500 for you guys that mined it before it was anywhere

45 for anyone now or in the future

Yea, great way to garner new interest in your project (if you can call it that)

We have mined very few coins. Most of the early adopters and miners from the 500 era dumped their shares onto the open market. That's one of the reasons the price is so unbelievably low at this point.

Don't take this as me being a dick, because I'm totally 100% neutral on caring whether this one succeeds or fails. I'm just saying that as an outside observer, if I were someone who was about to invest into crypto currencies, I would definitely do my homework and research before blindly throwing money at something. The history of this coin is just too tainted to garner any  real, worthwhile investors.

Again, not trying to be a dick so don't take this as an attack, it's purely outside observation. I have no idea what you guys are doing or plan to do, I'm just telling you that the most readily available information makes this look shady as fuck compared to other coins I can put my money into just as easily

I don't take this as you being a $ick. Your time and input are highly valued.

Best thing you could do, in my opinion, is go back to the 500 GLD block rewards, and start the natural process of lowering it back to 49 in increments.

Obviously, this would most likely not work at this point and just further dilute the per coin price, but going from 500 to 49 in one jump looks greedy as shit. If you had gone like 500, 250, 150, 100, 49, you would be a lot better off. Or even 500, 400, 300, 200, 100, 49

Don't blame it on the code. You didn't need to reduce it like 90% just to fix the code from generating coins for infinity. You could have just as easily raised the lifetime cap

Right now it just looks like a money grab

you simply changed everything and the most important thing (block reward), and you try to convince new comers to buy into your coin in every possible way, and your argument is that the coin name has Gold in it, this is why people have to invest ? this is why it will over take Bitcoin and Litecoin ?

Yes. It's because of the name not because of anything that I have done.

There are a lot of really really smart people here mostly coders and techies looking at the forest and missing the trees. Yes, we need tight code and innovative ideas to have a stable currency and infrastructure. But in all truth the consumer does not care about any of these things. If it's cool and useful that is most important.

If the name is already ingrained in their DNA and it's cool and useful it becomes unstoppable.

The fact that you guys reduced the block reward by like 90% shows that it's just a money grab peep show at this point

8706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Silver to bitcoin's gold" on: September 10, 2013, 09:32:27 PM
When people say Bitcoin's gold to Litecoin's silver, Its more like Bitcoin's Dollar to Litecoin's Quarter, but people don't like to associate cryptos with fiat, so the analogy became a way to say that Litecoin will be Bitcoin's partner.

Truth

i take it the insane difficulty is as a  result of a visit by large hash power?

It readjusts very quickly, so if there was a botnet or something on it, it will go back down as soon as they bounce, but maybe I missed the spike. What difficulty did you see? This is what it is right now:

Less then 24 hours left. Remember even just 5 HBNs will get your name in the hat for a BE. Top giver is assured one.

Time is almost up!!!

What's the highest right now?

So 7,000 MH/s wouldn't mine much CPR at all is what you are telling me?

-Adeel

Do you mean Kh/s? Because it would definitely be worth it for 7,000 Mh/s. Otherwise, 7,000 Kh/s would get you around 3 to 4 CPR a day at the current difficulty, but it's slow creeping up. Still worth to mine for a couple day with your hashrate. I'm mining, even though I only get 900~1100 Kh/s

It's not the difficulty going up, it's the GPU hasrate efficiency going down, like scrypt-jane is designed to do
