881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - Pool Discussion. on: December 26, 2013, 10:02:48 PM
All Casinocoin P2Pool operators should update to the latest version at https://github.com/CartmanSPC/p2pool

SHARE_PERIOD was lowered from 15 to 5 and TARGET_LOOKBEHIND from 200 to 60

The lower share period should allow more shares to be available to miners. The lower target lookbehind should allow the pool to adjust difficulty based on hash rate faster.

gururise and Rav3nPL worked on the new settings to better optimize the pool...Thanks goes out to them!

-----------------
Just as a reminder P2Pool is decentralized so if one node gets taken down the rest are not affected. There are no accounts or coins stored by the pool. No confirmations to wait for....your coins are sent to you as soon as a block is found. Every block found is simultaneously announced across all the wallets in the P2Pool so there are less orphans encountered.

The source code is freely available for you to start your own P2Pool node that you can keep private for your personal mining needs. You wont need to trust any pool operators or their ability to keep the pool running.

I believe P2Pool is beneficial to maintain the security of the blockchain.

My payouts are are a bit strange, maybe anyone knows what this means. Most blocks i get around 2 csc, then some blocks in between i only get 0.2. So it looks something like this:

incomming trans:

2.113145
2.113145
2.113145
0.211314
2.113145
0.211314

anyone knows?

I am curious about this as well. It is only seen while solo or p2pool mining. Have noticed it on: DGC, WDC, CRC, CSC

Have been told that it is there to secure the blockchain against attack but have never checked the coin source code to confirm. The coin devs may not know themselves as that part of the code may have been copied from another coin.

If someone could check the coin source code to explain these smaller block payouts that would be great!
It is in the blockchain as the smaller amount so I imagine it would have to be in the coin source code.

I recall a post from hazard back when he was "calling out" the DGC dev that his "protection" of the blockchain with these smaller blocks actually made it easier to attack. I suspect that the DGC dev did not actually create this "protection" as it is also in Worldcoin and I believe that came out before Digitalcoin did.

Made some changes to the Casinocoin p2pool specs. Please delete your coin data folder and update to the new specs.

While researching casino sites I decided to give https://satoshibet.com/ a try...welp, wouldn't you know it...the minute I send my deposit they go down! Gesh  Roll Eyes

Well, the site came back and my deposit was there Smiley
The deposit and withdrawal was almost instant with BTC. I don't think they wait for confirmations to let you play.

Sorry if this has been addressed already but my diff is set to 5,992.10 with only 4.5 Mh/s. This seems quite high!

Why?

I was very happy that transcoder returned but he seems rather busy with this 9-5 job.

So I will take the initiative:

Any coders here who can help build a CSC browser wallet based on the SpareCoins wallet?  We need to replicate Blockchain.info's balance fetching and transaction pushing.

I also take CSC donations for funding the CSC browser wallet: CdXvZX7jQ8REiHEjtK6fHeLdYH9Pug66He

It will be a huge push for CSC if we are the second coin which has a browser wallet!

Furthermore: Donations for translation of casinoco.in into Chinese: Cc9hFodEjAw6VogzyV4qHc1SoZPB7BZSts

What we really need is a CasinoCoin browser wallet + API, similar to PayPal. I'm already in talks with Transcoder to do something like this; perhaps you could help out? I'm great at handling API related stuff but the actual wallet and storage of coins will be new to me. Add me on skype if you'd like; my username is SirSavary.

Someone may want to contact Clapyohands. He has a site with online wallets (including API I think). https://mywl.lt/

Just wanted to take a minute to give props to Transcender on the launch of Casinocoin.

He worked very hard at the start to ensure it was fair and mined just like any other miner to obtain the coin that he holds. I don't think anyone would have faulted him for pre-mining a coin such as this but he opened it up to the community to decide and went with their decision.

Perhaps we can start a donation address to be used for the purpose of developing the coin for its specific purpose. I read that a certain quantity would be necessary for casino's to cover bets. I don't know how that works but perhaps we can start building the funds to do so.

Maybe it would be best to start utilizing this coin by initially developing gaming sites to show the larger ones that it can be done successfully.

Also, now that we have a pool thread let's try to keep pool discussions over there...it's a bit distracting Wink

Hi Jarvis,

Shows that payments went out for the first two addresses. You can see the amounts in the graphs below. Cant find the third address having mined on either the west or east coast nodes. Looks like about half your hash rate was lost due to rejects. It is very important to tune your miners to p2pool to optimize your payments. The FAQ has some suggestions on how to do this. There is also a forum topic on this subject here on bitcointalk.org: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=153232

Yay, now maybe the main thread can focus on coin development Smiley

As for the Casinocoin p2pool I will try to list the public nodes here (in alphabetical order):

http://csc.squiggie.com:19327/
http://csc.xpool.net:8840/
http://us-east1.cryptovein.com:8840

If you would like to start your own node you can find the source here:

https://github.com/CartmanSPC/p2pool

If I have any public nodes missing please send me a PM.

It's great to see all the new pools popping up but please try to keep the mud slinging to a minimum.

Perhaps we should consider a separate thread for pool talk so that this one is not littered with it.

As far as Casinocoin p2pool is concerned it is currently operating at over 200 MH/s with 14 public/private nodes. Please choose one that is closest to you or start your own.

Starting your own allows you to pay no fee's and still benefit from the combined pool hashrate of over 200 Mh/s.

I would list all the public nodes but have lost track Smiley
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Online Casino Gaming | On Cryptsy! on: December 14, 2013, 10:49:55 PM
I've been running a local CSC p2pool node for a day or two now, and my efficiency is only 80-85%. Is it normal?

I'm getting about 85% efficiency on the east coast node too: http://csc-useast.xpool.net:8840/
I am unsure why and wonder if it is coin specific due to the 30 second blocks. I hear people who try solo mining are getting mostly rejects.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Online Casino Gaming | On Cryptsy! on: December 14, 2013, 04:02:16 AM
One more thing to recommend to p2pool miners...please add other nodes as backups to your main one. That way if one of them goes down you keep mining at the same PPLNS level as you have been.

I hear it is not good to mix pushpools and p2pools as failovers though.

Serious question for the various pool operators that we have here please:

Tomorrow I will be completing the buildout of 10 dedicated mining rigs, each with 6 x 7950s hashing at 600KH/s - 640KH/s per card, so between 3,600 - 3,850KH/s per rig for a total of 36-38.5MH/s. Now obviously that took a fairly hefty investment and I can't afford to have them up/down/up/down when they should be mining. Are any of you 100% confident that you could handle that influx right now? Or should I look to split them up between pools?

If I were you I would open up a private p2pool node. You would pay zero fee's and even if other nodes go down yours keep going.

If you like I can set up a private node for you to use based on your geographical location but would charge a 2% fee (maybe more based on your location or generosity) to cover some of the expenses. I would much rather see you bring up your own but understand it may take more time and effort than you would like to devote.
