The OP kind of reminds me of one of those HR questions that nobody answers with sincerity, although on a professional ground it is easier to envision one’s hopes for himself five years down the road (at least, at certaing ages, whilst one is still hungry for climbing the ropes, and before finding that it’s pretty much more like a game of snakes and ladders). In the crypto context, I figure that, for the most, it is a lateral hobby and not a main driver in live (with obvious exceptions), and as such, setting roadmaps to obtain knowledge (as opposed to a financial gain) is pretty much far from what the average Joe will do. It’s likely more of an exploratory ground, where one will go at his own pace and time, bearing to the fact that live goes on and, as such, will command the main thrive and needs, leaving leisure to be what it is, with no real need for goals and roadmaps. In retrospect, going back 2,5 years (to become a virtual Newbie), I recall hearing the buzz and fuzz on the media, and exploring (a very small portion of) just what all this was about. No compass to wade the uncharted muddy waters. No plans (some halfwit hopes though).

We'll see ...

Merit Sources are not confined to a specific board, so any board may be merited as a result of their forum surfing interests/habits. Local boards are pretty heterogeneous: - A few have a large amount of awarded sMerits, but also many posters. - Others have a reasonable amount of sMerits for the amount of posters, and the better posters are normally spotted there. - About half of the local boards are pretty inactive, and lack a Merit Source acting there. Normally if a board (any) is considered undermerited, the best way to draw attention to it would be to report some details specifics in a thread (such as this one). By specifics I mean something in the line of: a) Providing some numbers on the number of posts (quantitative). b) Providing some numbers on the number of merits awarded there (quantitative). c) Providing a "lengthly" list of posts that are unmerited/undermerited there (subjective quality). The former two can be derived in multiple ways (for example using the Merit Dashboard). The latter requires more time to compile, but with the above you can make a concrete case that draws attention to the situation with specifics.

They are not illegal, but you also have to make sure that the one you are interested in is legit. After all, they are going to trade on your behalf and use an exchange API to access your account, so you need to assess pretty well the reputation of the trading bot, and consider just how much you are willing to let it manage (that is to say, the amount you can expose). It would be nice if others with hands-on experience could bear their testimony here. Unfortunately, I am not in that situation, but a couple of years ago I did take some time to look into them. Bearing no relation to it whatsoever, and without intending to vouch for it, I did find it interesting to read through a thread here on the forum at the time: [GUNBOT] Trading Bot with 136 exchanges available. Even if you are not interested in that particular software, reading through the thread and the wiki is pretty interesting, and let’s you get a view on what this sort of software can do (you’ll also need to figure out what it can’t and the associated risks). Just don’t assume that it’s plug and play, click, and get rich. The algoritms need to be selected and parametrized according to your needs, and sudden market sways may not be played well if parameters are not thought through.

I think I’ve only been hit one or twice trying to ask for merits in a subtle way (as opposed to being direct). Obviously I read through and ignored these messages, but these sort of actions will likely have the opposite effect, and get the person added to an ignore list (or even reported for unsolicited PMs, although a single stray non-batched message may not qualify as spam).
Ignoring messages from Newbies probably goes a long way in reducing messages of the kind (although it does not apply to Newbie Copper Members, who can bypass this setting).
On the whole, anyone who PMs(*) others asking for merits is not really going to make it that far up the ranking ladder. (*)Some exceptions may apply (i.e. some people may ask to be PMd by someone, in order to be reminded of a sort of merit commited"debt").

Date_l seems to be wrong, as it is not indicating the campaign exit date (or last Friday’s date/ or null), but rather a week after date_f (campaign participant aprox. first date). Additionally, the format in the spaced code is difficult to work with. Ideally a simple csv with the data would go a long way (or google spread sheet or single space between columns in a code block). Edit: <…>
Without the proper participation end date per profile, Im' afraid we can’t really derive a consistent set of information to compare the before/during/after merit intervals. If at some point you still want to pursue this data, I’ll need the real end date.

<…> For the retrospective stats (as you requested), I guess DdmrDdmr can help. It is a complicated request. I’m a bit short of time now, but if you provide me with a list of participants, I can do it pretty easily. I would need something like: [AccountDateRegistered], [userId] and/or [username] , CMJoinDate, CMEndDate
CMJoinDate would be the date when the participant joined the campaign. CMEndDate would be the date when the participant exited the campaign (or blank). Of course, that would only lead to the display of (Merit) numbers for the periods before/during/after (when applicable), but for comparison reasons, we’d need to compare to something like posts or days (/week/month). Posts is not easy to derive for the three potential periods of time (before/during/after), so the next best would be days (or a cumulative time period). For that, we’d also need the [Date Registered dd/mm/yyyy] field. The above would allow for the derivation of merit/day(or week or month) for all participants, before, during and after joining the campaign (when applicable). <...>
Ok, my offer still stands for whenever (subject to getting a list as described above).

It’s been on the table to discuss a couple of times. Last I recall was on this thread: Most time online list, is it a bug? . To me it looked like bot accounts that are active 24/7 (using multiple simultaneous access).

<…> 2. One of the downsides of crypto is that a corrupt politician can loot money and transfer the money to his bitcoin wallet and it'll become anonymous. So, it can be employed for money laundering without trace.
It’s not that simple, and he’d still need to know pretty well the ropes to be sure that it could not, at any point, be linked back to it. Even so, millions and millions worth have been stolen and moved around by corrupt governors so far, without leaving a trace, through fiat and gold, using diplotatic bags or whatnot, so it’s not like a (traceable and semi-anonymous) blockchain based solution would necessarily deem a better solution for them.

<...>But what with an iPhone? I don't use it but I think that people who have an iPhone can't install apps from any source other than the AppStore.
There are alternative sites from which you can download apps on IOs if you jailbreak the device (which I would not do). Sites like GetJar, Appland, and before Cydia (now closed I believe) give you access to a range of alternatives Apps. Nevertheless, I personally find that the IOs app ecosystem (*) is less deceived than the Android one, and therefore would not venture to opening any risky doors for an app of any kind. (*) Late email vulnerability is another issue altogether.
