881  Local / Press & News from India / Re: IEEE to issue blockchain skill certificates on Avalanche in India on: December 08, 2023, 03:37:15 PM
I am aware of a project called EvidenZ (previously BCDiploma) which also provides similar certificates for school and college degrees. Was a bounty participants and its token price went up well, so I holding their tokens for many years now. I think blockchain entrance into the common things of life like groceries, marketing, certification will not happen quickly but very slowly because of a multitude of factors. The above news is optimistic but following it to see how much it makes an impact, will be worth seeing.

BTW I first came to know about IEEE when I was doing my firsts in wifi hacking, I used to come across the IEEE 802.11x very commonly.
882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: December 08, 2023, 03:26:43 PM
But those who are involved in such high-stakes bets are those who have taken sports betting as a way to make money in the form of investment.
I would not go that far to call sport betting an investment. It might be an EV+ game, but it is still have some luck factor and that luck factor can wipe out your balance after the end of the round.

A high-stakes game means more difficulty in managing the bankroll. While we talk about a 10% max of bankroll on any single bet, these people might go for more than that and end up with a loss. Personally I would never go that far unless I have some insider news.

Discipline here means less gambling from the player's side, which kind of negates gambling altogether.
883  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: December 08, 2023, 03:11:50 PM
On the plus side, as you posted in the coinomize signature thread, some mixer campaigns are starting moving to altcointalk, so it's not like they're gone forever. Hopefully the trend continues and all mixers would move there (together with the participants), creating more traffic and more competition, driving pay rates up.
I saw the thread on Altcointalks, their payrate is much lower than what was offered on bitcointalk. The top quality posters who were in such campaigns will think twice over going there to promote it unless the pay is compensated in some other form. I am sure the managers are doing well managing this and since I am not willing to add in another account to that forum, I will stay here and focus on the issues on this forum. Cheesy

Not sure how some of the members can manage two forums at the same time. Kudos to those who can! Roll Eyes
884  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: December 08, 2023, 03:03:20 PM
...and he keeps looking at this thread everyday while laughing at himself.
Which is what makes this type of tricks even more dirty.

Taking advantage of the lender's kindness to provide a non-collateral loan, they dont have the guts to owe up and confess that they are unable to pay back and need more time. At least they should communicate and not ghost the lender. Most of the lenders here are reasonable enough to give time and make room with smaller repayments.

The accused thinks they gamed the system by doing this, while they actually deep down know that they are fault.
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking to sell a computer to raise money to invest in Bitcoin. on: December 07, 2023, 09:35:39 AM
The computer is a necessity in the current life, if you don't have use for it then go ahead and sell. But you will need some digital device to access your coins after you buy them.

Also I agree with @adaseb here. The things you can do using a computer to earn money should be kept in mind. You are exiting teenage now and you will need a computer for studies, work and research, so I don't find it to be a wise decision at all.

Best to talk to your parents and assess your financial and educational condition before taking this step. Bitcoin can wait but your education needs to be completed in time.
886  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] MIR Bounty Campaign - Fake Team + Fake Project on: December 07, 2023, 09:32:02 AM
OP, please be aware the next time you create a flag, that the reference topic is made by a trusted user or yourself and use that to prepare the flag. Do not use the scammers topic as reference because they can edit and remove it in the click of a button.

Either way the scammer has been thwarted for now. But they will be back so be aware of the same.

I believe thread can be locked now.
887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos and gamblers are struggling with high tx fees.? on: December 07, 2023, 09:27:36 AM
Gamblers are not deterred by anything and fees are the least important to them. After not playing for a while, the dopamine surge is needed to get that high again and hence they will use methods to circumvent the high fees. This includes taking on site loans, using an altcoin to deposit or using a fiat casino for the time being.

Logically speaking it is better to wait it out and delay gambling for the time being. But logic does not work when it comes to gamblers. Hence the number of gambler might slightly reduce but would not be significant enough for the casino.

889  Local / India / Re: Which of the following P2P exchange you trust? on: December 06, 2023, 02:09:20 PM
What about Bisq? I think they are having a Decentralized network and they dont ask for KYC.

Check it out here - https://bisq.network/

The problem I see is that you need to keep your software on when a trade is opened, which seems like a bummer to me. I havent used it myself, does anyone else use it on a regular basis?
890  Local / India / Re: Future of Indian Economy on: December 06, 2023, 02:07:33 PM
I agree they are having a bad time, but how much the government or the ruling party is to be blamed can be decided by the timeline.
Maybe when a better party line comes in, things will turn out rapidly. We just have to wait it out.

Quote
To an extent the Indian exchange were largely to be blamed on thier own atrocious fees. As of now they are offering zero fees on trading, which for me is very late.
They somewhat dug their own grave there. But they realized it when it was too late. Stock brokers have zero brokerage fees but only charge in selling.

Quote
The ruling party has made the situation more difficult when they realized cryptocurrency could become a game changer for them. I won't blame them for nothing as they are know to respond late and when they do respond they make a mess.
With so much talks will international names, I was thinking crypto should have become more of the government's buzzword in coming days, but seems like it is not the case. However if things turn good with crypto in the West, the East will follow.

Quote
As of other projects that they copied and implemented from the west or east they are doing good with it.
Crypto will too, dont worry.
891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good advice? on: December 06, 2023, 02:02:59 PM
Implementing a strategy to control oneself during gambling sessions can include setting a budget for gambling, understanding the rules and odds of the games for more informed decision-making, being aware of emotional states while gambling and avoid chasing losses or making impulsive decisions based on frustration or excitement.
Gamblers are impulsive, otherwise they would not be gamblers in the first place. Tongue

So for them setting a budget which would take time, they would not do that but just deposit some big amount into the site, forgetting that its half their salary amount with multiple bills being unpaid yet.

For them decision making takes a back seat, they just want to make money and hence the all-in button seems like a safe haven and their go-to button likened to a "Big weapon" in Arcade games.
892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important for gambling success? on: December 06, 2023, 01:58:32 PM
The ones who win by randomly choosing a side can't do that with all the games because they are guessing. I'll give you an example, take two people, give them a paper with 20 MCQs on it, and out of the two people, one has a lot of knowledge about what the questions are about and the other one has no knowledge at all. So the one with zero knowledge will mark the answers with guesses while the other one will mark the right answers except for a couple that he didn't know. Now, who will have a higher chance of having marked more correct answers?
You can try this experiment where you have x number of questions and each has four options. If you get the same option as answer for all the questions, you will be correct 25% of the time because there are only 4 options.

Keeping that aside, of course the person who knows the subject will answer more correctly. But gambling is not like that, here you knowledge makes no difference if it is an EV- game and makes little difference if it is an EV+ game. Luck is what makes the rest of the equation. It is enough to wipe out your entire money in one single stroke.

Hence luck gets the major hand here. Gambling hence should be limited to a source of entertainment and not for making money.
893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sympathetic gamblers looses itself on: December 06, 2023, 01:54:19 PM
This is exactly how some gamblers runs out of gambling budgets and goes bankrupt because they fails to figure what their net worth or incomes value is.

They are basically to believe one who lost $20 has lost more to them who looses $10.
A condolence winning? What the hell does that have to do in gambling? If you are playing your luck it means you accept the possible outcomes and then you proceed and not the other way round. This is not a competition where there will be a 1st, 2nd prize and the rest will get a consolation.

Never get emotional seeing a gambler lose money, it is their fault and they have to take the blame for the loss, not you. Never be sympathetic to a gambler's loss either. Many gamblers are trying to play the victim card and extracting money from others just to play more and repeat the cycle. This is the effect of gambling addiction.
894  Other / Meta / Re: I have no more merit left to give! on: December 06, 2023, 01:49:14 PM
That's right, I currently have a whopping 0 merit left to give  Grin
You will surely get merits again even if you dont wish to become a merit source.

You got 30 merits for making this post, so now you should have 15 sMerits left to distribute out there. Hence the purpose of this thread is over and it should be locked.

Not sure if this qualifies as a hidden merit begging post though, just me thinking out loud, dont mind me. Cool
895  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] MIR Bounty Campaign - Fake Team + Fake Project on: December 06, 2023, 01:34:52 PM
Fellow users here, it seems OP has already prepared a flag for this scammer, I did not notice until just now because the flag was inactive in the lack of support.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=988147;page=iflags

Please provide your support/oppose actions on the flag and help save some innocent newbies from this low life.

OP, you should put the link to the flag you have created on the first post of this page so that DT members reading this can support it right away. I have supported the same, but I am not on DT, so it wont activate yet.

It would be even better if you use the reference topic as this topic rather than the scammer's topic - because the scammer can delete their thread in future but this thread would not be deleted so easily. In such case, you need to start a new flag, if you do, post it here once done.

Edit:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=988147

@Rikafip Please check the above link. I can see the flag there. But I will wait for the OP to use a correct reference topic, like I said above.
896  Local / India / Re: Future of Indian Economy on: December 05, 2023, 04:33:46 PM
Recently I came accross an article where they discussed how much TDS the Indian government lost because of their 1percent policy.
Indian exchanges are having a tough time running here. From the outside we see them run effectively but in the inside, I am sure they are having their own bad days and trying to recover from the mess. Government's policies are done by people who are illiterate on cryptocurrency and how it works, its benefits and hence they make stuff up in such a way that it hurts people.

No use blaming the ruling part about it - if a new party comes in, they will follow the same shit their predecessors did, same has happened for years now.

We can continue to keep our fingers crossed and hope for taxation reduction and crypto-friendly laws.
897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: December 05, 2023, 04:27:48 PM
Bet building is an awesome feature in sports betting, allows you to bet on different types and choices at once and you should get them all right to win the total odds payout with higher return than betting one by one. Anyways, making that very lucky bet with a compilation bets at once is so hard a hitting a jackpot especially that using small amount of money can make you that rich.
I think I remember the Parley system on Nitrogensports from this. Multiple bets added on top of another to multiply the wager with the total odds multiplier.

Quote
No, but seriously some people are so good in sports betting and they get good choices and bets and also making profits and a more salary for their pockets. However, don’t get fooled by these screenshots and showing profits because it also might be a scam and promoting his betting signals.
I seriously doubt that such people actually make all their money from sports betting, maybe a small part but not all. The major income they get is from casino's promotional stuff they spread in the community through social media, youtube and so on. Another part is the courses they might be selling on academic websites which is a zero risk investment.

Hence such bets done once in a blue moon never bother me and will not bother you once you realize how its run.
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you bet on when your league is in break? on: December 05, 2023, 04:22:43 PM
The fact that leagues have their own breaks makes me think that, as gamblers, we should also adopt that practice.
A good comparison.

Every league knows its time to rest, similar with gambling - done in excess (or not) leads to losses because of wrong decision making and hurried choices. I would suggest keeping a bankroll and manage it, hence the idea of taking a break comes to realization.

Just because some game is going on, should not make you bet on that, because you are already in a disadvantage.
899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blackrock ETF Discussion on: December 05, 2023, 04:19:25 PM
It terms of the market reaction is an ETF does indeed get approval at some point next year...I expect the immediate reaction would be a large spike upwards, perhaps multiple thousands of dollars, followed by the inrush of people trying to crash the price or simply just taking profit on the spike.
The market is hoping for good news Grin and that is the reason of the sudden spikes in price.

It is currently the traders wet dream to see ETF approval because then only the next all time high will be reached. I say, keep the sell orders ready for the same - it might be possible by the next year. The market would assume new support levels if it does go through though and it will be higher than 35k USD for sure.

So in the best interest, wait it out and keep both buy and sell orders placed. Who knows suddenly one night it might get approved. Cool
900  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] MIR Bounty Campaign - Fake Team + Fake Project on: December 05, 2023, 04:14:06 PM
This is a childish attempt to run a scam project.

The pictures are off high net worth Russian people and they are behind this "token" that none of us have even heard about, yet? If that was really the case investors would be fighting to get a share of these tokens and everyone in this crypto space would have known about it.

It is not uncommon for scam projects to put up famous people/established professionals pictures on their website and run it. We often have to detect these scams by contacting that person on LinkedIn to verify if they actually know about this project.

If you open a flag, I am sure a lot of the users here will support it. That is how we can save some newbies from getting scammed apart from a negative trust rating.
