Worst case: PoS and PoB coins make Bitcoin obsolete, Bitcoin can't change to PoS/PoB because of miners, mining industry collapses, Bitcoin continues as a hobbyist's / nostalgic's project on 0,01-0,10$ levels.

Und das will was heißen ... Grin

There was a news report about people calling 911 because Facebook was down.
They are really sick.
Should call 911 and point an accusating finger at Facebook for stealing all their data  Cool

883  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is a Bitcoin mining virus, more powerful than mining farms? on: February 03, 2015, 12:58:26 PM
For example a Bitcoin mining farm might have a few petahashes of mining power. Will a Bitcoin mining virus network have the same amount of power?
No, it will not have, at least not for long.

One of the core principles of botnetting is stealthiness. you cannot afford a high pitched noise from GPU fans to give that away. There is the reason why so far discovered viral miners are targetting CPU mined Altcoins. The Bitcoin hashrate is allready outside of their reach.

Remember not to buy "CPU-only" Altcoins.
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin cash? on: February 03, 2015, 12:13:58 PM
Oh, least we forget people HAVE to know better than buying a "used wallet.dat" file for hard currency. All trades must be done inside the blockchain. Seen seldom, but some $&/%§"$ tried to rip off folks like that.

Agree. Actually, Bitcoin is better than traditional paper cash. If you're at work and your paper money is at home, it can't be accessed immediately or near-immediately.

Bitcoins, on the other hand, can be accessed immediately even if you're at the North Pole.
THIS should be pointed out as a prominent advertising bullet.

Single coin, spendable only one time, but accessible from different places/persons at the same time.

887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone so quiet? on: January 29, 2015, 12:54:11 AM
We should rename bitcointalk in bagholdertalk and that's the end of the story.
Naw, sold a good bunch on all time hights, made a small fortune.

And story still continued afterwards  Cool the end isn't even nearby
888  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: January 28, 2015, 10:07:24 PM

Cry Cry Cry Cry

890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Greece adopt Bitcoin? The answer is No on: January 28, 2015, 02:25:20 PM
SYRIZA is a rather fascist/nationalist party that is making an opportunistic power-grab, exploiting the fact that the people are angry with the status quo. It is, actually, quite likely to win the elections. It is not, however, likely to improve things there. Oh, well. At least it is not the Stalinist party or the openly fascist Golden Dawn. Yep, they have those there too. When the economy turns down, the cockroaches start crawling.
Today the media is calling SYRIZA leftist. So did you made up your mind meanwhiles? Extreme left or right, or both maybe  Roll Eyes
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Greece adopt Bitcoin? The answer is No on: January 28, 2015, 02:10:12 PM
With the recent political crisis in Greece and the fear of the global financial system that a far left party will be the government for the next years the situation is more than tough about Greece financial future.
Is this the real picture behind the financial situation in Greece?
Does anyone know what real happen in Greece?
And the last question is will Greece adopt bitcoin and get out from euro?
Will Greece officially adopt? Unlikely. They are held hostage in euro union.

Will some greece citizens know about Bitcoin now? Definitely YES on that.
Some might even find it usefull.
At least the existance of an unblockable electronic money transfer system will shape the form of the so called "Grexit". One cannot "isolate" a whole country from wire transfers.

Coinbase eröffnet die erste deutsche Niederlassung in Bielefeld
Source? Troll? Warum Bielefeld?
Darum Bielefeld.

Armes DE.
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Louisd’or(codename)- first anonymous PoS, CN-based currency (technical review) on: January 27, 2015, 12:08:55 PM
Personally I think Boolberry had one of the strongest names. Darkcoin probably has the weakest name.

IMO anonymous coin branding should be friendly, ambiguous, and pass the girl next door test.

Darkcoin just sounds like a crap kids toy, which is probably why it has the following from idiots as it does.

Boolberry genuinely sounds cool. However, Louis d'or is probably a little too abstract! Cheesy
the name has a strong relation with bullion coins, first thinking of gold here. probably girl next door approveable.

The Louis d'or is any number of French coins first introduced by Louis XIII in 1640. The name derives from
the depiction of the portrait of King Louis on one side of the coin; the French royal coat of arms is on the reverse.

896  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who got burnt today! on: January 27, 2015, 09:28:32 AM
Well, I warned people yesterday about big crash. it happened in the second of coinbase's exchange opening...
The trendline is actually pointing upwards if you recognize this month's lowest as beeing a really low point even for the last couple of 12 monthes.
Of course the last hill was predictable  Angry and the slide down now hurts the indecisive spontaneous late buyers. Things like that wreck it for the wider adoption.
897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Princeton University Is Offering Its Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Course Online on: January 27, 2015, 09:23:25 AM
Interesting, just Princeton is unconnected to my local area educational institutions. When I scrape through this online course with success, grading even, what do I get as a certificate?
Something representable remaining?

marketcap would be in trillions if it disrupts Gold..
Not so comfy on gold comparisons. There are substantial differences between a digital currency and cultural assets. Just pointing at those news regarding Tutankhamun's beard.

900  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: probability of generating a block solo mining Bitcoin vs lottery on: January 27, 2015, 05:07:35 AM
had to un-shit my pants - realized posts originally from 2013. because someone asked how long would it take, someone pointed 1ths or so, and had a block in no time. i was... excited and confused.

someone recently lucked one with nominal hashing considering the task. just luck.

there's a difference between hashing and catching.
Lottery sells hope, solo mining sells loss. There is no way around using a pool now, then the luck turns the other way: tiny revenue in comparison to ruffled looking raffle tickets.
