Yes it will require red tape unless you plan to buy enriched uranium or weapons grade plutonium from some illegal arms dealer. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) The natural istope of thorium isn't fissionable. It is however "fertile" which means it can by neutron capture become an unstable fissionable isotope. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fen%2Fmath%2Fa%2F7%2F2%2Fa7227e053c9106bd116944879c82ef48.png&t=663&c=P_oqVh4WuySMvQ) The Th-232 is easy to acquire. Just dig some out of the ground. You don't even need enrichment. The "n" in the equation is deceptively simple but the cross section of an atom is very small so most neutrons simply "miss" and you need a LOT of neutrons (like quadrillions per second) and the only source which is sustainable and cost effective is enriched uranium or plutonium. A thorium reactor doesn't fission thorium. It "builds" uranium (which it fissions very similar to a uranium thermal reactor) from Thorium as needed in real time. However it needs a critical mass of uranium/plutonium to act as a "spark plug" and produce enough "n" in the equation above to produce a sustainable chain reaction. That fissionable critical mass produces enough neutrons to convert some small % of the Thorium fuel to Uranium and those Uranium converts more of the Thorium to Uranium. So once "started" the reactor is self sustaining but you need that "spark plug". Without it you simply have a cold inert reactor. Honestly Thorium reactors are the only nuclear power which makes any sense. The waste is less toxic, has shorter half lives, and proliferation resistant (waste is "contaminated with a high % of U232). The fuel is cheaper, more abundant, and doesn't require expensive (and polluting) enrichment. The fuel cycle is more efficient which means less mining is necessary per unit of energy. The reactors are safer, requires less refueling, and suffers less neutron embrittlement. The fuel also has some nice physical properties, higher melting point, non-oxodizing, and better thermal conductivity, which make it safer in an "loss of coolant accident". So given all that why did we use a uranium fuel cycle .... Simple, you can't build bombs with thorium. The sad thing is the uranium legacy was for nothing. After the DOD co-opted the DOE nuclear program and steered (forced ?) development away from Thorium and towards weapon friendly Uanium it become obvious that power reactors would never be able to produce the quantity of weapons grade material necessary. So we built dedicated "bomb reactors" optimized for the production of weapons grade plutonium. The rest of the world copied the US model since the R&D, designs, and expertise already existed and Thorium being theoretical and untested got sidelined for 60 years.

I severely doubt this is any safer from the meltdown problem than other designs.
Since the "primer source" is nothing but some highly radioactive material all that has to happen for a meltdown scenario is that the mechanism regulating the link between it and the reactor to lock up. It's exactly the same problem.
True although stopping active fission is relatively easy. The harder to solve problem is decay heat. Modern reactor designs employ passively safe measures which are designed to keep reactor cool (dissipate decay heat) without the need for pumps and/or electrical power.

However many King RealScam decide it is and even that isn't stable because he has complete centralized control over the network and can force any change he wants (which he has done at least a half dozen times).
Of course that "answer" assumes you are asking about the coins sent to the miners not the royal king's tax or the coins minted out of thin air without any hashing which go to the royal wallet (CDF).

LOLZ. The tech isn't the problem. The red tape would strangle your kickstarter project in it's craddle.
Hell approval for construction of the next conventional nuclear reactor has taken .... 17.5 years and final approval hasn't even been given yet. The company has broken ground but if final approval is denied or delayed another decade they are just building a multi-billion foundation for nothing. Well maybe they can use it for the first exahash bitcoin farm in 2042.
Just to put this into perspective this is an existing nuclear utility with 40 years experience building a modern safe reactor (AP1000 over a dozen under construction in China) which is an evolutionary upgrade from an existing designs (with millions of operating hours and no serious events) at an existing nuclear power site (which already has two operating reactors and was originally approved to have eight). Throw in the fact that the utility, the powerplant and the new reactor proposal has nearly unanimous support of the local community. That ultra-conservative baby step has taken almost two decades.

A custom bitcoin price generator would be a useful addition.
User puts in a price of say $20.00 and it generates an image (png) of the price in BTC based on current exchange rate which updates in realtime. A more complex version (down the road) could provide options (1 hour volume weighted price vs spot price, a floating % based on volatility in last 24 hours, etc).

Sure, but being stable doesn't mean being frozen. A steady uptrend is more desirable than these bumps. Have it at 5 and 2 months later at 7, 2 months later 9, etc, is normal and good, but have it going up 100%+ in one month, knowing it will be "corrected" shortly after, isn't. Merchants may be now selling their wares for 10 BTC (130 USD) and restock next month with BTC @, let's say, 7 or 8 USD, so they've sold that for only 70 or 80 USD, and this is a problem, unless they run to exchange it to fiat, but then we will never have a bitcoin economy but a "bitcoin paypal" instead.
Any merchant who doesn't update their prices more than once a month probably shouldn't be a merchant ... for a lot of reasons. It is pretty easy for a merchant to support dynamic prices in BTC so they get the same amount of fiat currency to rebuy inventory. Hell bitpay is even clever enough to allow a merchant to take 85% in fiat and 15% in BTC so they can pay the bills and still have some long exposure to bitcoin.

Since Iran has sanctions on them, bitcoin is the only other method to conduct business.
How exactly would that work? Say I am an executive of a factory in Iran weaving fancy carpets that I can't sell in the US or Germany due to trade sanctions. How exactly would Bitcoin help? Another example - I'm an executive of Iranian Airlines, and western companies are banned from selling me repair parts. How would Bitcoin help me with the maintenance of the fleet? I know this is the "speculation" board, but we should speculate based on reason and facts. Weave carpet. Sell for bitcoins. Send carpet to buyer. Carpet shipments gets intercepted and foreign buyer arrested for violating sanctions.Send bitcoins to associate in country with airplane making parts, EG Germany. Associate transfers funds from bitcoins to Euros, buys parts. Associate transports parts to you. Associate is undercover agent who uses the transaction as evidence against airline company which is fined $50 million for violation of international sanctions. There are lots of ways which bitcoins can be used to move capital around, you just have to be creative. Which doesn't help when your country is under international sanctions.FYPFY Um do you get the concept of sanctions. If Iran could have associates just ship them goods and have foreign ports accept their goods they wouldn't NEED bitcoin. Sanction means that companies that accept Iranian goods face seizure and arrest by local police. Sanctions mean that Iranian cargo can't be unloaded in foreign ports without risk of seizure and destruction. Sanctions mean that cargo ships carrying Iranian cargo risk being seized during coast guard inspections and held at the owner's loss. Sanctions mean that the airline parts company which sends parts to Iran faces criminal charges and million dollar fines. Granted people do try to get around sanctions but the idea that somehow accepting bitcoins frees Iran from sanctions is just silly.

Yeah I still don't get what you are asking. You combined 240+ inputs into 3 outputs. What part of that isn't balances being combined? So, what's the purpose of 'sendmany'? The purpose of sendmany to to make a transaction containing multiple OUTPUTS.

|

They are being combined. Your links even show that. Not sure exactly what you are seeing.
(dozens of tiny inputs) -> 1HMERtWN7Y34irfnYEzdWgxNf8g89LP2vA 0.0054321 BTC You now have a single unspent output worth 0.0054321 BTC @ 1HMERtWN7Y34irfnYEzdWgxNf8g89LP2vA

A quick piece of advice. Sending first is no protection if you don't have a receipt. "MoneyPak someone must have hacked my code. I have never used it and today when I tried to add funds to XXXX it said code invalid I have a receipt to prove I am the one person who bought it. I have no idea who might have guessed my code but I certainly never gave it to anyone". Not saying you would do that of course but sending first is completely and utterly meaningless without a receipt more than one person has been burned. BTW I will sell you some coins if you send first and are willing to wait 90 days for your coins. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

https://fastcash4bitcoins.comThe sell price at the time of posting is $11.52 USD per BTC. There is a 1% PayPal fee. 4.88 * $11.52 * 99% = $55.55 The price is dynamic so it may be higher or lower by the time you read it.

Well, my stupid head begins to understand. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) And if you use tables? This will increase the probability of finding a match? No. There is no method which will allow you to solve this problem faster than an exhaustive brute force search. If you could brute force the public/private keypair for a particular exact bitcoin address with any reasonable amount of computing power (even a massive amount) it would instantly destroy Bitcoin. Why stop at finding "1GiGKdNCywjPxdXEg6PbPtXWYNZStFoSfr" why not find the private key for an address holding hundreds of thousands of Bitcoins and instantly steal them? Of course even if you did how would you use them? Someone else would likely be stealing them from you by finding your private key. Who would be foolish enough to accept them as payment when they can just run some computers and steal them from you instead? Even if they are honest why would any merchant want coin which could be instantly stolen after they receive it? The value of BTC would fall to nothing. I mean what good is a store of value where someone can instantly and remotely take it from without any access to the store of value. "Poof" - value gone. The only method to find a particularly public/private keypair is an exhaustive brute force search and the address space is 2^160th. That is what vanitygen is doing. It is simply trying random numbers until it finds one that produces an address which matches your pattern. The longer the pattern the longer the search takes. Each digit increases the avg time to find a solution by a factor of 58x. So if you could fine an address which matches the first 5 digits in a day, one that matches 6 digits would take roughly 2 month, one that matches 7 digits would take roughly 10 years, one that matches 8 digits would take roughly 6 centuries, one that matches 10 digits would take 2 million years. If you turned the entire planet into a super computer which ran at perfect efficiency (the thermodynamic limit) and built a dyson sphere around the sun to capture all of it's entire energy output you couldn't produce all addresses before our sun burned out. You might have a ~1% chance of finding the keypair for a particular address sometime in the next 5 billion years.

What if they used a different medium, do you remember the solder iron sold on TV infomercials, battery operated, instant heat, melts solder? The tip was made out of a novel type of silicon that multiplies temperature. If you put that between the layers of the chips and apply cold temps, which would be multiplied by 10, you could get an effective thermoregulator. Law of conservation of energy says "NO". temp is merely a measure of thermal energy. You can't multiply energy. That would imply you created energy from nothing.

multi-sig address ARE usable right now. You need all the private keys in the same wallet to spend coins sent to a mult-sig address but that doesn't make them unusable. Limited utility true, but not usuable and certainly not "invalid".
Vanity gen doesn't support finding multi-sig addresss but similar software could be written to generate mult-sig addresses matches a prefix by modifying the script and checking the generating address.
Of course even these are tangents.
TL/DR: You "corrected" a statement that the address was valid by informing the person that it was "invalid" then got pissed and took it personally when corrected.

Then point me to where, exactly, in the standard client I can generate an M of N address beginning with that prefix.
That is another thing nobody claimed was possible. Tell me exactly where I can find gold for $0.20 per ton. An address beginning with "3" is generated from the hash of a script. "1" address. private key -> public key -> 1xxxxxxx address "3" address. script -> hash of script -> 3xxxxxx address

Nobody said it was a standard address. Nobody said it was generated by vanitygen. Had you actually read the thread you would notice that all that had been discussed before you came along "helping" with 100% false statements. Then you get made when corrected. This was the post you responded to: OK, my bad, corrected statement is probably: Prefix '3GiG' not possible using the current version of vanitygen That post was 100% accurate. This was your post: No, it's genuinely not valid. The first digit of any given Bitcoin address is the "version byte." Your post is false. You helped out by "correcting" a post which was already correct by providing an incorrect post. Then got mad because someone informed you of the fact. Yes it is a valid address. Yes it can be used. Yes it could (or one w/ same prefix) could be generated although not with the current version of vanitygen. THERE'S NO ACTUAL WAY TO USE THE DAMN THINGS. Another false statement.

That is the silliest reason ever. The nominal units don't matter market depth is market depth. Slippage of pennies on a $100 coin is negligible. What would matter if say the accumulated orders from $100.00 to $100.10 (0.1% slippage).
Are you saying $100 BTC w/ 21 million coins isn't possible but somehow $10 BTC w/ 210 million coins would be possible?
