8701  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you decide when it's time to sell? on: August 28, 2017, 07:48:13 AM
Nobody wants to be monitoring the prices all day with the cursor on the sell button just waiting to click the mouse, so how do you decide when to sell?

If you set up an open order with a low target price, you'll be disappointed when the price climbs well above your target price.
If you set up an open order with too high a price, you might not sell at all.

What's your strategy?

the strategy I use is I buy an altcoin and put a price on the buy wall as well as when I sell the coins I have I choose to sell them under a sell wall. or I sell my coins with a profit of about 10-25%.
It's a very good coin selling strategy, selling at 10 -25% profit is a very rational advantage and the profit that can be good. Especially if the price of a coin can double from the price
Αs I don't have a lot to invest, 10% profit will never make a difference for me. I buy a coin that I want to trade and set a price which is nearly twice as big. This doesn't work always but in general it is possible. However, I guess the biggest wins of mine are still related to long-term investments (sold eth for $300 and still hold ltc bought for $20). It is great that exchangers offer us to set any price we feel like setting and we can just the the order under 'good till cancelled' conditions.
8702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BLOCKNET to the moon , 50 $ or 100 $ ? on: August 27, 2017, 07:01:52 AM

BLOCKNET to the moon , 50 $ or 100 $  fake
Well, I dunno 'bout that. It's already worth $30, so I kind of regret I haven't bought it when the price was $4! Yet it's strange nobody stated what this magic technology is about. It is a simplification of bitcoin, it is quite like dash in anonymity, it offers some benefits for developers. I see nothing special here, no innovative projects here. I think it is just pumped by some investors and will eventually die after all this obsession.
8703  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we need blockchain technology? on: August 27, 2017, 06:48:27 AM
Of course we need blockchain technology.
I really do not know much about coding, but the blockchain technology is something that makes storing information safer and protects it from being altered.
That is something very important in the IT business.
Many businesses try options to use this technology for their purposes, sooner or later we  will see it in many forms in our every day life.

For me, without the Blockchain, there will be no digital currency. Blockchain prevents the double spending. If we will be putting bitcoin without the BLock chain, there will be a lot of people not using bitcoin maybe no one because it will be just double spent. Also, there are a lot of new technologies that making use of this Block chain, I think it will be really cool.
Everyone keeps writing about blockchain and how important it is. I agree that without blockchain our world of cryptos would have probably never appeared. And yet is this technology really essential for any kind of cryptocurrency? I don't think so. I mean, just take a look at IOTA project. I don't know whether it is awesome but we can say for sure that it is an attempt to make something absolutely different. It is built on graphs, not chains of blocks. Graphs aren't really new to the world, they are used in logistics, for example. I believe iota is or soon will be able to show that cryptocurrencies can really be made in different ways.
8704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying altcoins with ? on: August 27, 2017, 06:24:20 AM
so u have bitcoin right now??? ok now deposit to some exchange like bittrex or poloniex then trade
Unfortunately, bittrex is not really operating as I thought is was. You can surely put altcoins on your bittrex balance but that won't help much, because if you'd like to use this money to buy other coins, you can't buy, say, lisk for monero. You have to sell monero for btc and then buy lisk with this btc. Are there good exchangers without this inconvenience? It takes time and effort to turn any currency in btc before using it again. I think it shouldn't be this way.
8705  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEGWIT, where are the lower fees? on: August 27, 2017, 06:15:11 AM
snip
SegWit wasn't fully activated until yesterday, so that time you payed the lower fee was during a time of less transaction traffic.
But if Segwit is activated now, is there any way to become a part of this upgrade? Do I have to do something for it to happen? Or will blockchain.info make transactions have segwit automatically? Can anyone help me with this?
I still see the spam problem and nobody was able to explain it to me yet.
If a majority of the transactions we see at the moment are spam, and segwit needs to be activated by the user, how will segwit help to decrease the mempool?
The guys who make the spam transactions will simply not activate segwit.
Or have I missed something?
I'm sorry, I haven't found any sufficient explanation of this problem in this thread. What is it about? Why are you saying that most transactions are actually spam?
8706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Potential 100% increase for September?? on: August 25, 2017, 09:18:12 AM
If you had put those 5 BTCs into LISK a few weeks ago it would have been worth 10 BTC today! It is still pumping as it is going to be rebranded in September so jump in now before the September rebranding causes it do another pump.
Okay, lisk has pumped, but is there sufficient evidence of it going up in the future? What is this coin about anyway? It is built on blockchain technology, so nothing innovative here. Lisk does decentralized apps but is it enough? There are other coins doing the same thing like vslice. Perhaps it does have minor improvements like code simplifications but I don't think that's what will guarantee the pump.
8707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the END of BCH on: August 25, 2017, 08:49:17 AM
BCH was born like something speculative and price will be very volatile. But in November BTC price will go down and where goes money we shall see, part of it will go to BCH.
I agree bch is very speculative, it was built on ideas and hope rather than real need of people. But why are you so sure about btc price going down in November? Is there some specific technical issue that will result in such a thing?
As for the tweet, I think such mining opportunities might create even bigger demand of bch, so it might not affect the price in such a bad way. The idea of losing nothing is very clever though. I mean, if bch becomes not profitable one can always switch to btc fast.
8708  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Launches SegWit, Max Keiser Raises ‘Interim’ Price to $10,000 on: August 25, 2017, 08:35:22 AM
$10,000 looks possible by end of this year if not price will be atleast over $7500. Even after segwit activation we haven't seen any significant dump on market which shows that people are still buying bitcoin at this high price. Last bull run was not fueled by high speculation over segwit and nobody is selling on the actual segwit activation like many have predicted.

Holding all my bitcoins for next round of bull run.....
The price is only getting higher. $10k don't look impossible indeed. But I am thinking whether it is worth to keep btc even more, after it reaches $10000. Where's the limit in price growth? Keeping btc forever won't make any sense, for one has to spend something he/she has. Otherwise having money doesn't make any sense and is actually worth nothing.
8709  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEGWIT, where are the lower fees? on: August 25, 2017, 08:23:26 AM
To decrease the fees, you have to send SegWit transactions.  Basically you need to move your funds to a SegWit-compatible wallet with the new type of address.

The transactions that you send would then be smaller and have lower fees.

If most of the major wallets start using SegWit transactions over the next few weeks, you can expect the blockchain to become less congested, so legacy transactions would cost less as well.

In addition to that, I'm not sure whether you're actually going to see an increase in blocksize, as the witness data is not part of the "official" blocksize anymore. You should however see an increase in transactions per block, once the amount of SegWit transactions increases.
Okay, but how to do the upgrade? At first after segwit I got this feeling that fee was reduced. I sent something which cost $150 at that time, payed something like 70 cents and got transaction confirmed within half an hour. But then about a week ago I wanted to send a small amount of money, worth $10, and had to pay $1 and something for the transaction! I remember that it has always been like that, if you send small sums - you pay more. But this is too much.
If I have a blockchain.info wallet, how can I upgrade to segwit transactions?
8710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: invest still profit? on: August 24, 2017, 09:22:44 AM
hey guys i just wanna know still worth invest in equipment for mine altcoins?

It is not very profitable to invest in mining equipment for altcoins. In most cases, you can buy the alts off the market with less money than the cost of electricity for running the miner. This is not even considering the capital cost for mining equipment.
Exactly. Nowadays it is profitable to trade coins on the market and perhaps long-term investments are still good. Mining.. Well, I guess it is profitable as people don't stop doing that but you have to spend too much time and money on that at first. Trading is cheaper, safer and faster. I mean, mining at least requires about 4 months for you to return the money you spent on equipment. At that time they may already break.
8711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying altcoins with ? on: August 24, 2017, 09:08:38 AM
Can someone please explain if I want to buy crypto-currencies apart from bitcoin is it possible or do I've to first buy bitcoin, transfer it to exchange and then convert it?

I checked bittrex but couldn't find something useful..
I sent some btc to my bittrex balance and then was buying coins for it. However, I am sure you can choose other coins to start. Just login on bittrex and go to the 'wallets' section. There you will see zero balance in btc, eth, ltc and some other coins. I think you can just click to '+' button near the coin you want to start with and send it to your bittrex account. I haven't done it myself but when I push the plus button near any alt I don't have  - it offers me to send the money there.
8712  Economy / Economics / Re: Pump and dump is the name of the game. on: August 24, 2017, 08:53:58 AM
Do not fall for pump and dumps as most ICOs are. You should realize they only want to build hype and after building hype they sell premine and make their money. The #1 sign of pump-and dump is when developer premines tons of coins you know it is a pump and dump.
Sure. But why should one always avoid such things? I mean, there are people who care a lot for the coins they invest into, and they don't buy the coins they think are shitty. These people are investors, they want to help cool projects and gain some profit out of it. And yet there're other people, who buy the coins regardless to their innovation level and stuff like that. They just trade using buy low sell high strategy. As more people are becoming traders, the market is destabilized.  There people have the right to do what they do and they shouldn't stay away from premining.
8713  Economy / Economics / Re: Three reasons to invest in Bitcoin on: August 24, 2017, 08:42:54 AM
Bitcoin is #1 in every important aspect. It is sort of obvious that no matter how high the price is, it is and always will be a great investment. And yet it's just too hard to overcome thoughts that btc was worth a couple of dollars and then when it was worth hundreds, the price already seemed to high to consider in as an investment. My father lives in a poor country and has a $300 salary per month (which is an average salary here). He doesn't invest into altcoins. He earns some btc and spends it but he has 1 btc he just stores for better times. Once it was just $800 but it's already $4k. I realize it's a promising coin and the price might even go up and up again but it's just too hard for me to consider investing it such an expensive coin when there are so many cheap and improved ones.
8714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ㉫ ENJIN COIN [ICO] Ultimate Gaming Currency + Virtual Goods Platform on: August 24, 2017, 08:29:32 AM
The Enjin Coin Presale has started, please view our press release below:

ENJIN COIN Announces Pre-Sale of Gaming Cryptocurrency

I've been watching this quietly, glad to see the pre-sale start.

Will check out the terms, but may have to wait for the token sale if there's a minimum buy for pre-sale.
It is truly great that there are such trusted members as you are who are interested in this project! I've seen a scam accusation thread for enjine but I think it is not fair to call something a scam until it is proved to be so. Enjin is a serious project.
Hi coin@coin, the minimum buy for presale is $1,000 USD. You can find all the contribution levels here:

https://enjincoin.io/contribute/

  • $1,000 - $15,000 USD receives 5% bonus.
  • $15,000 - $50,000 USD receives 15% bonus.
  • $50,000 - $100,000 USD receives 25% bonus.
  • $100,000 - $1,000,000 USD receives 35% bonus.
  • $1,000,000 - $2,000,000 USD receives 40% bonus.
  • Over $2,000,000 USD receives 50% bonus.

Thanks for sharing. I like the various entry levels, there's a bit for every pocket.
Will see what I can do! Smiley
It is surely great that one can invest different amounts. But isn't even the min amount too high? I'm not familiar with other ico min investments but I thought that crowdfunding is something many people can do. I mean, I just supposed the min investment will be something like if one invests in some online casino (which is around 0.01btc).
8715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICOs from China on: August 23, 2017, 08:09:15 AM
The best Chinese coin ever created is NEO. The price is already $35 but I believe in a year it may become ten times as big. Why should you invest is shitty icos that don't even have ann threads if there is such a great and highly supported Chinese projects already? There are too many ICOs and to become an expert you have to know at least most of them. And obviously I don't mean simply knowing that they exist. You have to know what each offers and whether there isn't a coin having the same features yet. It is too hard to get to know this sphere, so I suggest to invest in existing coins.
8716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ripple (XRP) rising? on: August 23, 2017, 08:01:31 AM
who cares it's not decentralized and they work with banks. also supply is too high /s
Your response is contradictory. It is true it's centralized and so banks could have controlled it. But the high supply is actually against the thought that the price can be controlled, for the bigger supply the smaller share one has from the total amount of coins and thus the less difference one bank makes.
Anyway, I think nowadays these ats' pumps make no sense. Monero is rising and there are no news related to it, no specific causes. I guess it just means that more people are interested in top coins and do regular investments in them.
8717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Too many ICO announces on: August 23, 2017, 07:50:26 AM
i don't know anyone who doesn't like money, and i certainly don't know anyone who doesn't like easily earned money. and an ICO is like a free money for the developers. of course there are lots of them, it is the new age of gullibility and everyone wants a piece of the action.

if you want nonICO cryptocurrencies then stick to the good old altcoins instead.

But when i go to altcoins announcments section, its fileld up to 99% with ICOs
I agree with others who mentioned ignoring of the whole section. Why do you go to announcement section if you don't want to see ICOs? I think there is no use in trying to invest in new coins but avoid ICOs. Furthermore, Most of coins are nowadays released via initial coin offering. If you don't like ICOs then invest in the coins while are already released and are stated on coinmarketcap. There are quite new ones appearing there as well. If you want to invest in brand new coins then icos are  unavoidable.
8718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero or LTC on: August 23, 2017, 07:40:56 AM
i will choose LTC, its more stable than Monero
Monero has been stable right until recently. I guess they both are good but for me litecoin is something suitable for a long-term investment whereas monero is just a nice coin one could trade these days with potentially high profit. I also heard that monero is actually innovative and we all no ltc doesn't offer anything btc doesn't have (perhaps only transaction speed and lower fees but it is just a matter of time).
8719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Transaction Fees Comparison on: August 23, 2017, 07:29:21 AM
With blockchain technology the fee varies a lot. Sometimes I pay 70 cents to send btc (regular fee), other times it is more than a dollar. I guess we can't talk about the price but we could still define the fee by a few ways. The first option is to set the approximate fee for all the currencies and then right down that the fee is two times less than that of btc, for instance. Another option is that the fee is actually defined by the block size and stuff like that. There are even fee calculators. Thus we could perhaps write down the fee in percentage or something like that. Unfortunately, nowadays there is no such list.
8720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is a better investment right now, ETH or LTC? on: August 22, 2017, 08:06:49 AM
LTC is growing up because people are really believing oldest existing coin and also some new dev team like lee joined from Coinbase to LTC. Its all about speculation for LTC. Ethereum getting price increase because of its ability create smart contract . You can keep eye on Ehtereum and waves will do better in future.

There is not much innovation in LTC. Even the SegWit is a copy from BTC. People are not even using it.
I believe it is inappropriate to put it like this, because even though the idea of segwit must have occurred with relation to bitcoin, it was implemented in litecoin first. I think litecoin is a good long-term investment even if it doesn't offer innovations.
I think eth is too expensive now. Besides, it has an upcoming problem of an extreme need to switch to proof of stake. Thus, it is less risky to invest into ltc.
