If I get 10% interest then I'll get the loan filled tonight. Apologies for the late response. 5% isn't very much for 28 days.

Can you post the address you want us to fund it to?

I apologize for the mistake I committed in the OP. It was meant for 10% and not 5%.
I will repay 0.055 + tx fee.
1AMpFPv7bLsmUwD6yoJSasfzX6EHv8bJNd
Send the funds to the address given above and post here for confirmation.
Remember, this is an investment address, so please send exactly 0.05 BTC here.
If you don't send the coins during the next 1 hour from the time I posted this, please send me a PM with your Telegram ID, I will give you the address there and update everything here.

Can you repost in 3/4 hours with a new address? Does it need to confirm immediately also (within the hour I mean)?

8763  Other / Meta / Re: List of Bitcointalk Merit Source Users on: January 25, 2018, 08:17:07 PM
It's probably a given that ALL moderators and staff members are merit sources. Along with other people the Theymos or those said moderators (or cyrus) know to be good posters and good assessors of the quality of posts also.

Quote
"You are a merit source. The next XXX merit you spend will come from your source rather than your sMerit balance. Merit spent from your source will come back in 30 days. Unused source merit is wasted. It is not allowed for merit sources to sell their merit."

I found this quote slightly disturbing - it would tend to imply that others who are not merit sources are allowed to sell their merits. That rather kills the whole concept.

I agree there should be a complete ban on everyone selling/buying merit and everyone found to have done it should face some sort of ban as a result (and not be able to use any more merits).

As a separate point, does anyone know if sMerit can be gained thorugh activity increasing? E.G, every 14 activity you get a merit or is it just when you get merits that you get a 50% sMerit?

Tagged. You should watch this user, i.e. where exactly he is going to send his sMerit to.

Is there something in place to show where a user sends merit too? I do not think so yet,

Yeah. Just found it myself; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=408367

replace the u= with the actual user id that you want to track.

You can also click their username on a post [or go to their profile page] and the merit title has a hyperlink that takes you there.

Also, with breaking up the quote, you copy the bit of code at the top and end each section of the quote with [ / quote ]. I think that's the only way to do it.

^Does that message really deserve 41 merit?
Theymos just announced the new function about Merit points and he got a lot of sMerits so why not ? What is the point ?

The point is that it looks a bit fishy that someone has gained merits for fairly normal posts. Merits for posts that are very useful, helpful or good quality. Not post that other users probably have also made to a similar quality before (especially anything above 10 to give for a single post).

It does seem very quickly that people have started to abuse the system already.
8766  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Segwit address in electrum but not bech32 on: January 25, 2018, 06:26:45 PM
Thanks TryNinja.
There any way to do this with the Android app? I mainly use an Android phone and a Windows 7 laptop that cannot be upgraded (no matter how hard I try). Or do I need to simply switch wallets?
I can't say for sure. I tried to create the same wallet in the android app, but I couldn't find a BIP39 seed option to specify the derivation path, so I don't think it's possible right now.

Alright. I'll try using that other method on my old version of electrum and ensure I remember to use a different computer to sign it using another computer. Hopefully that'll work.
8767  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Segwit address in electrum but not bech32 on: January 25, 2018, 05:41:20 PM
Probably. But it's actually pretty simple. If you want to do it:

1. Go to iancoleman's BIP39 seed generator[1] (optional - download the source code and run offline for better security);
2. Select 12 words and generate a new seed;
3. SAVE THIS SEED AND DON'T LOSE IT! You can't see it again in Electrum and without the seed you can't restore your wallet in the future;
4. Download Electrum[2];
5. While creating the wallet, select: Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> Paste the seed from step 2.
6. Click Options -> check "BIP39 seed" -> Next.
7. In the Derivation part, paste m/49'/0'/0'/0 and click next.
8. Now you have an Segwit wallet with addresses starting with 3.

8768  Bitcoin / Electrum / Segwit address in electrum but not bech32 on: January 25, 2018, 04:57:15 PM
I want to experiment with SegWit but there doesn't seem to be many companies actually supporting Betch32 addresses and as electrum is the wallet I normally use, I've been wondering if anyone has managed to find a way to create an address beginning with a 3 as a segwit address. I know that these should be more widely accepted as I recall them first being used as something else like a 2FA address or something so they should be recognised much better?

I did find this:
Quote
Electrum also supports this kind of addresses but you need to manually import a BIP39 seed with a BIP49 derivation path.

But is this the only way?

jackg, I had been into ChipMixer way before, it wasn't my application but my switch request to SegWit address.

Code:

This is Stedsm, asking for a loan of 0.05 BTC to invest in a project.
The repayment will be done in a period of 28 days from the approval date of loan with 5% interest + tx fee paid by the lender, i.e.; 0.055 BTC + tx fee.

Is it fine?

Yes that one's fine, it has been posted on many occasions here.
I'll post once I've verified it. I currently have a fairly substantial loan I'm trying to fill but if that fails, I'll try to fund yours.

EDIT: Successfully verified in electrum
8770  Economy / Lending / Re: I am looking for a buisness partner - investor on: January 25, 2018, 03:25:59 PM
So you want $20000+ for an investment and you have no/little collateral.
Why not just sell this coin yourself? Also, what's the maximum amount of coins you have that can be circulated, I reckon 1.5 trillion tokens is a good 1% at least. And, if I'm not wrong, this is what an ICO is for!

Our total supply is 50 million. We did an ICO but we just dont have the right promotion we raised 700$. Its just funny how im called a scammer for trying to have a budget to work with. to get listed and start my project running.
The price of 1 token was 0.03$.
But its okay im not mad or anything. Its just dumb that how much me and my team is hardworking and dedicated to the project and to be called a scam. Ehsa

I never called you a scammer (you did that yourself). I just think it'd be greatly unlikely for someone like me to shift such a vast amount of coins if the loan isn't repaid.
Giving anyone 1.5 million tokens makes your altcoin a bit too risky also. It'd be easy for the lender just to start pump-dumping it and making a coin that isn't stable enough for people to want to invest in it.

Are you certain you really wouldn't be able to ICO these extra coins instead as there's so many.

Anyway, good luck with your coin.

I wouldnt be asking for a loan here if my ICO went well. But it didint

Normally if you have an ico that goes badly, it shows the problems with your coin and what you're suggesting.
Just keep going with your coin, list it on one exchange and get working on adding it to another. If you have a team with as much dedication to the coin as you have, they should be happy to lend you the money shouldn't they?

Use Electrum to verify this message. I'll give the address to send the funds to, after the approval.

You need to sign an address you've posted at least 3 months ago. That address has only been posted here and your chipmixer application on 18th Jan. Do you have any older ones you could sign?
8772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet, how to move from one internal HDD to another internal HDD?? on: January 25, 2018, 02:53:12 PM
thx for all the answers.

as my question was not only for bitcoin wallets but in general for qt wallets i managed to fix it with a quiet easy solution:

Just in case someone wants to fix it this way, here how i did it:

- first of all go the RUN in windows, type %appdata%, this will bring you to the hidden /appdata/roaming folder.
- here you find the whole data folder, like named "bitcoin", "UniversalCurrency" or whatever currency folder you have.
- move the whole folder to the desired HDD, in my case it was F:
- now go to desktop and create a shortcut
- point the shortcut to your currency wallet .exe file and just add -datadir="the_full_path_to_new_directory",
in my case it looks now: "C:\Wallets\eMark-Qt-1.5.0-win\eMark 1.5.exe" -datadir=F:\eMark"
- Done

At least in my case it works, syncs and everything else works fine with this wallet, trying  now some others too.

Thx to all the other suggestions, advices and tips, pretty sure they work too. But personally for me, this solution was the easiest, even more
if i choose at some time to move things to an external wallet or elsewhere i just have to modify only a simple letter in the shortcut.

Yes the shortcut works as well.

Consider that if you make large numbers of wallets then you may have too many desktop shortcuts available that it makes it difficult to assign any more.

Assuming you're running windows and using a D drive as an example:
There are a few ways to do this.
The way I'd suggest is to copy everything to a specific folder I.E "D:\bitcoin\data" and then start the next instance by running (using start+r bitcoin-qt datadir=D:\bitcoin\data. And you should be good to go.
Keep running it with that command if possible to ensure there's no issues.

It will have to resync everything fully though.

Thx a lot for your advice.

Yes, forgot to mention it, Win10 is the operating system.

Do i have to use the commands each time i access, use or sync the wallet or is this a 1x time setup command? Can not try it as i'am still downloading several wallets to C:/ .

Is this the only way or are there other stable easy options to move and have the wallet at D:/ or any other harddrive on the PC?

This is the only option I really know of. Other than just changing datafir at the start and deleting the other directory but that might slow it SLIGHTLY as it has to redownload everything.

And the command can be run once but if it resorts back to using the default datadir you'll notice it'll start resyncing at the bottom so shut it down and rerun the command.
Alternatively in the appdata\bitcoin folder, copy and paste the file path (form the navigation bar of explorer) and run the following:
Press start+r
Notepad [yourpastedtext]\bitcoin.conf
Click"yes" in the dialog box (if one appears).
And add the line datadir=D:\bitcoin\data.
8774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Looking for an Appropriate way to access the Forks (Need advice) on: January 24, 2018, 11:35:59 PM

What I'm trying to achieve ?
- Get BitcoinX from the fork that took place in November-December.

Method-
- Download Bitcoin Core,run a full node including the entire blockchain (about 150 gb).
- Download Bitcoin X Core and  copy paste the blocks,checkstate from Bitcoin Core to Bitcoin X Core so I don't have to download the entire blockchain again.

My Problem-
I Have to only copy-paste not more than 498888 blocks (because that's where the fork happened).Since blk000.dat files contain block information and are binaries,how do i make sure I only copy till the specified  498888 blocks ?

Also do suggest if there is a better way of doing this.I'm trying to save time by only downloading core once and then just copy pasting blocks where the forks took place.

Thank you.

How much are you actually going to get out of these wallets? If the private keys have only a certain number of coins in them a hardware wallet or claiming them through online services might be more of a viable option. Unless you have free electricity or can leave your computer running a few days to recover all your coins.

Merit:   0
what thats mean i didnt see taht before

It's a new system from theymos.

I think anyone can give merits (there's a +merit button next to the "quote" box on every post). Meaning, if someone makes a good post, they get merits, the more merits, the better the users content, helpfulness and/or approchableness on this forum.

8779  Economy / Lending / Re: Business Investment 2.43BTC - United Kingdom. on: January 23, 2018, 11:17:10 PM
As a last resort;

I am happy to do the following;

Loan Amount: 2.43 BTC or £20,000 depending on current value.
Repayment: £1,800 per month or £1,000 per week.
Bitcoin Address: 19r7vaHwT839qaEkrdx2Fvnw9YvUhHLHcm
Number of days: 12 Weeks £2,000 per week return.
Collateral offered: Spray booth valued at £28,000 and 49% Share in business to be bought back after the loan has been repaid.
Purpose: Business Assets

The problem is, the spray booth isn't valid collateral, as you would have to give it to the lending party to hold whilst you repay the loan. However, I'm pretty sure you actually need the spray booth for your business, hence it cannot be used as collateral.

Thats true Parodium, Plus the cost of moving a spraybooth is around £2,500 and the same to reinstall it.

I dont think that I've got any other collateral which I could use.

You could probably get a loan from the bank if you've tried them?
If you have the earnings you say you have, they'll be fairly happy to lend to you (other than the fact that you're self employed).

Also, what's your company number, I might consider investing half or a quarter if someone else can come up with something as well.
8780  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Two outputs on: January 23, 2018, 08:49:42 PM
Thanks, that was very helpful.  I ended up sending the BTC despite my concern regarding the second strange address and I didn't lose any BTC so...  I still don't see that second address anywhere, even under the addresses tab showing all.  One of the mysteries of the universe I suppose.

As the user @TheQuin says, it most likely went to a change address. I think there is a way to stop change addresses being used in the Preferences window in the wallet.

However, as long as your coins are still there, they'll just get spent from your change addresses and so can still be used. If you want them back in the original address, you can make a transaction from that change address to the origianl address with the amount that you want to send to it (just if you need everything on the original address) you will have to pay a fee though of course but it'll be very minimal to the 19btc you already have.
