The possibility of gambling not existing is very small, and the number of people who would have become rich from gambling is small too because only the chosen ones are becoming rich out of it. They somehow wanted to recreate bitcoin with modifications favorable to them. If bitcoin will be slow to spread itself soon bitcoin clone will replace the old bitcoin. Banks are a threat to bitcoin. I dont think they could able to create a new blockchain which is being governed by them. If that happens for sure it will easily adopted on most people because they will follow the regulations on a particular bank.It will patch up bitcoins existence for sure but i dont think it will happen fast and for sure it will takes time before it would be implemented. The same issue you are having is same thing that have even discouraged me from registering on some exchange site for trading even over here too to buy Bitcoin from some sites, its a thug of registration doing some unnecessary "KYC" even after selling beyond the normal ruling rate and that is even when government has not promulgated any law regarding that.
