miner Protection Program Discussion on: August 15, 2013, 06:05:59 PM
I get the general idea, but after running the implementation of it in my own mind there are too questions.

Is ROI based on USD exchange rate? Or are we talking about returning the BTC that was paid. It seems to me they are betting on a very stable BTC/USD exchange rate.

If it is based on ROI to USD, what if BTC prices drop to 10$, do they still guarantee ROI in 90 days? Or is ROI based on returning the original BTC paid. If its based on BTC, what if USD/BTC ratewent to $1000, will they still guarantee we ROI on original BTC paid?

don't forget the max of 4x.

those are good questions, the answers of which i don't have.  if i were you, i wouldn't hesitate to pin them down on this.  i'm with you in the sense i have 8 Babyjets on order.
8696  Economy / Speculation / Re: Financial Risk Analytics-Subscription Service on: August 15, 2013, 06:00:57 PM
hi.

I reported you to a moderator using the "Report to Moderator" link some time ago. Probably late June/ early July.
Didn't like coming to speculation to see a thread with nothing inherently useful for speculation.
Just so you know its not only your competitor that dislikes your practices - its your potential customers.

Back to minding my own business. Thanks.

I will try to find a solution with cypherdoc and asked him to have a call with me. Because you are right, this daily bumping creates awareness for new potential customers (even if some people including me hate it as it woes not add value). Hence, it would be good to find an agreement to ideally limit posts that have no real content.

at times, in the past, i might send out anywhere from 4-7 or so short updates to subs with bumps.  i've throttled that back to once per day bumps, even with the multiple updates, at the instruction of BadBear.  you're saying that that's still too much?
8697  Economy / Speculation / Re: Financial Risk Analytics-Subscription Service on: August 15, 2013, 05:58:42 PM
@Vokain: if you'll notice if you look carefully, i'm trying to publish when there is something significant to say, not just multiple times daily b/c that was what i was doing in the past.  this takes the pressure off and makes it more pleasurable.  you of all ppl, know just how busy i am.  also as a result of the new pricing @ 1BTC/mo, i now have someone who prepaid a year out to July 2014 so it looks like i'm not going anywhere. Grin

Yes! Nothing should be more important than the utmost priority for your job, you have a primary career that demands that. What I mean to say, I've been subscribed for long enough to follow everything you publish, but I suppose if someone new wanted to join they'd likely be turned off without the same foundational understanding you were more likely to pass off when I was first subscribed in October..I just talked to a person that thought so is all.

understood.

but i'm assuming most of that foundational understanding you're referring to is fundamental.  i don't know how to keep on repeating all that stuff all the time for new subs.  i've written tomes on that within the threads which is readily available and have been wrongly assuming new subs have accessed that.

as you know, i like keeping it short, sweet, and conversational. that's how it's become more manageable for me. that has it's advantages as well.
8698  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast Miner Protection Program Discussion on: August 15, 2013, 05:45:43 PM
Has there been anymore detail on how this plan would be implemented? How are you tracking ROI for each user? Or would this be done at some high level way? If so please publish formula or criteria used.
.

i just went back and reviewed Eduardo's post about the MPP.  i actually think he didn't word it quite as clearly as he could have.

the 4x number that he wrote actually represents 4x the original hashing power as a maximum which they will give to you for free to bring you back to a complete payoff of your equipment if you haven't done so by 3 mo after delivery.

in other words, if you purchased 500GH originally, then a maximum of 2000GH in the form of chips will be offered to you. there are 2 steps, a 2x and a 4x level.  they claim the ROI is determinable by the growth of the network HR, your original HR power, and assuming 24/7 mining beginning on the date of delivery and immediate deployment.

remember, i am not part of the company and am in no way in control of what they ultimately do.  this is however, exactly how i've seen it written and represents my understanding of how the program works.

I just wanted to report back(Even though most of you are ass holes) That I just got a Reply back from Knc that they are processing my Refund..

Thank you Knc...

Good luck to the rest of you Suckers......

At least you could get a refund from them, that in my book is light years ahead of BFL and Avalon's practices.

they gave me a refund too.  but they did ask questions, which imo is related to the new reseller programs and decreased Nov pricing.

How long did it take you to get a reply I sent them an email yesterday. These units are pretty much going to be doa since most likely they will ship by end of september due to KNCs wording in the  upcomming weeks. All orders placed now will ship in October meaning full shipping will commence sometime right before October. Even if you get them mid September you can make some money just not worth it really.

Best thing to do is wait for the price/roi wars to start between manufacterers.

What other ASIC manufacturers are stating deliveries in October and how likely is it that they will do it?

HashFast.  we'll see.
