881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: investing a money on: January 19, 2024, 06:04:08 PM
Let's assume we have a) $5000
5000$ in Bitcoin.

b) $10000
10,000$ in Bitcoin.

c) $15000 to invest, what do you suggest?
15,000$ in Bitcoin.

Then put everything inside a hardware wallet and wait for the next bull run. This is the safest strategy to invest in cryptocurrencies. You don't need anything besides Bitcoin to make profit in crypto industry. But if even after reading this you aren't convinced yet, and think Bitcoin profitability is too low for you, then you might split your investment into 90% Bitcoin and 10% for altcoins. I wouldn't recommend investing more than 10% in altcoins, due to the lack of reliability they present on long term, compared to Bitcoin, unless you aren't really willing to invest your money, rather you are looking to gamble with your funds.
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: January 19, 2024, 05:51:43 PM
Bitcoin can't create anything, since it's just an inanimate currency without free will, conscience, desires, needs and everything else a human being has... But through Bitcoin people can proportionate new opportunities to reduce poverty in the world, as it's a decentralized currency which can be easily adopted by anyone, since they have an internet connection and proper device. To be able to work online to someone on the another side of the world and be paid in BTC is a great opportunity for everyone to raise their incomes and thrive financially.

However, opportunities are still scarce and most people can't take advantage of Bitcoin, since they don't have money to invest, and not being able to find jobs offers on the internet. The virtual labor supply is just too high for the current demand from the market. It ends that only few lucky individuals manage to earn money online, while the vast majority still perishes, despite the disgusting and delusional propagandas made by coaches and social influencers telling it's easy to make online income and everyone can work online.

I was watching a documentary yesterday displaying Mumbai's slums, where poor workers were making 6$ daily income through plastic recycling. How could those people invest in BTC with such low amounts of money? Probably they don't even have money for all their basic needs at first place. So, Bitcoin is definitely not reaching those people. It's not helping them to leave poverty, because they can't adopt Bitcoin, neither have means to work online to earn it as extra income.

I believe Bitcoin hasn't been helping people to get rid of poverty, rather it's helping middle class citizens to raise their life standards, while some of them have been able to become rich through investing in Bitcoin during the early years.
883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Higher and lower risks in gambling is the gamblers choice. on: January 19, 2024, 05:34:42 PM
It's quite obvious the less probability of winning a bet, the higher it's going to be its final reward, while a bet where you have a high winning probability will reward you low profit. Different gamblers will choose one or another route, depending the current situation and their past experiences betting on the favorites and underdogs. There isn't an assured strategy to be more profitable on long run by choosing low or high risks. Actually, every gambling strategies you adopt will lead to long run losses, unless you are lucky to hit the jackpot once in your life and quit gambling.

Personally, I've already played through low risk many times, but I don't feel like the experience was rewarding for me. If I could go back in time, probably I would do the opposite, going for high risk and high odds, because that way at least I would have the chance of winning some considerable prize (the jackpot) and then making good use of the reward, instead of losing big sums of money on low risks bets, imagining they were going to work in my favour...
884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The PCSO Lotto is shrouded in doubt due to the picture of the winner shown on: January 19, 2024, 05:22:31 PM
As we can see in the picture, it appears to be just an edited version, casting doubt on whether there was a genuine winner or if corrupt officials inside are attempting to claim the victory using that picture as evidence.
If a company or lotto organizer had to go the extent of embarrassing themselves by using a fake picture of a winner, then it means that there is no winner in the first place because if there is a winner, and he wanted to remain anonymous to the public, there are better ways to go about it than faking this picture, where the editor who created the picture did a very bad job. It is very disgraceful, because the fake picture just exposed that the lotto is also a fake and should be avoided. In some places, if there is really justice, these lotto officials deserve to answer to the law.
That is the point. If the winner didn't want to be recognized, there shouldn't be the need for taking any pictures at first place. That would be much more legit than sharing an obviously faked picture on social medias to justify a winner who might not even exist. The story is so absurd that it became funny after all... Now despite investigations and every other political procedures going on, people should just stop playing on this lottery for their own good. There are so many gambling offers available on the internet nowadays that this local lottery can be totally forgotten by Filipinos without any prejudices for them.

Anyway, don't expect anything from the government and politicians, under the risk of wasting precious time of your life waiting for a justice which may never come, because corruption is permeated through all those spheres of power.
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What ugly incident or occurrence have you ever experienced in gambling? on: January 19, 2024, 01:43:36 AM
A device malfunctioning from time to time is to be expected, since the more you use it the greater the chances of a failure to happen, and since this is the case people need to have a plan when that happens.

In my case I make sure to keep backups of all my information, while at the same time I avoid keeping my coins or other apps that could store money there as I know phones can break at a moment’s notice, so whenever this has happened to me I can just get another phone or get it repaired, and avoid going through any anguish over it as I know that I am not really losing anything due to my phone breaking.
In the video shared by OP, unless the problem occured only when the man was betting, that gambler should already know his device had to be replaced by a new one, because it's likely it was malfunctioning while being used for other apps in general as well, as a damaged device won't work properly for anything. If it's really the case, I think the man was too irresponsible to use that device for gambling, because such issues were expected. Actually, I think a device like that shouldn't be used for any matters involving money, as the risks of something going wrong and losing funds forever are too high. Imagine sending a transaction to someone and the button doesn't work, but after a while you see it not only worked, but also sent the transaction twice... I understand money is hard to acquire for everybody right now, and that if the man had conditions he would be using a better device, although at same time to use a damaged smartphone isn't helping either.
886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: January 18, 2024, 11:46:40 PM
I think this is true when our kids grow up to the point where they understand what is gambling,at that point we should not gamble in front of them.Right now though I gamble and sometimes my daughter comes to see me,I tell her that this is the carrot and this the fish game as I play Rabbit Garden and Big Bass slots from Pragmatic most of the time. She thinks it is a game with fishes and rabbits and laughs at me,of course she is just over 3 years old and keeps smiling, she thinks I am working on the computer when she sees me.I tell her dad is doing a little game because it is needed for work as she with her innocence smiles at me,I don't think is harmful for now.
It's not harmful for now because she is still too young to understand. But be assured it won't take too long until she starts asking you to let her play the rabbits and carrots' game as well. She will want you to teach her how to play the game. I say that because I remember when I was a young child I watched my father playing a game on the computer. At first point I just had interest in watching him playing the game, but after some time I already wished to try by myself as well. And it was more or less at the same age of your daughter I watched him playing, and after 1 or 2 years I desired to play the game myself.

Once it happens you will have to create another excuse or stop playing in front of her, because I think you won't want to let her play slot machines in such an early age, right? The fact slot machines are so colorful and shining make it impossible that kids don't develop sudden interest for them. At same time, I don't think parents should create a taboo around gambling games when talking about them to their children. I guess to take a more natural approach must be the best idea.
887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 18, 2024, 11:32:37 PM
Gambling under pressure is very rare. Maybe what you mean is that you feel pressured when you experience a losing streak that causes you to lose quite a lot of money and decide to continue playing or stop.
The majority of people gamble because they feel free. It is true that people who gamble definitely look for profits from winning. But the main reason is that when you gamble, you are doing something you enjoy.
Whether you spend money or not is a different matter. But when you win the game your pleasure will double.

When I feel depressed because of defeat, I will definitely decide to quit. Because if I keep forcing myself to play it won't make me feel happy and I will lose more money because I definitely won't focus on enjoying the game. Wink

the dilemma why some gamblers are playing under pressure because they need to return the money that they owed to someone else. but if you are just using your extra money, for sure, you will enjoy the process of playing. if you think gambling is bringing you more trouble, then better think of quitting rather than pushing yourself to the limit of hard return.
It's common to play under pressure on the kind of situation you mentioned, but it's not that hard to see gamblers playing under pressure as well when using their own money, because they are using funds they aren't supposed to lose, since it will be needed later for purchasing food, paying bills and other basic stuff for the family. At the beginning of the gambling session there isn't much pressure, as expectations and hopes are intact. But as the playing session goes by, and loss streaks are faced, the tension increases and the gambler feels cornered, with only one thought in mind: I can't leave with less money than I started...

This mindset is destructive and leads the individual to even further losses. From high hopes and expectations he goes to fear of the consequences of reaching home without any penny on his pockets, what will inevitably turn the wife against him full of complaints, while children cry on the background. Each bet moves him closer to the hell, and since he is aware about it, the situation becomes even more chaotic inside his mind.

Pressure is a clear signal something is going wrong... It's the body and the mind warning you about a dangerous situation, something potentially harmful which should be avoided. It's a defensive mechanism which shouldn't be neglected. It just doesn't worth putting yourself in a suffering situation like that. If gambling isn't being a peaceful and relaxing activity anymore, stop it immediately for you own good!
888  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 18, 2024, 11:17:17 PM
One can still gamble every day and still make it in life; it's all about choice. Gambling every day does not mean you will gamble with every bit of your time.

I can spend 1-2 hours daily gambling every single day until the end of the week, and I will still have enough time to engage in my daily life activities that won't be affected in any way at all. It's just a matter of me knowing what I want and what I want to do with my time, and if I'm in control, then there is no problem with that.

For me, I don't gamble every day, but still, I can't have anything against anyone who can afford to gamble every day because I'm not in their schedule. The only time I can see gambling every day as a bad thing is if the person allows his gambling activities to affect his working space, then that's not a good thing to do at all.
That is correct. It's pretty possible to gamble every day and still have a functional life. However, gambling belongs to leisure activities, what means the person will have to give up on another pleasant activities he enjoys, such as watching series and TV, playing videogames, going out with family and friends. Otherwise, he won't have enough time to do everything, and then his routine isn't going to be functional anymore. If the individual is willing to do this replacement, then it's fine to gamble everyday, but if he wants to do everything I mentioned everyday, then I think we have a problem!

A problem which will start affecting his social and familiar relationships, his performance at the work and consequently his finances. Anyway, it will happen just in case the person fails scheduling all his appointments precisely, or when using gambling as escapism. However, by paying attention to his actions it shouldn't be so hard to control himself in real time to not let things go out of control.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 18, 2024, 08:12:02 PM
When we don't care about what people say about us as a gambler, we would also know that some people might be right about us and may be trying to help us out especially our family members trying to make us stay away from gambling to reduce our gambling addictions.
Thinking about this point specifically, it gives us a good reason to not completely ignore other people's opinions about our gambling habits. If we are going too far with our bets and losing money we shouldn't be losing, people around are probably willing to help through advices. In case we don't care about what they are telling, says more about the addicted gambler himself than the people who are advising him, as it's also a serious symptom presented by addicted individuals. They think to be right all the time and don't accept the fact they are suffering from an addiction.
890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFTs in the Real World on: January 18, 2024, 01:54:00 AM
I might be missing out the point here. It's a physical toy. It doesn't have any need for nft. I mean what would i even with do with the NFT token in here? If i trade it, it's still connected to my physical toy. Why would anyone want it or why it would have any value without the physical object? Is it supposed to be just a proof of authenticity? I think it's an overkill in every way. And are we supposed to trade these toys by mail and just trust the buyer or seller? And if the private key gets lost, i am guessing that the physical toy wouldn't have any value.
Probably the NFT usage would be its introduction to the game they are developing... So the NFT represents your avatar or skin in the game. At least, that is what I understood. If it's not the case, then this NFT has no reason to exist at all. I think it must be pretty possible to trade the NFT without trading the physical toy within it. To tie both things wouldn't make sense from a commercial point of view, since it totally nukes international trades, and considering crypto industry works in global scale, bringing the whole world together, it would be out of the way for someone in US to sell the NFT to someone in India, for an example.
891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING DISORDER on: January 18, 2024, 01:37:48 AM
How can one control the uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on once life.

It's getting worse every day. I'm extremely depressed I have thoughts of unaliving myself more often, some times I feel the betting companies manipulate people spiritually to get them addicted where be playing without plans and strategy. Once a bet place get cut, there is this uncomfortable urge to quickly book another one with the plans of recovering the first money lost but it will end up cutting again.
Do you have any friends or relatives who could help you, at least to talk and to stay with you during the harsh moments? It could help a lot, but first of all you have to have a legit desire from the bottom of you heart to stop gambling and to overcome this addiction.

Then I suggest you excluding every accounts you have at casinos. Identify what motivated you to gamble the first time you did, and then look for another means to fulfill those same expectations you had regards gambling. Try to find alternative activities you could practice that are pleasant and rewarding (not financially, but emotionally), probably something you were used to do before you developed the addiction.

Occupy your mind with another subjects, hobbies, interests... You life can't be summarized to gambling. There must be another stuff you enjoy which will make you happy. When you feel the urge to gamble, just think that by doing this you will be losing money. Don't give yourself the right to think there is a possibility of making profit. Due to the current stage you have reached, for you this possibility just doesn't exist!
892  Economy / Economics / The world's logic favours income makers, not the savers on: January 18, 2024, 01:24:35 AM
People usually have the illusion that by saving money they are making a great deal, while in fact, the truth is that to save is nearly to useless when thinking on achieving financial progress in life. An independent middle class citizen, without the burden of a family on his back, can save enough money to buy the car of his dreams or the property he always desired living on, since he is commited to these goals, making a lot of effort and cuts on his expenses in order to accumulate enough money for that.

It's not easy, but not impossible, anyway. However, even though the system allows him to achieve those purchases, it doesn't allow him to maintain the patrimony and vehicle, because to possess such goods, someone has to pay yearly taxes to the government. The more expensive your car is, the higher the tax you are going to pay. The more expensive your house is and the best localized it is, the higher will be the tax to be paid.

To have to pay an annual tax for something you own and paid with your own money to possess is ridiculous...

This evil rigged system never allows a middle class hard working person to reach too further on improving his life standards. If he doesn't have a large income, he won't reach anywhere. To be a disciplined saver along decades of his life isn't enough.

Moral of the story: don't save money for more than one month. As soon as you accumulated some amount of fiat, put it into an investment and make it generate passive income for you, although you should avoid banking investments, since they usually pay below the inflation. Go for Bitcoin and assets when there isn't enough money to invest in something bigger. There is no assurance you will defeat the evil rigged system which smash common citizens, but at least you will be trying to overcome it...
893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 17, 2024, 10:12:08 PM
The good news for Argentina is about their coach and it seems Scaloni is going to stay in the team because there was a meeting between Chiqui Tapia and the coach of Argentina, Scaloni while we heard there is a bad relationship between Scaloni and him but after this meeting, there's more chance for Scaloni to stay in Argentina. Now Argentina is again has more chance to shine in the 2026 World Cup.
If Scaloni is indeed in the Argentina national team for the 2026 World Cup, then this news is very good news for the Argentina team. We all saw that Messi won the World Cup for the first time under the leadership of Scaloni in the 2022 World Cup and fixed the relationship with Scaloni. If the 2026 World Cup is played under the leadership of Scaloni, the Argentina team will definitely do much better. The way the current Argentina team is performing is really admirable if Scaloni is with their team, it is expected that the Argentina team will do much better in the 2026 World Cup.
Argentina won 2022 Qatar World Cup mainly because of Messi. He was the decisive factor which made the dream of the argentinian nation become true. But for 2026 it's another story... We don't know yet if Messi is going to play, and even if he does, he will be older and his performance is expected to decrease by there. And without him it's not likely the argentinian national team can win the World Cup. Actually, the soccer industry claims for a new generation of titans, as the current ones are already getting old and retiring themselves from the fields.

A good coach is important, but it's not a decisive factor, anyway. The next World Cup seems to be a very unpredictable one. There are opportunities for every national teams to rise up and impress the world with their skills. Even a stable team without any specific stars can shine, because the old titans aren't the same anymore.

The best platform lads!! That FUN partnership was huge, and the way I first learned about you in the end. Just keep up the good work, everything works perfectly so far!!

Well, the Fun is steady at 14-15 sats, but I think it will go down a bit more. That doesn't have anything with DPlay, so I am not sure what kind of partnership you are talking about. Lately, I see some newbies shilling for DPlay in some threads, in more than one thread, so I wonder where it all comes from?!
About partnerships, FUN has created (or is going to create) a 20M fund for up to 40 startups (500K FUN for each) interested in adopting FUN into their ecosystems. It was announced on their last roadmap, which I guess is going to take place in 2024. You can watch it at their youtube channel, where there are also another videos which may interest potential and current FUN investors:

FUN Token Roadmap Announcement (Very professional AI presentation, by the way).

So the big question is, will we see FUN under 10 sats or not? Smiley
If FUN isn't able to follow Bitcoin's increasements in price (percentually), it's possible we see FUN dropping to 10 satoshis or less... That would be very unfortunate, though.
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto gambling and religious restrictions on: January 17, 2024, 09:43:06 PM
All holy books wrote things about Gambling such as :
(Matt. 6:24) : You cannot serve both God and money
This writing is about money, not gambling. And it says about serving money, while it doesn't condemn the usage and persuit of money by human beings. Solely by gambling or by looking for means to thrive financially in life doesn't mean we are serving money, but that we are making money to serve us on our needs aiming life quality and personal development.

Gambling for them it ruins your spirit and makes you a bad person, lead to social and economic harms. To me simply, religions are avoiding anything that has a risk of bad things, an example in Islam with Alcohol since it’s something that can make you addicted, so it’s totally haram and forbidden to even smell it.
Everything in excess and without rules ruin your spirit and lead to social and economical issues. Even good things God created can ruin us if we don't know how to use them, as they were supposed to be used in first place. Sex is an example of that.

Free individuals should make use of their free will to walk through the paths which will bring healthy and uplifting consequences for their lives, without becoming slaves of religions, which have as goal to shear the natural inclinations of the spirit, through the dogmas they perpetrate on people's minds. These dogmas just kill the natural inclinations of the spirit for self-realization, while at same time we don't even have sure if such dogmas are really demanded by God.

Now coming specifically to the FUN token, do we expect to see the All-time high for the FUN token when the bitcoin is at the all time high ?
It will not be easy to see the FUN token at $0.33$, which was the all time high for this token in the year 2017. We even did not find the all time high for the FUN token in the previous bull market, so i do not expect the same in this bull season.
Of course a new FUN token ATH is not possible anymore, and as far as I know it was 0,19$, not 0,33$... Supply is just too high for a demand which doesn't exist at all. We have to be realistic about it. Scarcity plays a big role in pushing prices upside on long run. It's one of the reasons why Bitcoin performs so well along the years.

If we check the charts, we will see FUN has been stable near 0,004$-0,007$ since 2018, with the exception of 2021's bullish run, which boosted its price to almost 0,05$ (the resistance level). It's hard to assume if a similar fluctuation will happen on the next bull season, but it would be great if we could see FUN at least doubling its current price in satoshis. From 15 satoshis right now to 30 satoshis should be already considered a big victory for investors, having in mind there is a constant flux of FUN tokens dropped on the market through interest paid at premium freebitco.in's program and Binance staking program.
897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: January 17, 2024, 09:01:26 PM
Yes. Some of the main things I’d pay attention to if I suspected of being addicted to gambling are like this:
- do I do other activities? Do I talk to people about other things besides gambling?
- is gambling getting in front of other important activities in my life?
- how long can I stay without gambling?
- staying without gambling gives me anxiety?
- do I dream about gambling (winning or losing)?

Many others of course but this looks like a good place to start
These are very good questions you have developed to ask yourself continuously in a daily basis in order to spot possible disfunctional behaviors being developed inside your self regards your gambling habits. By doing this, you are actually evolving your self-knowledge skills. You are understanding and knowing better how the personal and subjective interaction between body and soul (or mind) work. Problems start in mind, and only after they manifest on the body.

What happens is that most people don't pay attention to problems when they are being built exclusively on the mental sphere during their initial state, rather they only spot something is going wrong when such problems are already manifested on the body, through excessive sweat, headaches, trembling, heart acceleration... And then these symptoms affect the mind even more, creating further negative symptoms, until the organism reaches a total breakdown point.

We have to monitor ourselves and make sure things are not going out of control, so we can remain closer as possible to a homeostatic level of wellfare. Besides the points you made on your post, I would also add another one: do I keep thinking about gambling when people are talking to me about general subjects? Is it affecting my concentration and focus on another activities, due to being unable to stop thinking about gambling meanwhile?
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: January 17, 2024, 08:44:45 PM
I still can't understand the reason for doing this, for someone to claim what is not, when you never win but decided to take it to your fellows that you did just to entice them...
People do this because they are scammers. They want to earn money in illegitimate and disgusting ways. The practice of forging accusations against someone or against a service is mainly used by blackmailers, people who attempt to make profit by asking money to stay quiet. While their target doesn't pay them, they continue spreading lies and negative reviews in order to destroy the reputation of their targets. So these people who are attacked may feel cornered and oppressed by such accusations, and to get rid of them as faster as possible, they do as the blackmailers ask.

At least, that is what these scums expect to happen. But on internet it's not so easy for scammers to succeed on this field... It uses to be more effective for scammers when this practice is executed in real world, as the threats seem more damaging and may go beyond destroying reputations, but also causing physical harm, therefore the mental pressure and torture is much more intense over the victims.

In fact, this practice has been really common at children and teenagers' schools, executed by bullies, who blackmailed and humiliated others in public to get what they want from them and build their own reputations as bad guys who nobody could confront.
899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 17, 2024, 08:23:22 PM
one was telling the other of how he had won a big amount of money from a lotto he played and he has used the money to get himself a new bus for public transportation business.
It's always very nice to hear positive experiences from gamblers about their winnings, which helped them to acquire enough money to start a business or achieve a dream they were wishing for so long. I believe the best side of the stories isn't the fact of eaning a large sum of money, but the decision they made in using that money for purposeful improvements in their personal lives.

Sometimes people are hopeless, they don't know what to do anymore to improve their life status and reach a more comfortable lifestyle. It seems all they have tried has failed along the years, so the luck factor is very important in these cases to give a boost, to raise their moral and confidence, consequently making them believe things can get better, when they least expect. In few cases I agree with you: gambling, an activity heavily influenced by the luck factor, can help to restore hope which has been lost for so long...

However, we shouldn't count on this as our last salvation plan. If something good has to come through gambling, let it happen naturally. Never force anything on this matter. Never act irresponsibly expecting positive outcomes from your desperate actions.
900  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: January 17, 2024, 01:43:28 AM
I think it's not necessarily about keeping a gambling habbit secret from public view... but choosing the right place to share gambling experiences is still the best practice to do. Some people view gambling as a taboo topic, and rather than disrupting regular conversations because someone dislikes gambling while others enjoy it, it might be better not to touch on the subject of gambling in certain discussions.
I understand when you say it's a taboo topic, because many young people are getting introduced to gambling nowadays through virtual sports betting casinos, and since these youngsters are still newbies on this matter, they don't have any experience, besides having distorted expectations regards gambling, what inevitably has brought losses for many of them. Therefore, regulators, parents, authorities are concerned about gamblers' routine. Some people turned against online casinos full of angry claiming they make huge profit over the misery of their sons and brothers.

These people are so hostile towards gambling, that a reasonable conversation seems to not be even possible right now. They remove all the responsabilities from gamblers and put them entirely over casinos and gambling exclusively. So, it's really not a good idea to talk about your gambling experience anywhere. To avoid an unnecessary quarrel is the best you can do.
